While they were backed up, they kept up such a great attitude and were extremely welcoming and kind! It is usually very easy to tell when it is a false front, but the lady was genuinely so nice and was able to answer any questions that we had. Great food too! I HIGHLY recommend this place! This was my first time here and I can guarantee that I will be coming back!

Very covid-safe experience and well worth trying. Among my favorite coffee shops in the campus area and some of the best waffles Ive ever had. Beautiful vintage exterior and aesthetic. Would reccomend glancing at their online menu prior to ordering.

The coffee here is amazing and the waffles are perfect! Ive only been here a few times, but I quite enjoy the friendliness of the staff and they have a wonderful atmosphere! The outside patio is cozy and quaint!

We had breakfast here every morning that we were visiting town recently, and loved it! We got hooked on their multigrain walnut waffles. Their small garden in the back has about 5 tables and it was a real pleasure to have breakfast under the tree there. The coffee should be stronger though. Wait staff are all very pleasant and work super hard.

I lived in the Greenbush neighborhood for three years and never realized how good this place is until I came back as an alum. The coffee is excellent and the food menu is surprisingly expansive and extremely good. Also really appreciate that theyre open til 5 every day. Really wish Id appreciated this place more when I was a student.

The coffee and food is great, gf options for bread and bagels also. Id give 5 stars but theres tons of old school indie records and artists on the wall, but the music they play is utterly opposite of this. Lol. Its cramped, but cute and very clean.

As all the reviews confirm, this place is a wonderfully authentic coffee house. The quality of the coffee is excellent—served hot, robust and exactly as I specified, and the panini egg sandwiches—I had no idea egg sandwiches could taste this good. This will be my go-to spot when I’m in Madison.

Interesting retro ambience in this coffee place. There was a lag with the service from the staff, probably because of the rush hours. The pancakes taste good although not the best but still worth it. I highly recommend the Focaccia sandwiches, beautifully grilled and has a perfect blend of condiments to the protein. Definitely a one time visit. We ordered the Work waffles and the Cheesy focaccia sandwich.

We stopped quickly on our way through Madison and we were presently surprised their black cold brew is sooooo good. I loved the vibe of this place and wish we could have stayed longer!

Indie is great!! When we aren’t in the midst of a global pandemic, the shop is super cozy and has a great atmosphere.During the pandemic, they’ve been very responsible in employee and customer safety, which is much appreciated. They don’t do dine-in but you can order to go or to take to their back patio! They have a heater on the patio but it wasn’t turned on when I was out there.While I’ve never personally had their waffles, they’ve been highly recommended to me. I personally love their goat cheese sandwiches. All of their food is great!

Staff was very nice and welcoming, food was absolutely delicious (especially the smoothie), and the atmosphere is so fitting for the feel of the establishment.

I went here a few days ago to get coffee with a friend. They have a great, safe set-up, letting one person in at a time. There is a menu posted outside so you can wait and decide what youre ordering and limit your time inside which I really appreciate. The woman working was super nice. I got an oat milk latte, it was delicious!!

I like this quaint coffee shop on Regent street. Their Honey Fig + Goat Cheese Sandwich is amazing, though a little expensive. I love the waffles with Walnuts and Ghirardelli Chocolate Sauce. They are pretty popular and are really busy whenever I go there. Overall I would definitely recommend this coffee shop for their waffles and sandwiches.

Wonderful coffee, baristas and service! Cant go wrong with the Indie House Blend or the cold brew! Definitely worth stopping by and its earned its place on the top 15 best college coffee shops list in the nation.

I first went here when my friend really wanted a pistachio latte and this was the only place I found that had pistachio syrup. I don’t come here super often, but I like their lattes and flavored drinks. My friend has enjoyed their food(waffles and sandwiches) and working there, but it feels a little small for my liking. They do have a very nice patio that I’ve been to a few times. I also like the level of care they put into COVID-related restrictions (limit people ordering inside, call out your name and leave your drink at a window, no indoor seating, separate styluses for purchasing).

Ok this place is SO cute. Its one of small coffee shops that make Madison worth staying in, even in the miserable cold. Its small and the employees are friendly. The decor is artsy and cute. The pesto omelette foccacia is fantastic. The goat cheese added to it really hits it out of the park

Stellar spot - worth the hype! The latte was on point, balanced, foamed well, good pour. The golden milk latte was perfect and the fig spread sandwich was stunning. Would return here any day. Also the place itself is quite charming for a college coffee shop.

