Called to schedule an eye appointment because my glasses are broken and ran out of contacts. I was told by Cindy a “manager” that they had nothing available until December and if it was that important I need to find another place to go. I then asked for a Dr to reach out to me. Cindy then called me back not even 10 mins later informing me a client of 20 years that “Dr Devito states he’s not calling you back he stands with what I say, go elsewhere”. They have LOST a long time client. Thanks Cindy and Devito!

I love this place the people are very polite and respectful. My daughter love her new glasses they look good on her and they were affordable. They had a good selection of kid glasses to choose from.

Found this gem in Norfolk, and now my family and I will not be going anywhere else. Dr. Martin was very friendly and personable. He gave a very detailed and thorough explanation of the steps he was taking and why they were necessary. I can tell he genuinely cares about the health of your eyes and knows his stuff! He was great with my kids, and all the other staff were wonderful from the contact teaching to helping them select their glasses. Great atmosphere! The staff is rude in the optical department. I did not like Dr Devito he had no bedsidemanners. I have been in the medical field for over 30 yrs and this was the worst. I will never go there again

I went to this office because my mother said my father had the best eye exam ever! And my mother felt like her exam was great too. Even though her glasses are wrong and never got fixed. So I tried anyway. I have to say, I felt like, oh man, Im really going to be able to see clearly!. Well, that has yet to happen. My first pair of glass werent right. They rechecked my eyes. The second time around and my glasses still are not right. I called a second time but there was no one there that day that could help me and someone was supposed to call me back. That never happened either. Save your money and go somewhere else. Im going to have to go back to America s Best! If that tells you anything...And I am mostly upset because this is $1000 that I cant get back. I feel robbed!

I had an emergency situation happening with my vision, called, they evaluated my symptoms and was able to get me in for an appointment within an hour! I saw Dr. Martin, very nice, he did thorough testing of my eyes to make sure everything was checked, including dilation. I left with an answer/diagnosis.He was very knowledgeable, he took the time to explain every detail, even used visuals. I will be going back in the future. (The staff was very nice and respectful also.)

I have been a patient of Dr. Martins for twenty-two years. He is as professional and polite today as he was twenty- two years ago. I am now bringing my son to see Dr. Martin. If you are looking for a top notch eye doctor, check him out in Janaf Shopping Center. You just dont run into doctors like Dr. Martin anymore. I hope he sticks around a lot longer.

Proper sanitary conditions are in place to promote safety of the public. Staff is professional. Exam experience was flawless. Ended up spending over $800 for 2 pairs of glasses and cant see out of either of them. Went to Pearl Vision at Greenbrier and was told that prescription was right bit that the quality of the lenses were inferior. The glasses are so bad, I cannot even donate them.

Theyre very professional and good at what they do. They have a wide selection of glasses to choose from. From lower price to higher price he have a pair to fit your budget. Love the service and doctors. Great eye care. Front desk staff awesome, polite and friendly. My only only complaint is going in for a special test and being told I dont owe anything. I prefer to be told we will bill your insurance and bill you if theres anything left over because Im used to paying a copay. So nothing means nothing to me but then turn around and receive a collection letter after not receiving a bill is not good business. Im only going back to them because other than that they provide good service, better than most. Hopefully this note will help them improve. I have problem eyes and dont want to be jumping around from eye doctor to eye doctor.

I was referred here by a coworker several years ago. I never wait long, Im always able to get in at a time that works for me. Dr DeVito is easy to communicate with and knows his stuff. Huge selection of eyewear and great support staff from front desk to the men and women who help you pick out frames.

I went to Dr. Devito in 2016 and I was so impressed, Dr. Devito was able to fit me with contact lenses for both eyes and I was able to get my license and buy a car. He is always so professional. The staff is always so pleasant and I highly recommends with practice.

I have been going to this establishment for the last 10 years, and after reading a previous comment I felt compelled to write this review. I have no clue why this place for a 1 star, professional staff and amazing doctors. This establishment always cleans their equipment before and after use, not one person is rude unless you start giving them an attitude for absolutely no reason at all. I will not go to another eye doctor unless I have to. The eye exams are top notch, prices are superior over others. Sure a big name retail store will be a bit more cheap, but my eyes are fairly important to me so if I have to pay an extra $100-$200 for some of the best products I will do so. If this place is open in the future say 20-30 years from now I will still be going here for eye exams and any eye related issues.

I have been a patient at this office since 2005 and have always been pleased with the services. I used to live closer but now drive from an hour away and will continue to do so because it is worth the trip.

