This place was so much fun for a date!! Took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday & to get creative together! Marissa was there to help us & she was just AMAZING!! She was beyond helpful & was always present to answer any questions we asked. Drink selection was amazing as well!!10/10 would highly recommend!! Prices were very reasonable!! :)
Athena and the DIY Bar came through 100% for my sister-in-laws bachelorette day of fun. We had such a great time. The drink selection was great and everything we had was yummy. The atmosphere was fun and we LOVED the way our crafts turned out. Athena took such good care of us. Well come back soon! Thanks DIY Bar.
We planned a work outing at DIY Bar and had an amazing time! So many options and such great support! Athena is fabulous! Cant wait to go back.
Athena made this a fantastic experience for our small group. We cant wait to go back again - really fun options for crafts and drinks, and a warm, attentive staff to guide you through the process. Highly, highly recommended!
Adam was so helpful; cant wait to come back and do another project!
So much fun! My gf and I did nail/string art boards and it was great. The staff is so helpful and we had a ball. Go check it out!
Fantastic little hobby-it-yourself bar. Come with a few friends, and in a few short hours youll have made something really cool for yourself. Really enjoyed it here!
So much Fun! We had a great time. What a great way to be creative and have the staff help you create a memorable experience.
Great place for a unique afternoon of fun or family celebration. I’ve been twice and would come back again to do more projects. The staff are super nice and helpful, the atmosphere is very welcoming, and the projects are tons of fun. Probably one of the most unique things to do in Portland!
Service was great, lots of helpful tips while we worked on our projects. We sat/worked outside, tables were spaced properly apart for COVID.
So much fun! Super-helpful staff, too.
Such a fun time! Athena gave my friend and I the absolute best experience. Highly recommend if you are in this area, it is really a one of a kind experience
This place was great! They had so many different crafts available. Everything my party picked had thorough directions, all tools we needed, and it was accessible to all. We enjoyed drinks as we worked our way through so many different crafts, including leather work, wood work, and cement. I highly recommend this place for anyone that wants a unique experience. Its a little pricey so it would be great for birthdays, anniversaries, and more.
This is the second time weve been here! The frist pre-COVID. We still enjoy it, had a fun time and made neat crafts!
We had a great time at DIY BAR. Crafts and brew, nothing better. Our host Athena was amazing! She helped us through everything and was so kind. We can’t wait to visit again.
Extremely good customerService. There staff goes the extra mile to make sure all there customers are completely happy. Would definitely recommend
Fun place to get together with friends or family and MAKE something! They provide all of the ingredients for a fabulous project. Lots of great projects to choose from. We didnt drink but they have lots of stuff on tap including kombucha. All the staff is really friendly and helpful. Well definitely come back! Great addition to the Portland creative scene!
One of the most unique(ly Portland) bar experiences in Portland! I brought my fiancee here for her birthday last year, as a part of a multi-layered surprise party (this gave the other partiers two hours to get things set up at the next location), and we were so engrossed in our craft projects that the time flew by in an instant!Workspaces can be a little tight, and the brews on tap, ranging from microbrews to ciders and even mead, are a fairly standard array of Portland offerings. People dont come here for the beer, they come for the hands-on experience; getting a little tipsy enhances this experience and creates a communal vibe with the neighbors with whom you will be regularly bumping elbows. My fiancee and I both selected the string art project, using the provided plastic stencils to create our birth states (WA and CA), which now adorn the walls of our home. We will be back, after our wedding, to work together to create a third, for the state that brought us together (OR). Looking forward to coming back!
This place was amazing!!! 6 of us went as part of a bachelorette weekend and had the best time! Scheduling online was super easy and I was contacted to confirm the appointment just beforehand, too, which was nice. Once we got there and chose our projects, the staff was great about any questions or help needed, as well as checking in regularly to see if we were doing well or needed anything. This is such a great place to go for anyone of any skill level wanting to do something fun, creative, and relaxing!
Stumbled upon this place walking down the street because I noticed the sign and wondered why it had a wine glass and a hammer. A staff member came out and explained what the place was all about. Its a bar when you can make stuff. All projects cost the same and range in difficulty. The group is not required to do the same project. Every person can choose whatever project they like. The staff was amazing. I definitely plan on coming back the next time Im in Portland!
