Ive been in Rochester all my life and recently had my first visit here. Above and beyond what I expected and visually pleasing. Used treasures like rare films can be bought at a reasonable price. Their gifts and novelties however, while fun to look at, are astronomically priced.

I go to this place very often, I have been going for over 2 years at this point, and visit multiple times a week. I can say with full positivity, this place is amazing. The selection is massive, always getting new things. they also have a great section of used items that are great prices. The staff is very kind always ready to help. When in Rochester, Record Archive is the place to go!

What an outstanding experience! I can see why this is a long-running cherished part of Rochester. I must admit having lived there my whole life this was the first time Ive been there. As you would expect there is a ton of records a lot to look at and a lot to take in. I went with my daughter who was new to the record world. When I approached the counter to ask about getting started I was greeted warmly and brought into the way their store operated. No question was too dumb and we were treated with respect through the whole process. I would highly recommend stopping in here!

Love this place! Aside from a great selection of recorded music, its a treasure trove of unique gift ideas. Then, the live music hall has some of the best acoustic sound to highlight the musicians performing. Quaint furnishing and great service make this a place to hang out with friends or comfortably visit to find that special gift. Fun!

Beginning in 1977 and throughout the next many years, my wife and I would come to Rochester to visit my dear, now departed much too soon friend, Jim Anderson and his lovely wife, Eileen and their 3 children. The Record Archive was always a must visit. One of my scores was SOME GIRLS on Orange Vinyl. Most importantly, it was the greatest place to browse. Never a rush and always a welcome feeling. *👌

Record Archive has been my go to store for music forever. Use to visit the old Mount Hope store weekly back in my college days at the U of R for my weekly music fix. Love the big store, can spend hours looking through all the records and cds. Constantly find music the big box stores and Amazon just don’t carry. As physical media goes the way of the dodo, Record Archive is the last bastion of records and cds in Rochester. Great store, great staff, great vibe and atmosphere…always enjoy my visits!

Ive been an on-and-off customer at Record Archive since I was in my early teens and they have never once disappointed. The selection has always been excellent with a single exception (their electronic music catalog is a bit sparse, but I dont hold it against them) and the prices are fair. There are always fun bits of merch around the shop too; Im a fan of the Iron Maiden figures and my wife loves the vintage stuff. Now that Ive gotten into vinyl Ive been back to the Archive a few times and Ive always left with something awesome. Heres to another twenty years of finding killer tunes here!

Great selection of Lps I purchased a Vintage TT that they said they serviced I dont think they did much because when I tried to set the counter weight I couldnt figure out why its was barely moving when I turned it! I was lucky to find the Service and Owners manual easy on the net and found the screw that holds the shaft the counter weight is on was very loose! (Enough that it could have fallen off and do a lot of damage to the tone arm, cart, stylus and cover) This did not happen from the drive home and it was impossible to set the stylus weight with it like this!!! I did get a discount for another issue but it was something that I could live with! They need to be a little more honest! In the condition I received it I still paid to much thats my fault just a warning to check things out really closely! I would have returned it but I live over 100 miles away.

Everybody in Rochester knows about the House Of Guitars for new and used vinyls. Not everybody knows about the Record Archive. They have much fewer records than HOG, but seem to have more of what your are actually looking for AND, much better organized than HOG. They are remodeling their in house bar/lounge, so we couldnt use that on our last visit, but in you are on a search for a classic or hard to find vinyl, check out Record Archive, it may be well worth your trip.

The people that work there are so knowledgeable and friendly. Went with my son for the last two record releases. The store was neat and easy to look around in. Its organized and flows well. They have so many records from a dollar and up. The record release events are organized and very easy to find what your looking for. To nit pick, the only thing I feel they could approve on would be adding more t-shirts and posters.
