Excellent dealer! Was an absolute pleasure to work with. Knowledgeable staff and everything went smoothly. Ill definitely be back when Im in the market again for another boat. Cheers.
If you are looking for a boat in North Phoenix, you must check out Laken Water Sports, and if you are lucky, hope to work with Emily Heally. Super low pressure, very upfront, patient, empathetic, and overall just a great buying experience. Emily in particular was great in responding to repeated text messages about super small detail questions, and being patient with my bank that required me be a rather annoying customer at times… (sorry, Emily!). Super win also that their shop fixed a couple small things and did a killer detail on the boat to start, then followed up with me after the first boat day to make sure everything went well, which of course it did. Great buying experience, can’t wait to refer any who ask. Thanks, Emily!
Purchased a boat from this place and Justin was my salesperson. He was awesome and this is the only reason getting a one star. After purchasing the boat the trailer brakes were making some noise so I text Justin and he said they would handle it. After a week and a half of them having the boat I picked it up and supposedly was good to go.I was told they put new pins on and pads on the trailer. I took the boat out that weekend and the tire on the trailer came off. When looking at everything we noticed all of the lug nuts were loose. Got the boat and trailer back into town and they sent their so-called shop manager over and he put the tire back on and said there was no damage. It has been 7 weeks since the purchase and still no registration or tags I was told the lady did the paperwork wrong so she has to resubmit it and is not allowed to issue another temporary tag which mine has expired . So now I have a boat sitting in storage that we are not able to use due to their mistake. Has not been a good experience after the purchase.
The owner of Laken Water Sports (Jared Pehrson) contacted me to buy a MasterCraft boat I had offered for sale on Facebook Marketplace. In Jared’s offer, he proceeded to act like Mr. Big Shot and told me that he would wire the money into my account the following day. I contacted Jared and we agreed on a sales price. Jared needed some boat information from me, which I provided him and then never heard another word from him. I left messages with 2 different people at his dealership for him to call me, I called Jared’s mobile several days in a row and left VM’s and also sent him numerous text messages… which all of my attempts went completely unanswered! When a deal is made with someone, you honor it or at least have the decency of letting them know that you’re no longer interested. Jared Pehrson is a very unprofessional business man, obviously has no integrity whatsoever and I personally would not recommend doing any business with him!!
Spent a long time shopping for a boat. Found a well priced Sanger at Laken and pulled the trigger. Jared was great in helping with a quick and easy transaction. Shipped to California at a reasonable rate and consistently checked in to make sure everything was ok. Boat arrived perfect and in great shape.
Walked in on monday morning at 9:30 and was on the lake with my new boat by 12:30pm. Justin handles sales and he was the man! He even met us out on the lake and helped me get acclimated to the new ride. All around it was a fun experience and id recommend anyone and everyone to come here for your next boat purchase. Thanks guys!
We can’t thank Chris enough for all his help in the boat buying process. He walked us through every single detail to ensure we got the best wake surf boat for our family ! Anyone who is interested in purchasing should go visit Chris or anyone at Laken Wareraports! They also helped us stock up on all our boating gear!Thank you,Dusty and Danielle
My boat sat in dry dock at the lake for a year while I lived in Australia which of course not great for a boat here in AZ. Besides bad fuel, I have several hoses and the fuel pump that needed attention. Another shop couldnt fix it. I took it into Laken. Scott the mechanic was awesome and really knows boats. It took a little longer than I may have wanted but trying to find parts for a 25 year old boat with a motor they havent made in years, wasnt easy.
Staff were so nice. We bought a boat!Update: the process took forever and then after we put the boat in the water for the first time there were things wrong. So we had to take the boat back for repairs. This has been really frustrating.
Jared with Laken Water Sports bought our boat and made it so easy! We don’t even live in AZ. They sent payment by wire and sent someone to pick it up. It all happened so quick and flawlessly! Easiest sale ever!! Thank you!!
I recently purchased a boat from Laken Water Sports and we very happy with the experience. I feel as though I got a great boat for a great price and the Laken Team was very helpful. The best part about it was meeting me at Lake Pleasant and going over everything in the boat and answering general questions. If you are in the market for a boat, I would highly encourage you to look at Laken Water Sports first!
Laken is a stand up shop. Stood behind their service and their product. 2006 Malibu Wake setter, had it serviced. Laken brought it out to the lake for us and did a ride along to confirm all the issues were resolved. Also followed up with me on any questioned I had about my boat as well as a possible future purchase. I actually drove out to Vegas to look at a used heyday which turned out to be some guys rental boat and was beat to hell. Worst shape boat I had ever seen and it was a 2020. I will very much so bring my watercraft into Laken again and also plan to make a future heyday purchase with them. Hard to get things right 100% of the time in the service/sales industry but Laken went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend.
