What happened:1. My iPhone started heating up, so I went to visit this Apple store, asking if a technician could take out the battery from the phone, so as to prevent fire or explosion hazard due to the heating phone.2. The Apple staff in the store refused the service request for taking out the battery, with a rude attitude. In particular, one staff member said he was the manager and he explicitly told another staff member to repeat to me exactly what he (the manager) just said. The other staff member appeared hesitant at first, and finally had to comply and repeated what the manager said. What I think and feel:Regarding No. 2, the no battery service policy is probably a company-wide policy, not completely the fault of the staff at this store, but this policy completely ignores the dangers of fire or explosion hazard due to Apples own malfunctioning iPhone parts.Besides, the attitude of the Apple staff member who claimed to be the manager should be less rude when he explained the policy, and he shouldnt force another staff member to repeat exactly what he (the manager) had said to me. Even if its a company-wide policy, there are better ways to show it. As a customer, I felt VERY BAD about this experience.I appreciate the support and advice of a few other staff members during the above process.
My phone broke the day I had to leave for vacation. The man who helped me was very kind helping me get an iPhone from using android. When I found out I wasn’t able to pay monthly for the iPhone 12 with my plan, he was able to help me find something in my budget.
Had an issue trading in a phone a few months ago, they said they’d call me back once they figured it out. They never did. Got charged for two phones all that time and now that I finally was able to trade the old one in, I only got back a portion of what I paid. The guy that helped me today was very nice and understanding but the two women who “helped” me before were incompetent and cost me a lot of money because of it. I’m glad this worked out ok overall but it definitely wasn’t ideal and I’m not going to be returning to this Apple store in the future.
Let me first start by saying I walked in 15 minutes before closing. I was greeted quickly and courteously. I came in to buy a phone and the salesman was honest that it would be difficult to complete the transaction prior to closing. I then explained that I was buying the phone without a contract. The salesman made the transaction easy and pleasant as well as quick. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes with no pressure to purchase extras or un-needed extras. I came in for something in specific, and left with exactly what I needed in a friendly and efficient manner. Lots of other sales reps could learn a lot from this store and their marvelous employees.
Friendly staff who will pull up all the necessary information and help you decide what suits your needs the best. Store is pretty big and they have a nice stock of almost everything. Student discounts are available on macbooks. Huge variety of non apple accessories also available for iphones, ipads, macbooks etc. Would definitely visit again.
This isn’t directly aimed at the Shadyside store but at Apple in general. We purchased two MacBook Airs in March and traded in two iMacs. I admittedly missed the return date by a few days but it has been a nightmare since. They would not reinstate the trade in saying the value of my devices had gone down in less than a week. I was frustrated but since I made the mistake, I proceeded with a fresh trade in as instructed. I was then sent an additional 6 huge boxes (8 total)!!! I called both Apple and Phobio support and was brushed off and told I could have a refund for the two new laptops. There is so much waste in this “recycling” program - it’s a joke. Now the icing on the cake, Phobio is claiming pixel damage on the higher valued desktop reducing the quote by over 50%. The computer was in perfect condition. Apple, you need to take a serious look at this process, reevaluate and support appropriately.
Wry nice and helpful staff and if you have an appointment they serve you right away, if you don’t have a appointment though, you have to waitI went in to buy an Apple Watch and they were out of many options (watch and band) so if you are not in a rush try ordering online
Amazing store, they helped with my questions. Everyone was very knowledgeable.
Quick and painless shopping experience. Everyone wearing masks and staff on hand directing the flow of traffic around the store to keep us moving.
Really nice staff and obviously you cant beat the product.
Been having an overall horrible experience with apple and their policies for the past week but to top it all off at this location after having dealings with the manager and in my frustration telling them to just keep the device, and he instructs me he will place it in the lost and found. I then return back into the store to obtain my phone when he then places it on a table that is clearly blocked off due to a roof leak in the store causing potential damage to my device. Extremely negligent behavior on their part and I will surely escalate this as high as it can go!
