Got off the plane hungry and cranky.... we were looking for a different place to eat at but but stumbled in here by mistake.It is now the third day in the Valley and this was hands down the best food we have had so far. Totally veg and vegan friendly and a really nice and welcoming staff. Highly recommended and super close to the airport. Make it your first stop when you come into town.
I was a little hesitant to walk in at first but I’m sooo happy I did. I loved this place. First of all the service there was amazing everyone who worked there was so sweet. We got a hot habibti latte and a iced dirty chai latte and they both were amazing.I’m honestly always looking to support the local shops especially during this time. But this place for sure is a hidden gem and really deserves recognition. The coffee has to be one of the best that i’ve had in the valley. Love this place and love the atmosphere. Great art, vibes, place to hang out with friends, a date, or to study. Great seating too!
This place it’s absolutely wonderful! The service is outstanding, the owners really show love and passion and pride for their business and it really shows. The menu is creative, delicious and there are some unique things to chose that no other Mexican-like restaurant offers. Every time we come here we have tried different things and we loved them, ever since my husband and I moved to Phoenix, this has been our favorite place to go have a nice drink, get some study time, enjoy a nice artsy atmosphere, good music but above all, outstanding service. We highly recommend this place.
First time trying it and didnt disappoint, the cinnamon cafecito I tried was amazing and the galletas were 👍🏽 The service was awesome our waitress was pleasant and very friendly, made me feel welcomed. The atmosphere was cool and laid back, me and my Tía were able to chat for hours and not feel pressured to leave. Ill definitely be back and suggest it to mi familia and friends!
Great place. Stopped in for lunch and drinks this afternoon. Staff is awesome, food is amazing, drinks are incredible and all for a great price. Gotta make this a go to place in a fun growing area just west of downtown Phoenix.

Super cool place, even for one of the coolest parts of town (Grand Ave). True to its name, the hipster vibes were everywhere, be it the cool wall art, eccentric stand up comedian, or authentic Mexican food (try the crickets). Certainly looking forward to seeing this place again soon!
If you’re in the mood for a little “mezcalita,” there’s no better establishment than El Charro Hipster. Art-filled, cozy, inviting. It’s a truly unique and pleasant space. Francisco and his family go out of their way to ensure they’re serving excellent food and beverage. He has an assortment of rare beers, a full coffee bar, and a diverse menu of food and snacks. El Charro is a must see for anyone in the downtown area.
I love this place. Great prices and greater vibe. This is a family owned, independent establishment that is ran with heart. El Charro provides more than a resturant/cafe/bar but a home for various types of artists to create and express. I cant say enough about how much I love this place. Dont listen to the Karens leaving bad reviews. This place is great!
Such an amazing find! This Cafe offers delicious, authentic Mexican and Spanish dishes with a twist! The atmosphere is great and the owner and staff are super friendly and hospitable. 10 out of 10 would recommend you find yourself in downtown Phoenix.

We loved the atmosphere and friendliness, but were happily surprised at how delicious was the food! Wow! For a casual place to go after 8 PM, this was perfect. There was also live music. What a treat all around.
Excellent food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff, easy parking, good drinks, eclectic menu - what more could you ask for? We happened upon this gem by virtue of being at the State Fairgrounds, about a mile away, and 4 60+ year olds had a really fun lunch.
I just moved into the neighborhood and discovered this place. Sunday morning live music, it was better than church! I have a feeling I will be spending many many many hours and way too much of my money at this incredible place. The staff made me feel like I was part of their family, the entertainment was top notch, and the food is out of this world!
This place has such an iviting atmosphare, I just wish they had more vegan options on their menu & kids menu. They are so nice to let us bring our vegan shrimp tacos from next door, thank you for being so ocomodating.

This place looked really good on the map and I am sure a lot of people have good experiences here looking at the other reviews. The food though I had today was mediocre - Paella that had looked good on the picture, was served by a server calling me Hon and Love ll the time, and who was otherwise not very attentive, in an uninspired way on a styrofoam plate, and it was also cold and a small portion. Then it was 15.50 instead of the 12.50 on the menu, because it was, quote handcrafted event paella. Really?

In the middle of painting at my studio I had some late evening coffee cravings and walked to El Charro for some bean water and a warm delicious empanadas... the combo was flawless and their coffee is absolute quality. Bravo as always!

