This place is not cGood to take ur boat for wrking on..they had my boat for 3 mth saying it because of parts.then when the parts get here they still need to order another part for it .this place is full of lies an is a joke.the Customer service sucks.they never have any knowledge of whzs goin on wth ur boat r whos wrking on it...
Do not buy a boat here! My husband and I came here to look at used boats about 3 weeks ago.We went in knowing exactly what we wanted, Our salesman Tony helped us find it. We got approved through our bank and signed all the documents a few short days after making the decision to purchase the boat. Apparently they had not aquired the title for the boat they had in their possession for months. So we had to wait for it until the title for the new engine came in. We constantly had to call to get updates as to when we can pick up our new toy as we had already started making plans. My husband called today and apparently they wouldnt release the boat to us until they receive their check from the bank. They said the bank needed insurance documents from us so we called the bank to see what the holdup was because we were never instructed to do so, when we initially started the process the bank said we had 30 days to provide them with insurance paperwork. We ultimately canceled the deal as we were constantly given the runaround, especially when we told someone working at the dealership today what our bank had told us in regards to the insurance documents and they told us we were wrong. We received horrible customer service today and we will not be giving any of our money to Master Marine. Look elsewhere with better customer service.
Great place to purchase a boat and service ask for Tony Guterez
We were actively looking for a used bay boat for a few months and popped into dealerships all over the coast and S Texas. Time after time, salesmen tried to sell us boats we didn’t want, or they would say have your husband call us, or sales people couldn’t be bothered at all because we were looking at used boats. We finally called Master Marine in San Antonio about their inventory and Woody offered to stay late (after hours) to show us boats. What a great guy! Within 30 min, Woody got us into a new 2020 Carolina Skiff 21 LS, a new Suzuki 140 OB and new McClain trailer.Last month during the super quick and easy purchasing process, Woody treated us with outstanding customer service (as if we were buying a 200k boat.) Woody guided us through extras for the boat, GPS and Sonar units, power pole, stereo, Bimini tops (free at Master Marine) without overselling us. Very, very good pricing not only on the boat but equipment and install too. Boat was ready several days ahead of schedule (that never happens) and when we went to pick it up, Woody stayed late (again) to help us out with some trailer wiring harness issues we were having on our SUV.We can’t say enough about how professional, knowledgeable, attentive & patient Woody is @ Master Marine! If you’re in the market to buy or are just looking at boats, don’t waste your time any place else. Go see Woody, he’s a straight shooter and the real deal. We will be life long Master Marine customers, thanks again Woody!
Poor service. No one upfront and no one welcomes you. Walked to the back guessing someone was there - waited for the employees to finish their conversation. Asked about jet skis - they said nope and that was it. Haha, cant believe this place is in business.... and then I read their poor reviews as I was ran across it looking for a boat too.......
Knowledgeable staff. We didnt make a purchase, but all of our questions were answered.
Really disappointed in the service I have received from master marine. I am more bummed because I really like Chuck. I know he tries, but it is easy to see they have him stretched as a service writer and probably their only top notch mechanic. Chuck has gone the extra mile, but often forgets items because he should be a mechanic. I had an ongoing issue with my boat. I took it in 3 times for 2 issues. The first one happened to be bad gas. Chuck got that fixed up. However, on all three visits, I told him. My boat is getting warmer than usual on heavy load. Being a shade tree mechanic watch those gauges like a hawk. So I never let the boat get very warm. They said all three times they put in the tank and nothing. I SPECIFICALLY asked when does the thermostat need to changed. A few weeks ago, we hit the lake and try to pull some tubers . . the boat starts getting warm. Most shops are backed up this time of year for weeks and did not want to wait to get the boat back. So I decided to pull the impeller, check the hoses for clogging and finally the thermostat housing. As you can see in the attached picture. After all the years of dropping off my boat at master marine, not one time have they even CHECKED the thermostat. This is insane . . . my boat has an 8.2L big block. It would cost over $10K to rebuild an engine because of $20 part. To avoid any issues, I replace the entire thermostat housing and installed a new hoses and impeller.I can’t use these guys anymore. Hopefully they can get a good service writer or maybe if that is all Rick did he would not be so stretched.Posted pics of housing on yelp . .
Excellent service. These guys are great.
The staff is really friendly
We recently bought a center console fishing boat after an exhaustive online search from Woody at Master Marine. He was awesome throughout the entire process. As first time boat owners, Woody helped us decide what was right for our needs. We settled on a 19 foot Blue Wave STL and couldn’t be more happy. The boat performs great on the lake or in the bay, and the Suzuki outboard is super efficient and quiet. Thanks, Woody. We’ll be back when it’s time for an upgrade!!
