I got a bike for my son few weeks back from the store. It was a great experience. BIG SHOUT OUT TO JETHRO! He helped my 11 year old get his new Giant ATX Bike. There was a huge open area back of the store where my son could safely try the bike. Jethro was very patient while my son who kept riding the bike for more than 10 minutes. The assembly was great. While we waited to check out, I was also helped with a tune up of my old bike. The environment here is relaxed and I can see happy employees enjoying their job and giving their best to the customers. I am happy we have a great neighborhood bike shop in Katy.

My previous experiences were not bad. But, this time when I went to service my bicycle, I met a seemingly inexperienced person. The tires were fine but the spoke was broken and needed replacement.I left my bicycle with Handlebar. The bill was higher than what I quoted but the person said that he had to do additional work. Paid the higher amount. Since then, I had to take my bicycle back no less than 4 times. The brakes were not attached properly, etc, etc, Within a week, the tire tube also busted.Though the tire tube busting might or might not have been related to the fix, the total inexperience of the person showed. I am uncomfortable taking my bicycle to this store now. Looking to take my bicycle to another store which is further out.

Best bike shop in the area! Came in with a simple tubeless issue and staff not only took the time to quickly fix the original issue but helped to decide on a few upgrades. They installed my new wheelset on the spot and and I was back out riding the same day. Highly recommend Handlebar Cyclery 👍

Bad communication; I called in advance before taking my bike for a simple basic tune-up at 2 pm on July 1st. On the phone, when I asked the lady how long could it take to do a simple basic tune-up on a road bike? the lady said it is a basic tune-up we can check it and we should be able to do it on the spot so you can just at the store wait with the bike, it should not take too long. So I told her I was on my way to take my bike there. When arriving at the store, I was told by a guy to drop the bike and they will send me a text the next day with the estimate. I called and checked the next day at 11:00 AM and the guy that answers just indicated right then that they are 10 days behind and condescendingly said I again we will send you a text whenever they get to it, so thats why they cant do anything on the bike yet. This was a complete lack of communication, if he would say that when I got there, I would have not left my bike there. Simply professional communication at the time they are receiving the bike from their client as just in case, we are back up for 10 days, so if you need your bike sooner be aware it can take a long time even for a basic tune-up. would have avoided this issue. They wasted my time and on top of it, the guy that answers show unapologetically for his lack of communication. I definitively not taking my bike there again for their poor customer communication.

Got a flat tire replaced at a fair cost and in a timely manner. Extremely friendly staff provides useful information and seems very knowledgeable.

AMAZING SHOP! I’m so happy I found them! I love the customer service and how quick and efficient they are! The shop is so different from others in the sense that you get that visual along with all the vibes! It definitely is more of a personal shop experience service versus an impersonal shop that takes your bike in the back. A+++

Im excessively behind posting this. Went in, no appointment, with a pedal that was stuck on the bike so hard I thought I was going to have to get a welding torch and cut it out. The guys there were awesome and, what made me feel better, got it off with a bit of extra effort. Cant say enough about how great the team there is whenever Im coming in for anything. Theyll always have my business.

I have been cycling for years and I find most Bike shops to be friendly and eager to help us cyclist who support the sport and local business.I was service once by the owner Steven changing a cassette and replacing my chain, service was excellent and friendly.My Garmin 1030 Case/Battery broke and I had ordered a new Case/Battery to replace it. Today I showed up at the shop seeking a very small star screw driver to remove the screws and fix it. I was engaged by a gentleman with a long beard, I explained my needs and with a very poor Can’t Do attitude went on a tangent expressing that they did not have those tools and the reason why they don’t deal with Garmin repairs as it would void the warranty. After I acknowledge that they did not have the tool he insisted on talking to me in a condescending manner with a very poor and rude attitude with no customer service etiquette.I really hate to write this review as the owner is a hands on type of guy with great customer service and a polite attitude, but the cycling community is very small and people like this should not be working in the customer service industry.The way I was treated was embarrassing to my self in really turned me off from going there again.

Cool place, cool bikes in stock, but if you are gonna drop 3G in a bike shop for a new bike, can you at least offer up a bike fitting?? Had to pull the info about the bike out of these guys as none were willing to sell the bike. If u just need something and dont care about service, great place.

