Message from current owners, posted on website:It is with much thought that we have decided to close our doors for now on July 31st so that we can take some time to reassess the future of the Riverview Cafe and Wine Bar.This past year has brought extreme challenges and obstacles but has also has been a time for deep reflection. We are forever grateful to the Longfellow community, our friends far and wide and our incredible Staff. You have supported us in the beginning, through COVID, daily at the cafe and lately in the sun on our patio at the wine bar.We are very grateful for all of your support and we will keep you posted about our future.We love this corner and believe what ever the future holds it will be great!!

Have been coming here for years. Great wine, great servers and great food. Parking can be tough with the theater across the street, but this place is worth it. Love coming here before a movie.the desserts are worth a stop even if you don’t like wine. They also offer beer.

Been frequenting this cafe ever since moving to the neighborhood and even more so after hearing they were struggling post pandemic. Unfortunately, our experience last Saturday morning made us decide we werent coming back.Upon entering, we noticed we were the only customers inside, the vibe was tense as if we were inconveniencing them. The gentleman who helped us remained straight faced and serious throughout the entire transaction despite thanking him repeatedly, smiling, being friendly and even tipping generously. At no point did he break character, no smile, no thank you, nothing.To make matters worse, the hot chocolate we ordered had no flavor, it was just hot milk and I almost swallowed a big piece of egg shell that was in the pumpkin bar.

I love this place! So sorry to see you guys go 😥 If you guys decide to sell off some of that wine inventory, I would love to buy a case or 2 or 3😉

They are always so friendly and my coffee is always perfect. The prices are very reasonable. A great spot to sit and enjoy the day.

Good coffee. Different hours were posted on the website than if you telephoned and on the door. We ended up having to leave. Wont go back.

Two words: wine flites. If that’s not enough to get you in the door at the Riverview Cafe then go for the tasty food and ambiance. Great place to hang out with friends. And good news, there’s a parking lot in back (albeit a bit small). Friendly staff as well.

Riverview is fantastic. We come all the time for the superb wine selection and great food. Our favorite is the Cesar salad with salmon! The patio is dog friendly in the summer too.

Riverview Coffee Shop is one of a kind. Amazing owners who are dedicated to the neighborhood. I can’t say enough nice things about this place. Fantastic wine bar attached run by the same owners.

Clean, Uber cozy, childrens play area, cozy nooks. Special call out for friendly service. Food not bad too and coffee drinks excellent.

I absolutely love this place. I often stop on my way to work for a pastry. I have yet to be disappointed! Very inexpensive and absolutely delicious.I recently tried their crustless quiche; parmesan cheese, bell peppers and spinach if I recall (maybe onions). Although I dont remember exactly; I DO remember it being delicious. Though they would have heated it up, I brought it to work and ate it cold; it was divine.The staff are ridiculously friendly and kind.The live music in the evening is a wonderful experience as well, tho Im usually just walking by on my way home, its been lovely.I stopped on the way to work the other day and learned they are closing at the end of this month, which is just heartbreaking. Wishing them the best and thankful for all the joy and nourishment theyve brought to my mornings and the community.

I love this place. It’s got a casual, hip atmosphere, and there are plenty of couches to choose from. It’s also big enough where you can go with a medium size group and not feel like you’re taking up the whole place. The Nutella hot chocolate is amazing. Please go experience this for yourself!

This is my neighborhood and this gem of a place is a staple. I could write a review each time I go but how many times can I say this place is great. If I were up on it, it could be weekly or more. Just had the mussels, killer grill cheese and tomato soup. That soup really wow’d me. Nothing like it.

Love this place, been gone for 2 years and it has only improved since then. Ten times out of ten, I will always recommend hanging out here. Its chill and relaxing. Perfect for whatever, they even got a little toy/play area for kids. Keep it up guys!

My sandwich was terrible.. bread is soggy..22 dollars for 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches .. I want my money back for the hassle of the junk sandwich. I got burned two ways .

We have always wanted to try Riverview Coffee Shop and Wine Bar and we are so glad we did. We had to get our order to go due to covid and we cant wait to be able go back and dine in, when the time comes. The food was delicious- perfectly done mushroom/swiss burger and the chicken bacon pesto pizza looked too pretty to eat (but my husband did and loved it). If you havent been here, you should change that!

