I’m not a review poster, but, this particular business has great fundamentals that I’d like to promote. Customer service is very, very good and their mechanics always get to the heart of the problem. None of that, I get the car back and the same problem exists. They explain the issue thoroughly and have always gotten it right the first time. Cost is fair and I’ve never had any follow up issues. I’ve had several maintenance calls with South Street and have found their performance to be consistent. I bring my car to them for maintenance exclusively now. I would recommend without hesitation and I can’t say that about most business’s in general.
I had an appointment scheduled for a Wednesday, it was Friday and I called them and they told me they hadnt gotten a chance to look at my car and they probably wouldnt until next Wednesday oh, they say they have rental cars and they gave me a loaner that had a check engine light on, check oil light, and had a bunch of loose things in the back so it rattled every time I took a turn. They say they are short staffed oh, I dont doubt that most places are. The problem is if you are short staffed then dont tell people they can have an appointment that takes an entire week before it can even be looked at. Brian, one of the people to answer the phone however it was very nice and helpful
Went in there to replace an air filter, my normal place could not do it because the screws were very rusty talk to Jake he took the time to come out and take a look. I had no appointment clue they were busy but he still came out I did not have to wait they have a customer for life now
Refreshing! It was a big sigh of relief after speaking to Steve the Manager of South Street. One phone call, one conversation with Steve and I felt I had finally found an auto service company who was more concerned for customer service satisfaction than the bottom line! I took my Volvo for repairs, I was called and quoted a price for each repair, I was promised a loaner automobile if my car had to be left, which they did. I was given the opportunity to give consent to any work, the opportunity to decline certain repairs, without getting the guilt trip over declined repairs. Heres why I always take my cars here: today I took my car in for squeaky brakes figuring I needed new pads. Within 2 minutes the tech pulled out a walnut stuck in the brake caliper and confirmed the pads still have at least 20k miles left before a change is needed. No charge for finding and removing the squirrels walnut. This place is always fair and honest. Thank you!
Love it, love them. Fast friendly and willing to go above and beyond to make what would normally be a terrible experience one that I really enjoyed. The loaner car was decent and they had my entire transmission job done in less than 6 days!
Flawless work and customer service. They did a bunch of work on my car and did it very fast and gave me a loaner vehicle while I waited. Will definitely be going back to them with all of my car problems and maintenance!
I had to replace the original exhaust system on my vehicle and let South Street Auto Care do the job based on decent reviews. The muffler lasted about three years ... The part is covered by a lifetime manufacturers warranty - Walker. I asked them to take care of the damaged part and replace it under warranty terms, they just refuse! They said I had signed a standard disclaimer that the warranty covers 12 months on parts and labor, even though this unit comes with a lifetime warranty, it doesnt matter to them! They wanted to charge me for new parts! I had to work with Walker to fix this problem. Moreover, they charge for spare parts by more than 50%. Be careful, dishonest business, they will look deep in your pocket, poor customer service, and a high attitude!I can only edit this review. You are wrong again! They have been really surprised by what you and your employee did, they clearly indicated that the reseller, shop or authorized dealer should take care of the warranty claim on the customers behalf. Period! It is common sense and practice everywhere you go.
South Street is a fantastic place to take your vehicle. Everyone working was pleasant and easy to talk to. My vehicle was finished quickly and at a reasonable price. I even got a loaner while I waited! 10/10 I will definitely be taking my vehicle back for any repair or service needs.
These guys are really helpful and patient in making sure your car gets what it needs while putting you in something safe to drive while you wait. Its taken me 2 going on 3 weeks trying to get my car fixed just because Im waiting on a Government program to help pay for my car. These guys are my life savers for sure. Making sure that my cars fixed while I have a way to get back and forth during the process all I can say is that they are the BEST at helping people. 😍💯👌🏻
These guys do great work, you can trust them to do the job right, and then some! I can now drive with peace of mind, knowing my car will always stop (they found and fixed my brake problem, and some other annoyances which would have become major problems later on). They really know their stuff, will be going to them from now on! Customer service is top-notch as well!
Communication was great and the free loaner was a huge convenience. Ive only had my car back a few days but its running like new! My part was misquoted but thats not South Sts fault, although my brother had the same problem when South St serviced his car a couple months ago.

