Incompetent.Public Storage bought the facility from Extra Space where Id previously been renting. When I contacted them to try to pay my rent, they said they werent set up to take payments and that Id have to wait for a notification. They then started contacting me regularly with past due notification calls. Furthermore, their contract limits the total value of items stored to half of what was allowed under Extra Space - Im renting one of their largest units to store a house worth of stuff. $5000 doesnt cover even half of the normal furniture. I dont know how youd fill a space of that size and have its value be less than that. The facility has never once been available to answer my call, even when I immediately call back after receiving a voicemail. When I call their main line, they tell me they cannot help me and that I have to speak to the facility manager. The on-site office is always vacant during posted business hours and when I leave voicemails, I just get a response back to call them back - like theyre afraid to leave an actual message.I avoided Public Space because of their reputation and stories Ive heard from people in the industry - I specifically sought out another company because of that. Now Im either stuck with them until Im done storing this stuff, or have to deal with the time and expense of moving it out and back into a different storage facility after they forcibly changed the contract on me.

Sadly new management is horrible. Raised prices immediately by a significant amount. Also required double payment when ownership transferred. This had been the perfect storage option. We now need to find another location quickly and pay to move our belongings what a hassle!!

Extremely pleased with Extra Space! The 2 people working at my storage site show integrity and professionalism. They go the extra mile for customers, and are really nice to talk to. I feel like my belongings are in a clean, safe, and (bonus points) friendly environment. 2 solid thumbs up!

Very informative and competitive rates. Only complaint I have is I thought I was getting a 5x10. I got a 10 foot unit that was four on one side and six on the other. The angle didn’t make stacking some things efficient.

I’ve rented at a few storage facilities across a few states at this point in my life, and I can say by far Andrew has offered the best customer service, and attention to detail, that I’ve experienced by far! I would rent from him again without hesitation, and probably rent from another location if he transferred there, great service and communication is priceless!

Andrew was outstanding with the way he treated us, his honesty, and courtesy. He went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs and he was very professional but at the same time caring and graceful. Andrew is the person you want to work with. My experience with Extra Space has been phenomenal. The staff, especially Andrew, were always most helpful and gave stellar customer service. The facilities were always clean, temperature controlled, weatherproof and secure. The access hours were convenient and the office hours were helpful. I downsized my unit and Andrew made the whole process easy and stress free. I always felt safe while on the premises, even at late hours while alone. The pricing was affordable and fair. I would highly recommend Extra Space to anyone for their storage needs.

NO notice of Public taking over Extra Space. This is the second time this has happened to us. We don’t like your work ethics. You raise rates way too often and the property goes to hell after the take over. And, you ended my contract today. I didn’t. To quote Billy Joel “I’m moving out”! Bye Felicia.

Andrew is great. The units are clean and secure. The process is straight forward and easy to understand.

I needed to get a storage unit to help offload some of the chaos that comes with moving. I went to the Johnson Creek location, Andrew is very personable and helpful. The whole process is quick and painless. The only downside I can see is that the ad for first month free doesnt mention the $25 for admin fees and $15 for lock and key rental (the units are only compatible with these).Even still, reasonable prices and the storage unit is very secure yet easy to access. They have to make money somehow so I dont mind paying for this service!

The manager at this location, Andrew, is great! Very friendly and helpful. The corporate offices on the other hand are not. They gave me one month’s notice to vacate my unit or accept a 75% ($75!) rent hike. I had just gotten hip surgery (I can only lift 20lbs for now) and finished a move back to the area. Massive inconvenience for me, long term customer lost for them. Bad business!

Nevermind the company, it’s all about the employees. Andrew rocks! Super kind and helpful. What Andrew says clearly comes from the heart, or maybe they are just really good at what they do. (Not knocking any other employees, just, I only talked to Andrew.)Did just read another review about theft and lack of cameras. I can confirm that there was notably very few cameras, only at the entrance. If the company cares, they should definitely put in more cameras to deter theft and help their clients file more effective police reports.

In the process of moving, downsizing and consolidating my household goods, I needed a storage unit, which turned into needing a larger unit as well. Extra Space Storage met my needs, it has a variety of sizes for storage needs, and moving supplies all in a convenient location. The faculty is well lit and has access codes for safety. Andrew, the office manager is friendly and helpful.

I had no issues; moving in was easy and when I moved out, it was easier as I hired people. There are only a few parking spaces but then was the only detriment I encountered a couple times. Continuing thefts occurring at this site.The people who work here are all very nice. The facility is new and clean, which is good. However, There were a series of thefts from units there a few months ago, and when I spoke with the manager about it, it sounded like they were going to take steps to deal with the problem. Not sure what they did, but it was inadequate. I got a second unit last month, and three days later I got a call that it had been broken into. Staff said the would look at the tapes,, but that it had probably happened on Sunday, when no one is in the office, and when lots of people are going in and out. They said they would start having security officers visit the site when the office is closed, which I thought had been done already after the prior thefts. Sooo, I moved out of my two units.Only other negative is that there are only 3 back-in loading spots for this very large facility (hundreds of units in a 4 story building). Dont plan on getting one of them right away on a weekend afternoon.

