Could not have been better. Got a quote after giving accurate information ... made an appointment to sell the car ... and after a short period of time, and no problems, walked out with a check for the exact amount of the offer. Better than a local dealers offer; better than a different online dealership.I guarantee I will do business with Carmax again in the future.

Everything about my experience was top-notch! I did not even know that CarMax would buy your car. I did the on-line offer on my car, went in-person where they checked out my car, and the offer was honored. The sale process was smooth and easy, and our salesperson was very knowledgeable and friendly. The next day, I realized I had left a CD in the player. I reached out to them through email and was contacted by Rich and told they had people looking for it. Before long, they found it! The car was already in Columbia, but Larry, the GM, arranged to have the CD sent back to Myrtle Beach, and Rich reached out when they had it. He put it in the mail to me! The customer service provided by this team was much more than I would ever have expected! They went to all this trouble simply to get a CD back to a customer! I would absolutely recommend this CarMax.

My service person was Brandyn.( I think, I just remembered that his name had an unusual spelling ) He was very attentive and knowledgeable. Our car buying experience at CarMax Myrtle Beach was extremely lengthy and frustrating. . Our sales associate was not prepared when we arrived even though we had booked an appointment several days prior. He had trouble completing each step of the transaction and it was apparent that he was nervous and unsure of how to expedite a transaction. Car buying doesn’t need to take three hours when you have completed the preliminary paperwork, had the car shipped to the location, had bank checks sent in advance and provided all requested documents in the first five minutes. I bought three cars within a two week period. This was by far the worst experience and if we had not paid $549 to transfer the vehicle, we would’ve walked out. I would not buy a car using this method again. I’m concerned about receiving the registration in a timely manner. The manager tried to assist our salesman and had difficulty with submitting registration info to the state system. We we suggested to just put a Carmax tag and let us leave he said he could do that but we would have to forfeit the 30 day money back guarantee! Crazy logic! Look elsewhere for your car and save your sanity!

Thanks to the excellent after sales service provided by Chris Sparks and the entire management team. I visited the store during my vacation and Chris helped me to find the car that I could not resist to buy. Most importantly, they continued helping me with the challenges/Issues when I tried to register the car back to my state. Purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. Process for me was very smooth, however I will say it was a quick process because I had my own financing. I worked with the Myrtle beach location & the customer service was awesome. I was able to test drive for 24hrs & when I called to say I wanted the vehicle by the time I was back at CarMax to finalize the deal all the paperwork was already printed out & ready for me to sign. They already went on dmv website & had my tags from prior vehicle transferred over. Overall less than an hour process to be in & out. I would highly recommend.

I found using CarMax for the first time to be a very satisfying experience from beginning to end. I wanted a hard to find vehicle, so used their feature to notify me if the vehicle was located reasonably close. They were able to find one, and had it brought to me to test drive for a very nominal fee. I purchased the vehicle, but ended up getting financing at a lower percentage elsewhere. You are given 3 days to find a lower rate, and can switch over no problems or questions asked. Everyone was very professional and very nice to deal with! I would definitely use them again.

My experience with Car Max started out great. Then things went downhill quickly. I completed a 24 hour test drive and liked the car. Decided I wanted to purchase the car and heres where things got weird. They only wanted cash for the down payment. Jumped through all of their hoops to get this done. Then little things like my 90 day trial period of XM radio started going in and out. Message was to contact dealer. I did and told oh well. Zero concern for a part of their deal not being met. Their follow thru has been nonexistent.

I had the best experience buying my first car here. The staff was incredibly friendly, I had two staff members assist me. Unfortunately, I do not remember their names, one was taller and had glasses and used to work in Hospitality. The other was an older gentleman from Jersey, I believe. UPDATE:Had another experience at CarMax Myrtle Beach this week, 100% better experience. David was fantastic; knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, and fast! Raising my review from two stars to four, but if I hadn’t had the bad experience below…would have been five starts! CarMax: invest in people like David, they are the ones who create brand loyalty!PREVIOUS REVIEW:Overall was an average experience. The automated messages about the car we paid to have shipped in didn’t coincide with the call center information, and it was impossible to get through to the actual store:The automated message said the car was ready and to call the number to schedule a time to see it. We called the number at 7:00 pm and the call center said the car wouldn’t be ready for 48-72 hours after it arrives because it has to go through a title process and inspection. The store called first thing the next morning and said the car is ready and asked when we wanted to see it. Cal center should stay out of it and just let us talk to the store.We arrived at store opening and we were assigned to Jarek. Jarek is a nice person but extremely slow. He asked for the same information multiple times, asked for my license three times, and then refused to include part of my monthly income when running the credit application, skewing my debt to income ratio and likely causing me to pay a higher interest rate.After everything was done, we had been there for four hours. We have purchased several cars through CarMax and have always been in and out within 2 hours, including the test drive. We asked if he was new, they said he had been there for almost a year.He was nice, just terribly inefficient with our time. The manager wasn’t much help either, failing to understand how my monthly vehicle allowance and my weekly pay were separate. I would think as a manager in the car business he would understand basic financial reimbursements from employers.Overall, the worst experience we have had with CarMax. We hope next time it will be back to higher standards.

