Went in on Labour day and only one person working at the front (taking orders and making drinks) and another as the server. wait was not too bad, and we waited a while for our food. the waffles were pretty decent, but i found the whipped cream and sugar way too sweet. would want to try a savoury option next time.
Hands down one of the best cafes in this neighborhood!Ive all positives for this one.1) wifi has an amazing speed and I was able to easily work.2) Best waffles, tried out strawberry cheesecake and the naughty waffle. Both were amazing.3) Iced latte was amazing as well.4) vibe is really good and customer service is top notch.
The food and drink tasted great and the place is really nicely decorated as well! It was slow so everything came out pretty quick for us too. It’s a good place to hang out with your friends and chat. However the service wasn’t the kindest and was pretty short with us. Besides that everything was alright and the waffles were good as well as the lavender lemonade. So overall, I would come back here but I would be a bit wary of the staff.
Now that Ive moved out of the Cities, I still think about this place and long for when I can visit again. The service is great, the atmosphere inside is awesome, but most of all the waffles are to die for. I usually go with the Naughty Waffle, but my friends have gotten some of the other waffles so I know theyre all delicious. After coming here once, youll dream about coming back!
Worst coffee Ive ever had from a restaurant. Ordered a black coffee, it looked weak/clear, and tasted like 4 beans brewed the entire pot. Also claimed they were out of bananas, which is fine, lots of good waffle options, but then plates were coming out with bananas after I got my waffle. Yeah, not about it.
We thought it was great! Order at the counter, find a place to sit, wait for them to bring you your food when ready. Nice selection of hot and cold drinks. Waffles were excellent!
This was by far the best waffle I have ever eaten. Ordering for pick up was quick and easy. The Naughty Waffle with blueberry, banana, Blueberry, whip and gramcracker crumbs was amazing. Even Cappuccino w/oatmilk and caramel shot was delicious 😋. I pulled out my car tray and pulled up to a park to eat this, I couldnt even wait until I got home. They were busy but still had great customer service; The front clerk was answering questions on the phone, helping and fixing to go orders and still managed to give me a friendly greeting, very impressive. I am full with out the fatigue and can still get on woth my day. I highly recommend!
Its a humid 89 degrees and the person behind the counter gave me a fan for my child who was sleeping because it was so hot and a longer wait.Hands down will always support this place. What an amazing human. The waffles are good too!
All day, Great coffee. Great waffles. Great tea. What else could you need?
Cute little place for obviously waffles and coffee. They also have tea and daily rotating lemonade drinks to enjoy as well. I got the strawberry cheesecake waffle and it was absolutely delicious! If youre obsessed with strawberry cheesecake like me, I definitely recommend this waffle! I forgot to take a picture but it was big! Also got a hot berry tea and it was tasty and aromatic. Parking may get a little challenging especially if you are terrible at parallel parking but if youre lucky, you can get a good spot right in front.
Best place in dinky!! went there for the first time and am officially obsessed. Highly recommend iced chai latte and apple strudel waffle, both were the best Ive ever had! Definitely coming here again :)
Coffee was good, but there was a hair in my meal so I couldnt finish my waffle. Experience ruined..the waffle tasted good.
Great service today. Got a Fat Andrew GF and the presentation was outstanding! Done perfectly and the fruit was full of flavor. Thank you made my lunch a great experience.
I came with 4 of my friends and we all got different waffles. The waffles were delicious. The syrup was good too. However, it was really hot in the building. The thermostat said 84°!! And our waffles came out at different times, so some of us were done eating before others got there waffles.
Pretty good! I’ve always preferred waffles over pancakes. There are sweet and savory options.
The waffles are really good. Since the place is always busy and there are never seats open, you kind of have to hover over other tables and pressure them to give up their seats which can lead to uncomfortable situations for both sides. 4 waffles took about 30-40 minutes to come out, seems sort of unreasonable because they were pretty simple orders. Approx $8 per waffle seems a little excessive, but they were really good and can understand the need to have high prices since theyre a small business.
We went here to get coffee, and there was only one person working. We had to leave in a rush, and our coffee wasn’t ready after 20 minutes. We called and asked if we could get replacements, and they were incredibly rude about it. I understand that costs money, however, I PAID the money, and didn’t get my coffee, and when I did want it after a few hours, they were sassy and rude over the phone and weren’t willing to make replacements. Overall, spend your money somewhere else. It’s a cute place, but it’s not worth the cost or dealing with the understaffed and poorly trained employees.
Fast, fresh and yummy. Servers are all super sweet and location is really cute.
I got a cheesecake waffle for my husband and he said it was the best waffle he has ever had. My apple waffle was also very good. I didnt care for the coffee but I dont have a refined taste for coffee and am used to the mixed dessert drinks from dunken/starbucks so it might be still be good to the coffee aficionados
Disappointing. Ate there September 15 during a local power outage. Waffle tasted as though it had been reheated -- rubbery and tasteless. Coffee was bitter and also tasted leftover.