I’ve had a unit at the Milwaukie location for over a year and have been very satisfied w that decision . The place is clean and safe. Andrew, the facility manager has always provided exceptional service and is great at problem solving. For instance, I needed to downgrade to a smaller unit and he made sure he got me the best price and a unit nearest my first one so the move was an easier one. Your in good hands here!

Ive had bad experiences at other storage units with moisture and mold, and my old unit at public storage was also broken into TWICE, but Extra Space has been perfect! Ive had to use storage quite a bit over the past ten years due to the crazy rental market in Portland and moving so many times, and unfortunately the units anywhere getting broken into has been a common occurrence. The employees Ive encountered (5 total during my year renting space here) have all been VERY helpful and prompt in answering questions and offering resolutions. Andrew had to drill the lock out after my keys exploded and I could not find my unit key, and he was very professional and you could see his good work ethic in his attention to detail. I really appreciated the extra care as I have a disability and a lot of normal things are hard for me. Also, thank you guys for always being really awesome about social distancing and masking protocol!

I was moving into the area from another state and needed my goods stored for the interim. I had to choose a facility while still being in another state, which made me quite nervous. They had some really good reviews so I called and asked questions to make sure they fit my needs. The gentleman on the phone was extremely helpful and I felt confident renting a unit. I designated a friend in the area to have permission to access my unit and they were able to deliver my stuff with no issues. They only have three parking spots near the loading zone, so if it were busy you’d have to wait to access your unit unless you want to lug your stuff further. That’s a con, but the other features and pricing made up for it. They gave me a really good deal even though I was only renting for one month. The facility itself is extremely secure with a code being required to open the entry doors and again to use the elevator to the storage floors. I was very happy with the cleanliness and staff friendliness and I highly recommend this facility.

Great customer service, quick response and very helpful

I’ve had my storage space for less than two months and they called me letting me know that they found my unit without a lock and to stop by. Went to my locker with an employee, had them unlock it with the temporarily lock they had put in place, and found my stuff thrown everywhere and things missing. After I was almost convinced by the employee that I had possibly left my unit unlocked, I returned to my unit to further investigate. That’s when I found half my old lock in my locker with a hole drilled through it(pictures attached). What happened to my locker can happen to any of the 700 lockers in there. They all use the same lock. I’m in the process of filing a police report.Update: I went back to my storage unit to investigate further. Because the thieves drilled through the lock, it left gold colored drill residue on the ground under the lock. I walked around to several other units near mine. There were at least 10 other lockers that had the same residue from drilling. I even on of the broken drill bits they used. Multiple units were broken into and there are no police reports and no reviews stating such. How is this possible? I disagree that that this location cares about safety of the units. They have a camera at the entrance and no where else. How hard is it to install cameras down the aisles of the storage units? I filed a police report. The officer I spoke with was familiar with this establishment and not for good reasons. If anyone is planning on storing valuable items in their storage unit, they should reconsider.

This place was easy to set up made it easy to access storage unit which was exactly what I needed! I had to store some items for about a month while I listed my house and prepared for a move and was able to secure my unit online, create a code and access the unit without ever having to go into the office during covid. When I no longer needed the unit and was in a hurry due to the move, the office made it super easy for me to close it out and go. Would use this place again.

Andrew was AWESOME, he got me set up super quick with a larger unit and closed my grandmas existing smaller one so we could clean up her place to set up for hospice. He was incredibly kind and understanding, thank you Andrew. You rock.

The manager Andrew was such a HUGE help on my move in and very patient as I looked at 3 different units. I feel my things are very secure here as you have to use an access code to get inside the building. If you’re looking for a great storage place, this is the one to go to.

Terry was fabulous. Upbeat, high energy and you could totally tell she was smiling even under a face mask. I think she would be a great prospect for for a management position as she make people feel at ease and after sitting and waiting for the previous people to be done I can say she even handles difficult customers easily and de-escalated a situation that could have esclated quickly. I like her.

The process for signing up was a breeze! The manager, Terry, was quick to follow up with me, ask if I had any questions and her general demeanor was really pleasant and forthright. Talking with her gave me a sense of calm as this is the first time Ive ever rented a storage space. I couldnt be more comfortable with the process and contact than I was with Terry. She is an absolute asset for this company!!

I was in need of some extra space and I found the storage I was looking for. Upon arrival I was greeted by Andrew (resident manager) and immediately felt at ease and welcomed. In no time flat we were making our way throughout the building all the while as Andrew was asking me the pertinent questions to accurately assess my storage needs. I had no problems picking a unit (also easily accessible from the elevator) and we made our way back down to hammer out the details. The whole time Andrew was kind, courteous, and upfront about all the associated costs as well as any questions I had. I have gottten a unit at the Johnson Creek site. I was extremely please with the way i was treated and the prompt attention. The place is very clean also. Also very happy with the attention always paid to the security of place. The only drawback is the lack of parking. Which is ALWAYS full! I would definately reccomend to others.

Reserved a unit earlier in the week for a specific date. Kept receiving email after email about if I could get things started earlier, which I couldnt. When time came to move, a closer facility was a better fit. Received a call asking if I was still coming in, explained to the gentleman on the phone about a the closer facility and that I had decided to switch and was already done moving. Then he started to belittle me about all his emails and texts he sent and was very rude and disrespectful. Overall customer service was out the window, and i highly suggest retraining Andrew on how to communicate with customers.Would recommend going to another facility if you want to get treated like a human being.