After several years of experience with South Street Auto, it is still impressive in every way one could wish in an auto maintenance/ mechanical repair service. That includes working with you on what procedure is essential at the time.If something can safely wait, they will tell you. If they say it is necessary, you can feel sure it is. For example, I brought the car in for its oil change. During general inspection, a few issues showed up. The car is nearing the point when I should, reluctantly, change it, before having to put a lot more money into it. S. St. Auto understands such dilemmas. They explained which problem had to be dealt with now for safety, and two that could be postponed for now, and a warning sign to watch out for if I chose to wait.It is really a very busy place ( not surprising) but they are good about updating you if things get slow. And of course their loaner cars are a huge bonus, even if not always immediately available.

I am totally pleased with Brett, technicians and staff. They saved me hundreds on my F150 by correctly diagnosing a coolant leak which the Ford garage misdiagnosed and I fortunately refused the Ford recommended repair. They also had the expertise and equipment to fix a significant transmission issue by following a Technical Service Bulletin instead of pushing a rebuild. They also have the best Covid-avoidance safe environment protocols I’ve seen for any business as well as a free loaner car and outstanding warranty policy. They have earned my repeat business for sure!

Your free loaner service was also immensely appreciated, especially by my Darling Wife who wasnt a bit happy about the thought Id be driving her brand new SUV while mine was in your shop. Update: after leaving this review and reaching back out to the shop, i was able to get in contact with the manager, drake. Drake was able to identify where the issue was and clarified what the misunderstanding was, ultimately we were able to come to a solution that worked for all involved. While south street could definitely work on ensuring all staff are clear and on the same page with regard to practices and policy, i can appreciate a company that recognizes and works to correct their mistake, and in the end i was satisfied with their services and work.From our initial phone call, this business seemed to be friendly, knowledgable, professional, and decently priced. Unfortunately, on my visit i discovered that south street auto care possessed none if these qualities. I spoke with a representitive named logan over a week ago to set up an appointment to service my vehicle, starting with a diagnostic. One of the things that drew me to south street was their promise of a free loaner while my vehicle was in the shop. Given that they only will give loaner vehicles to those age 21 and above, logan told me that i would be able to get one if i were able to get a parent to come to the shop with me to sign for the loaner, while i drove their vehicle.When we got to the shop, we were told that even though i had an appointment in place, they were running behind and it would be almost a week before they could even consider looking at my vehicle. And also, that since my car is titled in my name, they would not be able to give a loaner whatsoever. A different employee who overheard told the man helping us to ask the boss if its okay, but he refused to even bring it to his supervisor. Ultimately, this was one of the worst experiences that i have had with any auto shop, and a massive waste of time that i could have been using to find an actual, professional and honest shop to complete the much needed work.
This repair shop is first class. Brett is very knowledgable. They have good prices and are very upfront with all costs. And they have loaner cars.
EDIT FROM ORIGINAL POST***Im happy to say South Street did contact me and address the issues stated in the previous post - assured that additional testing would be completed to ensure I dont leave with the same problem again and also showed their willingness to be flexible on pickup time given the situation. I appreciate a company that takes responsibility and for this reason will remain open to using them again***I have been going here since I first got my license - before they expanded, and my mom even longer. Since theyve gotten bigger, theyve gotten progressively worse. I cant even go for an oil change without leaving my car there overnight.Most recently I had an engine light/O2 sensor problem, and an engine coolant leak I had repairs for. It took a week to get my car back. The day I picked my car up I noticed that now I had no heat in my car . When I called they said they wouldnt be able to see it today - so I had to drive without heat until they had an available slot.Fast-forward