Such a disappointment to find in such a nice area. The staff is a complete joke. Rude, like they have something else to do with their time besides help customers. Walked in the other day to look around and was completely ignored. Selection is a disappointment also. And the loud conversation that the male employee gives there is ridiculous, we understand trying to get to know a customer, but how fake can someone sound??? Front desk staff should just pick their noses while their at it. The guy didnt seem knowledgeable at all with what he was selling, sounded more like he was trying to make a win for the day. (Desperate) Over heard the name is Josh. My suggestion? Its a nice area yes, but this eye place can be avoided. Where has genuine customer service gone? Throw away the whole staff and start over doc!

I really like Dr. Vlasak, she is a sweet woman and you can tell she truly cares about her patience. I wish the same could be said about the office staff. Josh, the guy who helps you pick frames is completely unprofessional and had to get the last word with everything I said. He also continued to correct me on my complaints to turn it to my issue, not the glasses that were blurry.As the conversation continued he kept telling me how gracious he is and that HE would allow my glasses to be remade, when it is the company policy. But if HE ordered my glasses remade to the corrected prescription any adjustments would be out of my pocket.I asked Josh to speak to his manager, who is not working the day I am in. Then I asked what time the doctor would be in for me to speak to her about my prescription and Josh’s unprofessional behavior, he proceeded to tell me that he did not know when the doctor would be in and give some long ridiculous reason. He then tried to convince me to come back tomorrow to speak with the doctor, which as it turns out is the day he is off.At the beginning of my last appointment I informed the doctor of the issues with my previous prescription, where every-time my prescription is set 1 click off and have to be remade. I made sure to go over the issues to ensure this didn’t happen again, but it ended up happening anyway.

I feel for the doctor there. Shes a sweet woman who works hard. However, her staff undermine her while she is mostly in her office. She deserves better. If you are of the area, the mentality of working there is These people have money. They arent there to fit you in a pair of glasses for your over all comfort.. or surely no interest in saving you money. Its a shame because its a nice office in a lovely area. I understand there was a great staff at one point but they are gone and the ones there will love to take your money for a ride.

I visited 4 shops looking for a specific frame and Custom Eye Care was going to be the last shop on my list in trying to rule in a particular purchase. When I called, the person on the phone was quite pleasant and informed me that Custom Eye Care carried Silhouette frames. She also gave a great description of their location at The Rim. I had a pair of Silhouettes years ago but it had been cost prohibitive to buy another pair. I was pleasantly suprised that not only did they carry the style but their price was way, way under every other shop I had visited. The personnel were warm, took their time and showed me all of the options fror different frames with different lens shapes. (Silhouettes allow for interchangable lens shapes.) I never felt rushed or like I was being up charged when deciding about progressive / regular bifocal lenses, coatings, etc. when figuring the cost of the lens and all of the various types of lenses and coatings available. The young man explained the various progressive lenses and the pros and cons of each. The out the door price for a top of the line lens and high end coatings was well within my budget. I had all but given up on being able to buy these frames again. I was measured and remeasured to insure the frames and lenses I wanted to purchase would fit my face shape and size. When the frames came in they placed dummy lenses in them and remeasured to get the best fit possible. These frames are hingeless and rimless. Super light and with the right lens seem to disapear on my face. PERFECT. Thank you to everyone at Custom Eye Care for providing me a great experience when I ordered the frames, when the lenses were custom ordered and when I picked them up. Having the option of remeasuring with my frames made all the difference. It was more work for them but well worth the extra trip to me. This is the only shop that has ever offered this extra step. My glasses are on my face from the time I wake up to the time I get ready for bed. It only makes sense that they are worth the effort. When people have commented about my frames I share Custom Eye Cares contact information with them via text.

After several years of struggling to see with the out-of-date prescription lenses in my Maui Jim sunglasses and rimless Silhouette eyewear, Im so fortunate and pleased to have found Custom Eye Care.Located in the Rim Shopping Center in northern San Antonio, TX., Custom Eye Care had the staff, experience and designer frames that my eyes and I needed. My near AND farsighted prescription requirements had previously led me to own two pairs of glasses, both of which I loved for their frame-style and appearance, but neither of which completely corrected my vision.Josh, my eye care professional at Custom Eye Care had the patience, experience and skills necessary to resolve my issues in an elegant, practical and affordable way. He spent time with me discussing my sensitivity to sunlight and glare, my challenges when viewing my cell phone vs. my laptop and computer vs. street signs when driving. He recommended “Workplace lenses” that I have immediately become comfortable with and that work very well as my eyes transition from my phone to my computer to the television. I called multiple places who said they did not take my insurance. Found out later they actually did just it falls under a third party. Custom Eye Care actually took the time to figure this out for me. Turns out I had really good coverage. Never worn glasses before but getting older and have bad astigmatism. The Dr. set me up with a script to see like I was young again and the staff took the time to go through which coatings/treatments for the lenses would work best for the needed use. I can honestly say I notice a big difference where needed. I could tell that everyone at Custom Eye Care really wanted me to be happy!