Corry, Shadyside Apple Store Genius, solved my battery charging problems => system upgrade and new MFI vertices cables and cubes. Bravo. David Pollock, Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh
Helpful staff, you can try all the different Apple products. They also help with any issues in your device.
Good store. Needed. Please keep. Keep more employees please. Thanks
The best Apple store in town! The employees are really nice and helpful.
It’s a good store, clean, and staff are friendly.
Very nice Apple Store, and friendly staff.
Try another store or shop online. I received bad service at the Apple Shadyside store. The person who was helping me told me they are store general manager. Other review below also reference poor experience with the same manager. So…Apple get on that.
The associated that was assigned to me was knowledge regarding my needs and very helpful.
To crowded, waited and hour for any service, parking Is horrible, be prepared its not your in and out shop and parking, good luck!
My Apple Watch cellular was not working and I was hoping going to the store saves me some time… I was sent home once, and waited an hour for the second time even though I had an appointment and waited for another hour for the technician to mess up my phone and Apple Watch just to be told at the end that I should call support and they cannot do anything. They also accidentally activated iCloud which I specifically said I don’t want to do. Store manager John and technician Kel could not be more obnoxious, rude, and unprofessional… I was told they cannot send my watch for repair, but that clearly was a lie after talking to the customer service. Save yourself some time and headache and call support before going to this absolutely useless store
The service at this store had always been a hit or miss... but it seems off late it’s really in the gutters. Even pre-pandemic you could always run into reps who just do not want to help. I agree that you prioritize people who are buying immediately... but part of the service is helping people so they can make up their mind about what and to buy. That element just doesn’t exist here. I suppose they get enough business to operate that way.
The store is ok and the delivery was prompt, but some products are low quality and support will not help. My iPad sat on a nightstand for about 3 months before I noticed that it was slightly warped.Support claimed that it was my fault and I got charged for “accidental damage.” I’m selling it ASAP after I pay to get it fixed since I don’t want to deal with this again, so I recommend staying away from Apple products even though they seem high-end. I don’t know if it was the product or the store’s handling of it.I wasn’t going to leave a review, but I’m so angry that the AppleCare team said that they never heard of warping and that it would take a lot to have that damage, which is an obvious lie. A quick search and asking around showed that it’s a known issue. I should’ve done more research.
They are doing a good job of managing everything during COVID. Everyone is friendly and helpful.UPDATE: My iPhone took a dive and the screen was shattered. They were able to get me in and get it repaired in about an hour! Thank goodness for AppleCare. I have always had a great experience at Apple Shadyside. They rock!
My daughter had her wireless headphones repaired...in & out in an hour...courteous and efficient employees.Covid sensitive- took temperatures, social distanced employees & customers.Great 1st experience in an Apple store
Have been to this apple store twice in less than a month and I will never return. The employees are nice, however my phone when in for a battery replacement and I came out with audio issues (couldnt hear people on the phone unless it was on speaker or had headphones in) and I had to bring it back. They wanted to charge me $279 for fixing the problem THEY caused. Luckily, I was covered because I spoke with apple on the phone multiple times before my apple care ran out, and they covered the cost. However, when I got my phone back, they gave it to me with a new screen... I was never told I was getting the screen replaced and I had just got an expensive glass screen protector put on from my phone carrier. The employee who gave me my phone back tried to sell me a new cover and told me the employee I worked with was supposed to inform me of this. So much miscommunication and now im out a screen protector all because they caused a problem that required fixing. Not the way you run a business.
Friendly great customer service. I was in and out quickly.
I am a huge fan of Apple products, and I have been since the 80’s! They have friendly service at the Apple store. I am a fan of their service, products, and services provided.
I made appointment ahead of time, because Apple requires it and because I value my time....I have been waiting 35 mins and counting. If you, Apple, cant get customers in ontime as per YOUR REQUIERED booking, then dont offer appointments, because you dont provide ontime service. I am late to work and I am yet to see someone. Bull
Very bad service.i was overlooked. I waited for someone to help me but, no service-- I left after waiting for about 20 minutes.
