Every time I need to service my vehicle, mostly oil change, I use this facility and they have done their job to satisfaction. Scheduling a service is easy and fast. Peace of mind comes from the fact that they use factory recommended parts. They offer a free shuttle aid, from and back to their facility, while the service is being performed, if you cant wait for it or you can use their customer lounge area.Prices are pretty much equal to all other dealers maintenance service. Sometimes discount are offered through mail promotion.

I find it hard to get a 1 star review, but downtown Subaru managed to do so.First of all, I had received an email indicating that they where offering me employee pricing. Followed by a phone call indicating they had all models and trims. The call got disconnected then I called them back and no answer. Finally they called me back and I spoke to a sales person which gave me detailed numbers for the vehicles and 2 trims I wanted. I asked him to send me an email or text with those numbers and he said he would get back to me but wrote me down for an appointment.I waited over half a day and no email or text so I called back. The individual who answered had me explain the situation and once I finished he hung up. I called back and he hung up again, then finally the third time I said I spoke to you already and he implied that they do not provide quotes over the phone, text or email. That I had to go in to get the quote. He then said don’t waste your time don’t come in brother (a manager shouldn’t talk like this, according to him he was the highest manager).I indicated well your worker gave me detailed numbers and he said well he is wrong he can’t do that no one can, and he went ahead and canceled my appointment and hung up on me again. If you want horrible customer service this is the place. Other dealerships are open and provide quotes.

Got my Impreza serviced here. Was a positive experience, would recommend and will be going back. Yes, its not the prettiest garage, but the level of service and work done was high...and people there are friendly. Worked with Jessy and the communication was great. Was affordable as well. Thank you.

Im a new Subaru owner (and new car owner in general), and was told at a recent oil change that my coolant was low and Id need to get the special Subaru Super Coolant. After checking the coolant level myself and finding it well below the Low marker, I became pretty nervous and made an appointment at Downtown Subarus Service & Parts Department for the next morning. Since I fortuitously happened to be in the neighborhood at the time, I called and asked if I could leave the car there overnight. I was told that I could, relieved I wouldnt have to drive the car several miles back home (and up into the hills).Upon arrival, one of the gentlemen working in the service center showed me around the back, and after glancing at the car determined that it was too new to likely need serious work. He and another tech popped open the hood, gave it a quick look, and offered to just top it off with coolant right then, free of charge. He even explained/showed that the tank I was looking at was only an expansion tank, and so I wasnt in nearly the predicament that I thought I might have been. I was super grateful—both that I wouldnt be without my car for the night and that theyd even entertain the idea of just doing this as a favor. For that kind of service, Id be willing to take my business to these folks whenever I need maintenance.

Scheduled an appointment Friday to have a tire with a nail in it inspected/repaired/replaced under the Subaru Tire Program for a set purchased 7 months ago at the Santa Cruz Subaru dealership. Arrived to a gruff service advisor (Jimmy), who barks, Grab you stuff, leave your keys upon approaching the car. I follow him to the service desk, where he proceeds to get irritated when I ask him about warranty coverage from the Santa Cruz dealership, which Id confirmed before scheduling the appointment would cover any dealers cost of service through the Subaru Tire Program. They misled you. They dont speak for us. After a few minutes, I realized that if I had to pay for a new tire, Id rather pay a business that treats its prospective customers respectfully. I pulled my car back out of the shop, called Albany Subaru, which both confirmed its participation in the Tire Program (all dealerships buy from the same program) and scheduled an appointment to fix or replace the tire. Easy as it should be. Twice Ive given DSO a shot at earning my business and twice now theyve utterly failed. So, a word of caution to Subaru owners seeking quality, respectful service: You should probably go elsewhere.DSO Supervisors: Please note that the same service advisor (Jimmy) is implicated in other customer interactions that led to poor reviews, which may be costing you business both now and in the future if left unaddressed.Post-script: I took my car to Albany Subaru, where I asked them not just to fix the tire, which they did under warranty, but to also provide the $60k service and address other issues. With better customer service, Downtown Oakland could have had that business.

I would not bring your car here for maintenance unless you want to get ripped off. I took my 2016 legacy in here for a quote on the 60k mile service and was quoted $1,900. I work in Modesto and took my car in there today for a quote and the same exact service was quoted at $1,000. Beware.

If you’re fine flushing money down the drain, by all means head here. Was quoted $1000 for work, but when I came back to pick it up, it was $1500. Salesmen quite cold and nickel and diming me. I asked if I could split it into two payments, as it had been a rough month, and without making eye contact the salesman told me he would not release the car without full payment. Just a bad experience.EXCEPT: the parts guys were really cool. I wish I could have just dealt with them.

