The ladies sent to do my packing were the most professional group of people that I have ever worked with. They were courteous, helpful and very timely. They arrived on time, went straight to work and were most helpful. I will definitely use them again.

We are an army family and have moved A LOT and have experienced many packers. Hilldrup was the fastest and most detail oriented packers we have experienced. Our entire house was packed in 6 hours total over the span of 2 days. Miss Dominique was lovely and both her and the crew were hard workers. This type of service is not common in the military world - thank you!

The whole movie experience from Grand Haven Michigan to Richmond Virginia went flawless. The people that pack the house in Grand Haven and loaded the truck were great and the guys who delivered my furniture and Richmond were just as good. First off it was an all women group that showed up on time and all masked ready to go! I was super impressed with everyone’s professionalism and attention to detail. Along the way it was very organized and everyone played their part in the process in their own way without getting in others way which was awesome to watch! I had a toddler here the whole time and no one flinched or treated him any kind of way even though he was all over the place lol. It was definitely a great need in a stressful move so this made my entire move so much easier and I really appreciate the energy spent along the way to make it go smooth from all hands involved. My family is very grateful. Dominique and I forgot the other crew leaders name were awesome and treated me like family! I lost important papers along the way and even though I said I’d get it she still found it for me within minutes I was impressed!

We discussed full pack and when it was time for the packers to pack they wasn’t prepared for a full pack. DriverMr. Joe exact words “I’m a Christian” but we seen another side of Mr.Joe and it was very unprofessional.They listed on the inventory sheet my furniture was heavily damaged and worn, torn which is not the case what so ever my furniture is in great condition. Jason K from Hilldrup/United Van Lines delivered an exceptionally exceptional service right from the get go. He arrived with his crew on-time on the day/time he promised to pick up my load. Neatly packed all the items that I did not box and loaded them into his trailer. He gave me a date range by when he would deliver, matching up with my schedule/availability (of my home) where I was moving into. He called a day in advance, checked on the accessability of his tractor-trailer, did his homework researching via google maps. On the day of this delivery, he came before the scheduled time, planned for this delivery and wow-ed me with the whole experience. He went above and beyond when he moved some part of my load to a storage facility nearby that I had rented. Frankly, I was very petrified with the movers (heard some horrendous stories through my friends and online reviews) and the move, but Jason did an awesome job ensuring that my expectations were exceeded with the whole process. I appreciate the transparency and customer focus of both Hilldrup and United Van Lines through the move process. Id definitely recommend their services to my friends and family. Hilldrup Moving handled our move from Montpelier, VA on 9/26/17 and stored our furnishings until needed to move into our new home in Ashland, VA on 1/11/18. Both experiences were amazing. From the timely estimate from their sales team to working with Sara to get that we packed ourselves and scheduling to the moving crew that performed the move. Our crew was Normans crew. We had them for both the initial move to the move into our new house and they were so Amazing. Normans crew was personable, respectful of our furnishing and worked great together as a team. We only had two items that were broken in the move. A lamp and a martini glass and that was due to the fact that we packed those boxes ourselves. If I were to do anything different, it would be to let them handle the packing as well. I highly recommend Hilldrup for your next move!!!

It was a pleasure to work with Hilldrup. An overseas partner did the packing and Hilldrup did the storage and delivery in the USA. The coordinator was super easy to work with and their unloading crew was fast, efficient, careful and very friendly. They had to unload on a rainy day and they did a great job of taking care with our stuff. Hilldrup didnt end up moving us, but they were fantastic as we attempted to pick a company for our local move. Maureen came out to give us an estimate and was professional and thorough. They didnt pester us with constant follow-up calls (Im lookin at you, All My Sons) and every interaction with them was pleasant. Professional organization!

View attached pictures if you want to know what Hilldrup calls professional. They put my unwrapped figurines in box with one of their blankets on top, I could not believe how my items were treated. The mount to the television in my room was broken while it was still attached, they claim my crystal figurines were already broke, one of the mirrors on my curio is missing hard to find parts I bought it in Germany, some items were listed on the inventory and some were not. I wont comment on the pregnant female. With the entire nightmare I have to mention Angela the horrible so called professional, customer service training needed immediately, when customers call you should return their calls, you called to tell me you would check on the movers once they arrive at my apartment, once again you did not nor did you return my call. I gave a star because I have to I wish I could give you what you deserve which is a negative (-). If I had an enemy I would not recommend this company to them.

Contracted with Hilldrup to move my belongings from a home to a climate controlled storage unit. Purchased full coverage insurance prior to the move. After looking over the inventory, I noticed that the description of the conditions of the furniture and other items were not accurate at all. Adjectives such as badly worn, faded, chipped, damaged was assigned to EVERY item not in a box. By the time I saw it, everything was loaded and I had no recourse but the deception left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not use these movers again, nor can I recommend them.

