Overall Ive had good luck using this location 10+times since 2016. That said, I do notice the place runs quicker and more efficient when the manager is onsite. On times when hes not working the wait times at the counter can easily double or more. Not sure if the staff arent sure if their policies, or if its something else. Still, I would continue to rent from them when needs arise.
If I could give negative stars I would. I made a reservation over a month in advance and had moving help set up through uhaul. When the movers went to pick up the u-box it wasn’t ready and no one at the facility would help or get the movers the box. The people working at this location could have cared less and were unwilling to remedy the situation. Now I have no moving help and no u-box. DO NOT USE THIS U-Haul!!!!
Not sure why there are so many bad ratings for this location I have used them many times and found the manager (Ron I believe) and the other employees to be very helpful. They helped me with my trailer hitch and with the trailer throughly and quickly.

The owner, Ron, was incredibly knowledgeable, prepared and consistently kind to me despite some snags with timing that were frustrating and absolutely not his fault (AT ALL). He went out of his way to help me when I’d left a ‘key’ item in my car 12 miles away and later even called me on his own time when he noticed I had forgotten to load one small package with a bunch of framed artwork that is important to me. He made a difficult day into the best uhaul experience I’ve ever had (and seriously, I’ve had **a lot** of uhaul interactions).THANKS RON!
Rented a U-haul from here and returned it 45 minutes later. Next day I get a charge for 60$ so I go into the store and one employee took me out to the truck and proceeded to be rude as if I was trying to get over on him. The employee Zach had given me the keys to the wrong truck. The manager goes over the camera and said she couldnt find me. Calls me back 45 minutes later to say sorry and that I would get a refund... Instead I was charged even more a total of 78.24 now that has posted. No refund yet and now I have a pending charge for 54.90 again. I call U-Haul customer service and they tell me the generic thing to call my bank or wait for the refund to appear. So a 23$ u-haul rental has turned into a 130$ nightmare. This place is unprofessional, the employees are rude and Im missing 100$ during the holiday season.
I returned the car with as much gasoline as I got it. but they still charged me $ 100, and why exactly $ 100? a full tank comes out to $ 60-70, probably they took extra money for coffee and food.
Wow. Talk about underwhelming. I couldnt be more dissatisfied with U-haul. But apparently this location garners pretty bad reviews from most people. Youd think the National office would do something but, as youll see in my review, National is a sad joke too. Every time I use this place, I regret it. I only continued to try it because its literally 3 blocks from my house, so very convenient. But no more.From my first contact with national to make the reservation - I asked if there are ANY Covid safety precautions being take and the ladys response was, I really dont know. Ask at the store. Thats totally unacceptable as I have to make the reservation and PAY UPFRONT before I find out. On top of that I get a call a half hour or so before my scheduled pick up time, telling me that my truck isnt going to be at the location you promised me (and that I planned to walk to from my house) and instead is at a location, more than 10 miles away! I had made plans based on what you told me (and what I paid for - including estimated mileage which would be much more now - IN ADVANCE!) and now I had to completely cancel them. I opted instead to take a cargo van which was available at the original location (since I had no way to get to the other location!). But this meant I couldnt pick up the load of soil I had planned to get. Oh well, that was only HALF my reason for renting a truck so who cares, right?To add insult to injury, when I got to the U-haul store (on McLaughlin Blvd. near Oak Grove. Portland Oregon) to pick up the cargo van, I asked the guy if the vans are disinfected for Covid safety. His mumbled response without even looking up was, yeah. But when I got the van it was OBVIOUS that it had not been disinfected - or even CLEANED - by the amount of human hair and dirt on the seats and dashboard, etc. Fortunately, I brought disinfectant and a rag with me. (Ive done business with them before!)Also, there was a ripped hole in the floor may that was NOT shown in the pics asking me to approve of the condition of the van before I took it. Was this an attempt to make me pay for someone elses damage? I would not have thought so, but after dealing with you guys, Im not so sure...And yes, I do plan to share this review with as many people as possible. Your blatant disrespect of your customers is palpable and incredibly arrogant. Its no wonder almost all your reviews are 1 or 2 stars. Its sadly obvious that the few that are 5-star are fake!
Warning: Left my car here for 4 hours to do a trip while renting a 10 truck and front license plate was stolen.Was also charged $14 for safemove after declining it twice (once in the reservation process online and once at cash register).I give 2 stars because the people there were very polite when I went.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I called and got a trailer hitch reserved, was told to come and pick it up, and was charged for it. When I got there at my appointment time they had 8 people in line before me with one person working so I had to wait over 30 minutes, then they had no record of my reservation and the owner RON cancelled the installation appointment and they didnt have the part I needed. I went to CLACKAMAS and was helped right away and they helped me get what I needed. DO NOT RELY ON THIS LOCATION!
This is just about attempting to get propane, nothing more. Cant speak for actual uHaul services.Went inside, asked if they fill or sell propane, and the nice man behind the counter said yes, and told me to drive to the propane station onsite and ring the bell for service. Ive been sitting here for almost ten minutes now, have rung the bell multiple times, and am now leaving to find propane somewhere else.Maybe the bell is broken, but Im too immature to go find out.Extra star because I started feeling petty while writing this but have come too far to stop now.
Rented here for years. Today I was late to pick up a trailer I reserved, and learned they rented it to someone else. Manager was an absolute jerk. They had other open trailers on the lot, but he offered no alternatives. Got the trailer I needed 5 miles away at Clackamas. Never going back to the Milwaukie store.
There’s one star because that’s the lowest I can go here. (Sigh)... where to begin. Let’s start with the website. As you’re checking out they’ll tack on items like boxes or tape to the order. Moving is stressful enough without having to deal with swindlers. I’m then forced to delete these items before checkout to see my actual cost.Along with that they also like to skip out on the items you do need and paid for making your moving experience more difficult than it already is.My main concern is when bringing this up to staff and receiving assurance that you will not be charged for said items, BAM, they show up on your receipt anyway. My advice, go anywhere else. U-Haul is so desperate for money they’ll do whatever it takes to get it from you. Even, flat-out, robbing you for ten dollars. They seem to need it more than I do so good luck with that crack habit, U-Haul.