Dr. DeVito and his staff are the best. My husband and I live in Chesapeake but continue to see Dr. DeVito in Norfolk because of the quality of care we receive. You can get everything you need right there - eye exams and treatment, glasses, contact lenses. Justin in the eyeglass department is awesome.

I was there and they offered me same day appointment, the nurse was very attentive to my description and had the doctor see me almost immediately. The explanation of my symptoms was very detailed and the approach to the solution was just as detailed. I am very pleased with the experience. The price is very affordable, the staff very friendly and the doctor very assertive and reassuring. I highly reccomend them.

First time coming here as my primary eye doctor was booked. I wish I hadn’t. My primary office is so much better. They don’t even call in prescriptions here. I would recommend Dominion Eye Care on tidewater instead. They are more professional.

Drs. Devito & Martin have been my eye doctors since the late ‘90s. They’ve seen my eyes go through different stages as a child to now, in my 30s. Very consistent, detailed and helpful. They also take their time to listen to what’s going on, and are honest with their recommendations. Most of all, they are very professional and have made me feel welcome! Definitely recommend them!

My children and I have been going here for over 10 years now and love everyone here! They are always on time for the appointments, very thorough and they always have appointment times that meet the needs of our SUPER busy schedules and still get us in within a week of calling them for an appointment. My kids love them and they have a good selection of frames even for my picky child and they work with you even on insurance stuff that I do not have a clue about. I cannot say enough about Dr. Martin and Dr. DeVito as they have both taken excellent care of my children and I and I recommend everyone I know to them!

My experience was HORRIBLE. The Dr. Martin was very rude! Nothing about his presence was welcoming. The staff appeared unhappy and underappreciated and it reflected in their behavior and interactions. I regret going there wished I went back to VISIONWORKS!

Ive been going to this office since I was a little girl and Ive always had a great experience. Every time I go in there is a little wait time but not extreme. Ive recently got contacts and the lady that teaches you how to put them in and care for them is really sweet and patient.

I live near the oceanfront but the 20 minute drive is worth it! I have been taking my whole family to Dr. DeVito for 20 years. The whole staff is friendly and knowledgeable! They have helped me on many occasions when my kids have lost or broke their glasses (kids! ) and I needed to have them made and shipped ASAP to their dorm. They always go above and beyond. I will never go anywhere else!

I have been using this office for my eye care needs since I was a teenager but today was the first time that I had witnessed such rude and ghetto behavior from individuals in the front office. The young lady with the pink shirt hair was very ghetto and unprofessional and the fact that the two representatives that you see when you walk in the door at the receptionist office have purple and pink hair is shocking to me. The young lady with the pink hair and the older Caucasian women decided that gossiping about me and and staring at me was not offensive however they made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. After having me fill out needed documentation they still werent able to acknowledge that my name is Mrs. Hardy not Ms. Hardy. The young ladies spoke more Ebonics than proper English but i am guessing that times have really changed in office since I was a teenager. Although these young ladies failed to properly represent the offices of Dr. Devito and Martin, the fellow who assisted me with picking out my new specks was awesome and efficient. I guess I would rather not go back to this office nor take my children to this office as well. When I attempted to make appointments for all four of my children the young lady told me that she could only make appointments for the three children that I had cards for however, being that I am a long time customer, I figured that I would have at least been able to make it home and call in the one child insurance information.

Dr. Martin was great! He is very patient and thorough. I will be going back to see him again.

I have been going here since i was little. I have never had any issues. They always kept my appointment, it was quick but always good quality. I enjoy coming here every year.

I came in last week for a pair of glasses and some contacts. I received a text a week later that my glasses were ready for pickup. I drove 30 minutes from Portsmouth in rush hour traffic to pick up my glasses..only to get there and walk right out of the door 2 minutes later. It turns out that when the sales associate put my frames order in, she did not select the correct color. So now I have to wait for them to reorder the correct pair that I asked for and then ship them out. Inconvenienced and unhappy.

I dont know why I continued to give this office money for 12 years. The front staff was always pleasant. I dont even know which doctor I saw, but every time he was a complete jerk. My first encounter was probably his last appointment of the day at 6pm. He rushed me through, was not friendly and had zero personality. Each visit after that was more of the same. I even requested that I be seen by the other doctor there and still got stuck with this one. He always made me feel like he was being put out by time spent with me. As if he had better things to do. (Or perhaps better people to see like the lady from Indiana.) I will never return. I most recently visited Southern Eye Care and the entire staff was wonderful. Complete 180 from the lack of customer service I received from DeVito or Martin. If zero stars were an option, thats what I would give him.