Jared and Justin were awesome... down to earth, no pressure sales push.... just a great bunch of people that love boating! Couldn’t have been a better experience even during this crazy Covid-19 pandemic. Would highly recommend going to check them out!
Purchased a new 70k pontoon boat. Had to go back 4xs because boat was never detailed and was filthy. Seats were marked up and we were told 9 months before getting the new ones. Motor is scared up and told it can not be covered under warranty. Everyone at Laken has an I dont give a sh** attitude .Dont go there to buy a boat!!!Pay the gas money and go to Lake Havasu to buy your boat. Someone in there review stated that an employee took them to the lake to go over their new boat, I find this hard to believe as every time we asked a question, not one employee could answer the question.Did I even mention that we bought a NEW boat but the trailer had been damaged and they sold it to us as NEW.
Jared and his team made the process of selling my boat incredibly easy and hassle free. I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with Laken Water Sports again in the future.
I highly recommend purchasing your boat at Laken!
As a first time boat owner I was nervous about purchasing a vessel without any knowledge about boats or insight into what I should pay attention to. The staff at Laken went above and beyond to insure I was matched with the perfect boat and even covered boat owner basics to help me understand boat ownership and operation. They even took me out on the water for a tutorial! I wouldn’t think of ever going anywhere else.
We had a great experience at Laken Water Sports! We were in the market for our first wake/surf boat and came across the Sanger brand. Jared was extremely helpful and fair on his price. The service was fantastic and we could not be more happy with the boat and the Laken team. We will definitely return for all of our service and accessory needs as well as our next boat purchase. Check them and Sanger out you will not be disappointment!
These guys will knock your socks off with great customer service. With such a new business and the craziness of the used boat market... wow!! Was I impressed!! Keep up the hard work and dedication Laken and you’ll have an amazing business for years to come!
It is the place where you take the boat to get it fixed and they return it to you more damaged than when you took it, it is to be able to continue charging more and more money in the end you pay more to them than what the boat cost you
Currently in the market for a boat and sent an online inquiry to Laken. I followed up with a phone call and Chris was super helpful, friendly, and informative. He asked questions about what I was looking for and provided a lot of great info on some of their inventory.
Small place cant find parking lot so I guess you park on the street to visit got lots of boats for sale has a wait for service
Although we ended up finding a boat elsewhere. Our customer service from Chris at Laken did not go undocumented! We will definitely be referring them to others looking for boats! So prompt and great to work with!
Amazing service. Had my boat in for an annual service and it was done almost overnight. These guys are incredible! Great communication throughout and ultra convenient. I will definitely be coming back!
I would highly recommend A-1 Custom Marine in Phoenix. They have worked on our boat for a couple years now. Moving to Phoenix from a boating town, we were concerned that we wouldnt find anyone who could work on our boat. We tried a few different shops, but they didnt do what they said they would do, they were slow in getting the work done, or it took several trips in to get the work finished correctly.Jeff, the owner at A-1, is reliable and honest. He calls with information about the boat explaining what work needs to be done. He does what he says needs to be done and finishes in a timely manner. Jeff truly cares about his customers and goes the extra mile for them. He even took the time on our last visit to teach us how to do a routine maintenance item ourselves. He loves what he does, and it shows through his business.
Horrible Dealer. Horrible communication. Doesn’t listen and follow thru with what is said. Text messages galore if you show interest in their boats. Once they deem you not worthy, they ignore you. Bad business.
Jeff at A-1 Marine is AWESOME. I have dealt with A-1 Marine for the last 5 years and 4 different boats and this is my only boat service center. They are very honest and I have never had a bad experience with them. Everyone is friendly and most important - HONEST. They treat all boats the same - like their own.Im not sure what happened with the other so called reviews, but when I take my boat in for service, I want it fixed right - thats why I keep coming back to A-1 Marine.
A1 took care of me and my 95 mastercraft. They did exactly what I wanted and chased down a hard to find part. Took the boat out today and all issues were addressed as requested. Extremely happy with their service and turn around. Definitely will use them again.