Riverview Wine Bar deserves a sixth star. Outstanding staff, excellent food, and a collection of wines that will make anyone happy. The staff knows the wines and is happy to help you find the right one. If youre still not sure, get a flight or two. The food is always wonderful. Always a daily special, always a burger of the day, and both are always good. Cant recommend Riverview Wine Bar enough.

What I like best about this place is the seating. They have a variety of options to meet different needs. Quiet couches in the back corner are great for small meetings, a relaxed center seating arrangement offers a great place for study groups or those meeting with kids in tow, a couple lazy chairs by the window, and a number of two and four tops round it out. There is a separate play area for tots and they have electrical plug-ins everywhere. The food is a bit spendy but tasty. I paid $12 and change for a sandwich, large coldpress coffee and dollar tip. Another bonus is its location. Just kiddy corner from the Riverview Theatre, means I can get some work done while my teens catch a weekday $2 matine. Bonus!

Great customer flow and ease of getting in and out with drinks. Separate entrance/exit for social distancing. The iced coffee is still excellent! Will return regularly

Ive been going to the Riverview as long as its been open. One of the few independent coffee shops left, and its pretty great. Parents can bring their kids to play in the play area, the coffee is second to none, and the attached wine bar is a major perk. Its what a coffee shop should be.

I have not been to many Wine Bars like Riverview. It feels so familial and comfortable. The fireplace is so nice and they have live music during the week. I love that it is tucked away into the Longfellow neighborhood. The wine selection is good, the service is friendly, and I really appreciate flights of wine for beginners.Great for a date or a slow night with friends or family.

Great local beers, excellent wine selection, super crab cakes, brilliant burger. And all their Bordeaux are clarets.

My favorite coffee shop

Not a wine fan, but this is a great place to take a date for a wine flyte and a bite! Theyve got a lovely fireplace for those cold winter nights. Great service! The space is smallish, so if theres music it makes it harder to chat.

Great place for a quick bite and cup of coffee. The ambiance here is really cool, and the food was awesome. Easy to find and easy to park at. Staff was very friendly. Loads of seating options to choose from. They also have water out in the seating area for free.

Great place for a coffee break! Roomy, pleasant, family friendly atmosphere with a play area for kids. Couch, stuffed chairs or tables & chairs let adults nestle in comfortably. Very good coffee, dark but mellow. Wonderful pastry case...quiche, teacakes, chunky chocolate chip cookies...something for everyone. Get the larger cup of coffee to begin with as refills are 1.00+.

Came for Valentines Day dinner. The food was good, the service was great, and the atmosphere is very warm and cozy. Great wine, beer, and cider selection. It was a little pricey, as in the lowest priced option in each category was 1-3 dollars more than one might expect. I went with a suggested bottle in the mid-range. My favorite feature of the space is the offset couches in the corner, next a a glass gas fireplace.

A very classy place with dark intimate Ambience and a lovely selection of wine and cheese! And very personable servers. Its not a place I would normally suggest a single person go. It seems like it would be a better place if you have someone to talk to unless you enjoy a quiet Ambience, yourself.

Youd be hard pressed to find a friendlier place. The food is always excellent and service is attentive without being annoying. Its great for date night but casual enough for a spontaneous weeknight dinner.

I always enjoy this place. Usually pretty quiet with a good selection of cafe food (sandwiches, quiche, breads, pastries, etc.), teas, and coffee drinks. Also wine and beer. Theres a little alcove with childrens toys and games too, to keep kids entertained. Friendly service, decent prices.

A spacious coffee house with a good variety of edibles ranging from main dishes like quiche to salads, desserts, and a number of packaged snacks. It features the usual varieties of coffee, espresso, and tea both hot and iced. Theres outdoor seating and its right across from the Riverview Theater, which makes it a very convenient stop for refreshments either before or after a movie. We like to eat there so we can watch the theater through the large front windows to see if a line forms, so we can scoot over there if necessary. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is homey. Recommend.

Great coffee and bakery with an extremely cozy and welcoming atmosphere! Friendly staff and a cool childrens play area. You can even get beer and wine.

The Riverview is so awesome with dogs! They gave my little guy a treat and changed the bowl of water so it was be clean for the next doggy, after he was done (he decided he needed a whole cool down).

Great drinks, but not a good place if you are looking for something to snack on.