There is outdoor seating in the back! There was also a propane heater, which would have been nice in the cold - but it was not working.

I tried multiple times to get ahold of someone to ask a question. A girl answered and immediately said that they werent taking orders over the phone. I quickly told her that I just had a question and she hung up on me. Tried calling a few more times when she finally answered again. I asked if the had gluten free options. She said yes but that they are cooked next to all the regular bread. (Which defeats the purpose of gluten free bread). She gave me short, curt answers and seemed to be having a bad morning. Girl, whoever you are I hope your day gets better but next time just answer the phone. Some of just have a question to ask. Wont be going here even for coffee.

I wanted to support indie Coffee and I went to get several cups of drinks for my guys and myself. I understand that there are precautions to follow but their enforcing was done in a very unprofessional manner, making it seem like I was a burden when I was trying to make my order. I moved a bit closer to look at the menu and was immediately snapped at by a barista. After placing my order I wanted to use the restroom and was again rudely told they were closed to the public. I felt very unwelcomed and like my business was not wanted.

The staff are very polite and friendly. The coffee is good and the price is similar to what you would expect from a chain. I havent tried the food yet, but Ive heard good things about their waffles!

Dear Indie Coffee, after reading your rave reviews, this is not what Id expect from a cappuccino. I know oat milk doesnt froth as well, but an artless white mass served in a cold mug with a drip down the side? That said, it is very pleasing coffee in flavor, neither burnt nor too acidic, even if not warm enough and unfortunate to look at.UPDATE. After I wrote the above review, and received your very wonderfully sweet response below, I rescind my original measly few stars. I should have spoken up at the time. Thank you for responding, and it is fabulous to hear of your drink guarantee! It warms my heart that you read these reviews and care so much. Cheers to you!

Crispy and light buttermilk waffles are fantastic alongside a delicious cup of WI roasted coffee, they also use quality chicken in their tasty wraps and salads.

The food was good. Because of the covid paranoia had to walk around the block to sit in the patio.Seeing the owners response I understand what they are saying. That day was not a great one for me so my attitude tainted my review. Dont live in Madison however my friend who does loves this place and visits on a regular basis. I will be back when next I am in town. Came back for a second time. The food was great and the people were awesome. They greeted my friend by name and excellent in their service. Will be back.

They are still open for takeout, and the food and coffee is wonderful! I am very impressed with their online ordering system and contactless pickup. It is stress-free and so much quicker than many other places right now.

Indie Coffee is a great coffeehouse with a chill atmosphere and has very friendly and helpful staff. The decor is cute and cozy; however, it is great for groups as well as working on a laptop. The coffee is delicious and the waffle was mouthwatering good (got the original buttermilk and was very happy with my choice). I look forward to coming back to try more drink options and see what else I enjoy on the food menu. Id highly recommend this coffeehouse.

Waited 15 minutes for my smoothie while five people who ordered after me got their drinks ahead of me. Nice place with good food & drink but was a rough time waiting outside for that long.

4 words: Chocolate Chocolate Chip Waffles. They were light and fluffy, and the chocolate was divine. Its a very small, cozy atmosphere, and very interesting decor. I loved it, and have already recommended it to friends

I was looking for a nice coffee place that had good food and good coffee of course and I came across this place and it had good reviews so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try.Since it is Covid times, we placed the order online and when I was at the checkout process there was a curbside option, it even asked what kind of car we had so I entered all the info. We arrived a few minutes earlier than the time it said it was going to be ready, we waited like 20 minutes and no one brought the food to us: I called, I told them we chose the curbside option and she said: “I am sorry, we are not doing that right now we are very busy” so I had to get out of the car and wait for someone to come outside and call out my name; I didn’t mind that but it would have been nice to know about that.There were like 20-22 people waiting outside and most of them without masks and not respecting the social distance even though Indie had some rules about that posted on the window, it seemed they didn’t care at all.We had The works waffle: The few pieces I could eat were ok and I say that because by the time we got home it was very soggy, they put all the toppings on top of it. I would have liked that they put it on the side, I know they were busy but it would have taken a few seconds to do that. The strawberries tasted like if they were just thawed. I was excited to try their waffles but I ended up disappointed.Bacon, egg and cheddar bagel: it was nice but I think it needed some creamy dressing to make it even better.Cappuccino: it was tasty but my cup was half empty so unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy it longer.

