Needed a barrel for my Remington 1100. Terry was very helpful and found one within a couple of weeks and shipped it directly to me after having it refinished. Will definitely use them again.

I got myself backed into a corner with a 10/22 project build using only aftermarket parts. If it werent for the high quality, fast, and reasonably priced work done by Simmons, Id be stuck with a useless barrel. Now it runs like a champ.

I recently had Simmons to straighten a L.H. 1100 barrel and center the point of impact. The work was perfect and the price was reasonable considering what they had to work with. I previously had gotten two area gunsmiths to work on it with very poor results. They really know what they are doing at Simmons. Jessica was a pleasure to work with and certainly knows what is progressing in the shop. Experience could not be better. I would recommend them to do your work.Murray JacksonHoney Grove, Tx

Im incredibly happy with the quality of work and the service. I’ve been waiting 15 years to get this repair done on what’s essentially the legacy of hunting in our family. They came highly recommended. I’ll be sending you some more very soon. Thank you Grandpa and Dad would be very happy.

22 cal Rifle was in repair shop for 5 months over a shell jamming / misfiring issue. I called repeatedly to get updates. Rifle was returned repaired for $235.00. The first attempt to fire rifle, it was absolutely no better than when I dropped it off. Contacted shop and there was an offer to look at it again at no charge.

Simmons did an amazing job repairing my WW1 era rifle. With historical rifles, it is important to keep as much of the originality of the item intact as possible, and Simmons did that very well with that. They also put a lot into the craftsmanship so there is a seamless blend between the old and replacement parts.

I have went into so many gun stores and pawn shops today with no luck at finding what I need or talking to anyone helpful with the way the world is going it seems everyone is out of everything and pushing gun sales on you. These people at Simmons were the nicest and most helpful I have ever talked to very knowledgeable and when no one else had what I needed Simmons took care of me. I will be returning as soon as I can to custom build my next gun not sure I will go anywhere else but here in my future.

These people completely reduced the value of my gun. They put on the wrong part and told me it was the only one they used for the past 30 years, it was like taking a blue care in to have the door painted and because the shop did not have blue paint, they painted it white feeling that would be ok. Upon complaining they refunded my money but now I am left with taking this gun to a real gunsmith to have their work undone and made right. I would never recommend them for anything...

EDIT: Simmons ended up calling me after my negative experience and refunded some of the cost and apologized for what happened. I appreciated them reaching out and getting me taken care of.I have been here before and had mixed experiences, but they lost me as a customer after my last service. I installed an Apex trigger in my M&P, but it still needed some work on the trigger bar loop, so I felt more comfortable having a professional work on that. They quoted me $45 for the service, and I later received a call from the gunsmith telling me that I had installed a trigger for a different gun, but he could make it work with some modifications. I was certain I installed the right part, but I gave the OK after he told me it would be about 30-45 minutes of labor. I later went home and saw the packaging on the trigger and it explicitly stated that it was the correct part for my gun, and I even called Apex and they confirmed it as well. When I went to pick up the pistol, they charged me $150 for the service that was originally supposed to be $45, due to the custom work on the incorrect trigger. Even when I presented the packaging of the trigger that clearly stated it was made for the gun, the guy at the front counter stuck to the story that it was the wrong part. The custom work was essentially working on the trigger bar loop (the actual work I needed done), and grinding away the backstop of the trigger causing excessive and unnecessary overtravel. So I ended up paying 3 times what I was quoted entirely due to the incompetence of the gunsmith, and Im left with a functional yet less than ideal trigger job on a high-end trigger with no effort from Simmons to make it right.

I have done business here a few times,,,and not once have I had any problems. Larry was and is my go to man. Always polite and always takes care of me professionally. The rude guy mentioned below must be gone or is in hiding as I have not experienced anything but professionalism. Decent prices as well. I would rather wait for a few more days and have it done right than take it back.

Really seems to depend on who you deal with. I had a revolver re-blued, and they did a fantastic job and charged a reasonable price, but the job took nearly 3 months after I was given a 1 month estimate. The fellow I spoke with when I picked up the revolver was very kind and professional; however, there is some older guy that I sometimes run into, and he is not very polite. In fact, sometimes outright rude. I just came in today to get a quote on removing a magazine disconnect from a Browning Hi Power, and he refused to perform the service due to liability. Took it to Tactical Advantage in Overland Park, and they were eager to earn my business and performed the service for a measly $20. I probably wont be going back to Simmons after seeing how much better the competition is.

