I went here in 2013 at another location and again recently, both experiences similar. The highlight of this store is that they have their own label and you can easily pick up their exclusively curated audio oddities easily here, like the recently reissued Dune soundtrack. Other than that I personally have found the selection a little unremarkable for how big the space is. If you dont frequent record stores and want a 30 minute browse to pick up some staples this is a good fit.
I would not suggest selling records here. They will briefly look at what you have and make a blind guess as to the value with 0 research.I understand they will quote a lower amount than the actual value because they too have to make money, but to offer to pay about 15% is borderline robbery.I would go to a shop with a little more integrity and knowledge.
Great store. Easy to spend $$$ but definitely worth it!
One of the finest record shops Ive ever had the opportunity to purchase from.
I bought a Tool record for a great price and Im impressed with the choice I made... Its now my favorite album!!
Located in a fantastic shopping district and has so much history. A great selection and atmosphere.
A gem of a record shop. Not as large as some of the other well known establishments around Portland, but sometimes less is more. From the collector seeking hated to find vintage recordings, to the casual listener, I believe you will leave with at least one item you are looking for. Clean and well organized as well.
Not my first choice, but decent enough selection. Staff are helpful but some arent all that friendly about it — not rude/mean but appeared bothered that I needed help. Bought a record, found it had a pretty significant scratch and returned it for store credit. Next time I went to spend it, saw the same record back out on the floor.
Decent record store with a small collection. Worth a peek if youre out on Hawthorne doing some shopping.
Girl behind the counter was helpful and patient. I try to spend my money there.
Love this store ! Prices are reasonable. Staff was friendly . My daughter even got a free sticker ⭐
Great local music store. Great selection and service!
Great service and the sound quality of their custom limited edition pressings is perfect! Their shipping is fast and well packaged. I’ve purchased several LPs and am very happy!!
Great selection of genres
Although I got one record Ive been looking for, I beleive their used records are too pricey.
Was on vacation in Portland and popped into this little record shop looking for a specific, but obscure and unusual artists music. While they didnt have it in store, the staff was immediately looking to see if they could possible get ahold of it, and were even willing to ship it to Kansas City. They were really friendly and helpful. The music they did have in stock was very diverse and full of great selections of any genre, from mainstream to the more obscure.
Excellent staff and selection
When I called before store hours the phone was promptly answered by the stores owner. He was courteous and helpful and gave me just exactly the information that I needed. I will be pre ordering the item that I had been looking for and I will continue to use the store in the future as long as I get the same good service that I have so far.
Jackpot re presses are always a great way to find a new pressing of my favorites. Staff always ALWAYS helpful and kind. Thanks jackpot
Ive been going here for years, really well curated selection of music that are reasonably priced. This store is very well organized and the people there are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. One of my faves and go-to record store, Ive always found what I was looking for along with some interesting surprises!
Went there for specific record, I was so surprised We found it right away! Selection was great! And everything was well organized...The guy at the counter wasn’t very welcoming but it was an hour before closing so he let us know...we spent almost 400$ in records and we were happy with what we found! It had a good vibe to the store but friendly service is not what we experienced, that’s ok we was there for vinyl!
Great place, found most of what I was looking for. Love the atmosphere and decoration. Loved it!
This place is really great. Not only do they have a great selection and really decent prices, but their listening station is a huge plus. I was able to pop a Detroit Emeralds 45 onto their turntable, and found out I loved it before I bought it. Incredibly useful. They didnt mind that I let my 7 year old use the listening station to listen to We Are the Champions. Super friendly people working there too. Came on a recommendation from a friend, and will definitely be coming back. A little hard to find parking, but that is not their fault. A+
Great taste in music and wonderful employees
Jackpot is a great record shop. Sometimes you get lucky and find something rare. Friendly staff. Not the cheapest place in town but they have a wide variety of music.
Really neat store in a really cool area!
Impressive collection, I found stuff in their world music collection that was very reasonably priced. Might be better to shop here than antique stores.
Good selection of current & old, used & new. Fair prices.
Nice record store
I come here as often as my wallet will allow. Great selection of new and used records. Helpful, knowledgeable, friendly staff. Best record store in PDX
Good selection, but not the best customer service. Made for a weird environment
For a small store front, they have a great variety of records. Little bit of everything and at a great price. They also have a selection of record players. I was looking for my husbands birthday present (his first record player). I was a little bewildered by the posibilities because i am clueless about them. The people working the store were super helpful, even when i had issues getting things set up and came backwith questions, they gladly answered. The store also has wrapped grab bags, a random 10 albums for $5. They are really fun, and pretty good selection and variety. Definitely will be visiting over and over again.
Right here on Hawthorne, used ones in the back
Good record shop. A good selection, fun to browse.
Great place for records alot of rock not much for new age music tho
One of the most friendly record stores in town. Great records at fair prices too.Lots of recent used arrivals lately with tons of classics and new releases on vinyl. They have extra copies of things behind the counter so you can get untouched copies a lot of the time.
Short and sweet.... Best vinyl shop in Portland. If I could visit every day, I would.