In my initial contact with United, I expressed a little dismay that Id have to wait 3 or 4 days to have someone come and do an inventory. I was immediately offered the option to do the inventory by video instead and on the same day. Since I was fairly well packed, I took the offer. I was done in 15 minutes with the video! Couldnt believe how quick and easy it was. That was an impressive beginning working with United Van Lines and the local carrier, Hilldrup. The video could not have been easier (as long as you are comfortable with loading their app and using your phone for videos). After getting an estimate very soon thereafter, the only concern was that the day of delivery was indefinite. I had not realized that might be a possibility. Once the day for the move arrived, I was contacted by Hilldrup with the drivers name, and time of arrival between 8-10. Sam was there with 2 helpers at 8:45. Every box and item was inventoried and bar coded. They were exceptionally careful to wrap virtually everything before loading on the truck, either with layers of paper or cardboard and straps to hold the protection on or wrapped in shrink wrap. They were done by about 1:30 (I was downsizing to an apt from a house). The driver was able to confirm before leaving that the delivery would be made 2 business days later and his arrival would be about 8:30. They were there by 8:40 as promised and done by 12:30. They even took away any boxes I was able to empty before they departed. No significant damage to anything. Also I was contacted by Hiildrup by phone multiple times to check on the movers and to confirm times on both he move and delivery. I could not have been more pleased with the results. No charges occurred until the house was emptied.

Absolutely despicable. My family and I were moved up here for work and had no choice in who was hired to move us. Our delicate and expensive things were tossed in boxes haphazardly and with zero care or consideration. Several irreplaceable and sentimental items were broken or damaged, with multiple other fragile items broken, damaged, or mishandled. Actual items that needed to be packed with care were just tossed in boxes, while they carefully wrapped and packed items like stuffed dog toys, soy sauce packets, and actual trash. Would never recommend to anyone.

UPDATED: Hilldrup agreed to make a “customer service gesture” (euphemism for refund) by providing me an amount relative to the non-performance and non-delivery of promised services (such as a move coordinator) as well as the amount of time that I had to spend dealing with several third party subcontractors that they did not even know or have established business practices with. Then, they sent me a document with LEGAL language requiring my non-disclosure in all aspects and as settlement. I have requested them to issue my check as their demands are unethical business practices. I will update my review once they provide ethical resolution. My apartments building management were very reasonable in handling Hilldrup’s damages to the hallways and neighbors door, but I am also still awaiting reimbursement for the wall damages they made inside my apartment.*********I hired United/Hildrup to handle my move. I thought the hefty cost (2-3x others)would mean better customer service... United had handled two corporate moves for me in the past, and I expected the same level of service for my personal move. They have hands down been the worst company to deal with. My moving coordinator was forgetful, irresponsible, and dropped the ball. Pretty much everything has been outsourced and NO ONE seems to be accountable. I keep getting emails and calls from a million different people in handling the damages to my property and to my new building.Exception: The three guys who packed up my stuff in DC were excellent! They should work for themselves or for a better company.They outsourced Planes to do my end location move, and they were over an hour late and took more than 4 hours because they only had two men. One of the movers (driver) KICKED my bicycle tire into the frame because he didn’t have tools to reattach it! The driver was probably trying to rush through and he threw some of my stuff in a box and wheeled it up. He basically hit my stuff and scuffed up the walls in the hallway and then my doorway. He also bent a leg on my armoire by dragging it on the carpet instead of the two men lifting it...OUTRAGEOUS.I STILL am dealing with my claims because no one can seem to figure out who’s doing what and they have all subcontracted the inspections for my personal property claims and the building damage claims!!! Thank goodness for Carmen, who is trying to assist in the process...

We recently made a big interstate household move-- from Richmond to Pennsylvania, and were dreading the work; anxiety and countless tasks involved in major relocation. Hildrup, a Virginia affiliate of United Van Lines, was one of three movers from which we solicited bids. Hildrup had already come highly recommend by close friends who had used their services in the recent past. By far, Hildrup made the best first impression, and was key in our ultimate decision to go with them. Maureen, their executive relocation manager, met with us at our home, and she wowed us with her clear, honest, detailed, professional presentation. After reviewing and comparing the three estimates, we chose Hildrup. Now, comfortably moved and installed in our new home, we couldnt be more pleased and satisfied with our choice.Hildrup is VERY customer-service oriented, and had every detail covered, from start to finish. Maureen.... and Sharon, her move coordinator,...were regularly in touch with us; made sure we got the move- out and move-in dates we needed; and took a fastidious inventory of all to be moved. They are a full-service, totally insured, bonded and licensed moving company, with decades of experience, and an excellent reputation. They offer a range of services, including all of the following: professional, full or partial packing; loading; moving; unloading; furniture placement; and unpacking and more. They are also reasonable and competitive on pricing. We thought we got a very fair deal.We ultimately chose to do our own packing and unpacking,...but they did everything else.Our movers were Ricky and Tyrell, two veteran professional movers, who have been movers for a while, and with Hildrup for several years. These two guys are really pleasant, savvy pros, who were with us throughout the move: they wrapped and padded our furniture; loaded the van on day-one; drove the van from VA to PA; unloaded the van and moved everthing in; placed all of the items; and hauled off empty cartons and packing materials. They were superb! Careful and thoughtful; gentle with breakables and freshly-painted spaces; thorough; etc. We cant find enough superlatives to heap on these guys. And now with everything open and unpacked...not ONE break or scratch!We VERY STRONGLY and HIGHLY RECOMMEND Hildrup/United. Maureen, Sharon, Ricky, Tyrell, and the entire team are so impressive! By all means, do your shopping and price comparisons. But we have moved SEVERAL times over the course of our lives. This was the best and easiest EVER! Bravo and thanks again, to Maureen and the Hildrup team!
