Ive been going to Browncroft for a couple of years now and have always found the employees to be honest and professional. They have been very transparent about what is and is not needed at the time, and I appreciate that they call ahead if they discover additional needed repairs. I NEVER leave reviews but I have been taking my car to the guys at Browncroft for 5 years now and theyre just too helpful to not leave a good review. Theyve always been honest, fast, and thorough, and give you heads up on things to pay attention to down the line. They talk you through the issues and explain things so well that a person like me who doesnt know much about cars can fully understand the problems. I would never take my care elsewhere at this point

They take the time to properly diagnose the issue and repair what’s needed; they don’t just swap parts like other shops and hope it corrects the problem. They’ve serviced several of my vehicles and I always leave knowing that I’m driving a safe and reliable vehicle. These guys are true craftsmen in a difficult field of work!

I originally had my cars power steering leak inspected at another shop in Rochester. That shop quoted me over $700 for parts and labor to replace the pump and repair the leak. My car is rather old and I did not want to pay that much money for my car to get repaired, so I bought the power steering pump myself, replaced two hoses, and installed the pump with a friend. Unfortunately, the leak remained. It left me no choice but to get the leak fixed at a shop. I looked up Browncroft Garage and saw it was AAA certified, and they specialized in my cars brand. I had my car towed in the morning and they called me in the afternoon on the same day and explained what was going on with my car. I appreciated the amount of detail they told me over the phone on what needs to be replaced and why, as opposed to other shops that just tell you what needs to be done and how much it will cost. The mechanic even used one of the hoses that I did not get to install, and only ordered the parts that were needed. I had to wait a day until the ordered parts came in, but the repair was done in a timely fashion and I was quoted less than half of what the original shop quoted me. I definitely recommend this place for all of your repair needs.

Always good service

I brought my Jeep here because I had a coolant leak and had read online a lot of positive things. Theyre cheap, they fix it fast, and they do it correctly....They had initially told me it was the thermostat and that is where the leak was coming from. I pay 350 bucks (very expensive seeing as how the thermostat is right on top and incredibly easy to get to, and the majority of it was labor) and they said it was all better. I get out of work the next day, and the same pool of coolant was on the ground. I verbally described to my friend who used to be a mechanic and he said it sounds like your water pump is bad. The puddle underneath your car is an intentional tell to let you know it needs to be replaced before it fails. He looked at it, crawled underneath and confirmed what he had said. It was leaking out of the pinhole in the water pump.I call the shop back and they wanted another 3-400 bucks to fix it. Wouldnt work on the price even though there was a misdiagnosis. I ended up fixing it myself because the coolant leak caused me to delay my trip and I had a sunny day. cost me about 120 bucks in parts, (changed the fan clutch since I had to pull the fan, and the belt), cost me a few hours out of my day.I wont be going back. I was really hoping to find a decent shop, I guess I was overly optimistic after reading the reviews.

My daughter goes to school in Rochester and its 6 hours away from home. She had a few car problems and Dan and staff at Browncroft garage took care of them. They were honest and trustworthy and very good at what they do! Its very comforting knowing that we have someone to help our daughter with her car when shes so far away from home.

They got my vehicle back on the road 3 days before Xmas. I had to have it towed there, as it was the closest, (and also recommended by AAA).When I called in the AM to tell them why the vehicle was sitting in their lot, I was told they were really busy, but they would try to take a look at it. If not, they would be closed until the 30th. A full week without a vehicle, at XMAS!!!!Decent price, super customer service, and if I didnt live in Chili, they would be my go to garage in the future.Thanks folks!

After 10 years in Rochester, I think Ive finally found an honest, reputable mechanic for which I can rely on for years to come. My Mustangs differential blew and the team at Browncroft (Scott and Dan) did a great job with the repair! They researched many options - from rebuilding the differential, to replacing the axle with certified Ford parts, to finding a used replacement from a similar vehicle. I ultimately settled on the used replacement and it works like brand new! The repair was reasonably priced and I will certainly be returning here for all my repair needs in the future, as well as recommending Browncroft Garage to all my friends and colleagues. Browncroft Garage has always come through for me and my cars over the years. I have been going there for about 25 years. Back when Eric owned it, it was a little grubby but he was always fair and reliable. When Scott bought it from Eric a couple years ago I was a little nervous it wouldnt be the same. Well, I was right, but in the opposite way I was thinking. Scott has made it even better. Not only is he still reasonable and reliable but he has cleaned up the shop and made much needed improvements. I dont live near the garage anymore but I will NEVER go anywhere else. They are hands down, the best in town. Thank you Scott for coming through for my son so he could get back to Buffalo for class. He made it on time!!

The previous owner was great, I recommended this place to countless people for years. They were very straightforward and honest and did great work.Since they changed ownership though it seems every visit has been worse than the last. They dont stand behind their work the way they used to and I wont be coming back.

Scott and his crew are truly the most professional and caring group I have encountered in my 50 years of owning cars. This is truly an honest and extremely capable service garage. My car in our 2nd car and is several years old, but they treat it beautifully and make sure everything is in perfect running order. This last visit even came in under budget! We will not be going anywhere else for our vehicle service.

