A wonderful coffee shop! The staff is friendly, the space is green and vibrant, and all the coffee drinks I’ve tried have been fantastic. Conducive space for getting remote work done!
Drinks are cool and creative. Love them! Nothing matches the Smoke and Mirrors latte. Dangerously delicious
They create wonderful drinks. As someone who doesnt drink coffee, this is one of my new favorite places - they have so many interesting teas and herbal concoctions that are almost a little more medicine than they are beverage - in the best way. Last time I was in I had a very hard time deciding, and after I bought a full-size of one drink, they sent me off with a mini version of the other one I wanted so I could taste test. Seriously, it made my entire day. In these strange times where I can no longer sit in coffee shops its so nice to stop in somewhere, even for a few minutes, thats cozy and simple. 5/5, 10/10.
UPDATE: excited! Milkweed is open for business. They have in walk up window where you can grab any of the drinks they serve. Go do itGot to pop in for a quick coffee and chat with the owners. The coffee is delicious, and the new place is BEAUTIFUL! Love the new layout, the new color schemes, and the new wood work are GORGEOUS. I am looking forward to this being a regular hangout again!
First time going in and I got a specialty latte. I added an extra shot and it came out to be 9 dollars plus I tipped 1 dollar. Way to expensive!! I didn’t particularly enjoy the flavors either.
Super nice staff and interesting drinks for those who might want something other than their (very good) coffee. I love the Rosemarys Baby. Its unique and delicious.
Good Hot Coco and local feel.
Drinks are pretty good! Its unfortunate that their lines are so long but I dont think adding a second employee would help them since only one complex drink can be made at a time. Oh well, Ill just have to remember to stop by when Im not on a schedule.
Cute little neighborhood coffee shop with lots of dairy milk alternatives
I’ll admit, I was sad to see Blue Moon go. But it’s pretty awesome seeing some of the former Blue Moon employees here. And the mocha is better. And it’s still the same space. I’m excited to be able to study there again someday.
Great custom Coffee. I specifically like the Pollinator.
Got the milkweed latte. Very tasty. Also very quick service. Highly recommend!
Some of the best coffee you can get in MPLS
I got the lady of the lake latte and this is wild with flavor! Great spot to check out if you want to try something a bit more unique than your regular latte!
Wonderful neighborhood coffee shop! The drink options have grown to include many speciality tea drinks. As a tea drinker, I’ve enjoyed their London Fog and Comb the Desert. The tea is flavorful and strong with a tasty amount of lavender and/or honey. Im looking forward to trying more of their teas and toddies.Their chai is more subdued in flavor and not spicy. For this reason, I would not order it again. My partner typically orders a mocha. He says, they are unfortunately inconsistent in quality. Some days they are pleasantly rich and frothy and others they are watery and grainy. Unless you specify otherwise they come topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips, which resembles a Starbucks Frappuccino. The good days are worth paying for but the bad days leave much to be desired. There are great dairy-free options and coffee beans for purchase. There are also thorough safety measures in place, including a walk up window and mask enforcement.Definitely worth visiting and trying!
Specialty coffee and tea, nice plants, great service
Average coffee shop. Needs better seating as in more comfortable. Came to read and I might have just as well sat on the floor. Will go else where till they get better sofa and chairs. On the other hand, Great ART.
This place is great! If you need to eat gluten free their baked goods and quiche are awesome, and safe. It you don’t need to eat gluten free, you would never know it’s gluten free. Coffee is very good too. You can even get a latte with almond milk!
Wonderful neighborhood place to grab a coffee/tea while out on a walk with a friend.
One of my favorite shops in the Twin Cities for sure. Innovative ingredients and menu in a phenomenal storefront. Plenty of seating and tranquil atmosphere perfect for working on your own, meeting a friend or acquaintance, or chatting up the friendly baristas. 10/10; A++
Alex and Brenda, the new owners, have given this neighborhood coffee shop a very refreshing facelift. They both have a canny eye for art and style, and it shows in all the details. The drinks are varied, highlighting several original and hand crafted flavor combinations and ingredients. Their original drinks are pretty, delicious, and cleverly named. The back of the shop boasts one of the best kids areas (second only to Sovereign Grounds kids area, which is an entire room...) Ive seen in a coffee shop. Theres a record store next door, so coffee and a wander through vintage records is a nice weekend outing.
The entire cafe is gluten-free. They make a lot of their own baked goods in house and they are some of the best gluten-free baked goods Ive ever had. They also have a few items from Sift including their donuts which are also fantastic. Its a pretty quiet place in general. The owners are super nice. The drinks are great and the wifi is steady. What more can you ask for?
I had their vanilla chai and it was absolutely delicious 😋
It gets harder and harder to like this place each time I go. A few weeks ago, I showed up, and they were just randomly closed with a paper sign on the door. On the times when I have gotten a drink, service has been quite slow. Today I waited in line behind three other customers for at least five minutes. Nothing happened, no orders were taken, and no one moved. If they are going to be a pass through coffee shop, they need to get orders made much more quickly so that people are actually passing through.
Milkweed is a cool place! The vibe is chill and they have a rotating specials menu with unique drinks. Check out the pastries, theyre made fresh every day
I love this place it is so close to my house! Great coffee and great tea. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.
Pollinator beverage has turmeric and bee pollen and tastes amazing. Wonderful gluten free treats, like the goat cheese and strawberry scone. Nice plants, too.
Ordered a black coffee which was well roasted and perfectly brewed. We also had a chai latte which was made from a locally produced concentrate (i.e. goop) and Assam tea. It was very good. There is a nice selection of bakery items as well. Nice atmosphere with a small kiddie area with toys in the back of the shop. The adjacent vinyl store is a bonus. Above all else, their drinks and eats are high quality!