Fantastic experience and such a fun option to have in town! We came for a bachelorette party and felt very well taken care of. The two owners (I didnt catch their names) were incredibly helpful and made sure everyone knew what they were doing. We loved that everyone could pick their own craft, and the drink options made it even better! We cant wait to come back!
We were having a girls night and this was such a fun and cool experience! The DIY Bar had so many options to choose from and the staff was very friendly! I highly recommend this place and also I loved the way my project came out!
I’ve been here three times now. Can’t wait to go again! This is definitely one of my favorite places to go in Portland. I’m not even crafty person but I like to try and they have yummy drinks and everyone is always so nice. First time was probably about three years ago with a friend. Second was about a year after that with a different friends and Just went yesterday for the third time with my husband (his first time) and since the Pandemic, things have changed but we were able to work outside and it was just subtle changes to keep everyone safe but still made it very fun and an enjoyable time! And I got free stickers this last time; I love stickers 😂 and i obviously love sharing this place/experience with other people so if you’re wondering if you should go— YOU SHOULD!
We had a great time! We went on a Saturday morning and the place was fully booked so make sure you make reservations. You get to pick what you want to make when you check in and they come with detailed instructions. They have a bunch of different things. The bottomless mimosas were fun also. The only bad thing I have to say is they fit quite a few people per table so you dont get a lot of space but there was enough to do the project. Definitely reccomend doing this.
My colleagues and I visited the DIY bar for our staff holiday party and we all had a really great time! This is my fourth time creating a project here and it never disappoints. The staff is super helpful and attentive and the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. A perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon with a group of friends, family or a date night. Highly recommend to everyone! :-)
Awesome experience! Many projects to choose from and in a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely coming back!
My daughter and I came here to make a birthday present for her mother! My daughter is 5 years old and the staff made sure she was welcomed had fun and we understood how to do the craft project. Outside of the amazing selection of adult beverages, they had kid juices there to tide her over.Everyone was so nice and helpful and I cant say enough nice things about this place.
Was a safe and super fun place to do some crafts! Everyone was spaced out and the owner is so friendly and helpful!!! Will totally be back again.
I did both of the macrame projects in our 3 hour time block and loved every minute. The staff was helpful and so nice and so much fun. I don’t live in Portland but if I did I would be there monthly at a minimum. Great group idea, date night, you name it. Highly recommend. My only one thought for improvement would be if DIYBar partnered with craft supplies to offers discount on supplies if, legs say, a night at their place sparks a deep love of macrame.
Went with a group from work and was great fun! Having some beers while actually crafting a leather wallet. Never thought I could finish it but easy step by step instructions and fun all the way. Thanks everyone at the DIY Bar will definitely recommend and love to return when back in Portland.
This place was amazing!! My sister and I went here as my last night visiting her. It was so much fun :)Honest opinion--much better then just a brush and board type of place...there is so much to create and you literally create everything yourself. I made a ceramic planting pot and coaster (had to mix and pour cement into the molds) My sister made a 6 pack bottle crate (had to sand, nail, paint and put together).Would highly recommend!!! And would absolutely go back :)
Super fun way to spend an afternoon! They have everything you need to complete the project or your choosing, and a nice assortment of drinks. The staff is all cheerful and helpful, especially Lara!
This is my first positive review ever, but these crafting kits really came in clutch for quarantine more than a few times for me. First up was a datenight. I thought ahead and ordered two string and nail art pieces for me and my girlfriend to work on while practicing quarantine safety measures. We needed something else to do besides settle for Netflix. I didnt think my girlfriend would have been that into it, but to this very day, she will tell you that was our best datenight of the year. Really engaging project and easy to follow instructions, and I looked felt like a hero. Then I ordered the Kokedama.. because, I mean, if you like plants at all, and you see that while browsing the crafts, how do you not add 3 to your virtual shopping cart? That project made me feel like I was a professional botanist. I have two kokedamas hanging in my shower and one sits on my windowsill next to other plant friends.I also ordered the hanging basket one, the name is escaping me, but I plan on ordering more of those and it will be THE only way plants are hung at my house.I love these crafts. They keep coming up with new ideas, these guys are.... CRAFTY. And I am not so crafty, but you couldnt tell with my end products!
I’ve been to DIY Bar about 5 times since they’ve opened and it’s always fun. Great place to take people from out of town and they switch up their project menu so it’s fun to see what new projects have been added. Staff is super helpful for those who are not craft savvy and their instructions and studio is very organized. Also great for team building events!
