Learning about how supposedly Steelcase products arent serviced by Steelcase themselves, but rather their authorized dealers, I thought Id inquire about trying one.____________________________________________________It turns out their little showroom is by appointment only, I havent tried to bend the rule and given my experience about 15 minutes ago I dont care to. I thought Id dip a toe and play their game a little, call and schedule an appointment.____________________________________________________The receptionist, who did not volunteer her name, heard my inquiry about arranging for an appointment and promptly redirected my call straight to a voicemail with instructions to leave a name and phone number, suggesting I should receive a call back shortly from a sales specialist.____________________________________________________Now, Im no expert with sales, nor do I need to be to find their mishandling of my call bloody arrogant and disgusting. I understand you may well sell these chairs in bulk to businesses on a regular basis. The only business Im in is for myself, I am an individual, and a consumer.____________________________________________________But most certainly not of this authorized Steelcase dealer, and by extension I may reconsider the entire Steelcase brand as a whole seeing as theyre the only dealer in my area which can supposedly service a chair that Ive purchased in the event things go awry.____________________________________________________If you want to be treated like a person (and probably spend a fraction of the money for that matter), Id suggest taking any personal or business interest elsewhere.