Delicious coffee and really cool atmosphere
Great coffee and food.Gluten free options are available.Lots of tea and nut milks also.
A bit rude. For being the only customers we felt like an inconvenience to the barista. Won’t be returning.
Great place. Great drinks. I recommend the...switchel (sp?). I cant wait till we are all safe in the world and can go back to AMAZING neighborhood spots like yours––you guys the best.
Carrying on the cozy tradition of the Blue Moon Cafe that preceded it while adding new treats and a selection of foods. A great neighborhood spot.
I was so sad when the Blue Moon closed. So sad. But we must weep no more! The revamp of the coffee shop in this space is OVER THE TOP. Classy space, great coffee, great gluten free baked goods. Great space!
Holy cow. Just tried the baked goods for the first time. Im in tears! I have been celiac for 7 years and have never had a donut so good 😭😭😭😭 it was soooo moist and satisfying. Not dry or crumbly like so many other GF things can be.Also I just picked this up using their takeout window because we are mid-pandemic. They are taking all the precautions and I feel very safe eating here
Super sexy plants all over, killer art, gluten free baked goods from Sift, and lots of compostable products. How delightful. Great neighborhood coffee spot.
Great unique coffee
This place is magic. Always a treat.
They have really good coffee, but they have a $5 card minimum, meaning it makes no sense to go if you just want a coffee. Like i only go there if Im getting more than one thing or coffee for more than one person.
Theres a variety of seating, and the place is really cleaned up! But three stars for have pricey snacks and coffee drinks in that area. And right now, everything is only in one size, as far as I seen. I also find that their coffee is about a dollar more expensive than most places I go to, including dogwood Cafe which is just a few blocks away. I hope that changes, and I hope they get cheaper snacks.
Gluten free heaven! So many great options for baked goods and snacks. Good coffee too!
Friendly staff, great food- quiche is always delicious. Great teas
Love the vibe. Good coffee and pastries. Will be returning.
Bright, clean, comfortable. Friendly staff. Everything youd want in a neighborhood coffee shop. The coffee was great and their GF gingersnap cookies are the best Ive ever had. Bravo!
My two-year old played happily with the provided toys for nearly 2 hours!
Play area, decent coffee, plenty of parking and seating, lots of outlets (power strip in the back), and good service.
Love the work thats gone in to the new place - and love the socially conscious and responsible sourcing. Thank you for bringing these values in to your shop!
So glad to have this bright, clean, updated, new coffee cafe to replace the Blue Moon in the neighborhood.
Great food and beverage choices, excellent service! Quick and flexible.
Owner assured me two times that everythings a 100% gluten free, Food and drinks. Nice little cafe with a celiac owner. We got a muffin and panini that were tasty. We wouldve bought more food if they had more hot sandwiches or something.
Over-priced coffee and the baristas are nasty, judgemental, and mean. This one barista served me while she was texting away on her phone.
Sweet space, calming, friendly local owners/staff! Creative beverages/snacks.
I love that they have gluten free bakery items, and plant based milks.
Is a nice clean space always calm
I am still shaking from how terrible my experience was. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at any coffee shop or restaurant in general in all of Minneapolis. My partner and I had ordered two oat milk cappuccinos, and the barista mentioned that due to it being a homemade oatmilk, it doesnt froth as well if thats what we were looking for, so she recommended the lattes instead and so we went with that.We got our coffee, and it was extremely bland and watery. It was just overall not worth the $6 dollars we payed for each drink. We returned to the store and asked for a refund telling her we didnt like it. She said Well I told you so. I was in shock. I had never been treated that way when asking for a refund and showing my displeasure with a purchase.I calmly explained how that was not an excuse for us being unsatisfied. If their coffee was bad, thats no reason to refuse someone a refund if they are unsatisfied. She then told said Calm down, Im getting you a refund. Ive never had to do this before so let me figure it out. At this point I was shaking with shock. I just couldnt believe we were being treated this way.I asked to see a manager because this barista was being so incredibly rude to us, and she left to go see if the manager was here. She came back and said she wasnt and offered us a gift receipt, which I turned down because I no longer ever wanted to return to Milkweed Coffee at this point.Frustrated, she said Fine, you can just take all my tips! And handed me a 10 dollar bill. When I told her I didnt want to take her tips, I just wanted a refund, she said Well, I dont know how, so its not my problem. We were so incredibly shocked. I took the ten as she was not going to give me my money back the proper way because no one had trained her to give a refund and we left.I am still just completely appalled. I cannot believe this place is even in business. Avoid it at all cost. This was the worst customer service experience in my life.
Really good coffee shop! Minimal, but still homey, good wifi and outlets on exterior of the inside. MN local goods, CBD, kombucha, single bathroom (i.e. all gender friendly), nice staff, vegan + gluten free baked goods.
I really wanted to like this place, but its disappointed me every time Ive been in. Slow service, sometimes rude. Ive given up.
Great coffee, delicious gluten-free pastries, a relaxed ambiance, and many different seating options.5/5
Excellent coffee, interesting specialty beverages, kind owners, super chill vibe. Everything a coffee shop should be!
The Kimchi and smoked Gouda panini was most delicious.
Revamped space is great, coffee and food offerings are well thought out and high quality. Neighborhood asset!
Great Coffee & Good Vibes ☆
Great neighborhood coffee shop!
Warm and inviting spot!
Best iced tea ever!!
They have bulletproof coffee 🔥❤ #keto friendly staff. Will be back
Strong coffee
Another Great Lake Street Strong spot that came through the uprising and Pandora Pandemic with flying colors. Positive vibes, wonderful local place that warms my heart! Walking or driving by over the last year, I so hoped they would reopen. Now I smile knowing I can stop by, hang out or just people watch; and see neighbors, friends or visitors enjoying this space together.