I was moving, and needed a truck fast,Uhaul had a truck ready to go upon my arrival, had it reserved for 3 days an actually found myself needing the truck another day, was so easy to work that out.The employees that worked with me were great,they made every part of the process Easy-peasy, Thanks guys!

Called to access my pod. Took several tries to get anyone to answer the phone, then a long hold time.Asked to have the pod ready for 7:00am on Wednesday, which gave them 5 days notice. Called again to confirm. Showed up at 8:00am Wednesday and the pod was still buried in the warehouse. “It will take us at least an hour to dig it out” is the reply.If you have a lot of time to waste, this is your place....
Everything was fine until I got my receipt. They charged me for 2 gallons of gas. I know I return it with the correct amount of gas. I will admit I was wrong not sticking around and going over the truck with them.Just be sure to stick around and youll be fine.I did contact them, but they didnt refund me the money for gas.
I rented a 10’ U-Haul last weekend and the odometer in the vehicle had 10 miles less on it then the work order said it did. I took a photo of this and uploaded it to the app. When I returned the vehicle I took a photo of it and uploaded it to the app, I only drove it 12 miles. They charged me 22 miles and didn’t take into account the initial uploaded photo I took showing the odometer was less than the order showed. I’m sure they scam a lot of other customers this way.
Called about Uhaul sizes and prices and they kept asking me for my credit card number, when I told the lady that I was not going to reserve one today she hung up on me. It really seems like a scam company. I wont be dealing with them.
I had a great experience here. They took care of me promptly (there was a small wait, but nothing out of control), they were courteous, and they even forgave me when I pulled a real bone-head move and locked the keys in the truck! They sent a locksmith out within the hour and there was no additional charge. Top notch!
Had an appointment to install a hitch/wiring for noon. Customer Service Rep asked that I drop off the vehicle at 11:00 because she was being trained on how to install hitches. Work was completed after 4:00PM .5+ hours to install a hitch and wiring. Absolutely pathetic
Can go into crazy detail about how rude management is at this location but if you go there you will see. Ron made my wife cry, he’s rude and for no reason. They messed up and blamed it on us. Will never use Uhaul again.
I ended up using the truck for a total of 8days. I gave 240$ in deposits. Rental cosrt 20$/day. 20x8 is 160$. So the rental should have remaining 80$ to cover mileage fees. Well. HOW THE !!!!! Do these ppl come up with I owe them 360$? These ppl are ripping off the most vulnerable and disadvantaged customers.What can I really say to despute these bogus charges? Nothing.U haul has changed. Its not the same good business. No thanks for u haul. You rip off your customers. .
Great help, best discount even more than the internet, and they went out of their way to render extra service and throw in upgrades. They bent over backwards to do anything to help us, making our long move so much easier. Everybody there was great, but Michelle in particular was the best!!!
WARNING!!!!!Dont ever ever go to the Milwaukie, OR Uhaul. The manager seems to believe its okay to allow her customers to drive across the country with no lights, refuses to refund the money spent for their wiring mistake and decides to use foul language before constantly hanging up on me while I remained calm and nice. I am a sweet person till your human compassion and professionalism goes out the door. Thanks for putting my family in danger and treating me like crap because of your own mistakes!!Please please please dont ever go here!!!! Keep your family, your money and your valuable time safe!
These people are fantastic!!! they helped me out a year ago and i was reminded of their kind and geniuine help they gave me as i am packing up and moving once again 1200 miles away. i was moving on a dime with no help and DJ got me an amazing price for the tow hitch & trailer and the woman at the front desk ( i am so sorry i cant remember her name!) was just sweet as a peach and i thoroughly enjoyed connecting with both of them. thank you for reminding me that not all corporate companies are piggies :) they really did leave a great lasting impression !
Customer service was horrible. No one greeted us, no one offered to help, and as we walked out we were then basically accused of not telling them how many boxes we had, as he rung us up one box short. When we said thanks and have a great day, we were ignored. Based on the rest of the reviews, it appears this store has some major issues. I will never return to this store again. They don’t deserve my money!
Not a service oriented company. Had three (3) appointments to have trailer harness put on the vehicle....each time no work done, as either they pushed someone else onto my appointment or told me no one would be in for hours to work on it, when I had a scheduled appointment. Manager paints the picture it is all the customers fault, will not apologize. Will not patronize.
Needed propane tank filled. Got there and rang the bell. Twice. after waiting for 10 minutes and no one came to help I went inside and was told that they dont fill propane after 5:00.