Walked in to get my kids handle bar fixed … was planning to purchase and get it replaced … but the store rep was so knowledgeable and recommended a fix than a replacement and he didn’t charge for the service … excellent customer service

During the pandemic, many places didnt have any decent stock but the Handlebar Cyclery did. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their prices are very reasonable.

Just had an amazing experience here. This is a serious bike shop that will take you seriously when you rock in with your daughters frozen bike. We are lucky to have a shop of this caliber out here.

We bought a bike for my wife here in January. She loves it; however, the front 3-speed shifter started failing and by June would not hold in 2nd gear; it would drop back into 1st. We took the bike in about July 6 and they determined that, yes, the shifter is bad and theyd have to send it in to Shimano to have them evaluate and replace in order to have it covered under warranty. They were going to keep the bike, but I talked them into removing the shifter and locking the front derailleur in 2nd gear, so we could keep and continue using the bike. Having heard nothing by Aug 24 (7 weeks), I called them. I was told that they had not heard back from Shimano yet and that our repair order had been moved to the inactive pile. They said that they would try to get a response from Shimano. I asked whether they could provide a replacement shifter from their stock and replace their stock when they receive the replacement from Shimano. They were happy to discuss selling me a replacement but providing a warranty replacement was a no-go. I pointed out that this is putting the customer at an inconvenience -- having either to do without a bike, to ride one that is diminished, or to buy a part we shouldnt have to. Their best offer was to again contact Shimano and contact me, and to move our work order back into the active pile. Its now 3-1/2 weeks farther along, and Im still waiting for that call back. Ill give two stars because at least theyre pleasant while providing substandard service.

Best service...nice shop. the staff and the owner are always there to help. they even let me rent a seat to try before I buy. (its an expensive seat) this seat was awesome! it is as comfortable as you can get for all those long rides im trying to work up to. During this corona time its also good to see the extra effort to make customers feel good about shopping there.. Thanks for all the help!!

I brought in an over 20 year old Trek MountainBike which had not been ridden that long fora Tune Up and parts replacement. The nextday I had a complete work order on whatneeded to be done with suggestions. Thatmy friends is absolutely outstanding andimpressive to say the least. BIG SHOUT OUT to the team at Handlebar Cyclery. I came by for the first time in the afternoon on 9/2/20 urgently needing a truing service on my wife and I warped bike rims. We just started riding this year and have been addicted since the start of Covid-19. The Handlebar team had quite a few people and their bikes coming in and out and they seemed to be extremely busy. Despite being busy I was greeted and welcomed into the establishment. My bikes were assessed and reasonable options and prices were provided. The bikes were checked in and I was told Ill receive a text when the service was complete. A little over an hour i received communication the service was complete. I get the bikes and was amazed how they were able to get the rims back in shape. Especially on my bike due to hitting a curb at decent speed. Im very impressed with how I and my bikes were handled from start to finish. The quality of work, professionalism and customer service stood out. I highly recommend visiting Handlebar Cyclery for your cycling needs.

I spoke with one of the employees, Yoshi. She was extremely friendly and helpful. The entire team were very friendly and didnt give off the csr salesmen vibe that I have recieved at multiple bike shops. Even though I didnt buy anything they still were willing to help me out with a shock problem I was having. Yoshi walked me through a website on how to get my item fixed and did it with a smile and patience. The store was very clean and welcoming. Will definitely buy from this location in the future.

Brought my bike purchased elsewhere for an initial tune up. From the time I entered the store I received great customer service. Tech team very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Added shoe clip pedals to my mountain bike. Showed me how to use them since it was my first ever using them. Great experience. Will be going back if any additional work is ever needed.

I had been searching for a bike that fit my height requirements and had trouble everywhere until I came across Handlebar. From the moment I walked in the door, I was welcomed by the friendliest staff members. They immediately helped me figure out everything from the height and style of bike to the color and basket. I had tried a few other stores and the only options they had for my height were childrens bikes.When my bike arrived, they assembled it for me and adjusted everything to my specifications. All future adjustments etc are free which is a plus.They even have beer on tap while you wait.I was very impressed with every aspect of my experiences at Handlebar.