Im going to give from 1star up to 4 stars now. As my wife posted a review before with the 1 star. This is a update to the review. Master Marine offered to come pick up my boat (as I live very far from them) to take care of the bilge, and ect stuff that wasnt handled the first time. I decided to drop it off myself. It was fixed and ready to go within a few days. After taking it out on the ocean and testing, I can say that everything works perfectly. No issues whatsoever. Suzuki 200hp inline 4 performed like a beast. I know we had our issues with Master Marine, but they took care of us in the end. Will be taking my boat back for the free service that was promised. Thanks
Sent my boat in for some repairs from hitting a rock, 4 weeks later my boat has not been touched. I was told from chuck that they would get right on it but yet nothing. This place has the worst customer service and not sure how they stay in business. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The only difference between chuck and the last service manager Roland is Chuck doesn’t stutter when he lies. Save your self the trouble and headache and take your boat somewhere else. I wish there was a negative rating because that’s what this place deserves.
Id leave a review with negative stars if I could. My husband and I bought a repower through Master Marine. Originally we were told our boat would be completed in approx 14 days. It took over 6 weeks. 1st excuse was UPS said they delivered it but its not here!!! 2 days later they found our motor. 2 weeks later they STARTED the repower. Since we were not going to be able to use the boat due to my husband working abroad, we gave them a light bar, stereo, and speakers to install. Finally, after 4 promise dates, we got our boat back. Light bar is missing hardware, hanging off 1 side, speaker lights are not hooked up correctly, dead batteries, no fuel in the lines...was it even tested? Horrible customer service, I called every day for over a week asking for an estimate which I never got. $119/hr to install a stereo??? Over priced!!!UPDATE: After over 2 months we were finally able to get our boat on the water. To our disappointment the wash down pump, bilge pump, and live well pumps were not working. They were free floating-not attached or wired in!! We were charged for the labor to fix these issues as stated in the invoice: Add ons customer pay, get live well pumps operating, get wash down pumps operating, get bilge pump operating etc. We had to take our boat, once again to have it fixed. Another week wasted so they can address what we have already paid for-inconvenienced AGAIN! Another $460 later-for parts, we have our boat back. Their remedy? A free ($350) 20 hour maintenance/warranty check. In my opinion that doesnt cover all the inconveniences, drives from Floresville to San Antonio, or unreasonable 10 hours of labor that we were charged for work that was not done. I will only take my boat for their warranty work-I will NEVER take my boat back for new or additional work to MASTER MARINE! I will drive 200 miles to avoid getting ripped off from this place.
I’ve owned my boat for 1 1/2 years and bought used. Had an overheat and water pressure problem with my Optimax 200 that another boat shop in San Antonio did not fix, kept telling me motor was fine, I was running in dirt water hence the overheat issues. I got fed up and tried out Master Marine. Chuck actually took the time to really look at my motor and it had an exhaust leak/gasket issue. Water was not getting to areas that it needed to get to. Chuck did several other things to my motor that the other boat shop missed. My motor now has awesome water pressure and no overheat issues. I was about ready to give up on this Optimax and Chuck solved the issues. I have finally found a mechanic that I trust in San Antonio!!!!
Had a fabulous visit with them today. Rick, at the service/parts desk, was brilliant. He was super helpful working with Mercury service to get me a new serial sticker for my outboard.
Well this is my third year with my 2016 19 Chaparral with Volvo Penta motor that I bought new from Master Marine back in 2017.My wife and i have never been able to enjoy because it has never allowed us to run it more than 35 minutes before alarming going into limp mode and shutting down the motor. The boat has only 22 hours on it and Master Marine has had 3 chances to repair and have been unsuccessful.Every time i have to haul it back to San Antonio from Lake LBJ.My frustration and patience have reached the end.Volvo sold them a lemon and they sold it to me.
Took my 1995 Tracker boat to them because Mercury motor was not charging. They refused to even look at it! Stated they will not work on anything more than 2yrs old. And they were a Mercury dealer?
Would not recommend do business with these guys, I bought a new boat and the day I took it home it had a dead battery and a fuel leak. There service department should have caught the issue way before letting me leave. The service manager Roland couldnt even say Im sorry for your inconvenience instead what came out of his mouth was we close at 6:00. So in short if you want to deal with issues this is your place if not try Chriss Marine or anyone else.
Wayne was awesome! He got our boat ready in a timely manner and gave us his personal # to contact him if anything should worry us while on the water. He even gave us a nice gift in a big purple and gold box😁🥃
Great customer service, super friendly and helpful.😊
I want to thank the staff of Master Marine for a wonderful buying experience. As a first time boat buyer I had lots of questions and Wayne took his time and answered all of my questions and concerns. I highly recommend Master Marine to anyone looking for a new or used boat.
I bought a new Blue Wave from Master Marine. I found both the sales and service department extremely knowledgeable, price competitive, and helpful. After the sale, I was contacted twice to make sure everything was perfect. Great experience. I would recommend them over all other area dealerships.