I sold my vehicle to CARMAX FOR $2,000.00 above Edmunds Appraisal Value and $3,000.00 above the Dealership on a Trade In for a New Vehicle. In the past 15 years I have sold three used vehicles to CARMAX and receive a price much higher then the Online Vehicle Appraiser and Dealership. Carmax is the place to go if you have a vehicle to sale. I love their no hazzle policy.

I literally just got the car home so I cant comment on that but I can comment on the buying and shopping experience. First, finding a car was easy I dont know the exact range that they will ship cars for free from other stores but it seems pretty far, around a few hundred miles. This is important because it significantly adds to the inventory of each store. We found the car we wanted, got pre-approved and I was at the dealership signing paperwork and driving off the lot in about an hour. Customer service broke expectations in the most exceptional way. I immediately had a text and call within minutes of reserving the car. I got an appointment with a rep very fast. Connor at the myrtle beach store was AWESOME. He walked us through the process, was low pressure, helpful, honest, and beyond easy to work with. Management should definitely view him as an asset. Loved the experience and will be back. Give them your first look when shopping around its well worth it!!

Its been kind of a nightmare. The day I was going to go in to look at the car and sign papers I got a text telling me that the car was throwing a key code error. There was plenty of time to get it fixed before I got there. Its been 2 weeks and still havent gotten a call to get it fixed. Left 3 voice mails finally called service myself only to get hung up on. Plus I guess when I signed papers the sales girl had me sign on the wrong spot. Still havent gotten in to sign that.

I went through everything they said down to the waiting for no reason, being lied to and given the run around and they also gave us a dirty car to test drive .. A car they was supposed to have had cleaned a week prior. I also paid a 100 transfer fee for no reason I still waited a extra WEEK . The process of buying the car was pleasant. The person who helped us was wonderful and very informative. My only complaint was two days after we bought the car my daughter had an oil leak all over our driveway and had to go back for something very simple. I feel like that should’ve been seen in there inspection that they say they do before they sell you the car. Also about a week later her windshield wiper literally flew off while she was driving so we had to replace the windshield wiper on the car wasn’t even a week old. I am also still waiting to hear back from an installation service that I paid for to add an accessory to the car. It’s been 2 weeks and haven’t heard anything yet. But that may not have anything to do with Carmax since they contract out so that probably isn’t their fault. All in all it was a pleasant experience though and when I am ready to buy a new car I will most likely go back.

Easy to deal with the. No haggling. Considerable delay in getting vehicle to my location. Need to rework your invoicing schedule for payments. By the time I get my invoice I only have 6 or 7 days before its late. Major complaint was vehicle condition on delivery. Mechanical problems -- dead battery (2 calls to AAA), bumper problems and physical damage were addressed. Truck was absolutely FILTHY, No detail prep done at all. I had time to clean it since it wouldnt start until you replaced battery. All in all, C+,Could have been a lot better.

Horrible customer service.Very frustrated... bought a car at CarMax online, pick up was in Myrtle Beach, thought it would be fun to pick up.Filled out all paperwork online, submitted everything for a easy customer pick up, drove 16 hrs, showed up at 11 am appointment, had to wait 3.5 hours to have a salesperson meet with us (said that they overbooked), then it took another 4 hours to redo everything, and salesperson had no idea how to complete paperwork.Plus car was a mess...do not do business with @Carmax they absolutely suck.Not the way car buying shoud be. #frustrated

My husband and I are very happy with Carmax! As soon as we walked in the door, we were treated so nicely. The employees were cleaning the chairs and desks before we sat down, offered refreshments, and the process to sell our car took maybe 45 minutes! Not all CarMax locations are equal. Our first experience with CarMax in Charleston, SC was exceptional. Our recent second transaction with CarMax in Myrtle Beach, SC was somewhat lacking. The CarMax system works great, but the point of contact can make or break even the best of businesses. We had a difficult time in coordinating and communicating with our sales associate, and the management support was not obvious or readily available. The key point is that if you are not comfortable with your designated sales associate, you should request to be transferred to another individual who can make the experience enjoyable.