Honestly, if I could give zero stars, I definitely would. This is the worst service I have ever recieved from any kind of doctor. The office was very unsanitary, I could tell they did not clean off the equipment after each patient. Also, the doctors and nurses have no self control, they were arguing very loudly on the floor in front of multiple patients. The consultants clearly did not know what they were doing. The doctors were very rude and unprofessional, I highly do NOT recommend. Worst service in the city, very unsanitary, and extremely unprofessional!!!

Wonderful services, gentle Physicians that knows how to speak on basic terms for anyone to be anle to understand what is going on with their vision. Dr. Martin was so gentle, I decided to allow my daughter to see him!!! This place is awesome!!!!

I just recently visited here yesterday and picked up a couple boxes of contacts. I had called ahead and the contacts representative was quick and responsive to my order. She said she would place my order to the side and they would ready for pickup the same day. When I arrived to pick up my contacts, the same representative was informative and answered all my questions, including advice for the nuances about which contact solutions are best for my contacts. Just a typical visit experience with this office...I have been going to Drs. DeVito and Martin for over 25+ years - my Mom first took me here when Dr. Doctor started the optometrist office years ago. He has long since retired and Dr. DeVito continued the service since then. Im still surprised that Cecile, the office manager, who has been at this office many years, recognizes me whenever I visit. Throughout all these years, this office has only provided me outstanding service, professional guidance, and sincere gratitude for supporting their business for so long. For years, Ive bought numerous glasses, rigid-gas permeable contacts, and now soft disposable contacts from this office. Im now in my late 30s, but Im sure in a couple of years, Ill soon be looking and asking advice on bifocals ...In this day and age of the convenience and lower costs of big box optometrists with 1-hour exams, its nice to know that there are still optometrists out there who believe in providing the community with quality, personal care, at a reasonable cost. DeVito & Martin Optometry does this by investing the time to know their patients not only for their first visit, but also for the future eye health of their patients for years to come.Keep up the fantastic work!!! - Bert Adamos

DeVito and Martin Optometry of Norfolk, Virginia is a great optometry clinic for employment eye tests, or any optometric needs. DeVito and Martin gave me a good experience, and exceeded my expectations. Heres why I liked DeVito and Martin Optometry:All employees that helped me during the check-in and check-out process were prompt, professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and tactful. After filling out all the initial paperwork for first time patients, I was then directed to the waiting room to wait for Dr. DeVitos assistant. Almost as soon as I got to the waiting room Dr. DeVitos assistant started the pre-eye exam! Dr. DeVitos assistant was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Also, the pre-eye exam was done in no time! This was your usual pre-eye exam, and took less time to complete than the average pre-eye exam.After the pre-eye exam was over Dr. DeVito entered the patient eye exam room, and began the actual eye exam. Over the course of the actual eye exam Dr. DeVito was for the most part professional, prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable; and answered all questions I had without hesitation. The actual eye exam was done in no time! This was an above average eye exam, and took much less time to complete compared to other eye exams Ive had. The only complaint I have of Dr. DeVito is that I feel Dr. DeVito had his own personal verbal agenda that took priority over me, and my eye exam. I agree with all of Dr. DeVitos political talk, however, he said certain things that seemed questionable when it came to certain races and ethnicities, that I didnt agree with.Its safe to say that all employees at DeVito and Martin Optometry are prompt, professional, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful, and tactful. Also, all employees that I interacted with went above and beyond for me while I was at DeVito and Martin Optometry. At DeVito and Martin Optometry theres excellent speed of service, great customer service, and great seating in the event you have to wait. Theres also an inviting and comforting atmosphere at DeVito and Martin Optometry, and makes the customer feel welcome. Lastly, there is superior cleanliness at DeVito and Martin Optometry throughout the entire building (including the bathrooms).Due to the briefness of my trip at DeVito and Martin Optometry in Norfolk, Virginia, I cant write my normal thorough review, because there was high-class timeliness, efficiency, and civility. I only wish that more businesses and their employees were as punctual, proficient, and well-mannered as DeVito and Martin Optometrys are. From start to finish (check-in, pre-eye exam, actual eye exam, and check-out) I was at DeVito and Martin Optometry for less than thirty-minutes! I just retired from the Navy and have been looking for a new Optometrist to replace my TRICARE Doctor. I need look no further! The receptionist was friendly, professional and prompt. The technician that did the initial checks was knowledgable, quick and pleasant to speak to. And to top it off, I was treated like family by Dr. DeVito. He took the time to explain everything that was going on with my vision, eyes, eyelids, ducts, etc. I could tell immediately that he loves what he does, loves to interact with patients, and is exceptionally knowledgable and professional. I am so glad I found my new Optometrist!For Active Duty military looking to transition from TRICARE to VSP or other vision insurance options, I highly recommend this Eye Care Center.
