Living on the west coast now, however I still hold onto the fondest memories of Captain Blue Hen. I remember the first store and the i have most of the books I picked up there....lol Dakota North #1....it would make a great Disney plus series tho. If you live in Newark and you read comic books, run...dont walk to see the Captain!

Everything you want in a comic book store and then some! New issues, back issues, a subscription program with Rewards, and knowledgeable personnel.And they do Free Comic Book Day like no other store Ive ever seen. Costumed characters, artists and writers, and a few remarkable craftsmen.

I went there to reunite with a friend and it was like a scene out of the Big Bang Theory. Lol. The owner was so warm and friendly and I was very pleased with the inventory. I even found something for my 4 year old grand daughter. ❤

Consistently clean, well-lit, well-stocked. Knowledgeable staff. Great sense of merchandising and community. Personable recommendations, and great stuff for kids as much as the adult collector. Back issues, hardbacks, Special Events, book clubs, and even toys, and board games. Has become my go-to place this year. Ive taken the family to numerous Free Comic Book Day events since 2017. Excellent special guest, artists, and cosplayers. Bonus perk: Just a couple streets down from Pizza, burritos, donut, and coffee places. I drive from Northeastern Maryland to get here, and wouldnt imagine going anywhere else.

The best comic shop around. Period. I have special needs (vision impaired) and they accommodate me with no problems. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. If they dont know the answer or have what you need they will do everything possible to get it for you.

Ive been going here since I was a teenager and in my opinion its the best place around. The staff is friendly and they make you feel welcome, plus they dont mind the occasional discussion/debate about nerdy stuff. I wouldnt buy from anywhere else.

A really friendly store that loves to listen to its customers! Their message is very much comics are for everyone, and they will talk to you about just about any series theyve read to suggest new series for you! Definitely go to them for your all-ages comic needs, too. They do movie premieres for superhero movies too and theyre super fun!!

They are the friendliest place and so helpful. I had questions about less traditional comics and they had so many suggestions and took the time to talk to me about them. I also ended up getting to talk to one of the publishers by luck. Thank you for being an awesome place and super friendly!!!

My sister and I visited on free comic book day. The staff were helpful and kind. There is a good selection of comics and collectibles.

This place is great! They have a good selection of books and comics as well as a nice selection for younger kids. They also have a nice little coloring area for kids while you are browsing. My nieces love this place as do I.

Great place. The man behind the counter helped me find a comic for a 10 year old. When i started looking for something for my self he was very knowledgeable about everything i asked about.

The store is way more spacious on the inside than it is on the out. They reserve products which is a sweet touch. The employees are super nice and EXTREMELY helpful. Definitely going back sometime!!

This place is great for avid comic collectors and newbies alike... some comic shops act like total snobs toward anyone they deem has inferior knowledge or taste. This place has great customer service and a large selection. If you have kids that you want to encourage to read more, comics may be the answer.

Been going to Captain Blue Hen for over 2 years now and they are the best. Great selection of new and old books, plenty of trades, dollar books, etc. Staff is always friendly and know most of the customers by name. The store is big as comic stores go and they have creator signings a few times a year. Always make sure to show up on Free Comic Book Day because they have tons of fun stuff.

Great shop, we go up once a month to collect items from our subscription box. Easy to get things added and subtracted through their email system and they are willing to include titles not usually included in store.

Friendly employees who dont care if youve been into comics got years or are just starting out. Theyll help you find what youre looking for, help pick out titles youre interested in for new readers, and order in whatever they dont have in stock for your next visit

Captain Blue Hen Comics has, over the past several years, become a favorite and frequent haunt of mine. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and the array of product, from vintage/current comics to niche comics and pop culture collectibles, is vast. If they dont have a given item, they likely have a means to get it for you, and theyve always put the customer ahead of the custom when it comes to recommendations. When you want to talk with staff whos more current on comics culture than your average blogger or internet news site, you go to CBH.

The girl working was really funny, nice, and helpful. I was disappointed they didnt have any old comics, and not much of a selection of traditional paperbacks. They seem to push the graphic volumes, and I can get those cheaper elsewhere.

These guys (and gals) know my preferences and are quick to let me know of titles and items I may be interested in...Its become so easy that my wife even enjoys going there (and thats saying a lot!)