I rented a trailer and brought it back within 24hrs. Got a phone call and left a message asking if I needed it for another day. When I called back got the service center not this location. Explained that it was dropped off within the time period of 1 day. Said the manager would contact me regarding the problem. Never heard from anyone and they charged me for 2 days. A totally nightmare in getting my money back. This locations personnel needs training.

Robert, the “acting GM” who said he’s been with U-Haul for 18 years is such a poor reflection of this company! I tried to explain how I was overcharged due to a miscommunication on their end, and he was patronizing, condescending, and spoke down to me. I’ve never been so disregarded and spoken to like that in the 20+ years I’ve been a customer of theirs! I’m addition, I had to make another trip back there because the woman who processed our rental forgot to give my husband back his debit card!I will be contacting the regional manager or higher if needed to have my VALID concerns heard and addressed. Robert should NOT be an acting GM or even employed in any sort of customer service setting until he understands how to treat customers with respect. After reading some of the other reviews, it doesn’t surprise me to see all the negative comments since it all starts with the manager. If they are awful, the rest of the team will be also.They overcharge, fail to properly communicate, treat customers like dirt, make customers go out of their way, and are willing to lose a customer of over 20 years because they cannot own up to their mistakes.
Its a uhaul place. You know the deal. But Ive rented from here a number of times and never had any issues. Ive always gotten good service, the right vehicle, clean and ready to go. Its always been my go to.

Crooks.Theyll lie to you about the insurance coverage they offer, dodge your calls to the manager, claim a false return time that suits their ends, and use false names so you cannot name employees on a damage report. Youre better off hauling your stuff with your bare hands than working with these snakes.
They scheduled someone over my hitch install appointment, and forced me to move it. Times available were tight to pick up my kids from school, but they assured me the work would be done in time. 30 minutes over time they tell me they couldnt get the dirt cover reinstalled; barely made it in time to pick up my kids. No apology, no discount. I will never go back here.
Huge Uhaul rental shop. Had an electrical issue with my lights when renting a trailer. They quickly troubleshot the issue and replaced a fuse at no charge.
Counter woman Michelle was extremely rude! Accusing me and my family of stealing a trailer. Her other co-worker put the trailer on the back of the car, while I paid. There was a discrepancy with my account, so I sent my friend in. Michelle came out yelling and screaming at me. The experience was unsettling. We have always rented from them without a problem. Poor business!
What a bunch of morons called and the fist girl said no we dont have any car dollys so i looked on line and the web site said they do, called back the second person said yes we do have them i said ill be right up got there the guy said he wouldnt rent one to me because i was towing a pickup frame and 4 wheels it didnt look safe . guess you can tow the whole junk car but not a frame to be restored. dont waist your time these incompetent bozos!
Not a great experience. Got there at 7am for a self check-in process. When the app gave us the truck number assigned to us we find it blocked in by another truck. Spent an 1.5hrs on the phone with customer service, Deandra from U-Haul call center was very sweet and tried so hard to help us. She called the general manager several times and couldnt get a hold of them, she tried calling the area President and couldnt get a hold of them either. Finally at 8:38 some staff started to show up. I was informed they didnt open till 9. When I told him my problem he walked away without saying anything, moved the truck blocking us in and walked away again without saying anything. Deandra said she work on getting us a credit for all the trouble we went through. I mean our movers where waiting for us over an hour, and we still had to pay for their time while we got no work out if them because of U-Haul. Depending if Deandra can help us will determine if we use U-Haul again. But I doubt Ill even use this branch again. The manager has our number, a call to apologize for the crappy service they gave us would be a start. Gone are the days of a customer service minded company.

Just stared at iPhone a minute then walked to printer and threw out estimate on the counter for me to sign and refused to even look at car with me to show me the mounting location or wiring connection info. I have rented trailers and trucks multiple times over the years and have had two hitches installed. Good service, friendly, and have been very helpful.
Equipment barely ran, and if you use this place. Keep close watch on your bank account. They will try and charge twice.

Ordered a hitch to be installed, they stripped out the mounts and said there was nothing they can do about it. Now I have to pay someone else to fix what they did.
