Sunday afternoon excursion, post quarantine at:Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe3404 34th St, Lubbock, TX 79410Daughter had a turkey sandwich and I had a Frito Pie.Frito Pie was the best I’ve had from a restaurant!Dessert was a lemon chiffon scoop on a cone (lemon taste wasn’t strong. It tasted like lemon cake. Yum!), and a caramel sundae with Pecan Praline ice cream. All of it was delicious!Frank Sinatra on the jukebox, and the staff were all younger, yet very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. Place has the old fashioned ice cream shop vibe and has both booths and tables.Cost was around $30 for everything including tip.Different, and we really enjoyed the experience!
We love coming to this place when we come to Lubbock. Weve been bringing our kids here since they were little and now that theyre grown we meet up here. The food is really food and the atmosphere is very classic 1950s style. The staff is super cordial and the ice cream shakes are amazing. They have a nice size variety of ice cream and they also make old fashioned sodas. I had the old fashioned root beer soda and was not disappointed at all.
First time to go here! They offer a variety of ice creams, sandwiches, soups and salads. The ice cream flavor I got was a cinnamon flavor and its very tasty! I also got a cup of loaded potato soup to go, which is also very good! I will definitely go back. Their wait staff was friendly and courteous!
Found this little gem when we were craving for ice cream. Definitely will.make this a stop every time we are back in town.Homemade ice cream with great selection of many flavors ice cream, non sugar ice cream and sorbet. Food menu has a good selection of soup, sandwiches, hot dog and salad.Nice environment, feel like back to the 50s. Sodas are sold in glass bottles only. There is a party room for private party too. The owner and her team are very friendly.
This is such a cute place to eat at! The theme is great and the decor matches perfectly. The food was excellent and well priced. The staff is very friendly too. Highly recommend!
Loved it! Enjoyed the atmosphere, and obviously the ice cream was great but was surprised they also serve great food so you can have dinner and dessert and not just dessert. Also enjoyed buying the special sodas in glass bottles to take home.
I love their Ice cream its delicious. My family loves them to. They are very nice people there. We really loved it.
Great retro setting . Clean atmosphere. Excellent sandwiches. Excellent homemade ice cream 🍦They have the biggest selection of cold drinks that I have ever seen. We try to go here twice a week. If you are looking for a meal or desert or you only want a drink ..this is the place.Definitely a must see.HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Great food and prices. The workers are super nice.
One of Lubbocks brightest little joints. Its always a delight to drop in here and get a classic milkshake and enjoy the 50s decor. Staff are very friendly, prices are reasonable, and the quality of the ice cream is second to none. Easily one of my favorite places to bring visitors to the 806. You wont regret stopping in here for a tasty treat.
I went to see Free Guy recently. They make a big deal about Bubble Gum Ice Cream in that movie. Unfortunately for me Im an easy target for food marketing in film or television. Suddenly I found myself on a quest to find the elusive bubble Gum Ice cream. Seriously, they dont sell it anywhere. Even Baskin Robbins let me down. But lucky for me, I was driving into Lubbock to go draw for Texas Tech when I came across Holly Hop Ice Cream Shop. Guess what they had! But seriously, if youre ever in Lubbock stop by this quirky, retro 50s style diner destination for a scoop. You wont regret it.
It has a unique and very friendly staff. The ambience is so good with a juke box and a combo meal that allows you to pick your choice of crisps and drink which has a variety. The business though constant...everyone was satisfied. The ice creams were yum and the cost was economical
Delicious ice cream and it comes in flavors you shouldnt be afraid to try. If you are as old as I am it takes you back to your childhood and the shops your parents used to take you to. The staff is super friendly and polite. Will definitely be back often!
Anytime we are in Lubbock, we like to stop here for a nice cool treat!
Great sandwich! I did not get the ice cream, but the shakes and sundaes looked amazing! Ice cream for sure next time!
This place is awesome....!! Its like a blast into the past. Authentic ice-cream parlor.
Best ice cream Ive had. Purple Cow and Apple Pie flavors were to amazing beyond words!
This is a awesome place to go back in time. Also the only place in Lubbock that serves Pineapple Milkshakes. My husbands favorite. Everyone is always nice and get the orders out fast. Only place we come to to get ice cream. Love this place.
A nice family place I love to bring my 3 girls here when We get a chance.