I understand covid restrictions but standingin line outside in the cold when you have an appointment is no fun. They need to figure out a better plan. Staff were very helpful and did the best they could the 2 separate days I was there.
I loved the experience, even during the COVID pandemic this store is still running very well!!! Asdaq (I hope I spelled that right! Sorry!) was my apple genius and he was so helpful!!! He really shared how to go through steps to see the problem with my phone, and he was super nice too. I loved the customer experience there, and I’m sure to be an apple consumer for many years to come if they keep this up!!!
Great check in/ reservation process. Helpful Staff. Clean store.
The staff here, especially the greeters, are incredibly rude, hostile, and standoffish. I wanted to purchase a screen protector for my phone while I was in the area, and was told I was not allowed into the store without an appointment. When I asked if I could just get the specific product I wanted, I was told there was no way to purchase anything without an appointment. The Ross Park Mall store is filled with much more polite staff. Just go there, dont bother with this store and its aggressive staff.
Worst management ever!I went to store to purchase i phoneinstead of just selling me right awayhe said come tomorrow w appointment.
So you get your temperature taken at the front door which is cool. Then they tell you to go in but another team member wants to know why you’re there and then she decided if they take you or not? It was 6:15 and she told me they were closing but then allowed two other females in who came after me who also stated they did not have appointments and when I tried to enter they actually put their arms out to stop me and touched my chest. I was confused so I called support and the gentleman I spoke with couldn’t tell me why they closed earlier and didn’t have an appointment Until Sept. 19th and it was the 4th. I had a “broken” phone and they expected me to wait that long?! Why do I pay for support if I can not get support when I need it? And WHY WHEN I WENT TO THE T-MOBILE STORE THE GENTLEMAN THEIR ACTUALLY FIXED MY PHONE IN UNDER A MINUTE BY PRESSING A COUPLE SIMPLE BUTTONS?! He also showed me how to fix the problem if it happened again. But I was so impressed I upgraded to two #iphone11’s; two new cases; two new screen protectors. Apple should know not all of their employees care about their customers!
The employees are ever sweet and layed back
My laptop was damaged while in their custody, and they not only refused to even attempt to make it right, they didnt even apologize.
We went to see the iPhone 12 series as we were looking to buy between pro and pro max.The people at the front door were really nice. They took our temperature and everything and sent us to another fella who had to show us the iPhones and he said are you here to look at it or buy and we were like rite now we have to look coz we are making up our minds between pro and pro max. And then his interest kinda dropped and told us to choose one colour as he was low in iPhone 12 and whatever we asked he said he was not having that colour but i could see all the colours on the table besides me. Really disappointed with the service did not expect this from apple.
They were so kind & respectful to me.
It says they are open and offer repairs, but they don’t and won’t let you in the building, they send you to call their aplcare number and you get the pleasure of being on the phone for roughly an hour, unless you have an appointment which is impossible to get especially if you have a small window each day your able to get your item serviced. My favorite part of my experience was being called bud by a 20 some year old employee while he avoided me like I had leprosy. So thank god I have the Apple care plus and am unable to use it
Least helpful people ever!!
We ended buying our laptop in Best Buy.
When I went in during the COVID pandemic, their safety and precautions were outstanding and above and beyond above any other store. The employees were great, they replaced my screen very quickly, and were super nice. Great store in a great environment!
I was harassed and threatened by one of their security personel simply for not wearing a mask on the sidewalk outside the store even after informing him that I will certainly wear one when I go in. Apple should be ashamed for intimidating and harrassing customers on public land. Its probably criminal.
Locked out of phone, went to store appointment only, I get it was told to scan said cant locked out. Go on line and make appointment she said, again locked out cant access phone, my comment to her was my stuff luck her comment was looks like it.I walked away.APPLE SUCKS...
Felt rushed and pressured. Not a good experience.