We have used Handlebar Cyclery a few times and have always been completely satisfied. However, I recently took a 30 year old Trek 2100 in because I could not break loose the saddle adjustment bolt nor the seat post adjustment bolt. In five minutes they had both bolts loosened and I was out the door. Again, completely satisfied.

I found the staff at Handlebar Cyclery to be very helpful, informed, and service oriented. I had an issue finding a replacement part for my mountain bike, and the associate helped me out practically and educated me in the process. I look forward to going back to Handlebar Cyclery for their expertise in all things related to bicycles.

I had a great experience at Handlebar this weekend. Everyone there I talked to was fantastic. I was shopping for my first bike as an adult and I wasnt clear on which bike type was best for me. I worked with Richard primarily and he was very patient explaining all of the options and details. I had been to a few larger chain stores in Houston prior to Handlebar, and I kept being upsold on likely higher commission bikes that were not ideal for my riding. The customer service won me over and I ended up buying a hardtail mountain.

My third time visiting and each time they have been great. Fast, friendly, and efficient, ask for Jethro! This is my my new local bike shop.

Literally best bike place ever if your looking to get your bike done go here. Me and my Dad went here to get my bike fixed we had no idea what was wrong with it. Well they found out that my front tire valve was completely busted. they replaced it and cleaned my tire chain wickedly fast for FREE I just had to leave a tip I really hope they get more recognition because they really deserve it. They also fix your bike right in front of you and you probably know its really difficult to find a decent bike place and they do way better than just decent totally recommend this place 👍

This place is fantastic. Ask for Jethro. As everyone knows, it’s very hard to find a bike these days anywhere. I had searched everywhere for a month. One day I stopped in on a hunch because I owed my 14 year old daughter a bike for a gift. The salesman there (Jethro) asked what I needed and I told him, but they didn’t have anything on the floor. He went out of his way to say “let me see what I can find for you in the system.” He found me the PERFECT bike for her. Exact color and everything. The bike is incredible. He was so helpful figuring out fit as well. I couldn’t believe we found one. It was the very last one and it was delivered in a day. He built the bike himself and called me for delivery. Then when we picked it up he was incredibly helpful adjusting it on the spot for her, cutting the seat post etc. He was just so nice to my daughter the whole time. He gave us his personal cell and said call any time and he will Facetime us through any problems. He said he even makes house calls some times to help customers. When we left my wife said “it’s obvious he loves what he does” which is exactly right. He just loves bikes and loves helping people. The store itself is great too. Looks like they really know what they are doing. They offer lifetime adjustments on the spot. Awesome service quality. Find Jethro, he’ll set you up and treat you great.

I just moved to Fulshear and was referred to this store by the guys a Pedego. Went there today looking for a small replacement part for one of my bikes and to look around for another new hardtail. Was told that the team at Handlebar was knowledgeable and could perhaps help me with my problem. Man.. they could not have been more wrong. I have to be honest, I was not intending to write this review but the guy behind the counter I believe was either the owner or maybe the store manager did not pay the slightest attention to me and could not have shown more disinterest in a customer. Rude to the max. Rest assure I will never set foot on this store ever again.

Bad attitude. Rude Response. I reached there after the shop closed... saw someone outside, so just asked him if they have trainer stands. He firmly gave me a price range of the trainer that they had. Just few days back, one of my friends had purchased one from them significantly cheaper, so I thought that may be they might have a different model. So, I said, “no, I mean those simple trainer sta...” he cuts me in the middle, raises his voice and says “I JUST TOLD YOU WHAT WE HAVE”. End of conversation. Definitely not going back there

Contacted Handlebar Cyclery to help me find the part for Giant mtb.. Pretty much 0 help and emailed them few times in the past days, this people have no interest to help! They deserve 1 star!