The staff at this CarMax location are so helpful, friendly, and understanding. Theyve implemented COVID-19 protocols and the staff clearly makes an effort to keep those up. Its important to meet the needs of the customer and in my experience, they did just that. I worked with Dennis, who not only made sure I was happy with my purchase but took extra steps to ensure the process was simple and effortless for me. Even through some minor technical difficulties, the other staff members were there and ready to help. When I came back in a few days later, other staff members who I hadnt even worked with recognized me and welcomed me back. The car I purchased had to be shipped from another location, and it ended up arriving several days earlier. I feel I was given much better financing options than I would have at any other dealership. Even the offer I received on my trade-in was higher than I had expected it to be. I would 100% without a doubt recommend going to CarMax if youre in need of a new vehicle.

Nice concept. This was my first experience with CarMax. I, specifically, was searching for a nice BMW 128i convertible within a couple hundred miles of my home in Myrtle Beach. After driving to dealerships up to four hours away and being disappointed, I clicked on this car in Fayetteville NC. I was surprised that they would, for no charge, send it to the Myrtle Beach store and reserve it there for me to test. Armed with the V.I.N., I was able to search its history before it arrived and after a good test drive, bought the car. Its exactly what I wanted and in my favorite color!You might pay a little more at CarMax but its worth it. You get a vehicle with a clean Car Fax, thouroghly inspected and detailed and the price advertised is the price you pay. The store is comfortable and Covid aware. Our salesman, Dennis, and everyone there was working hard, efficient and personable. Two thumbs enthusiasticly up!!!

So I had searched for a specific year, make and model of car with a low mileage in the colors I liked, for months. I found one! Car Max had the option of me having the car transported to a lot near me -$199.00 cost.No worries. The vehicle was tracked and I was contacted to set up an appointment for the test drive/purchase of this vehicle at the local lot.Loved the car - price was competative - decided to trade in my car and was given more than originally listed online for my tradein. WOWI still have manufacturer warranty and 30 day to return to Car Max if I dont find this is the vehicle for me. I was not sure about the process but trying to step into the new age. They sold me a car they don’t own. Now I’m waiting for them to get in touch with the previous owner to fix the paperwork. Car is sitting on the street with dead 30 day tags. COMPLETE BREACH OF PRIVACY as they sent me poa, title, bill of sale from the PREVIOUS owner and expected me to take it to title office to transfer ownership from previous owner!!! Horrible store manager who was happy to talk to me until I told him his lack of privacy/security was concerning.Go somewhere else!!! Run!!! Go to your local car lot as there will be more honesty and morals with your purchase there than here.

I was very disappointed that my car was not cleaned and looking showroom ready when we went to pick up. Then the worst part was We waiting and after about an hour waiiting for it to be washed and cleaned then to be told “take it to a car wash and then we will reimburse you 🤨. The inside of it was ok but. It was not cleaned and new smelling. It is great after taking it to tje car wash where they did it inside and outside! We did get reimbursement but what a disappointment for such an experience that was supposed to be exciting.

I got a quote to sell my car onliine that was $4000 higher than the dealer would give me. Made an appointment, spent 45 quality minutes with Dennis who was a total professional and returned on Monday to sign the papers and pick up my check. How much easier can it be?

The manager Would literally stop talking to us and start carrying on a conversation with his employees and then come back and say something to us and then continue conversating with another employee that approached him. We were then told that there was nothing on their car lot to be sold Followed up with well there might be a few but not very many. I have never experience such unprofessionalism or rudeness.

After, my car was totaled after a car accident in May. I was looking for a suv. I looked at several different services through Vroom, Carvana and also Carmax. Carnax was the only dealership that had a Nissan Maurano with the color and package type I preferred. The staff was excellent 👌. My Nissan was actually shipped from Wilmington. They made sure to keep me informed in everything aspect of the car transfer. They even kept the dealership open 20 mins later on a Saturday while we finalized all the paperwork. I highly recommend Carmax!!!

My experience at CarMax was frustrating because every time I went there was a long wait to see a salesperson. Finally figured out how to get through to someone on the phone. Ordered a car I found on the app to be sent from another location, and got an appointment to drive it, after I had to call again and check in the status of it. That was the only one I drove, and bought it. I was ready to get my car buying experience over with. Their no haggle prices are good, and the best part is no hidden fees. In my search I found that other dealerships charge $628 closing costs, and have other added charges - Carmax does not do that.

Absolutely terrible experience. First time I spoke with them they put a car on hold for me only to tell me the next day the car was sold. Offered to pay up to $200 in shipping for a different car to make up for their mistake. Find a car I like, ran the credit, got approved, put in for a transfer. Was told the vehicle will be here in 5-7 days. Everytime I call it says the vehicle is ready to ship and was expected to arrive May 18th. I called today (19th) for them to tell me they made a mistake and the car is now on hold for someone else. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! My credit was now ran for a car I wont even be getting because they dropped the ball TWICE within a week and a half.