to this week - when I noticed my coolant was leaking again. I had already paid to have this problem repaired and sacrificed loads of time without my vehicle and driving back and forth. I dropped my car off Friday afternoon explaining to them that I absolutely needed it back by end of day Monday - no problem. My car didnt get looked at Friday, and it didnt get looked at Saturday. Monday morning they tell me they dont have the part (the same coolant bypass valve I had replaced last time) and that the car wouldnt be ready until Tuesday. No problem - but I cant come pick the car up until Thursday. They insisted I bring the loaner back Wednesday. I am not available all day every day to come to the shop which is why I communicated my availability from the start - my car is only back in the shop due to a previously unsuccessful repair not by choice, and it comes down to the fact that it didnt get looked at in a timely manner so the part didnt get ordered in time to finish the repair.Another time I paid them to put some screws in my heat shield that was hanging too low to the ground. Next time I came in I mentioned it was hanging down again, they pinned it back up for a small fee. Still - the heat shield catches wind on the highway and is super noisy because it never was pinned up properly. Problem never got fixed.Their commercials all talk about how frustrating it is to leave with the same problem you came in with and how they arent like that - yet all Ive seen in the last few visits is that exact scenario and nobody takes responsibility or apologizes for it.
This company is trustworthy and does exceptional quality work, however they take at least two days to change brakes and complete basic maintenance items. Please let me explain, so if you make an appointment two weeks in advance, and their techs are working on multiple jobs they may not get to your car that day even though you made an appointment. The agents will explain this to you because unforeseen things may come up from another job. Be mindful that they may be saying this to the other people that have been waiting for their cars for multiple days. Expect your car to be there days for basic maintenance like Brake Changes, Tune Ups, Radiator Flushes etc. Basic Engine work can take a week to several weeks minimum, so please be prepared. Be mindful even though they have rentals if you are under 21 years of age you cannot obtain a vehicle so you may have to take time off work. Please be prepared for the You Understand Speech If you have been in the business like I have you realize they are either short techs or there process that they follow work around them and not you, which confuses me if that is true customer service, however at the customers expense Taken time off work, waiting ETC. I have a lot of work done there, so what I write is from actual experience.The whole staff is nice and pleasant to work with so that is a plus, just do not complain about the wait or you will get the “You Understand Speech”I typically can do a brake inspection myself in 20 minutes and change pads and rotors in 1.5 hours front and back.Dropped the car off the previous night and it is 1PM next day and they have not even completed a brake inspection or ordered parts which will take another two hours to obtain from their warehouse. Now I did let them know two weeks ago before dropping the car off that I just wanted new pads and rotors. Everything else is good. I suppose doing a 20 min brake inspection in the morning and order parts then work on the other cars well the parts are in transit is not efficient.So if you do not mind the waiting and the “You Understand Speech” they are excellent Auto-care, I just wanted to write up my actual experience and conversation today I had with the representative. If they were not high quality and trustworthy I would not go back! They are just slow so if you do not mind that I recommend them.
We love South Street Auto Care. There honesty is the most important factor. They are very skilled mechanics and you can not beat getting a free loaner car. It makes life so much easier!
Honest place. They let you know every issue found but will tell you the order of importance. They aren’t money hungry - they care more about helping.
I had to replace my cars battery and so visited South Street Auto Care. The company replaced a battery worth of $135 and billed me for $177. In addition I was charged for the labor. When I noticed the price mismatch in the battery, I called to enquire about why there is no transparency. The response I got was This is the price and this is the way we do our business, if you dont like we are not for you. I understand everyone needs to make money but please dont break the trust and make another person unhappy in that process.