Used to be my go to shop! 2nd time to have a comprehensive service. Requested new cables. At p/u I was asked if there was a problem with the Campy Super Record Shifter (2 years old). There had never been an issue. Handlebar installed new cables and said the shifter intermittently sticks. They said they rebuilt it and it still intermittently sticks. They broke it and I was asked to cover some cost to fix or wait 90 days without while Campy decides if the issue is warranty covered???? Either the shop broke it or its a warranty issue as it was working fine! Handlebar WOULD NOT STEP UP. Had to go to another shop, one that is closer and stands behind their work. I might have been more willing to indulge, but at the same time my best friend had his Campy SR crankset serviced. The chain ring screw was tightened far beyond the torque setting. Required professional service and replacement. Keep in mind my friend is an adept cyclist and mechanic. He built his bike, rebuilt his Mustang from the ground up, too. Sadly, it seems things have gone downhill at the Cyclery since Jay, store manager, left.Read the shops response. Half truth at best. Handlebar broke the shifter and that was only part of the issue. My bike was returned with shifter damage, the stem had a bolt stripped, the handlebars pointed downward, not in the same position which is odd given the exact fitting was done by Handlebar and on file. A $225 bill! My friends bike was returned with the crank bolt tightened to fusing. Luckily, Society fixed both bikes. NEVER return to Handlebar. NO SURPRISE the reviews on Facebook were removed as these validate multiple issues. A Colnago & Campagnolo Dealer that does not stock either!

This has been my go-to store since they opened. Great team at the store who are all very knowledgeable. Always honest, helpful and always do a great job. Bought my mountain bike, my wife’s cruiser and other parts here. Just bought new wheels from them - took a week to arrive, but well worth the wait as Richard did a great job with the tubeless set up, new cassette and new chain. Always coffee or a beer available, too.

This was my first time really purchasing a bike with the purpose of getting into road cycling and I have to say the experience was fantastic! I purchased a Giant Contender 3 at a good price, I received needed help on some other accessories as I dont really understand the intricacies of road cycling as well as just general help concerning riding. This bike shop is your one stop shop for everything I have to say, absolutely great place!

Used to be my bike shop! But no longer....took my bike in for warranty service and they took nearly two weeks to submit request to the manufacturer. When asked about it over the phone I was told you should be thankful, it takes us up to 3 weeks to do that To which I replied that was unacceptable. Their reply? well, you can pickup your bike if you wish. Drove to the store and found out it was the Owner that was on the phone.So...I did exactly that. Picked it up and am now taking the bike, And my Business, elsewhere. That is not how you treat customers. And now looking at reviews, Im not the only one to have poor interpersonal service here.Btw...Urban Bicycle Gallery at 801 Durham has better selection, and friendlier staff that knows how to treat a customer.

I was stranded on the side of a trail with a flat tire. Jethro (who I had never met) pulls over, stops his ride, takes out a new tube, replaces the tube and fills it up!!! Refused when I tried to pay him. Mind you it was probably 95 degrees outside. You have a new customer for life.

So I decided to get back on my bike after finding the new bike and hike trail near my house . My 10 speed road bike is a very vintage PUCH which I had been riding a lot before I moved to Katy from the Heights. I had major issues with the rear wheel and I can honestly say I thought that a new bike would cost me less then working on this old thing! I took it to Handlebar cyclery after speaking to Yoshi on the phone, she said bring it in and we will check it out and let you know what we can do. I was so happy that they had a wheel to fit my bike and fix me up all within 30 minutes and now my bike rides like a Cadillac, lol! I love this place and will definitely be back and highly recommend them, they are the BEST!

We came to Handlebar’s new location next to Academy and had a great experience! Ian was so helpful and converted my daughter’s training wheel bike into a balance bike to get her ready for a two wheeler! The store has a great selection of bikes and very knowledgeable staff!

Allows people to ride bikes in parking lot, causing accidents since they do not follow road laws regarding stopping at red lights and stop signs. The facility can control this because the cyclers park in front of your store. Will not remove this review.

I came in and I mentioned my budget is $350-450 and my main use will be biking to and forth from places within 5 miles and Jay, the associate there was tremendously helpful. Helped me pick a bike out (2019 Giant Escape 3) that is perfect for my needs and fit right in the sweet spot of my budget. He tuned it and adjusted everything and even helped load it into my car. Incredible customer service and the people are passionate about what they do, highly recommend this place... even asked if I wanted espresso while I waited... if youre in the Katy area, screw other bike shops, go to Handlebar Cyclery!

