Iβd been car shopping for weeks, dealing with the typical sleazy, just out to make a buck salesmen, and I was ready to give up and stick with the car I had. He also went above and beyond by staying until I was able to drive my new car off the lot (after 10 PM!!) even though heβd been there since 7:30 that morning. I have dealt with East Coast Volkswagen for many years. They are always friendly and provide excellent service. When I had originally looked at the car, I mentioned I liked how the 3rd row of could fold back to provide more trunk space. When the car was delivered, they had already folded down those back seats for me. They also brought a document I had accidentally left there and had not realized I had left behind. It is the small extra actions like this which make a difference.Because I have had long experience, I also have to mention the service. I always take my car there for service. Their service is always excellent. They also send emails with discounts for service or checkups, and when I forgot to bring them they took the time to make sure I got those discounts.I highly recommend East Coast Volkswagen to anyone looking for a new car. Especially very tall people who like leg room. That is a big issue for me, and Volkswagen cars do much better in this area than any other type of car.

Terrible experience, and Iβd highly recommend if youβre looking for a used car to steer clear of this chain of dealerships. We originally decided to visit based on a few cars we had found in their website, upon arriving they had sold the cars we were interested in but assured us that they had several other options. The salesman proceeded to lead us to his back lot and show us cars that were in terrible condition. I wish I had taken photos to back up the experiences, but I remember specifically a few of the vehicles. The first was a 10-year-old red Honda Civic that had a rear bumper supported by duct tape and had a side mirror missingβ¦ they were asking $10,000. That was an obvious no, the next cars he showed us had not been cleaned, or had the previous ownerβs items removed. This Nissan he showed us had pieces of a vape pen scattered about the vehicle. Another vehicle, a 2007 Subaru Legacy, was listed for $7,000. When we inquired about the vehicle the salesman said it did not run and we would have to tow it home. After that we test drove a few vehicles that seemed to be alright, only to have one over heat and another whoβs timing belt relentlessly squeaked during the drives. After finding the only acceptable car, a 2007 Nissan Versa and test driving it we were then awarded with the Carfax. I was enraged, the carfax report showed that the vehicle had open recalls for all the airbags, and the dealership let us test drive it on the highwayβ¦ Later during the visit we were given some harsh truths that Iβll pass onto anyone else visiting this lot. These vehicles are purchased to incentivize sales of new Hondaβs and Volkswagens, so the dealership does not care about the quality of the cars as they will simply be sent to auction within the next couple weeks. They informed me that they DO NOT check the carfax of the used cars in their inventory before or after purchasing them, and only obtain the carfax when a deal is about to take place. This dealership is far worse than several of the mom-and-pop used car dealers youβd find. One salesman openly said they would work to get the used cars running to the point they would get off the lot and then they were the purchasers problem. This dealer has no care or regard for the dangers they put your family through and are out to make a quick buck on anyone trying to buy a used car from them. Avoid at all cost.

I was dreading the process of buying a new car but Emil was honestly incredible. He never made us feel pressured, stayed within our budget, and was great at explaining all the bells and whistles that came with the car. He made us feel comfortable and at ease considering the big purchase we were about to make. He wasnt pushy and he took the extra time to answer all of our questions and give us all of the information. Considering the entire sale from beginning, to trade in, to end was done online - the entire experience was very smooth. EC VW worked with me to get a better rate than my own bank was offering and even drove our new car, 2 hrs. to drop it off at our house and take our trade-in back to the dealership. It doesnt get much better than that.

I went to this dealership after being contacted three times after not getting the car I originally went there for. So I ended up going back to get a bmw 328i! Mark Keto might I add was VERY PROFESSIONAL the entire process! So two days after purchasing the car, I took the car to bmw and found out the car need a timing chain 4000$ intake tubes 700$ So I went back to east coast Honda and the first NONCHALANT guy which I canβt remember his name came out the office an stated there was nothing in they could do and ended up sending the sales manager out who showed us a few cars that we could trade in but NONE was in my price range or either were in bad condition as well. So we left after being told they wouldnβt help with the parts or labor of the vehicle. The following Friday I came back because the car had cut off on my way to bmw to buy the 700$ parts. So after I got the car back running I went back to east coast and they tried to get me in another trade in. At this point Iβm just asking to take me out of the vehicle and end the contract. But MAC!!! YES MAC THE RUDEST Person I have ever came in contact with, insisted that I had to trade the car in because the finance company would still bill me for the vehicle. So originally the week before they told me they would credit my First down payment to the new trade in but when I went back that following week MAC said I needed to put down another down payment and he re ran my credit, which is why I was confused if they had already had me with a finance company the week before. So I denied giving another down payment an left. Something told me call the finance company and they told me THE CONTRACT WAS ENDED THE WEEK PRIOR when I originally came in to trade the car in. They stated they told the dealership after finding out how many mechanical issues was wrong with the car they refused to complete the contract. So MAC and the rest of the guys in the office knew this but tried to secretly run my credit again just to make another sale. When I called Mac an told him he seem nonchalant like he knew an insisted I bring the car back. I had no way to get back home so I told him to tow the vehicle. So I dropped that car off and got into my other car to Go back to bmw to turn the parts in. Mac called yelling and screaming the tow truck driver canβt find the car and he wasnβt giving me back my down payment since I couldnβt answer his calls. He said itβs my fault I bought a as is vehicle. No one has returned my calls about the complaints an honestly I feel all of them were in on what was going on. But as soon as I find corporates number I will be contacting them to let them know in further detail
The service technicians and front office folks are great. We took my 2008 Beetle convertible in for help with my convertible top, it was stuck in the open position. They discovered the culprit, a little stuffed animal lodged where it shouldnt have been and somehow affecting the connection. Also the safety check sheet was much appreciated. Friendly people doing good work.