Very nice people there, i went in there looking for a certain record. i got it. selection is good
Cool little spot with a great selection of music. Complete with a listening station and helpful, friendly service.
Great selection, and the only place I could find the new full album!
Very cool spot for vinyl. Limited categories of genres, but you catch on!
Intimate and eclectic record store on Hawthorne. Good indie and rarities selection.
Very great atmosphere, has a distinct collection of rock, soul, blues, etc. They also have a large variety of cocktail comedy, soundtracks, and ambient sounds on records. They have some cassettes and CDs where they have listening booths for all three formats. They sell highly collectible LPs and some turntables
Ive been to a lot of record stores. Its a common occurrence to be met with snobbery and cooler than thou attitudes. Not the case here. These folks clearly have a passion for the music and its refreshing to share that with somebody when I go in there. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. There are bigger stores in PDX, but if at all possible I want to spend my money here.
Ive given this place so many chances, and I wont go in here anymore. Theyre way too mainstream. I came in for an album today which should have been on the shelf on release day. An LP that had major anticipation and press the weeks leading up to it. This happens frequently. Ive recently had to return something recently because of a damage as well. The damage isnt their fault, but it doesnt feel like they realize that youre making a special trip there to get a no every time. Maybe its bad timing, but its too consistent for me to keep getting absolutely frustrated by it. Go up the street to Exiled, or over to Music Millennium on Burnside.
Glad to see record stores still around. They also have CD, and tapes! Free in store performance brought me in.
Favorite place to get vinyl. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The guys that work here are super cool, they helped me pick out a new record player last month, and asked me how I liked it the next time I came in. Well organized shop with a good selection.
Ive had a great experience with Jackpot. They were very accommodating and helpful to me as an out of town customer.
Great selection. Great spot. Love this place. This is also a SubPop hub, so if you order from the SubPop MegaMart you can get it shipped here for pickup, free of charge using the SubPop Local shipping option. Also love checking out the new arrivals and sale sections. Prices are great and the vinyl grading system is top notch.
Great record store with a decent collection. Most definitely a place to check out regularly.
The staff at Jackpot are friendly and have always helped me find what I was looking for. Theyve even special ordered a few things for me that were harder to find. One of my favorite local record stores!
I experienced rude customer service. Selection in records seemed good. But the service is horrible.
Not bad. A lot more new that used but still cool.
Great Record Store! Came in looking for their reissue of Mustafa Ozkents Genclick Ile Elele but ended up with some great used finds as well. Everyone was super helpful and even gave me a free King Gizzard poster. This place rules!
Not welcome to out of towners. Crossroads was a better experience
Theres always a $1 bin for digging and the listening station alone is a good reason to shop here.
DO NOT GO TO THIS RECORD STORE!!!! Without a doubt, this store has the worst customer service ever! Barbie was rude, unprofessional and should NEVER work in customer service! If you are looking for records, go to either Exiled Records or Music Mellennium.
Every one here is nice and helpful.
Its a good record store. Good selection of new, used, and weird.
Did you know that there are record stores where the dollar bins are super worth digging through? Now ya do!
Great record selection, fair prices.
Really cool selection of rare vinyl
Great record store if youre looking for new releases and classic vinyl staples.
I had the opportunity to visit this Portland local shop yesterday for the first time since I live in Canada and dont have the opportunity to go to Portland all the time. I found the selection very solid, with half decent pricing, plus I like how they will allow you to listen to the album to make sure you like it. However, upon listening to the album Valleyheart by She Wants Revenge, the employee still wanted to hear it... they, then informed me that they had another sealed copy and put that in the bag instead. To my own stupidity I did NOT check the quality of the vinyls cover. Thus, to my surprise, when I pulled it out of the bag when I arrived home, the covers corners are smashed in, its damaged all over the place and I am thoroughly NOT impressed whatsoever. That employee should have told me it was nowhere near the mint condition shape, the other was in. Now if I want a copy I need to drive 6 hrs to get it replaced which I dont have the time for. So unless they decide after reading this review to ship me the other copy free of charge, I wont be shopping there anytime I return. It will be 2nd Avenue records all the way. (I can provide photos to prove it... and if you say that its the way I handled it or it could have been damaged throughout the drive back home, then why was the other 12 records I purchased, when I handpicked all of them in mint condition?!) So very, very disappointed!
Great place, good selection, good vibes
Nice small shop with a great selection of records, new and used.
Pretty decent selection, and reasonable prices.
Great record store!
Great selection, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Good policy on defective albums.
Trendy little shop for hipsters and burnouts.
They have a top of the line selection of vinyl.
It was a have to stop place!! The guys picked out and left with their vinyl, some old some new!!
Great $1 selection for vinyl
Cool place in a cool neighborhood
Selection ok. Customer service nil, and I only had one very specific “do you have this artist?” question.
Fun record store
Jackpot had a few albums I am dying to get my hands on...just not a prices I want to spend for albums that are 40 years old. If you dont care about your money, this place gets 4 stars. If you do...keep digging.
Helpful staff
Real deal
Pretentious.
Love this place
Excellent selection