Highly recommend! I had gotten new brakes from South Street Auto about 2 years ago and needed new pads just this week. South Street Auto informed me that my brakes were under warranty and they completely replaced my brakes (rotors and pads) for FREE! This has never happened in my 20 years of needing car repairs. So happy with South Street Auto!

Amazing service every time. I recently used the free vehicle pick up/drop off for an oil change. First off, I was impressed that they even offer a service like that but also so impressed at how smoothly it all went! Major help during COVID to social distance and not have to leave my home. Service was great as usual and all the employees are always friendly.

Came in for power steering service, among other things. Even though there was a lot of work done, it was still done in a good window of time. Very friendly service and they treat you like a human being, rather than a number. Will always recommend in the Rochester area.
I told them over the phone that I had a valve cover gasket leak but they would not give a price without looking at it. I get to their shop and the lobby is closed so you have to put your keys in a drop box without getting to talk to anyone. What do you know, they told me I have a valve cover leak and the cost was only a few dollars less than the dealer. Then they charged me $36 for this revelation. My mistake

Great people. Great service. I have an older Mercedes that I had serviced at the dealer since it was new. I grew tired of the lack of customer care there, so I found South Street Autocare, which had great reviews. My experience was first rate. The people that work there seem to truly care about their customers and don’t take them for granted. The fact that I could get a free loaner car was a huge bonus. I will be bringing both my cars to South Street from now on.
This place is NOT your typical auto service shop! I was impressed right away when their hold music repeated the mission and core values of the office- it was a refreshing reminder that this would be different than other service shops. I had a 10:15 appointment and my oil change and tire rotation were completed quickly and efficiently while I waited. Best of all- it was $30 cheaper than my last oil change place charged! Their waiting room was clean and inviting and it’s clear their office staff really likes each other and gets along well. I was further surprised that my oil change entitled me to free roadside assistance for the next 12 months. Highly impressed by this facility- I’ll be back!

I couldnt be more pleased with the service and professionalism at South Street Auto. My vehicle is approaching the 80k mile mark and requiring more attention than ever, so Ive had several occasions to work with the South Street team since referral by a friend last year. Several friends recommended South Street Auto Care to me. I have my car repaired a couple of days ago. I am quite satisfied with the service there. The staff is very friendly and their work is efficient. They also provided me a free loaner car while my car was kept there. I am glad my car was fixed fast.
DEFINITELY get a second opinion before any major work done at this shop. Our 2005 Pontiac Bonneville stalled out on us, many miles from home. Tantalized by the good reviews, we decided this would be a good place to go. We were quoted just under $5k for a new engine, which seemed off to begin with since our options for engines they had were incredibly high mileage - almost 30k more than the actual vehicle had on it! We were given a laundry list of things wrong with the vehicle, ranging from collapsed rocker arms to a completely seized timing chain, and was basically told the engine was scrap.Disappointed, we had to pay several hundred dollars to have the vehicle towed back home, as we obviously couldnt afford this repair. Fast forward a few weeks and we got a second opinion on the vehicle. Almost NONE of what this shop said about our engine was accurate. The rocker arms were fine, and the timing chain was NOT seized - it had literally only slipped off due to a loose bolt that had fallen off. The shop we got it fixed at charged us less than HALF what South Street Auto Care quoted us for, and the car runs better than ever. I am considering contacting the Better Business Bureau now that this ordeal is over with.We were down a vehicle for MONTHS trying to save up for a repair that quite literally did not need to exist - not to mention out of pocket almost $1,000 that we really didnt have to get the car towed home and back to a second shop. This is terribly disappointing.

Each time I step into the reception area at South Street I feel valued as a customer. I am usually greeted by name as I have been a customer for at least 15 years. I am always treated with courtesy and respect. I know they appreciate that my time and getting my car back as quickly as possible are important to me. I have always been dealt with honestly and fairly. I can trust that my car repair is done with excellence and I can feel secure when I drive away. Went there for a starting problem. Wanted to charge me for just looking at it. They will not investigate anything or give you any estimates without getting you obligated for an inspection fee, which of course is credited to any repair work you have done. The prices are high, but thats Rochester today. Not like when Bill used to run it as North Hill. He would talk to you about issues and possible outcomes without charging for it like an attorney would. Theyve modernized and upscaled their approach since it was North Hill and Im sure that makes all the soccer moms happy. For my money Ill head out to Romeo for my car repairs.

I got my car brake pads and rotors replaced. The price quote was decent than other auto care near my place, customer service was very good. Its been 2months I didnt find any issues.They also made the replacement quick on the same day.

This was the first time using South Street Auto Care. I was very happy with the entire experience. Karly helped me and everybody was friendly from the drop off, update calls and pick up. I brought the car in because of a check engine light and some other routine maintenance. When they checked out the car the check engine light wasn’t on any longer and they said the code for the error was due to a misfire. They checked my service records to see when the plugs were replaced and did an inspection of the car and didn’t feel they needed to charge me for addiction tests and completed the remaining maintenance. I appreciate the honest evaluation and will definitely use them for future car repairs.