Service dept. is awful. Came in with a flat tire because it happened while driving down 17. They told me go down one more light down the highway to Firestone! On a flat tire! Then I asked about waiting for someone to put the spare on, he said weβre going to lunch now but weβll be back in an hour I just canβt promise when someone can look at it. Luckily my father came and bailed me out. After that never again, and if I ever need a new/used vehicle it wonβt be a VW.
Team,Iβm not even sure how to start this critique. Β I moved my family across the US from Washington State to Myrtle Beach last month with a mission to settle down and continue my job. The day after we moved here, I got laid-off from my West Coast Oil Barge job due to a declining market of oil due to the Covid Pandemic. Coupled with the lay-off, my car had a major engine malfunction that requires a complete overhaul costing several thousand dollars. Β My primary job is a Chef, and with a saturated tourism market already established in the local area, Chef jobs (let alone cook jobs) are hard to come by. Β So as a primary income, I turned to Gig Work. Although this line of work is lucrative, being down a vehicle, makes the income seem out of reach. Β So after coordinating bills and streamlining whatever money we made, we were still coming up short. We NEEDED two vehicles to make this work. Β I scoured many car lots online and read, literally, hundreds of reviews of all of the major automobile dealerships in the greater Myrtle Beach area. I narrowed my final selection to East Coast Volkswagen. Β At my wits end and already assuming we wouldnβt get another vehicle, the team at that store proved me incredibly wrong. Β As soon as we drove up, your Vietnam War Veteran and Hero, Terry Heyne, greeted us and made us feel at ease. Β We laid out our whole situation to him and stated, βwell, all we can do is try! But, this place has a habit of making miracles happen!β Β After filling out some paperwork and swapping war stories (my wife and I are both retired Air Force), we sat and waited. Β During that time, Robert Wilkens came over and asked us various financial questions and to asses our situation. Β According to Terry, Robert was βdoing his magic!β Β After a few hours (at closing time to be precise), Robert came out and said, βnot only did I get you approved, but I got you approved for a 2021 Jetta if you want!β My heart literally skipped a beat! Β Terry and Robert are both masters of their craft and really showed this old Vet that there is still honest and hard working individuals that still put the needs of the customer first! We presented that team a hard situation and they did indeed perform a miracle for us! I was looking to purchase a CPO 2015 VW Passat TDI with a 6-speed manual. As this is a rare car I was willing to go out of state to purchase one. Fortunately for me East Coast VW had one of them in stock at great price and not too far away from me, and my sales consultant Jody Bowles was very helpful with every aspect of my purchase. Once everything was done I flew in and Jody picked me up at the airport. I was out of the door with my new car in less than an hour. Overall very happy with the car, the price I paid and overall purchase experience.

Vehicle was ready as promised, ECM update was done in less than an hour.I took a 600 mile trip right after I got it back. Vehicle ran much better and mileage averaged 35 MPG, not bad for an SUV rated at 29 MPG.Great work, I am extremely satisfied.

Dropped my car off for service appointment at 8:45 am, was told it would be in the shop in one hour. More than 24 hours later, still had not been looked at. When I called, was told they would try to look at it in the afternoon. Picked it up with no service. Very poor experience, will not return.

Worst VW experience. I was looking into trading into a VW. Right front the beginning I should have ran away. There was no salesmanship. I had to sell myself and do my own research. The place was always empty with what looked like lack of business. When I decided to look into my options it was painstakingly slow. Any other time purchasing a car, I would know within hours my options. No, it was almost two weeks of phone tag and excuses.It makes me sad to see the decline of customer service. This place needs to step up their game in finding the right people to sell this brand.
Let me start this off with the fact that I am a royal pain in the rear end when it comes to buying anything. I am awful at making any sort of financial decisions and it takes me a LONG time to make them. Zach Gruber and Zach Elliman were my salesmen for the past week and a half or so and Ill likely not be the first to say it but they were both fantastic. I absolutely could not have asked for a better representation of the company when I first arrived. I started looking for a car, as I said earlier, about a week and a half ago and met Mr. Elliman. During my first visit we spent roughly an hour going over the models, trim levels, and deals on each vehicle and now I have a pretty good understanding of all of them and it gave me time to go home and do some in-depth research which Im thankful for. My next visit was a few days later with Mr. Gruber, that day we took a couple cars out for test drives, looked at the 2020 Jetta, and I think thats what really hooked me... Going on a 10 minute test drive and averaging 42mpg is pretty crazy compared to the 13mpg I got with my Lexus. Yesterday, finally, I arrived at 3pm and was still indecisive so I took out a Passat for a test drive, and while it was nice it just wasnt meant for me. I ended up taking home a new 2020 Deep Black Pearl Jetta R-Line and I absolutely could not be happier. All the staff was dedicated to making this experience the best it possibly could be even amidst the struggle of dealing with a very very picky customer.To all the staff I dealt with yesterday, Joseph, Zach & Zach, Amel, Chris, and everyone else,Thank you very much for making 2020 a whole lot more tolerable! I look forward to coming back in the future.

I did not get finished with all the paperwork until well after closing, because I came in a little late. Have a used 2016 beetle convertible. I brought it in for a recall repair. The service center was knowledge & quick. Also had salesman, Sage, spend time with me discussing my car needs. I mentioned the tan rag top had some stains & can he make a cleaning recommendation. He had Shaun in the detail department take a look at it. Shaun was able to get ALL the previous owners stains out. The service I recieved was STELLAR from Sage, Shaun & the service department. Ill definitely be back! Thank you

All departments of the East Coast Volkswagen staff are professional, friendly, and service oriented. They have a very comfortable waiting room supplied with coffee, food, and TV. The service department gets you in and out in a very timely manner. They have a great group of employees from sales to service!