A+ service - I needed a spacer on my cassette so it was snug fit. Was looking to purchase the spacer and install it my self, but, the guys grabbed the wheel and cassette, installed a spacer, and did not charge me. Im coming back for sure.

Great Bike Shop - Friendly ServiceI did not have my full tool kit with me while visiting in Texas and need to change pedals. They immediately helped me without charge. The shop is clean and well organized. Having the shop on full display is a real plus. I want to know how good the mechanic is before trusting my bike to them. I highly recommend a visit!

I brought my sons new bike in because we thought the gears were not changing correctly and they were super polite in correcting us and teaching my son to correctly shift his new bike as well as make sure he was comfortable with it and tweaking a couple screws. On top of all that they did not charge for their time or service. Super nice people, definitely will be going there to service his bike going forward.

These guys are amazing. I bought a bike from them back in November and put a lot of miles on it since then. My brake pads wore out so I took it back in and they took great care of it. A part needed to be replaced and it only cost me $4.00. Then they gave it a full tune up and my bike rides like brand new again. I rely on it to get to work and back, so that was a big deal to me. Wonderful place with dedicated people. Keep up the great work guys!

Wow! The staff (though I hesitate to use that term as the feeling is more like friends) and the services they provide are second to none. I purchased new pedals from Richard last night and his knowledge, ability and patience with me was terrific. He was very reassuring walking me through the process as this was my first pair of clip-less pedals I had purchased. Stephen, the owner was there as well. We engaged in great conversation, very easy going and very attentive. I happen to live in the area so convenience is important to me, but I too own a retail business, and it is just as important to support local businesses. I plan to support them every chance I get. The Handlebar team are masters at their craft. Always helpful, always friendly, and they care about your bike as much as you do. I had a great experience ordering and customizing a hike from them recently. In tandem with their generous maintenance plan, they beat every other shop in the area hands down. I wont go anywhere else.

Not pleased with phone service. Called in to request information on rear derailleur choice when ordering a new one. Person insisted that I bring it in even after I told him i could give him whatever information he needed as I was sitting in front of the bike. I told him I prefer to do my own work and he still suggested I bring it in. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Visited the store first time with my single speed bike. Richard adjusted the brakes quickly and efficiently. I had assembled my bike incorrectly in some places, he fixed it too. Handlebar Cyclery is a great full-service bike shop, staffed by mechanics who have been round the block a good bit and know what theyre doing and what they sell. The shop is well stocked enough that they can help you whether youre in the market for a new seat or pedals, or you just need to replace a cable clip that youve lost on a trail somewhere.They have a wide selection of bikes, from high-end professional hardware right down to kids balance bikes!

This shop opened recently and is now the closest bike shop to my house. Stopped by for my first time at this shop to get a bike tune-up before a week long ride next month. Techs were super friendly (offered me a beverage while we talked!) and knowledgeable. They seemed to honestly tune up my bike without adding extra fixes like some other bike shops seem to do. Thanks! Ill definitely be coming back for my bike repair and supply needs.

While this shop is not close to my house, I drive considerably further for their great customer service and availability of products. Their staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. They have one of the best, if not the best saddle demo program in the Houston area. Plus they stock a good selection of spare parts and nutritional items. They even offer you beer for coming into their shop! Highly recommend.

I always enjoy visiting the shop. I have taken mine or my wifes bike over there for minor items or even more complex maintenance. They always have the best customer service do quality work, and have a great environment. They also have a great selection of bikes and accesories!

I came in with my 4 kids and stroller wheels! everyone in the shop was nice. I told them that my wheels had been bulging then going flat, she worked on them for about 15 min, and they are now working great and do not go flat anymore! I am very glad I found this shop, it saved me so much time and hassle since I dont have to try and get new tires now.Extremely helpful staff. Friendly atmosphere.

Top notch. In the last month, they helped evaluate my positioning on a new bike, ordered and installed a piece to adjust accordingly, and helped me order two new tires for a commuter bike I have. Super friendly, and more than concerned with customer satisfaction. The stem hardware came in with the wrong color, but they let me install it anyway so I could start riding... giving me the option to swap it out when the correct one came. Turns out I kept the first one, but they bent over backwards to make sure I wasnt held up. Everything you could ask for in a LBS, including coffee.