Decent waffle, coffee order was wrong, long wait for the food, and that was pretty early before the line was way out the door. Fine place.
The staff are SUPER rad - they were nice, and approachable, helpful, and relatable. And the food is great. Today it was PHENOMENAL. I had their strawberry cheesecake waffle (which Ive had before) because I love it. I also ALWAYS enjoy their Evening in Missoula tea; its the perfect blend of my two favorite flavors: honey and peppermint. There is a really wonderful hint of mint flavor that is mulled a bit by the more Savory flavors in the tea. Its a wonderful experience. They also give it to you in a cup that is easily transitioned into a to-go cup with caps they provide on the wall along with additives for your hot beverages. I love that they include Sugar on the Raw.P.S. Dog lovers/owners, please come visit!! I got to pet a five month old puppy today, and Ive seen other dogs there! Well behaved pups are welcome here!
Nice place, staff is helpful and so nice.Only thing I didn’t like is that I had to wait 30 minutes for just 1 waffle with banana. And 35 mins for an iced latte. 🤐Is not a big order and place was not even full.Other than that food is delicious! Kinda expensive $18 for just 1 waffle and an iced latte but well, nice environment.
The waffles were delicious and the staff was friendly, the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because of the amount of flies that were inside the shop. It was a bit gross but I would definitely come back to get some waffles, to go. Cute place and it wasnt busy when we went on a weekday around noon.
Saw this place on Uber eats breakfast list and thought I’d check it out. We’re from Florida so we’re new to the restaurants in the area. Unfortunately the waffle was straight terrible. You guys need to take into consideration of adding a little bit of soul in it. It was flavorless and not thoroughly cooked. The pictures make the waffle look great but when you actually take a bite it’s not good at all. My wife had a waffle with strawberries and bananas. The fruit wasn’t even fresh. Adding extra powdered sugar etc doesn’t do the waffle any justice. Add some sugar Or cinnamon in your batter and your customers would be satisfied. Waist of money 😞
Got there 30 min after opening because we were afraid of a long wait. There was no wait, but thats not an indication of quality. Ordered at the counter then sat down. Despite only one woman working, and her facing a couple technical hiccups with the register, our drinks and food came out quickly, and everything was delicious! This is the sort of high quality hole-in-the-wall type place that is becoming popular, and Im not mad about that!
We were very excited to try this place and dined in this morning. We were seated in a way in which we could see the preparation of the food and noticed the employee preparing it had long hair which wasn’t tied back or contained in a hair net. This person was continuously touching their face (under their mask) and phone, without washing hands before going back to prepare food (and touching the waffles with bare hands). This would make us uncomfortable under a normal setting, but especially with the ongoing covid pandemic. We asked for and we’re graciously granted a refund for our food. We enjoyed the cold brew coffee and hope they improve the food prep conditions.
Best gluten free waffle in the history of western civilization!
Had a great time and very cute place to go! It was a little bit of a wait to order and then wait to receive food but only because they were so busy!! Which isn’t a bad sign! I had a regular waffle with strawberries and whip cream and it was great! My friend got a chocolate chip waffle with strawberries and whip cream and she loved hers as well! They have a ton of seating (pre covid) and it was overall a great time!! Great little experience while in Minneapolis!!
Quaint an quiet! The size of the breakfast options cannot be beat! Everything on the menu is completely amazing and hand done! Perfected just to how one should want! The establishment is clean an small so with everything going on (covid wise) so it’s very safe an comfortable! I definitely recommend this setting for a nice breakfast!
We got there at 11 am; which is good brunch hour, and they were late, forgot our order, and then messed up the order. Black coffee and Waffles I guess lolAfter ordering at 11 a.m., I finally asked at 11:35 if they were going to make the waffles. I told them my order number and they remembered me ordering . They couldnt find the order, so I retold them the order. At that point, we had only planned to stay there about an hour and they said it would take an additional 15 minutes to make the waffles. I asked for the to-go containers and she seems slightly apologetic that they forgot, and it took so long.I ordered the fat Andrew, which is supposed to be full of bananas peanut butter and cinnamon. The picture is what I received (note, my date felt bad and gave me those two bananas on there). HahaThey didnt really seem to care the first time so we just left. The other waffle was perfect that I ordered and I had a bite of that in that tasted really well. Maybe it was an off-day.Other than that, street parking is close to the location so you can usually find something if their parking lot is full. It is a very nice atmosphere and conveniently located so theres that. The cooks and other staff seem Pleasant and everyone there seemed to enjoy themselves.Update: they refunded the transaction and apologized
Ordered online and take 30 minutes more than the original pick up time. The dude in front has problem hearing unless you talk super loud like rest of Minnesotans
Took 10 minutes for a latte and over 30 for a waffle. The kitchen was disgusting, the walls had a layer of yellow grease, and the lights were dimmed yellow, either from the sheer amount of grease or because they didnt want customers seeing the abysmal state of the kitchen. There was a grungy guy working with long hair and no hair-net who kept touching his hair and phone then handled waffles with his bare palms and no gloves.Im surprised a health inspector hasnt shut this place down, and I feel sorry for those who unknowingly eat such disgusting food.