I really enjoyed coming here for part of my birthday celebration in the beginning of October. I made a reservation during happy hour (only 4$ drinks and cheaper projects!) I had 5 other friends with me. The beginning line was a little chaotic but it moved quickly and there was a table saved for my reservation. We all got to pick the project we wanted, the employees were very helpful and friendly and all the materials were in good shape. It was nice the employees kept checking back every so often to see if we needed any help, and the bartender let us taste things before we decided what we wanted to drink which was also nice. I think we all enjoyed ourselves and would return again for sure! Thanks for helping make my bday fun.
This was a fun afternoon. The people working there did t really interact us at all, They threw our supplies on the table and walked away. It was my first time there so a little bit of interaction from staff would have been really great.
This was a wonderful activity to have for my bachelorette party! Everyone had a great time and got the help they needed on their projects throughout our 3 hour block. I only wish we had the bigger, longer tables for my party as it was a tight squeeze for 12. Thank you for making it special either way!! I would highly recommend going here.
The experience was fun because I have crafted before but the people working seemed overwhelmed and I am not sure if they have completed the projects. We had to leave our IDs and credit cards with them which seems strange for them to need your ID and credit card. I guess just over all it is fun but you can watch a YouTube video and craft at home.
Such a unique concept. Very surprised this kind of bar hasnt become more popular everywhere. Drink, socialize, meet new peeps, and make something cool. What more can u want?
Sabrina and Natasha are EXCELLENT and wonderfully helpful staff! 5++ stars. We loved our crafts. They helped immensely but still gave us the freedom to make our own crafts. Will be back. Thank you for a fun birthday.
DIY bar was awesome. This was our first time visiting this bar. We had a really good time. The staff members were super helpful and knowledgeable.
Super fun place. You go in, you pay $40, and you can choose any craft you like. The price includes everything youll need for your craft project, experts that walk around and give you tips and help as needed, and you can use the supplies to make a huge mess that you will not have to clean up after the fact. They also have beverages for sale there. Some unique beer, cider, etc. It took us about 3 hours to make our craft, so make sure you eat if youre hungry because theres no food there
We had a blast! Our crafts didn’t turn out the greatest but we loved doing it. It was super fun and we will do it again when we visit Portland. The directions were easy to follow and the mead we had was fantastic!
Fun and unique experience! The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful and they really promote a nice and relaxed environment. Very reasonably priced drinks and the craft prices seem expensive but you get a lot for what you are paying for. Also love that there are multiple projects to choose from so its not just all stuff to hang on your wall like the wine and canvas classes. Will definitely be returning!
Such a fun time. Was nice to have an evening of drinking and activities. Very casual and cool. Highly recommend !
This place is amazing!! They have a great selection of crafts to choose from. I went with a group of friends and we for the most part did different projects. We all cannot wait to go back for our next craft. Also their Mimosas are AMAZING!! I dont know what kind of orange juice they had but man, reminded me of Florida!
We recently did a business/networking event here and it was FANTASTIC! DIY Bar is a great space that allows for easy conversation and provides a great ice breaker when meeting new people. Adam from DIY Bar was so great to work with and their staff is very helpful. Absolutely recommend for an event, or even just a fun activity in your free time.
My honey and I decided to try a date night here and absolutely loved it! Such a fun experience!
My wife and I had a great time! The project instructions were very clear and easy to use and the layout of the work spaces and craft supply areas were comfortable. The staff was super helpful and nice as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
A whole lot of fun, and BEER! When we went, it was pretty crowded, but you cant blame them for being busy. Staff was nice, projects fun and diverse, and a really neat idea for a bar.
My boyfriend and I went on a date here and it was awesome! I thought I would just be painting a pot for my succulent but I made it myself. Would reccommend
What a fun experience! There are a bunch of different craft projects to choose. Nail & string art seems to be the most popular which is what I chose. The instructions are easy to follow but the craft tenders are friendly and more than eager to help if youre having trouble. They have a small but nice selection of wine, cider, beer, & kombucha (not included in the cost of the craft) . I would definitely go back to try more of their projects.