Im not a big hot tea drinker but decided to try something differnt on this cold morning. This place is awesome. She makes the tea fresh right in front of you and it is delicious. On top of that she just took out the oven some chi spice cinnamon rolls and covered them with this awesomeness she called frosting that she just whipped up right then and there...hooked

A delight! Vegan food (black bean burger on croissant); healthy beverages that taste really good (oj, banana and, was it pineapple?), and, oh, what joy, espresso that tastes like the real thing!!! Great service, with a dance included with the delivery. And the chairs, no 2 look alike, all painted individually in a contest (as far as Im concerned, they all win first prize), (autocorrect had changed that to all are cutesie, and that is so, also). We will return for live music tomorrow (really! After 14 months of no live music, this is a dream!!) This place reminds me of the coffee shops I worked in soooo many years ago! Well, now you know how old I am, but that does not diminish the truthfulness of my pleasure in the discovery of this fun place!! PM

The staff is really kind, however, I felt like the food was the biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent on food. It didn’t taste good, it tasted so basic and on top of that the presentation was horrible. You could tell the rice was microwaved and placed on a paper plate. I was angry at myself for eating there even though I was starving. I hope the food gets better because the environment and the staff are pretty awesome.

Their food is good and they have great too shelf mezcals/tequilas. They are committed to supporting small artesian beverage producers so you will try to great, hand crafted drinks from all over the world.

El Charro Hipster is one of the best bars and cafe in Phoenix hands down! Their attention to detail and taste make every cocktail, coffee, and snack they serve out of this world. They are a family run and true part of the community. Try the Oaxaca mule, it’s the perfect drink. Love them!

My husband is a celiac and I’m vegan. This place had options for both of us and our waitress was so accommodating. The food was delicious — he had a chicken pizza and I had the soyrizo tacos. We also highly recommend the cupcakes (vegan and GF)!
This place is legit! You should do yourself a favor and get some authentic Spanish food. Across the pond Spanish, real Italian and Spaniard blend of food. The drinks are just as amazing. The mezcal and the beers here are no joke. The staff is all family so the love flows in abundance. Pull up you won’t be disappointed.

This has to be the cutest most unique cafe in downtown Phoenix. The staff is very kind and welcoming. Their menu items are unique - Spanish and Mexican influence and the coffee drinks are an experience in itself! Love this place and will be back

I ordered this one margarita that came with a paleta in it! It looked really fun and I enjoyed eating/ drinking my beverage. Great atmosphere. I went very late on a Friday night and enjoyed the company of my friends mainly because the crowd was very small. The owners are a married couple who have their daughter working side by side with them. I felt extremely comfortable there, almost like I was going into a family members home.
My friends and I were waiting to get a tattoo at the place next door and decided to wait inside this little cafe. Its really welcoming on the inside nice music chill atmosphere, but once we sat down things got weird. The guy (who is probably the owner) was really awkward and didnt really know how to interact with the customers. Stumbled when handing us the menus and just kind of stared at us. We needed some coffee, soda, and french toast sticks (all very delicious). He made a kind of gross remark when he dropped of the coffee but we wont talk about that. Anyways, after that we waited almost an hour for the check to show up and we asked for 1 check and they have us 3 separate checks.... after we had paid I was looking up at the bar area watching the guy make drinks... I watched him take a shot out of the measuring cup and used that same cup to prepare drinks for another customer. He didnt wash it or anything..... honestly not going to come back.
I love the charro family! gigi is so amazing and her parents are such beautiful people! they support local musicians and comedians and use their business as a home for them to practice! Their menu is so unique! ive tried the stuffed portabello, and their empanadas are so tasty! i always try to stop by for some margaritas or a fresh juice! thank you for all that you do!!
This place is wonderful. The owner spent a great deal of time with us explaining the different mezcals we were trying and it is obvious he both knows and cares about this. This honestly makes me want to live in the neighborhood so I could make this my neighborhood bar. Also the cocktails were awesome!
This is a cool little place with alot of history... the area is very decorative and lights up at night, making for a nice chill spot to take a stroll. The food is good and the drinks are mighty fine, they have live music on Fridays. There is plenty to choose from although the menu is short and sweet... definitely worth checking out