Had a major repair done to boat. Very professional and friendly. As expeditious with service as possible since we were dealing with insurance company and ordering major parts. Pleasant visit.
Deliver 5
Thanks chuck and master marine for a great job done on my 125 mercury saltwater series it runs great now. thank you so much for fixing what a place called the boat shop in san Antonio couldnt get right two times. So happy now that chuck and his team fixed it right the first time awesome job.
I brought these guys my boat after I took it out of storage and it wouldnt start. I checked all the basics and couldnt figure it out. Chuck at Master Marine came out and looked over my boat for about 10 minutes and he figured out that the starter connection had come loose. We reconnected it and the boat fired right up! I offered to give him some cash and he politely declined, he said just go have fun on the lake. Great guy and a great place, Ill definitely bring my boat back in the future
These guys are great! I recently purchased a used boat and was referred to Master Marine by my neighbor. The shop did an initial check on the boat, motor and trailer finding a small problem with the ignition coil. Within a few days they had everything done and the cost was way less than I was anticipating. Since then Ive been back with one other issue which they were honest in telling me they could do some unnecessary work if I wanted them to but rather gave me advise on how to take care of it myself. I like their honesty and willingness to explain things to a new boat owner.
Im zero for 6 visits at this place. Never have ANY mundane parts. Only thing I have ever bought was lower unit oil. They luckily had it that day.. they need a sign above the parts counter that says GO TO BASS PRO because they probably get tired of telling customers that all day
Have my boat there a year and they still havent finished up . Its not the Mechanics fault its management.
Brought my Mercury 15hp in for service. They said that they would have to go into the engine for the repair and that it would be cheaper to buy another one. I was charged $100. I took engine to another mechanic who said it was just the accelerator pump and fixed it for $73 dollars. About a month later they phoned me to survey if I was satisfied. I told them no and told them how I was able to get it fixed somewhere else. They apologized. However they called back after a few minutes and offered a store credit for the one hour of labor. I thought this was just GOOD BUSINESS!
Poor service
Stopped in today to bring a lower case drive that seemed to be stuck in forward. Had Chuck and Rick take a look at it, these good ol boys had it right in under 30 seconds!!Great folks back there in the service department! These guys set the standard for HIGH customer service in the marine industry. From now on, my Yamaha will ONLY go to Master Msrine for service amd I just may get my new Carolina from them also!!
Ive had my Carolina Skiff from Master Marine about 2 months now. Great boat, engine, and trailer. As I was shopping around for a boat, I had a great conversation with Albert. About a month later, when I was ready to buy, he remembered me and my son. We looked at a few more Carolina Skiffs (this was the boat type I was most interested in) and he offered me a great deal on the boat which I accepted. After the sale, Albert took the time to provide a free, thorough lesson on towing the boat, as I had never towed a thing in my life, and this is a good size boat. The lesson was invaluable and completely eased the stress. Two weeks later, when I was ready to get her on the water, Albert again took the time to meet me at Braunig Lake for another lesson, this time in boat riding. He spent over an hour instructing and helping to break in the new engine. Again, invaluable time spent. These were services that were unexpected and almost felt as I should offer compensation for his time, but Albert was not having it.My purchase experience has been nothing short of excellent. Ill post another review when its time for servicing.************************Service follow up:So, Ive had to go in for service twice. First was the required 20 hour maintenance on the engine. The turn-around time and price were as quoted. The service was just fine and no surprises. The second trip was to replace a broken water pump. I stopped by on a Weds. to ask if it would be covered by warranty and what the turnaround time would be. Because I mentioned Id be heading to the coast that very weekend, they offered to have it done within a day. I brought the boat in that same afternoon and the boat was ready as promised in time for my trip. The repair was an easy one, but I was glad they were accommodating. Again, no surprises.Just today I received a follow up call to ask about the service experience and they asked that I call back should any other issue arise. Pretty good service, IMO.
My first time visiting master Marin parts department. Mr RICK is outstanding he helped me with everything I needed for maintenance kit!!
Best mechanic Chuck. Great service honest an up front on whats needed.
I have been dealing with them for 4 years now, called because I had an issue with my ignition... mechanic laughed and hung up on me over the phone. Really? $1500 a year just for engine service and you cant help me out? I will never use them again.
Wanted to buy a boat today...stood in the showroom for about 30 minutes (20 minutes after speaking to the young lady at the desk in the back, no one said hello, how are you, can I help you, nothing..... have money, have credit. I emailed a place in Houston about the same boat they answered my email immediately... I guess I will drive to Houston.
I brought my Yamaha to them for service. My boat was completed when promised at the price quoted. They did an excellent job. Very friendly and professional staff.