Kirk, Joel, and the rest of the team there were awesome when my wife and I were in the process of buying a used minivan. We took it in for an inspection, and they did a really thorough job checking everything out and advised us that it was a great purchase, and some things that needed to be done on it eventually. We bought the van and brought it back in for a brake job, and to get another thing fixed they had initially recommended, and when Joel called to give us a quote on the brake job, he mentioned the other thing (something with the flex pip) really didnt need to be fixed right away if we didnt want to, that is was just a cosmetic issue. I thought that was really respectable as other repair shops wouldve led me to believe it had to be fixed just to get the extra money out of me. These guys were just super friendly and honest throughout the whole process and my wife and I couldnt be more thankful and appreciative. Another thing worthy of noting is that when my wife went in to pick up the van from the inspection, there was another guy in there who was a previous customer who brought in bagels for the whole crew there to show his appreciation for whatever it was they did for him. Also, when I went in to drop the van off for the brake job, in the waiting room was an elderly lady who was waiting to hear the word on an issue with her cars wheels (or something). The repair tech came out, and knelt down on her level and just really nicely explained what the problem was, and offered to fix it for free. She seemed so appreciative and was like well I guess Ill just have to bake you all more cookies then!. That stuff really says a lot about the people you are trusting to be honest with you about the repairs on your vehicle. I cant recommend this place more highly. Kirk also owns another location in Livonia called Kirks Auto Care, and from what Ive read in the reviews of that location and heard from friends is that the experience is the same as North Hill.. just super friendly and honest.
Made an appointment to have my vehicle looked at. The engine codes said the thermostat needs replacing. My appointment is for 9:30am Thursday morning. Drop it off at 9:10 am and was told they couldnt look at it until 4pm or so. Whats the point of making an appointment if they disregard them?I get called back at 5pm Thursday saying the thermostat needs replacing and they will try to get it fixed by end of day Friday.Friday comes and I get a call saying the car wont be ready. It might be ready on Saturday, but most likely it wont be ready until Monday.Its now Monday, I dont hear a thing all day. I call at 3:00pm to see what the status is. I was told that the mechanic just finished on another car and he is now going to work on my car. Still llloking like it will be ready by closing time at 6pm. At 5:15, I call again. They said it will be done by 6:00pm, come on down at 5:45. I get a call at 5:40, saying the mechanic isnt sure he will be done by 6pm, but come down anyways. I get there at 5:45 and sit for 20 minutes, then was told that it wont be done today. I got upset and walked out while still being told a bunch of excuses.Tuesday at 12:20, I get a call my vehicle was ready. I go down there, pay my bill and got out of there. Not sure if I will ever come back again.It takes too long for them to work on your car, and appointments dont make a difference.
Great customer service. Brian was awesome with diagnosing and letting us know what was going on with the car. And also got it fixed quick!

I cant stress enough the importance of the honesty and integrity you can expect from South Street Auto Care. Time and time again, when another mechanic would have charged for unnecessary repairs, these guys give you the real diagnosis and charge appropriately. A rarity and a breath of fresh air.
My car was over heating and all of a sudden it wouldnt start. I got my car towed thinking I blew my engine but since I kept on shutting off my car before it got way to hot I was in luck and didnt blow my engine. They updated me when they found out what was wrong. Best auto shop Ive been to. Will definitely be going back for an oil change soon. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone. I brought my car to South Street get a second opinion to what a different auto shop told me. I should have just come here first.Drake was so helpful helping figure out what was going on with my engine. He took my car for a short test drive to actually hear what my problem is (a ticking sound in my engine), I left the car with him and he called me back promptly and had a multitude of pricing breakdowns for labor and parts to best suit what I could afford.He was even more helpful in discovering that my engine was still covered under the dealership warranty, made all of the necessary phone calls and we had everything sorted out in less than 15 minutes; all over the phone.I will absolutely be back to South Street Auto and I will be telling everyone that will listen to head there for any and all issues with their vehicles.
Everyone here is very personable and professional. they know their stuff, and they’re able to explain it to me (an automotive numbskull) in terms i can understand. the storefront itself is very welcoming. it’s a clean, open space and they even have games for grownups! 😄 i just wish they had better news for me about my car 😔
I brought in a 2007 Ford Focus for a steering pump noise about month ago. Now, I have a defective steering pump that makes noise again. The car was in their care for about a week. They just wanted to get rid of me, so they put a bad steering pump in my vehicle. Im a single mother with two jobs, and have to have reliable transportation. I will never return to this place of business again.
I love this place! I had an antifreeze leak, and they fixed it as well as checking out a brake issue, that turned out to be nothing to worry about, as well as an oil change. They gave me rides home and when it was ready. Everyone who works here is so nice, and knowledgeable! I will be back when ever the mini needs attention again.
Place a little expensive but with quality work comes the price. They do a good job and the loaner car feature is amazing. Professional and highly recommended. They followup a lot on how their service was and if there was anything they could do differently. I had come here to get my purge valve replaced.
Starting from the beginning to the end, they did a very comforting and great job for me. Brett, he helped me a lot, walked through the process of the car, sent me videos of how things were going and pictures of the issue. I did a major job for my MINI but better price than the dealer! It was great