Awesome sandwiches and soup. Great selection of craft sodas. And the main thing delicious ice cream they make themselves on freshly-made waffle cones. All this plus a free jukebox which includes Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash!
This place will definitely take you back in time straight to the 1950’s. Absolutely love their decor and sitting in the booth right next to the juke box with my boyfriend was a great experience. Let’s not forget about that excellent ice cream selection though! By far the best in Lubbock, Texas! Highly recommend this spot to take kids, have a nice one-on-one date or even just to stop in and get a fountain drink to-go. Definitely a 5-star experience!
Really tasty ice cream! Fun little hidden spot.
Love the throw back atmosphere and the ice cream is very good. Will be back for more.
So surprised that I have lived in Lubbock 7 years and never been to this place! My boyfriend finally dragged me here last weekend and Im so glad he did! The shop is so cute on the inside, its like stepping back into the 50s. There were so many unique ice cream flavors and they even offer some food choices (though be careful, the kitchen closes earlier than the shop). I had the waffle bowl with two scoops: butter pecan and cookie monster (the blue one). My boyfriend had the same except his two scoops were purple cow and blueberry. Each flavor was impossible delicious! When you go be sure to try each flavor and I personally recommend the cookie monster! 😍
I swear the smell is what heaven smells like!! So good and so many cool flavors with fresh cones.
Such a neat place! Great atmosphere, staff, and food. Especially great homemade ice-cream. My boys loved it, and so did us adults!!
Its a great local restaurant if you want good homely sandwiches and a great fine place to enjoy a shake. Themed fantastically and every one who works there is nice.
Wonderful staff with upbeat customer service and quick delivery of orders. Overall this place rings old school ice cream parlor with soda pop, antique decor, and juke boxes. Nice variety of ice cream treats as well. Sundaes are a specialty. I had an ice cream sandwich. Cookies are really good. Ice cream was coffee and it felt balanced and creamy. I would definitely recommend this place over and over and will be back
We came in for lunch and left so pleased. The staff is very friendly and we were greeted with big welcoming smiles. We all ordered lunch and drinks and dessert for such a reasonable price. Everything was made to perfection and all the ingredients were well beyond the price we paid we were so amazed and pleased with the quality. The restaurant is very clean and very cute! They even had peanuts for the Coke! The jukebox is free to play some great oldies! We were transported to a time where family is the focus and good times come with laughter love and great flavors! The owner Stefani was hands on and so nice it added a real hometown feel. Truly a gem in Lubbock. We cant wait to go back!!!
Due to other ratings, I was expecting so much. They did not deliver. My club sandwich had little else but bread on it. Seriously...about 75% bread...very little meat and veggies. The frito pie was good but only had enough chili for about half the fritos in it. Then we got ice cream. The cone was a cone and okay. The banana split was a massive failure! 3 large scoops of ice cream...good start...then put pineapple (about a tablespoon) on the chocolate ice cream....yes on the chocolate!! Then some fake tasting strawberry on the strawberry and then...then...about a teaspoon if chocolate syrup ( yeah, NOT fudge) on the vanilla ice cream. Added banana and done. Ice cream was good. Pineapple on chocolate was ridiculous and if youre not going to put more toppings than that...then dont sell banana splits!! Will not be back here...great atmosphere...but just comes no where close to competing with other similar places. - Added after owner response - Ok...consider myself corrected, pineapple is put on the chocolate at some places and hot fudge is not used on banana splits...my bad...ok. I do not mean to be so heavy handed, however, I do mean to give others an honest opinion. Your right the atmosphere is great and the ice cream is great. But ...there wasnt a girl working that evening, at least of the 3 behind the counter and I am not sure blaming a new girl is the right way to go here. The banana split was a 6 out of 10 and the frito pie and sandwich were a 3 out of 10. Sorry if you feel that is too heavy...but Ill go again and see if the food gets any better.
Cool place, although a little crowded so we took it to go.
The waffle cones are amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful in choosing what to get!
It was very nice. The young man who waited on us was sweet and very kind.
This place is so awesome! Loved the atmosphere and the ice cream was delicious!
Stopped by while visiting Lubbock based on how lively it looked. Enjoyed the Ice cream very much. Very neat, classic 50s vibe.... Customer service was awesome!