What happened was I had two things broken with my phone a bent charging port and a cracked screen. So outside and wait outside and some manager says we can fix it so i am like yay, then after an hour I finally get in and the guy looks at it and says to fix it you will need to replace the phone so it will cost $325.00 That is much more than the value of the phone and I ask how come ubreakifix can do it and he goes those third party companies are bad and as i am leaving the store I wanted to scream buy an Android!!
Odin, one of the techs at the Genius Bar on Walnut St. in Shadyside, is the best! He was super cool, really interesting, and exceedingly helpful. Thanks so much, man!Getting to interact with folks like him when you have product issue are what makes having Apple products a total value. What couldve been a reasonably painful experience anywhere else, was instead a great experience that resulted in me learning a lot and walking out the door smiling.
Fixed my Iphone SE very fast.
I am very upset by my experience at the Shadyside Apple. After claiming that they fixed my enter key, it worked literally once then stopped working again. I gave my computer to them for nearly 24 hours to gain nothing but a slightly cleaner screen. Very frusturating. ):
Simply awesome. An unmatched customer experience. Team members are smart, helpful and fun. They offer valuable inputs. If you have an issue with an Apple product, they dont need to be told much. They know what the problem and can easily get to the root cause. They have effective fixes. All in all, a great store!
One star for bad service. We went there to see iphone 12s so that we can make a judgement about how colors are visually before buying. Everyone was nice until the guy at the table, who didnt want to show any of the iPhones. I know its a lot busier for you, but dont tell on you website that we are open for display. Tell people we are only for shopping or pickups, so that we dont have to drive up there for nothing and waste our time.
They were attentive and informative. My daughter attended a coding and robotics course they had in the store that we were not aware of and she had fun. She wanted more sessions regarding that and judging by how the instructor was teaching my daughter I signed up for more sessions. And I recommended and spoke about the sessions with others. They will be seeing more of us.
Online order pick-up takes less than fifteen minutes. Quite impressive for an Apple store.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Avoid this Apple location.
The other day, I spilled OJ on my Mac and it short circuited, never turning on again. I ran to this Apple Store for help. Through my tears, the staff members were comforting, helpful, and provided quick service to let me know the diagnosis of my Mac. Not only that, they gave me tissues. Although my Mac needed to be replaced, I appreciate the staffs kindness during my rough morning.
Like the way they managed customers so efficiently during the pandemic and it wasnt a long wait.
Store clerks are unhelpful and make it impossible to get support for expensive products, much less by new ones. Do not recommend.
Apple is working hard to keep their employees and us safe during the pandemic.
Go android. Best switch I ever made.
They told me that my repair would take 5 days (excluding the Thanksgiving weekend) but got it done in 1.5 days. Pleasantly shocked.
Was way misinformed by the store when I called there to make an appointment I was told I did not need one to purchase a new IPhone just come on in when I got there I was told I did need appointment but the person when I arrived questioned me said it would be 2 hours later but I said I was told to just come over and she said that no one would have told you that so I just let and called again and this time I spoke to a guy named Randall and he said to come on back he would take care of me just to wait outside he would come and get me I waited over 20 minutes outside he never came but I ask.the door person who was letting everyone go in, was there a Randall there and said yes then he told me to stand there and just wait so after another 10 minutes I just leftThis is a very busy day at this store but I was not going to wait after being told just come over and wasted my time and there was supposed to be social distancing but everyone was piled in side the front door so close to each other so I was not going into the store and wait again so confused and aggravated waste of time unprofessional staff
Horrible horrible horrible customer service set up!!! Friday, was given a number to call about setting up a repair order, called on hold for an hour and a half, told sorry youll have to call your local apple. Called local apple on hold for an hour, sorry youll have to make an appt online. Finally got computer dropped off Friday was told it would be delivered in 3-4 days. And given a number to follow up on status. Online said it hadnt left store yet. Called number on hold for an hour, sorry youll have to call the local store.. currently 20 min on hold with the local store.. again..
The staff is always helpful. Great location.