Theyve an excellent selection of wine. The ambiance there is relaxing and casual. I enjoyed their sophisticated interior decor. And nothing is better than drinking a glass of wine there, to mellow out, and then watch a movie at the theater afterwards. Ill most likely be back soon...

Coffee was really good, try the especial flavors Maple Cardamom Latte and Gingerbread Latte, you wont regret it! It was snowing pretty heavy and we ended up here before the cinema.

Location, location, location. Across the street from the Riverview Theatre and next door to its sister Riverview Wine Bar (which it shares a large patio with) makes for a perfect date night. Pleasant coffee shop with quality food and drink. Place does get busy and with the kids play area can be a little too loud if you are seeking a quiet retreat. Open mic on Thursdays.

Cozy in the winter. Jazz on Sunday evenings. Always interesting specials. I live the wine flights. Amazing waitstaff.

Very nice atmosphere and the baristas were wonderful. We had a small group of people working on a group project and it was perfect. Some of them had kids and it was nice to have a play area for them. Thank you!

Nice coffee shop with a decent amount of off-street parking available in back. Good coffee drink selection. But the most impressive was a special place that they set up for the kids to play while their parents were chatting.

Had a breakfast meeting there. Coffee was very good as was the banana bread. Friendly service. Just a tad bit noisy for my meeting but would do it again.

Excellent cozy place for single, duo, or small groups. Fantastic wine selection (including flight options), and the food is very good too. Staff is friendly and attentive, atmosphere is inviting, and often you can stumble across some of the best local musicians playing jazz or lighter music.

SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF! Answer all my questions about my drink. My Ice coffee was delicious, and they had plenty of sweet and savory things to snack on. Great place to work from.Clean and spacious.

Another staple of the Howe neighborhood this coffee shop has been here for years proving itself. Not sure if David is the owner anymore but is well liked and known among the local community as well because of this great addition to the neighborhood.

Came here with my boyfriend to kill time before our movie across the street. Very friendly service and cute, comfortable atmosphere. I had my very first espresso here and the gentleman that helped us was so nice and advised me to only do one shot instead of two :PThey also had live music which was way fun and unexpected. Great spot to relax with friends!

The food is high quality and the atmosphere is chill. Live music consistently and its always incredible.

Nice atmosphere, but food was not up to expectations. My quiche had a piece of eggshell. The server said sorry, but didnt even remove the rest of the pie from the case. And my husband tossed most of his Arnold Palmer lemonade... too sour!

Love the wine flights and outdoor seating! Food is pretty amazing, too. Its a great place to grab a bite or drink before/after a movie at the Riverview across the street.

This has been my favorite restaurant for over a decade. I love the vibe, the owner works here, it seems like a family owned place, the food is to die for, and the wine list is extensive. Its the place I always bring friends, family from out of town, or anybody that hasnt ever been there. I love it!

I live in the neighborhood and consider the wine bar to be one of the dependable, go-to spots to bring guests for a nice night out. The wine flights are a fun way to try something new. The wine menu has plenty of options to explore. The food is consistently good. Weve gone various times on various days of the week and usually can find a seat. Staff has always been very nice, even when we arrive a bit too near closing time. Theyve found a way to accommodate us and been polite and helpful.

They have a great gluten-free burger, and good ambiance.

The cafe is part of a lively and vibrant eco-system of stores and services centered around the traffic junction, just outside the front doors.Inside this warm and cozy space is the main hall with tables, chairs, coffee bar, food, snacks, sofa chairs etc. At the end is a quiet little childrens play area with soft toys, a dimly lit lounge area for reading or chit chat, restrooms, bulletin board and storage. Along the walls are eclectic collections of art for sale.Best of all maybe, are the entertaining live acts and music played here few nights per week, dovetailing nicely with Riverview Theater across the corner, the gardening store at one side and health clinic at the other

Its a great place to sit with your laptop and have coffee. And get caught up on your work every time Ive been there its always been very quiet and relaxing

Beautiful patio, excellent beer and wine selection, and the pizza was delicious. Service was good and the light jazz music was a nice touch. Its a little more expensive than other neighborhood establishments.

This is my neighborhood coffee shop. I wish they had a healthier option for the frozen blended coffee, though. The mix they use has sugar and corn syrup in it - not a fan.

Im not a fan of this place. I will only go in when friends I know are playing. Prices are steep, and food is pretty good. A friend used to refer to it as the second mortgage cafe.

Its a really cool place great for kids, they also have live music on Fridays