Super cute atmosphere, the waffle was pretty basic in quality.
Got coffee and a waffle. Woof!
Good food, we ordered online and the order wasnt marked complete for 45 minutes. We finally had to call in and turns out it had been ready but they never marked it on the website. By the time we picked up the waffles were cold and soggy. It was still ok. 6/10
They were polite to say the least. Both my an my gf waffles are burnt. Mind u I stay across the park. Pics to follow... the girl who answered the phone when I called was rude an couldnt tell me if or when a manager or supervisor would b in. She was snobby and I love this place but u just lost big time!
Not even an hour after they open and staff are extremely passive aggressive and in poor moods, I simply called for a pickup and was given the most toxic responses to simple is order for ____ ready? The waffles arent worth $8+ regardless, just make your own unless youre the classic cliche friend group who needs to go to semi-boujee atmospheres to feel special about yourselves
Way over priced.
Delicious waffles. Great combination of toppings. Very busy and took forever to get our waffles. Im sure it takes a while to make every waffle individually with love. We did get our drinks right away, so my daughter and I took advantage of the long wait time, sat on the comfy couch and chatted about school. Very limited menu, pretty much just a variety of waffles and coffee.
I was really excited about coming here. I mean, a place dedicated to waffles-- how could you go wrong? In short, this place made me feel like a cranky old curmudgeon.First impression: oh great the line is out the door and we order at the counter. Ok well it seems like seats are opening up at least. I was surprised that there were not more food options or even varieties of waffles. I guess you could build your own but... anyway. We each order a waffle and a coffee. I got my coffee right away and shuffled over to a counter to put in cream and sugar. The coffee was.... barely drinkable in my opinion. My companions cappuccino wasnt much better and took a long time. While we waited, our eyes started burning from all of the smoke building up. Ventilation did not seem to be a consideration here. As I looked around I noticed the clientele was mostly college aged. Made sense with the location. The music was pretty loud and seating was crowded. We eventually got a spot at the counter. The counter didnt stick out far enough, so when our waffles arrived we had to awkwardly lean over, which wasnt made easier with the janky old stools. The waffles themselves looked nice enough. I got smores and she got the ham. We both agreed they were just ok. We ate quickly so as to reduce the amount of time we were exposed to the smokiness. To top off the whole experience we then had to bus our own dishes. So yeah, not worth the wait or the $30+ we spent. Now get off my lawn!
Multiple times I’ve gone here and discovered their coffees are all 25% smaller despite having 10% higher prices than other local places. Today was the last straw. I got the cheapest coffee- plain black- and was given a cup HALF the size of a regular coffee. The cardboard sleeve doesn’t even fit because it’s too long. They either need to fix their sizes or clearly advertise with a sensible explanation. If this is fancy artisan coffee, it doesn’t seem any different and it’s not worth it. Just a rip off, especially without communication. Last time I’m going here.
Tldr: Inconsistent, inadequate service, but cute interior if you arent coming for the food. Our group ordered five waffles, including three Fat Andrews. The first three waffles came out promptly and were fine. The last two never came out. After twenty minutes, we asked the barista. He didnt immediately apologize and ask how to fix it, he just asked what two waffles were missing. He was clearly annoyed, as he never made eye contact with me and left the conversation as soon as I responded with the waffle name. It took another ten minutes for one of the waffles to be brought out, and the final waffle didnt come out until after the former had been eaten. Unfortunately that fifth waffle was my waffle, and I was again offered no apology or for the charge to be removed. I asked for it to be refunded, the barista said okay and walked away. At this point we had been there for over an hour for a simple breakfast, so I never got my refund. $29.36 for two waffles and two drinks- not worth it.The Fat Andrew waffles were all different. The first one to come out was covered in bananas and had peanut butter dripping down the edges. The second had 8 pieces of banana, which covered maybe half of the waffle. The peanut butter was concentrated in the center, causing a tasteless outside and a super soggy interior. The third was similar to the former. The waffles themselves were okay. Ive had better, and Ive had worse. Definitely not worth the $10, but the atmosphere is cute and trendy.Moving on to the drinks. I ordered a chai latte, my partner ordered an iced vanilla latte. My drink wasnt hot- it was luke warm when I picked it up from the counter. It also just tasted like cinnamon water, which would be fine if I hadnt paid $5 for it. The latte didnt have vanilla in it, but the coffee flavor itself was delicious.Lastly, my flip flops kept sticking to the floor. And not an annoying tackiness - actual stuckness. Multiple timesI moved my foot, only to have my flop left behind. The amount of force I used picking up the flop actually broke the plastic strap. I mean, fine, they were $3 flops, but the floor should not be sticky enough to make walking break my shoes. Serving maple syrup doesnt excuse that, mop the floors.Overall, very frustrating.