After having some bad experiences over the years with other, dubious, local garages- it was a real pleasure discovering this one. The owner of Hooper Tires suggested I go here to get my inspection and work done. I went there for an inspection. The staff is super nice and efficient. I was in and out! I really like that I can set up an online account with them to see all the work that they did to my car, too.

Scott and Ed have faithfully carried on the honest tradition started by Eric over 30 years ago. I know that whenever I take a car in for service I will not be sold unnecessary parts and services. Scott explained to me exactly what had to be done and why, and the approximate cost. The waiting area has been painted and refreshed and is now very bright and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend Browncroft Garage!

After the new owner was recommended to me, I took my truck in to have a broken brake line replaced. All was well and priced fairly. 11 months later, the very brake line they replaced blew out, this is a steel tube, the end of the tube came out of the fitting. If this procedure is done correctly, the end of the tube is placed through the fitting then the tube is flared which creates the seal and provides a surface for the nut to tighten against. Since the tube pulled free from fitting, it could not have been properly installed. There was no break in the tube, it just pulled free. I was told it came free because the hose above it was flexing and secured with a plastic wire tie. I reminded them that they did the work so they put the wire tie on and, did not properly instal the steel tube. I was charged $98.00 for them to fix their mistake.Had they admitted the error, I would continue to do business with them. I will repair my own truck again, like Ive always done.I do not recommend this garage.

If you want no nonsense service at a reasonable price from mechanics you can trust, this is the place.We appreciate having an alternative to the dealerships. I have taken my car to browncroft a few times. I think their prices are a little on the higher end but certainly cheaper than a dealership. They always complete the work same day and I have no complaints about the quality. By far the fastest turn around time for the price.

Each time I had service here, I have been nothing but satisfied. It feels good to have mechanics that I can actually trust with my car. The Rochester area as we all know have alot mechanics that put half effort into repairs and we end up paying alot more than we were meant to. This crew is very helpful and laid back. Based on previous reviews, I took a chance and brought my car to Browncroft Garage for a NYS State Inspection on my vehicle, knowing that the car needed breaks and likely needed other work as well. The guys at Browncroft were friendly, upfront, honest, fair and quick. I had my car back within a day with a new set of breaks, some other minor required work, along with my NYS inspection. I would recommend this service station to anyone!

I dropped my car off for NYS inspection, tire rotation, and airbag diagnostics. They called me within an hour telling me my car was done and the results and options regarding the diagnostic test. Great, affordable, knowledgeable customer service.

At 67 years old, I have finally found a garage that is trustworthy and didnt take advantage of me. I called the dealer and another mechanic I had utilized in the past about a problem I was having with my power steering locking up and the both said I could continue to drive the vehicle until I could get in to see them two days later. I need my vehicle so that was not an option. I called Browncroft and they advised me not to drive the car any distance or expressway as this could be a serious problem. They made an appt. for the following day, fixed the problem, explained everything and charged a reasonable rate. I cant thank Scott and Dan enough. I didnt think I would ever find a mechanic who was as honest, kind, and trustworthy as Scott and Dan

Eric seems like a truly honest guy and the rates they charge are very reasonable. I can easily say that this is probably one of the few honest shops in Rochester.I was never pressured in any way and in fact I was discouraged from making extra repairs that I had requested. Anyone who recommends I spend less money is ok in my book.The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars is that my car had a meltdown right as I drove off the lot. It was an honest mistake that probably should have been picked up with a simple drive around the block. That being said Eric went out of his way to fix the mistake free of charge and offered to give me a temp car free of charge as well. He definitely did right by me.I will definitely be going here for future work on my car.

When my mechanic hung his hat and quit the business I looked around for an honest shop with the integrity that I came to expect from years of automotive care. Browncroft Garage met my requirements. The staff are knowledgeable about their craft and if they dont know they call someone who does or will refer you to them directly. They tell you up front exactly what the itemized cost is for parts and repairs. While not the cheapest garage I believe you get what you pay for and the value I receive from this shop is yet unmatched. The only drawback is that around holidays they can be booked solid for two weeks or more. So if you are planning a trip around the holidays I would plan a month in advance.

Update: Business responded and offered a refund. I still question why they would fail a vehicle the met the guidelines to pass a NYS inspection.Failed my girlfriends inspection claiming she needed new brake calipers. Wanted $390 to pass the inspection. Got a second opinion from a reputable shop that concluded the calipers were fine, just needed some grease.

At most auto shops, I walk away having spent far more than I expected and feeling fairly certain that I was ripped off. Ive never had that feeling at Browncroft. Eric (the owner) and his team all seem to love what they do and to care about maintaining the reputation theyve earned mostly through word of mouth. Eric is a nice, no-BS kind of guy who doesnt patronize or intimidate; he just explains whats up with your car and completely understands no matter what you decide to do.If you need a loaner car, Eric will dig one up for you, which is a nice service that in my experience most shops dont provide. Just dont plan on picking up a date in your loaner car, because theyre usually pretty rough (not that I care - I just need something to get me to work). Eric always seems to get a kick out of seeing your first reaction to your ride for the day.

Eric is always studying and keeping up on the changes happening in the automotive industry.If i was back in Rochester, I would never let anyone else touch my car. But unfortunalely fom Florida Rochester is a little far for an oil change.