Amazing service by Genius Bar guru, Odin. I laughed a mile a minute and left with the fullest confidence that my MacBook Pro was being handled with 100% care. I thought it was too good to be true that, upon his diagnosis, Id receive the level of Apple Care service to which he said I was entitled. Not only did I get my laptop back as quickly as he estimated, but each repair was completed exactly as he suggested it would. I was also visiting from out of town, and nervous about my essential work device being left in Pittsburgh to be shipped (to Texas) for service, and hopefully returned to me at home the same week. Odin put me at ease in the most classic way possible: with the right balance of humor and seriousness that it would all be okay. Thanks, Dude. P.S. Props to this Apple store for following COVID-19 protocols. Some customers werent happy, but Pittsburgh needs to take care. Theyre about 3 months behind us east coast folks, and theyre the Pittsburgh model for how to play it super-safe.
Ok
Extremely disappointed that I waited over an hour for a technician to assess my under warranty phone touch screen to be told it was refurbished (which I knew it was not) and they would have to charge 279.99. When I asked to speak with a manager he went into cars salesman mode on how my phone could have been refurbished by me or someone else I lent it to by using eBay (which I knew neither occurred) but that he would buy my phone back for 450 and I should drop Verizon and I could start a new payment plan with them. After gaining a second opinion from a different Apple location with time spent, gas spent, and day rearranged, a second Apple store replaced parts without hesitation and verified it was legitimate. May be an isolated incident, but proceed with caution and get a second opinion ! Will not return.
They were very helpful and did things with a sense of urgency. Parking is limited. There was plenty of staff and customers were in and out quickly.
Very good thats to the lady that waited on me. And my son. She was very good at her job and great energy.. thank you....
Good place and smart people. Our iPhone 6 blew up. It was out of warranty. They replaced it anyway, which was terrific. However, I only gave 4 stars because they claimed that our phone had a 3rd party battery. We bought the phone used but we knew the person and he showed us email verifying when he got the phone, which was 11 months ago. We were suspicious that it really wasnt a 3rd party battery but that they might have said it was to limit their liability. The genius said any iPhone that blows up had to have a 3rd party battery. I asked to see the battery twice and he said no that the phone was already in the safe. I like the store and I was happy to get it replaced with new iPhone 6 for free. And in this case no one got hurt. If it happens to you I recommend that you check the battery out closely and take a picture of it before you take it in just to be on the safe side.
Great service. Liked this store
They are taking covid precautions very seriously. Danielle was a great salesperson.
Solid store. Only thing that really sucks is finding a parking spot. They should honestly close this store down and move it to the old Best Buy location at The Waterfront. Plenty of parking and would be a much bigger store.
Poor phone explanation of the questions I had. Like they were reading from a script and didnt answer my question.
Quick and reliable service as expected from Apple
I stopped in with a genius bar appointment to check an issue with the usb port on a MacBook. The shop was very busy but I was greeted immediately on arrival and checked in at the door for the appointment. The wait at the bar was pleasant and the appointment right on time. All employees acknowledged and greeted me as the passed and made sure nothing was needed.
I had a good experience with my visit there. I had to talk to 3 male employees before the tech that helped me with my problem. He was very knowledgeable about the I pad that I brought in that day. He was able to update my I pad to the current system that is used today & he was very pleasant to deal with. I believe that he will go far in his business.
Totally love the staff very friendly and helpful.
Visited store twice to make a large purchase. I dont have an iphone so I could not setup an appointment. Couldnt use online purchase due to payment methods. Waited in line outside store for an hour to be turned away since I didnt have an appointment. Tried every method possible to setup appointment but couldnt since I dont have an iphone. Called support on hold for an hour to be told to call store. Call store and get routed back to support for another hour to be told the same thing. Waited another hour at store a second time to setup an appointment. Finally asked what I wanted to buy and was told they were sold out even though the apple website showed available for immediate pickup. Dont waste yor time at this store. Went to best buy and picked up in 5 minutes with no issues they even honored the apple promo just had to drive another 45 minutes to get there.