Built my own waffle thought it was delicious.
I am rating this highly because I feel this location desperately needs a good breakfast location and a good coffee shop and this place sort of accomplishes both. All of their waffles come with a sugar rush just to warn you. If you are pre-diabetic, this is not the place to be! If this place had at least one healthy waffle on the menu (if that isnt some kind of oxymoron) Id rate it higher.
Paid $10 to get a burnt waffle that didn’t include the syrup and $7 for a 10 ounce dirty chai that didn’t have the milk or the espresso in it. Horrible experience!!!
The coffee here is SO GOOD! Waffles are offered with several combinations or you can create your own. Most options naturally lean toward the sweet, but there is one savory with ham and cheese, which is what I had. Honestly, it was ok, nothing to travel across town for, but nice to have in the neighborhood. Seating is very close and crowded.
Ive been to this location 3 times and have never been disappointed. The waffles are delicious! Most recently, I visited on a Tuesday evening around 5 oclock in the evening, and the woman at the front register was absolutely amazing! Brianna made my experience completely worthwhile!!! She was the so friendly and sweet to my friends and I! She seemed to truly enjoy her job and she went above and beyond our expectations. Keep up the good work, Brianna, you rock!!!
Fresh ingredients, yummy waffles. Prepare to wait a bit during busy brunch times. Low key vibes
Waffle Cheesecake so so so delicious and Meli coffee
Exactly as described, coffee and waffles! Sweet and savory choices. For those who aren’t into coffee they make really good hot chocolate.
We ordered to go. It wasnt a too long of a weight considering they were busy. Our lattes werent correct, and the waffles were soggy. Very disappointing 😔
The waffles and coffee were delicious. They have a wide variety of waffle toppings and a lot of unique coffee flavors too. It was extremely hot in there, my glasses were actually fogging up from the heat inside and it was only about 70 outside when we went. At first there was not any where to sit. Once a spot opened at the bar we grabbed it but one of the stools sank every time you sat on it. We then moved to a booth when that opened up but there was not enough cushion and we ended up sinking in that too.
A bit overpriced, but the food is great. The toppings are all fresh and plentiful. Also, be aware this is not a full service restaurant. No wait staff and you bus your own dishes. I knew all of this going in, so my experience was great
A bit underwhelming in terms of waffle taste/size to pricing but great place for breakfast nonetheless. The coffee drinks are amazing here though. the staff is impeccable and very friendly.
Suuuper embarrassing that there are no vegan options here yet
Ordered an apple cinnamon waffle. It was ok, the little pieces of apple were hard and lacked flavor, not crisp, tart, or sweet. The waffle had too much cinnamon for us. The kicker - no ice cream; theres no freezer on the premises. Apparently the St Paul location has ice cream, but not this one. Whipped cream was nice, but the overall experience lacked something. Staff were good. Nice environment to chill and chat with friends. Cant comment on the coffee.
Baristas were terribly slow. I waited over 35 minutes for a simple mocha and the restaurant was like half full. Plus the winter tea latte was excessively sweet. The floor was sticky and gross, and it wasnt even that busy! You can tell this branch is run by underexperienced undergrads!
This is one of my favorite places to study. The shop is not very large, but I rarely have trouble finding a place to sit. While I have not tasted any of their menu offerings, the smell of waffles can be very motivating when doing work. Black Coffee and Waffle Bar, Ill come visit anytime.
Great people and a phenomenal tea selection. The atmosphere is rich with quality conversations most times I come in; its been one of my favorite places to read a book for years
I had the naughty waffle $9.50 with a small mocha. I enjoyed it! My waffle was yummy and my mocha was hot like I wanted it. The portion is pretty good. Big enough that I couldnt finish it. lol. The price is a little high, but.. it was worth it. The employees were friendly. Scenery is nice. Perfect place for a breakfast date or a Girls Breakfast/Lunch date. Downside is the place is a bit small & they only had one bathroom for women and men.
I love to support local businesses and ended up here because I was desperately craving waffles. Their coffee was so acidic and bitter that I couldnt even finish it (though I do drink it black). Their waffles are decent at best. I will look at investing in my own waffle maker with the golden malt waffle mix because I honestly like that better.