If youre in the mood for something sweet, get their waffles. Theyre fantastic! I really like the ones made with chocolate batter. They also know how to make their cappuccinos dry. It does get crowded here sometimes, but theres a good reason for that!

Really tasty coffee drinks and good food. The only thing I could say I didnt like was that it felt kinda cramped. Its a small space and they fit a lot of people in there! Its clearly a popular place. There was nowhere to stand or sit that wasnt in someones way somehow.

I have been here twice, and both times the service and my beverage have been great! I highly recommend the cardamom spiced chai latte- it was great! Its a lovely place to sit and read for a bit.

I have had nothing but AMAZING experiences here at Indie. Their food and drinks are always on point- never disappoint. They have such friendly staff and coming in here to order has always left me feeling happier. Everyone should try the Monet Sunrise and Cloud-9! My husband and I have made it routine to come in on the weekends for a breakfast bagel and lattes.Also huge shout-out to their staff for keeping my credit card safe after accidently leaving it. They contacted me and had it ready when I showed up.During COVID-19, I tried some other coffee shops to cover our weekend routine since they were closed on Sundays, but nothing compares to their hand-crafted drinks. We decided to just wait until they opened back up on Sundays and were so happy when they returned to normal hours. I really appreciate their safe practice they have enforced during COVID-19 as well. Indie coffee continues to impress me!!! I am not big into sandwiches but anytime ANYONE asks me where they should try for a brunch, I recommend Indie Coffee. Their food and coffee are insanely delicious and I constantly crave the Salami focaccia or the works waffles. They are consistent with the quality of their food and I will continue to vouch for this place for as long as Im in Madison. Love, love, love this place

The shop itself is small but the cashier was sweet. The coffee was excellent and so was the waffle. I highly recommend the red n white waffle. That one made me take a nap.

Although I live quite nearby, I had never been here until yesterday. Taking a much needed break from doctor appointments all day, I found a lovely quiet oasis (I understand it probably wont be so quiet when the students return) with an excellent waffle and a frosty granita. I used to come here to study, but now that Im graduated I make special detours for their amazing cardamom lattes. The waffles are divine here as well. Wish I still lived nearby!

Marathon bagel was tasty! Big bagel, grilled red peppers, spinach, cheese put into panini press. Solid! Cold press was good. Actual cold press, not iced drip coffee.

The staff was friendly and the food came within a few minutes after I ordered. Their Chocolate Chocolate waffles are delicious and so is their Hot Chocolate! If youre looking for a place to eat some yummy food, definitely come here!

Such a wonderful place for studying. Its not too loud, and the atmosphere was great! I had coffee and food here - both of which were delicious. I cant believe Ive lived in Madison for so long and am just getting here. Ill be back.

Great place for a quick bite.

I do like the atmosphere here, really hip with thick wooden tables for small and big groups. The tables near big window have a lot of sunlight and give cozy feeling. The food here look pretty good, and the staffs are friendly. BUT I cannot recommend cappuccino here as it is not cappuccino with too much milk and bubble foam.

Love the rotating seasonal drinks. Sandwiches and pastries are also great.

Love this place! The staff is excellent, proportions are awesome, and the coffee always comes out creamy and delicious. I have yet to order something that I dont love. I suggest a salad if you want the most bang for your buck and a sandwich if you want something to indulge in. I havent tried their waffles but their dessert drinks have always come out perfectly! They never rush it but somehow they are still fast. Whatever flavor they describe the drink to be it comes out as such, not just a lump of sugar like some flavored drinks!

Great specialty lattes! Get the Haight-Ashbury latte, which to me is like a Christmas-y clove-y latte appropriate for all seasons. Honestly, as a college student 5 years ago, this is probably where I started truly appreciating the FLAVOR of coffee. Thanks, indie!

The place is interesting, I like the music and the atmosphere there. There is some small table to study which is okay for your laptop and your drink. Some tables suitable for 4 people.The drinks also are so unique and delicious. You also can order sandwich or some sweets. The place is not so big.

Healthy selection of drinks (a bit sweet though). Cafe feels a bit cramped and antiquish (despite having ample tablespace). Good to plop down and work.