I had to visit the store to get my iph battery replaced. It was a long wait due to lot of people coming in over the weekend. I had to wait for half an hour before the rep could attend me. After that, I had to wait for another 2.5-3 hours for the battery to be replaced. That makes me give it lo rating. Reps tried their best to make it fast and clear the queue. Nice store but long wait time.
I went to this apple location with every intention to pay a thousand dollars for the new iPhone. Being a longtime Samsung user this is a difficult decision, especially after my experience at this retail location. The manager of this location, Katie, treated me like a number and has diminished my confidence in Apple. The manager, failed to discuss alternatives to purchase the model I was looking for or even take the time to understand why I was in the market for a new phone.
They are awesome with the customers service. Only took a star off because it’s always so crowded in there. If you are trying to make a quick stop, don’t. It won’t be quick with how many customers they get.
It was as expected from apple - swift fast and reliable service.
Ali has the best customer service Pittsburgh has to offer. He greeted everyone who came to his table, also phenomenal with multi tasking. I have never had such amazing service and amazing attitude like this in this whole city. Thanks Ali Apple Employee
Very helpful. Employees know their stuff. Gave Gave a 4 because we had to wait 24 hr for a tech to call us
I hated the apples there they was so expensive
No waitingGreeted immediately by 2 associates. One of whom ascertained why we were there and helped to pick iPhone and case and then turned us over to another associate who assisted in setting up new phone. Very efficient and professional. Also, store laid out in a welcoming and efficient way for different items. Would highly recommend.
Most of the staff is great. We had one bad experience and he manager helped us after that and helped us feel that our concerned were addressed. The location is too small, but not much they can do about that. Overall it’s a good Apple store, and be been to quite a few. Is rate this one as an 8 out of 10.
Black white pink or purple the employee Dan doesn’t care what race you are he has astounding customer service this man went above and beyond to give me immaculate service and John helped by informing me of the wait time and making me feel welcomed. Thanks Dan wish more employees were like you. Amazing personality and very fast paced worker
Fast and friendly service by very knowledgeable and capable employees. Small store in a quaint boutique area....A+
The attitude and manners of the staff is next to perfect without a doubt, they are energetic and very kind. The issue is that they dont put half as much energy into actually fixing your issue. Went to repair my speakers and they replaced my battery without alerting me despite my MacBook being just 3 months old. It also came back faulty and almost twice as heavy. If youre an non-tech savvy individual who just cant figure out their camera or reintroducing a feature, they can help you out, otherwise, if you got a faulty device, just know your issue is not going to be resolved.
Me and my husband went there to buy me a birthday gift and return gift to my husband we purchased i phone 11 pro max . Spaces center friendly and helpful staff trustworthy trading.if we are talking about apple then its not the centre which matters but the staff n i found them super friendly and knowledgeable.
Shout out to the very affable and knowledgeable staff that helped me get my iPhone back up and running almost at their closing time, all with smiles on their faces! From contacting Apple support on the phone to speaking with the staff at Apple store in person, my experience was excellent- even though I was very stressed that my cell was temporarily disabled. Kudos to Apple for having such awesome representatives to help their customers and for creating such a secure cell.
I had 1 Star before but I recently got the same guy for 2 different visits almost a year apart, & he has been super nice and helpful both times! Also since my last visit everyone in this Apple Store has got the same amazing attitude as the Ross Park Apple Store. Im guessing they realized they needed to dismiss some of their careless employees. My visit yesterday was great tho everyone had a smile I their face, & actually showed that they liked their jobs!
Very knowledgable staff. Worth the wait to get phone fixed instead of buying new. Two attempts to repair, though. Ended up getting free replacement since phone has known defect. I love that you get a loaner while your phone is out for repair.
Beautiful shopping area. I walked in and was able to get the help I needed quickly. Zachary was friendly and helped me right away, which I appreciate since I was in a hurry! There is a parking garage close by (follow the signs) I think it was $2.50 for the first hour. I’m a huge Apple fan and was happy to have a good experience at this store.
Awesome customer service. A staff member named Lee helped me with an issue i was having with my phone. He was very informative, personable, and dedicated. My issue was solved within minutes!