Took a model 70 pre-64 in for a trigger weight adjustment. Larry told me that “ We only do what is necessary to achieve the goal”. Red flag number two after price. $135.00. They didn’t achieve the initialGoal and asked what I wanted to do. I decided to accept the gunsmiths word for what the problem was.Told me I had to search for parts because his time couldn’t be wasted doing that. I did and spent a pretty penny. Finally was called that it was done. They added another bill. I paid it rather than making a scene.Took my rifle to another gunsmith the next day and he told me there was no obvious signs of a trigger job.I asked if I should write the owner and was advised by two other local smiths that it wont make a differenceThis is my first review of any company. It simply was bad business=== many frustrating details left out.GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!

They added a competition rib, added sighs reblued entire gun and polished my bolt and carrier on my 1923 Winchester model 12 and did an amazing job I was shocked on how great the quality of bluing was and how fast my gun got turned around. Larry and the gang was a pleasure to work with. Will be using again for future projects

Repaired my duty pistol free of charge when it started acting up. I didn’t even make it home, by the time they called me to come pick it up. Recently did a beautiful paint job on my rifle, took it from looking worn and very well used to looking brand new. Not only did they paint the exterior but they painted the bolt and charging handle too. Only down side they did not lube the rifle before returning it to me.

The new store is beautiful and the sales people are a pleasure to work with. Please dont take your gun there for repair. After speaking with the gunsmith from the back I realized my 16 year has more knowledge of guns than he did. A very rude condescending person with an attitude. Although, its only a matter of time and he will be gone...business wont last long with him!

I have walked in to this place on two separate occasions to have some work done on my gun. On both occasions, they acted like they didnt want to bother with my repair work. Maybe that was intentional but they couldnt give an exact quote, couldnt say when they would have it done and were pretty smug about it. Intentional or not, I am never going to this place again. On the first occasion, I took my gun to gunsmithing only in Shawnee and the guy helped teach me how to do the repair he was doing, had it done in 15 minutes, and didnt charge me a dime. The only thing he asked for was that I tell my friends about his place so I am trying to follow through on that promise.

Have a saiga russian AK that these guys moved the trigger assembly forward, machined the mag well out and bullet guide installed. Took a little while (partly my fault because I brought them the wrong parts), but got it back and it has performed FLAWLESSLY after 1500 rounds! Also educated me on making sure the firearm was 922r compliant. Top notch!

Well the rude guy must be gone. Because Larry and the others were courteous, informative, and very helpful. Perhaps, since this is a small business, if you are local to Olathe, visit in person to ask your questions. People do tend to be curt on the phone when people are standing in line.To the point. If you want gun work --- here is the place. Larry and the staff know their stuff.

Over the last three years I have taken five guns into them for repair and one to be reblued - all inherited and not maintained well by my grandfather; some were missing springs, one a magazine tube, another a firing pin on an 1898 Mauser was sheared and a new one needed to be machined. Their service has always been good, prices reasonable and what was quoted. I do not know who the rude person might be, but everyone I have dealt with was friendly. Their service is one reason why I have been back.

We took some old Brownings in for re-bluing and repair. We were told they would look like new. They will look like they did when they came from Browning lol, no, not even close. Simmons does not offer the high polished bluing, therefor their bluing is cheap, dull and rough. These guns looked awful. One gun the bluing started to rub off while I was polishing it using a microfiber cloth. I had to resend all guns in to a more professional gun repair shop in Missouri for bluing and woodwork. Hence, this was after well over 3 grand spent at Simmons. The other shop got them to look like they are supposed to, high polished bluing, just like Browning or any high-end gun would look like. Simmons lied about what they can do, they accused me of purposely using something harsh to remove bluing LOL, really? They charge for woodwork and the wood looks awful, checkering is a joke and the finish is subpar. If you value your guns do not use these guys. You will regret it and have to have them done again by someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

Never have I ever been so upset as to write a review about a business. I had called to ask how much it would cost to have my already installed night sights zeroed in to align properly, however the person over the phone was extremely rude and talked to me in a very condescending tone and interrupted me mid sentence by saying Look, it only costs 40 or 50 bucks to install it so its not even going to cost that much, as if he wanted to hang up already. I was so confused and shocked as to how a business can be so unprofessional. I concur with the other three reviews that this man is very rude to customers, Im surprised they even stay in business. I honestly hope to God this is not the owner. I will never give a dime to this place. If you have self respect and expect professional services, do yourself a favor and go with GunsmithingOnly. They only charge 25 dollars if youre willing to wait 25 minutes, and they were extremely polite, upbeat and personable.