By far one of our new hidden gems of ice cream off the beaten highways that stretch our beautiful state! With a retro 50s look and the bar stools, jukebox and booths to prove it; this jewel has some.of the best varieties of flavor and sugar to coat all your tastebuds!
Such a cool place. Great ice cream and love the old fashion ambiance
Great retro atmosphere with excellent service and amazing ice cream/sorbet.
This place is a dream come true. You will never regret a trip to Holly Hop.
Its always the best day ever whenever I take my boys to Holly Hop, my kids love this place the owners are such kind people and the bananna splits are epic!
Nice atmosphere with lots of choices! Locally owned. Nice people too.
Needs a major deep cleaning. Floor dirty, front counter dirty, a dish bin full of dirty dishes sitting right next to ice cream counter, the sink which is a focal point when waiting to pay is nasty. First and last time there.
This place was absolutely amazing. The staff and owners were exceptionally polite and helpful. The line was out the door and they still made you feel like the only customer answering questions and allowing the kids to try samples!
I’ve cream is yummy! Prices are reasonable! Device is great! Nice clean place. Highly recommend!
Good food! Fun atmosphere! Fast service! Loved it! GREAT ICE CREAM!
The food is good, and the icecream is delightful. The employees are nice too. The food takes a little bit to go out though.
Very friendly and clean. Enjoyed ice cream with grandson.
This was the first time I had been to this place. It was easy to find even though I had not lived in Lubbock for many years. The food was very good and we had a large group of ladies who were present. The restaurant had a large room with a table already set up. When in Lubbock I would definitely return to this place. Wide selection of foods.
Nice 50s style polar creates old fashion experience.
Fantastic local owned homemade ice cream shop. Very pleasant experience and great ice cream.
Great place to get a tasty treat by an amazing staff
This place was great. The service was super friendly. I had the banana split with vanilla, strawberry and blueberry ice cream. I topped it off with strawberry and chocolate sauce. I added whipped cream with pecans. The ice cream was smooth and creamy just like it should be. If I ever make back to Lubbock, I will definitely stop by again. Love the old school soda shop feel to the place.
Wonderful little venue that looks like the 50s theme that they were going for. Staff is extremely awesome and very helpful. Ice cream is some of the best Ive ever had. Chai tea ice cream really is unusual, but amazing in a milkshake. Recommended to everyone.
INCREDIBLE Ice cream and staff. This a must try and a genuine Lubbock gem.
Awesome place for the family great ice cream and malts.
Lovely 50s diner feel. Good ice cream.
They (customers and customer service) were so nice. Two ladies were there with 5 girls (10and under) and one boy about 2 yrs. The girls were having fun playing hide and seek. I was there and one couple. No one mind the girls playing. The classic hot dog, I loved, I like the taste of the frank and then the dark chocolate ice cream with peanut buttercup in it, yummy! I will be going back!
Awesome place for ice-cream
Great ice cream and nice service.
Great food, atmosphere and service!
The ice cream is good. I really enjoyed it.

Great place to go for ice cream!! Great service and very fast ...kids loved it
We went as a family right before closing and the staff was super friendly and festive. They were working well together as a team and dancing to the music as they worked. My kids loved it!
Love the retro looking interior, its so cute. Ive only had their fudge brownie with ice cream and it really hit the spot. Would definitely recommend the brownies and the ice cream.

Yummy ice cream and friendly staff.
Wonderful shop. Best icecream made in store in Lubbock, TX. The owners are very nice people, and customer service has always been top notch. Absolutely adorable spot for vintage photo shoots and general nostalgia. Love love love!
Love the nostalgia. Sweet BLT and homemade ice cream
Oct 9 about 7pmEven though they have signs posted on the entrance that mask are required to enter apparently that isnt the case and the sign doesnt is just decoration!Us and our kids were wearing mask when we came in and while ordering. Then while eating our ice cream a Texas Tech bus pulls up and about 30 people both young and old come inside and ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THEM WERE WEARING MASK!!Some of them had them down around their neck but not covering their mouth or nose.No one behind the counter said anything to the large group other than what kind of ice cream would you like.So apparently if you want ice cream and dont want to wear a mask or like a business that puts profit over safety then this is the place for you!
Nice service and really tasty ice cream
Such a cool and fun local place!