I had a rough first time here but they fixed everything and turned it from a rough first time to a great first time going there. They made me a lifer i will go there all the time because they do great work and work with you and make sure you do not leave unless you are satisfied and happy with there work. This place has never let me down. They do honest work and keep you informed throughout the entire process. The staff are friendly and will call you with updates as they repair your car for a good piece of mind.They also offer a loner car, which is really nice especially if your car wont be drivable for an extended period. They are located off a nice, secluded road so its not difficult to turn into the lot, which is nice.They are very personable people and will get the job done for you. I havent had a bad experience here personally.
Got me in quick and very friendly gents in the waiting room. Cost was much cheaper than the dealerships and would go again! They even were curious on why I was getting some of the work done. Planned on keeping the car until it dies is why. Thanks again!
South Street Auto Care provides excellent service and always takes the time to explain and prioritize repairs that need to be done. I first brought my car to them when the dealership misdiagnosed an issue. Not only did they identify the correct solution but the cost came in well below what the dealership quoted. The staff at the front desk is always professional and courteous and the free loaner cars are so convenient. We have since moved too far away to continue to come to South Street Auto Care, and Im so bummed that Ive had to find a new mechanic!
The entire staff is so very professional, caring, and honest. You don’t use the word honest often in auto repair. Carly couldn’t have been more informative, helpful, or kinder. My husband has been taking our cars here longer than I remember. My repairs are going to take days but get this they gave me a loaner. I am a South Street customer for life.

Before it became South Street, my family and I had been going to North Hill for over 10 years! I just had my car in there for about a week with some extensive work needed and Mike (service attendant) was very informative and nice to speak with throughout the process. When I picked my car up there was tons of snow on it and the mechanic who worked on my car came out and took my snow scraper from me and brushed my entire car off for me. Just great great service and I am glad the new owners are continuing the great reputation that North Hill had! Oh, and they gave me a free loaner car for the week! Awesome!

Instead of a hallway aside from the shop, the aesthetics now spoke of clean/neat attention to detail; and they carried that over to my vehicle too. I gave the guys my list of things that needed repair and they pointed out that I had an item under warranty still from a previous visit. I was so impressed with their integrity and very glad for the effort to save me some cash. That pricey item was repaired along with the other things by the next day, and I had a loaner car to make do until then!I totally recommend these guys to family and friends, and will continue to do so. This place is amazing. I had a great experience. I received an insane quote from another shop and South Street gave me a much better price and much better service. I’m a customer for life. Be sure to ask for Carly. She’s great/funny and knowledgeable. I loved the attention to detail and honesty. They also have free loaner cars. I didn’t get a chance to use one—only because they were so busy!
I have an older Mercedes that I had been servicing at the dealer since it was new. I grew tired of the lack of customer care there, so I researched local independent repair shops and found South Street Autocare. I found the people there to be energetic and attentive and their customer focus to be first rate. They got my car repaired earlier than estimated, and I had the use of loaner car for free! The cost of the repair was reasonable. I am going to use South Street Autocare for both my cars from now on.
Such a rare completely trustworthy shop!Its almost unbelievable how much this place has to offer you:-free on site loaner cars-roadside assistance-warranties-over night drop box for easy late drop offs,-timely updates on the repair, etc.Unlike so many of my experiences with other shops all the guys I interact with are so respectful and make sure you are fully informed on your options. And all of their work on our cars has held up great, they legitimately fix the problem you come in with.

I took my 1997 Cavalier to South Street Auto Care for a brake emergency. They did a great job of repairing the brake system and identifying a couple other problems that need attention because of the age of the vehicle. Service follow up with the customer was great and prices were reasonable. I wouldnt hesitate to us them again.