We brought our 2015 Suntracker Pontoon here for yearly service and to replace the bunks on the trailer. We usually just go to Bass Pro Shop because that is where we purchased the boat. They told us it would be 12 weeks before they could get to it. We then went to Laken Water Sports which isnt far from our house. So glad we did. We are very impressed with this shop. They said they would be done by the end of the week, and they were!! They updated us on the progress. If you have ever taken a boat to a boat repair shop before, you probably found that what they say for a timeframe and what they do for a timeframe are two very different things. This place actually does what they say they are going to do and in the time they say they are going to do it. Prices were reasonable. The bunks look great. We cant say enough good things about this place and they will be our go to shop for boat repairs/service in the future. I am already telling other boat owners I know about Laken Water Sports as well.
Got some seat cushions we lost made from scratch with the help of a template we borrowed from a friend- the quality is top notch. Definitely worth getting a quote if youre looking for upholstery/custom work. Friendly staff.
Answered my questions promptly and were very easy to work with.
Great place to buy a boat! Very honest folks!!
I met Jeff and the staff from A-1 Marine . several years ago when my boat interior was destroyed in a hail storm.they gave me a quote for complete interior.my boat is a 96 Glastron 21 foot V Hull they replaced the carpet and all interior side panel seats foam wood .job was done in a timely and professional manner my boat look brand new again. Ive since been back several times for more work to my fifth wheel interior and for more stuff for my boat. would recommend them to anybody thank you A1Marine
Went there today to get water pump for a Johnson motor they no longer carry any Johnson parts and it looks like all the boats they had in the area where wake boats. Seems to me its a very limited customer base
I dropped off my 1991 19ft Bayliner outboard motor with A1-Marine on 09-26-16 (Monday) at around 10am. Upon arrival the staff was quick to respond and appeared to be laid back, polite, didnt beat around the bush. I brought in my boat which was just recently purchased. The reason for bringing in the boat was simple. The previous owner had placed a 70hp motor on the back of the boat but had failed to install it correctly. After speaking with the two gentleman at A1 they informed me it would run about $250 for them to check out the motor and find out what needs to be done to get it running. After signing some forms i decoupled the trailer from the jeep and left it with them. I then called on 09-27-16 (Tuesday) at 11am and asked about the status of the motor. It was at this time that i was informed it could be a few days before it would be checked out. I was reassured that the mechanics would reach out to me once they completed their diagnostics. On (Thursday) 09-29-16 I received a call from them informing me that they would need to put over a thousand into the motor just to see if it would work. They informed me that it appeared the motor was submerged at one point. At this point they informed me that it would probably be a good idea to get another used motor. I was then referred to John Shaban who sells and installs outboard motors for a reasonable price. I ended up purchasing a 75hp Force motor for 2200 which included the installation fee. Overall they had wonderful customer service and i plan on taking my boat back to them in the future for maintenance.
They might know upholstery, but dont let these people work on your engine. I came in for overheating issues on my boat, and spent about $800 on work. When I took the boat out next, after they said they tested it thouroghly with no issues, the engine over heated. After opening her up, we saw that the 2 coolant hose had a pretty evident hole in the side... something that might only have been seen noticed if either looking for something, or running the engine for a few minutes. Would never bring my boat back there.
I recenlty hired A-1 for a motor swap and outdrive service on my Bayliner. They do quality work and I found their mechanics to be knowledgeable, experienced and most importantly honest. I would highly recommend them.
I bought a very nice used Sea Ray. The steering was stiff. Marine Max changed the actuator to no avail. Finally they said, thats normal. Ugh. Good boat mechanics are sooooo hard to find. I read a good review of A-1 Marine. Since I also need a new front bimini top, I figured Id give them a try. The owner, Jeff, is very down to earth. His lead mechanic, Scott, is fantastic. Immediately, then suspected that the steering cable had too many turns in it, since, in the stern, it had to S around a large plastic water reservoir. I was dubious, since of course Sea Ray built the boat this way. The fix required removing THE ENGINE, then reducing the size of the water container, and installing a shorter cable. I said H*LL NO! Too rich for my budget! But then they found that the spline coupler on the outdrive was worn to nubs, a common problem since the couple on the engine is aluminum and the shaft on the outdrive is steel. Coincidentally, the fix required removing the engine. Okay, Im depressed, but I figured I may as well fix the steering at the same time. Several days later, the engine was out. To save money, they let me take the water container to a shop to be reduced. I stopped into their shop a couple of times as the process continued. They always took the time to explain to me what was going on. Finally it was done and I headed to Lake Pleasant to test it. Sure enough, it worked like a dream. They also fixed the speedometer and installed new Bearing Buddies. Calling them wasnt enough... I stopped by in person to thank them. Finally, an honest, reasonable, courteous, boat shop. Oh yeah, the bimini was fantastic too!
Jeff is awesome to work with, courteous, and honest.
Ok