Its a fun experience, but I would never pay full price, way overpriced
Such a fun place and something different than just sitting at a bar. You can choose from a variety of products (ranging in price and difficulty make) and throughout the time you’re there someone is on hand to help you. There’s a great selection of drinks too that are reasonably priced.Couldn’t recommend this enough; friendly staff, fun experience, decent price and a something different!
Good, clean fun! It was a great night, drinking beer and makiing a leather koozie. The hosts where helpful when I had questions, they maintained a nicely organized area of parts & supplies, and the tools were sharp! The whole idea here is a good one, and its well done. I know my friend would have appreciated harder refreshment (they just have beer and wine) but he had a good time too.
My wife and I love this place. Im sure we have done almost every craft they have to do here. Really fun and engaging.
My sister and I spent an afternoon here recently to escape the Portland summer heat. We had a fabulous time- a very unique experience! Good choice of drinks, pleasant staff, lots of crafts to choose from and great background music. I wish I had a DIY Bar in my own city!
So. Much. Fun!! Just go there! Fun projects, supplies and directions provided. Help available for those that are less than crafty or those who dont bother to read instructions.
I have had several great experiences here. Recently, I have done two workshops with Alyssarhaye (arm knitting and macramé) and have LOVED it! She is a fantastic teacher and artist, extremely patient and overall fun to be around. I would (and have) highly recommend taking a workshop with her, and look forward to taking more in the future!
I had a blast! Im super NOT handy, but Adam and Amy were always around to help me (and clean up after me)!The selection of adult beverages was way better than I expected! Though I felt like the glass of wine was a little light for $7, my cider was filled to the top!I was a little startled that I had to leave my ID and credit card as soon as I signed in. Adam explained that the ID was for checking out the tools (like pool balls?) and the card was for when I ordered my drinks, so I went with it.The ladies room was neat and clean, and the soap smells like cookies #winning. I loved the music selection!
This was so much fun. My husband and I did a project together. The instructions were easy to follow and we were happy with our results.
I came in and did the nail string art with a few friends. Had a great time, it was a nice DIY without being too hands on, they just give you all the supplies you need and let you go at it. Really friendly staff. They also have coupons on Chinook and Groupon
Wow! #1 - make a reservation & arrive early. This place is amazing! A great selection of projects and structure matched with free form - awesome way to enjoy time with friends and have a concrete result of an awesome project!
I was pretty good. I wouldve had more fun if you could have but whatever you wanted, but other wise good store.
So much fun! A great way to spend a few hours in the afternoon. Perfect date night activity.
Pretty fun but a little bit overpriced. Go with a friend and work on one project together :)
This place has excellent customer service, helpful fun attitude, very accommodating and fun. My only complaint is lack of a beer selection. After two great IPAs I really just wanted a domestic beer so I could finish my project without getting too toasty! Overall experience was pretty pricy, but worth it.
I had a lot fun here for my Bachelorette party! It was nice that we got to do our crafts at our own pace and the instructions were thorough and had pictures to help you.
I had a great time. Friendly, informative staff, and plenty of options to choose from for projects.
Very fun! Friendly and helpful staff. It seemed overpriced at first, but the projects took a lot longer than expected. If you factor in the amount of time and supplies, I think it’s worth it.
Great place to take a group for a night out. Lots of fun. Lots folks of great crafting options to choose from.
In short, its a mixture of Pinterest projects and Paint Nite. Such an awesome and fun concept! My husband and I did the leather mason jar mug. The instructions were easy to follow and the owners were very helpful in answering questions we had. This place is great for dates, big groups, crafty individuals and not so crafty folks. Cant wait to come back to try another project!
Super fun! Maybe next time, show us where all the rest of the materials such as gloves and aprons are.
We went as a team from work. It was a lot of fun. I plan to bring back my friends for a girls day.
Fantastic place to bring family and friends and make beautiful art and crafts.... And you dont have to do the clean up after you just bring your new creation home.
So much fun. Everyone there was so nice and helpful.
Ive been here twice and love it! It was so fun and really easy.
What a great time! Fun crafting time with the bestie with very friendly and helpful people. Highly recommended if your really crafty or just wanted to try something newl looking for a good time.
REALLY awesome. Very fun. Great staff. Fair prices.
Super fun and unique concept. Kinda overpriced but if you look past that its an awesome place to go to. Once.
Great afternoon fun with the hubby. Good selection of crafts and friendly, helpful staff.