They are full of it, customer service sucks I could go on and on. The owner will never return a call even after many attempts to get problem solved.DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY OR THE OUTDOOR LIVING. Save yourself the trouble, the time and your money.
Mike is very helpful. Great place.
Always great costomer service honest and friendly
Great service and great selection
First time buyers BEWARE! Dishonest.
They treat you great when youre buying your boat, after that, customer service goes out the window.
Excellent. Beyond nice. Chuck and Rick on top of their game.
If I could give this business a ZERO I would. Worst experience ever. Albert the sales guys talked all this bulls$?t. We traded our boat that was in good condition for being a 2009 for a new Carolina Skiff. Trade in value started at $11,000 but when inspected went down to $8,000 because the wood in boat was roted. Had no clue. We took our boat out in early October no issues. At that point Albert said no biggie we can repair for $3,000-$4,000 we will deduct from trade value. I was skeptical because as far as I know key west stop making boats with wood in 2004 but anyway I gave my husband the ok. Then Albert was so dang confident that our boat would sell he saidgive me 10days I will get sold as is whoever purchases will be responsible for repair of the rot and the soft spot and if we sell for more than trade in value we will cut you a check for the difference . He even listed that on contract and signed bunch of crap. Then u will have a new boat blah blah!!!!!! Longggggg story short boat didnt sell Albert n the people at master marine kept our boat for a month. We purchased a new boat they gave us $4,000 for our trade because they kept finding this n that with it which was a bunch of bull. Signed contract for new boat, delivered $30,000 check from broker, signed our title for old boat over to master marine and after a month picked up new boat without all the promises Albert SAID he would do (blue tooth radio, Spare tire). Then 2 days later after bringing new boat home Albert calls and wants us to bring back boat because our trade is not good to sale and wants to back out of a binding contract that has been signed. He harassed us and called us scammers n threatened to call the cops on us. How dare he I will be reporting this to the BBB and our lawyer. I feel like he messed up somewhere and wants to put the blame on us but as far as I know he took our previous owned boat offered us a deal we took it n that is no longer our issue. I dont know if he damaged the boat when he took out cause the first time he ran previously owned boat there was no issue second time he claimed it was filling up with water. How dare he expect us to pay for repairs on something we no longer own nor agreed to be responsible for repairs anywhere on the contract. That is master marines boat now not our responsibility they inspected and the issues that kept arising should have been listed before they agreed to take as trade and sign off on it. Like I said they had our previously owned boat for 1 MONTH and took out to lake no issues then all of a sudden issues. I have a funny feeling that they are scammers n trying to fix something that should have never happened. I dont know what but never in my life have I ever had an issue like this. Our boat is in our driveway not at master marine were only responsible for whats ours not what is no longer ours. Run farrrrrr away from this place they are full of crap and dont know a thing about customer service. Albert the sales guy is a harassing pos and gets very fisty when told the truth when it comes to his mistakes.
I go here for parts and service with no problems
I bought my boat there and had a great experience, however in the last two years staff has changed in it is definitely not good for them. If you need work done, keep all your receipts it seems they dont put things in the computer as they should. That way they can charge you $142 for fixing a hose for draining the bait tank in the rear... maybe a 2 foot rubber hose....wow...then of course it comes to the reason that I needed to fix it. Last year had them put air stones in my front and rear live well, seems that they didnt check the work when done and my rear tank wouldnt drain. I was thinking they would have it on file that they did the work, oops i was wrong they want me to prove that i had the work done there. Sure wish i would have researched this a bit more before spening that much money with them.Take my advice run the other way if if you have to drive to corpus for a bluewave or austin...Great boat horrible service... Brought the boat on tuesday as asked, but didnt get it back till thursday.......Stay away.
Worst service I have ever had. I get better service at the drive thru at MC Donalds. Had to wait a week for them to call me about staus of my boat repair and they have had it for over a month. When thay said they would call me the next day.I had to take it back to them 3 times to fix the same problems that was supposed to be fixed and never was. Spent almost $2400 on it.Had the yearly maintance done and they didnt even change the fule filter like they were supposed to. How do I know if they did any thing else to it. Left replaced parts on top of my boat and I had to through them away in there dumpster for them. Once I get my boat back I will never go back. I would drive it hours away just so they would be able to work on it. I have now had to get eveinrude involved as well as the better business buro. I would never recommend them and I kniw alot of people that fish since I fish alot of tournaments.
Very helpful employees, thanks to Chuck for the info.
Reliable and professional
Mike at Master Marine is very knowledgeable about boats!
Not a very friendly place to get some boating needs, parts or even a boat. Fr someone new to boating and was ready to spend $30k on a fishing boat, went to austin instead.
Great people, knowledgeable
Great folks and service
Awesome shop !!!
If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible customer service. The service department went through it. Yea........right.