I made an appointment to have my car checked out for an unusual vibration coming from the steering column/drive train. Two technicians (Luis and Adam) diagnosed the issue and noticed the same reported vibration. They also verified the vibration from my car was more intense after a comparing it to a same model at the shop. Luis then contacted Subarus tech-line and reported the finding. The customer service advisor (Jimmy) then notified me that the car was ready for pickup.Upon reviewing the diagnosis report in front of Jimmy, I noticed the current outcome of the vibration finding was an open case # within Subarus system. Since there was nothing written down that the open case is not a safety concern, I politely asked Jimmy to include this detail as part if the report. To my surprise, he responded by saying, Ill add that in if it makes you feel better. In an outwardly frustrated tone. At the time, I gave the benefit of the doubt, believing he was not speaking on emotion. Going off this premise, I respectfully responded to his question by saying, Yes, that would help make me feel better, thanks. His immediate response was a loud dissatisfied grunt while swiping the report from the countertop. Then he stormed off to his computer to make the change. Also worth mentioning, his outburst was done in the presence of two receptionists behind him. I could see from the receptionists reaction that Jimmys outward frustrations were making them feel uneasy...myself included. To be fair, Ill give Jimmy the benefit of the doubt that he may have been having a bad day before my arrival. Regardless, I dont believe his actions are justified to any customer, especially to customers that are kind and respectful. In light of this exchange, I still do respect Subaru as a company, but it is unfortunate to have experienced this first hand from one of their employees...and surprisingly from an employee serving as a direct representative of the company to everyday loyal customers.I would have given this review 1 star had it not been for Luis, Adam and the two shuttle drivers...they are all 5 star gents from my experience. Very professional and kind.

Had an awful experience at this dealership. Individual helping me was very rude and impatient. I was told that check up services I’ve received for free at other Subaru dealerships would cost $250+ here, and not given an explanation as to why. Condescendingly told to fix a problem on my drivers side door with tape or glue. Especially if you’re a women, do not recommend this dealership.

I have loved all four of my Subaru’s but unfortunately I hate going to get the car serviced. The new location sucks. No more car washes or vacuuming service. They have been saying they are waiting on a permit to wash cars from the city for three years now. There is a car wash place right next door. I’m sure they could work out a deal with there company for service. Who are the R&D personnel for Subaru of Oakland?? I moved to San Leandro so no shuttle service either. The old Toyota dealership that they shared facilities with has two shuttle vans for customers. That means a three hour wait with an appointment. At least they got rid of that one rude rubenesque brunette. She always made the trip here regrettable. Raymond seems a lot more pleasurable to work with. For that I will up it from one star to two.

May 8th 2019 updateThe Manager called me back to help amend the situation with my key-finder device.Unfortunately, this company was unable to fulfill my request to have an “itemized” report of the labor involved to replace my windshield and recalibrate my Eyesight technology for my insurance company (they combined both jobs into one amount). I was supposed to have an email sent with that information, but so far it’s been a week without any information.April 30th, 2019I brought my Subaru into the service department to get a windshield replaced. Left only my key and my key finder device with the technician. Came back to pick up my car and was given back my car key with my key finder making a constant high-pitched alarm sound. The mechanic said, “it was like that, when I found it.”I couldn’t use my app to turn off the device that was working perfectly fine when I left it inside the vehicle. The Subaru Advisor, Jimmy basically said they weren’t responsible. They tried to fix the problem and one advisor detached the battery but when put it back together, it stopped working all together. There were no notes from my mechanic who worked on my car that the key finder device had gone off.I’m made to look like the bad guy for trying to find out how this irritable noise began. 5 stars for fixing my car problem within the time frame they told me. 1 Star for the customer service.

BEST customer service EVER! My car air pressure light is on out of no where and I travel far to work. I came into the services center and they took care of me in less than an hour. Brought in my BRZ for a recall and everything went great. The cars runs so much smoother now after the repair, the NVH is way down. Worked with Jesse I believe. This was for the WTY84 recall for the FA20 engine. I was honestly going to get rid of the car but after this Im keeping it just because it is no longer a rattling mess that is stalling anytime its under 2000 rpms. Wow, blown away.

Came in with water a flooded cabin due to a known issue with Outbacks where water doesnt drain properly and backs up into the interior of the car, soaking the carpet and the foam underneath, which holds water like a sponge. Agreed to get costly 60k mile service done here since they were taking care of the issue. Got the car back still soaking with water and told they just threw some towels on it and couldnt do anything more for me. They got paid, Im still stuck with a soaked interior.

I had previously tried to address an issue with my vehicle three times at another Subaru service center. These guys woukdnt let me leave the first time without getting to the bottom of it. The staff has overall great attitude and energy Allen, Juan, and Reggie were all super helpful and genuinely wanted to assist me! Great service! I will definitely be returning for my next check-up. P.S. to the previous reviewer if youre the only review and rating and youre going to post one star because of price? Take your complaints elsewhere. Unless you have constructive criticism of actual service provided, the folks working on your car have no control over the cost of your visit other than timely labor which I would argue this crew is impeccable with cobsidering how many vehicles they service daily. Hopefully my five stars will balance out this single bunk review. Cheers yall thanks for the service!