Customer care center has such a great team. From the doctor to the front desk, billing and eye glass fitting after your exam, everyone is so helpful and friendly. I highly recommend.

Was told my insurance was going to cover my contacts, the day came I needed to order them and turns out their employee completely misinformed me. The doctor spoke with me saying if they could “help” they would but that’s not true because if they truly wanted to help I’m sure they could’ve ordered my contacts and had me pay full price for them (over $200) when they arrived but no they wanted payment upfront to just order which I understand and was prepared to pay the price I was told it would be with insurance. Maria in the front was absolutely no help. They acknowledged their mistake but did nothing to rectify it and it seems to be a pattern with this office. If anything ever goes slightly sideways here good luck, customer service doesn’t seem to exist here.

Wouldnt go anywhere else. The team is very knowledgeable, and very patient - willing to answer all questions and certainly extremely helpful. They all pay attention to every detail, and go above and beyond.

Not a Patient yet! Walked in to see if they could help me with my glasses and even though they were busy they took the time to change out my nose pads. The staff was all real welcoming and friendly.

Where do i even start. My mom lives 45 minutes away and was referred here by my dad, but it’s safe to say that they won’t be going back, ever.The customer service is nonexistent. The first guy called my mom to go pick up her glasses and makes her drive 45 minutes away only to tell her that they’re chipped and need to be sent out again.She goes back a second time and it’s the SAME issue that they can’t get fixed so they send them out a second time.The third time is a charm, so they say. It’s over 3 weeks since they followed up w my mom. My mom had to do their job and follow up with them and they lie and say, “Oh I’m opening them right now, they just came in. Let me inspect them and call you back.” That call back was never made.The manager, Nicole, is a joke and when my mom went back for a THIRD time over a waiting period of a month and a half... she said that they’re slightly chipped on the edges, but it was the best they could do. She didn’t even apologize again for the HORRIBLE experience or offer to make any of it right. They even took us back to an exam room to try on the glasses rather than having her sit at the front desks where you would normally do this.This was truly the worst customer service that we have ever experienced.

Today was my first time at this office and right from the beginning it was wonderful.Every single staff member greeted me when I walked in. Everyone was in a great mood and pleasant throughout the entire visit. I will definitely be going back and referring people. 👍

I have been going to CUSTOM EYE CARE @ The Rim for many years. What keeps me coming back? First of all it is the professionalism and personal attention that I receive during each visit. Nicole and Dr Vlasak are especially attentive to my needs from picking out the most fashionable frames to suggesting which type of contact lens would work better for me.

This office is amazing. The doctor is super sweet, patient, and explains everything really well. She truly takes her time to make sure that you leave satisfied with the clearest vision. The staff is absolutley phenomenal. The front desk greets everyone with a smile and makes you feel welcomed. The doctors assistants are really friendly. And the opticians are great! The young man that helped me pick my glasses was great at explaining my prescritpion and styling me into the perfect pair of glasses. This office is great, and very professional.

I had an amazing experience, the staff were Phenomenal. The selection of glasses was great. I never had a pair of glasses sized for my head before, so no more pressure points above my ears. Also for prescription safety glasses you can’t beat them.

Worse experience ever!!! This is the first time I write a review. So this tells you a lot. My warranty on my glasses had expired 1 month and they were not willing to help me. Even though other offices would be more then happy to Help me out To keep me as a client. I left very disappointed. I left it alone and continued using my scratched glasses. 1 year later my glasses were in very bad shape that needed new lenses. Unfortunately my prescription expired and needed to get a new exam to get new lenses for my old frames. Got the exam but they didn’t asked me if I wanted to get the exam for lenses and contacts. They just examed my eyes for glasses. 1 month later my glasses broke and when I called the office to put an order for contacts they told me I would need to redo an exam for contacts. Basically charging 2 times!!! Plus whatever the contacts would cost. I begged and explained that, that was not told to me for the other options. I am extremely disappointed with this business. I’m only a money sign to them. They lost a customer and I will not refer them to anyone!!

After being a client for over 4 years I called to let the office know I would be running 15 minutes late because of a traffic accident. They told me not to come in and to reschedule which would have been fine if I were not going on an out of country trip for a week without contacts. I let them know I understood they had other clients and would be happy to wait for the scheduled appointments and explained why it was so important to come today. I have never been late or missed an appointment before. Disappointed that this office is not flexible for one of their long term clients. Will be taking my business elsewhere where I am not just a sales number.

I dont know what happened and of emergency previous user had, but does not sound like this office at all. There is not one single person at this office that doesnt give 100% or more to their customers. It is hands down the best optometry office I have been to in 40 plus years! They provide options and the individual decides. Very professional.

Worst experience getting new contacts ever! They tried to sell me on glasses the minute I went in for the exam, then they come up with a completely different prescription than I have had for the last 6 years! Lucky for them theres no difference since my eye sight is so close to perfect. Had to return two additional times for what feels like no reason. Got hung up on during one of my calls about their wacky procedures. Ive NEVER been told that the contact would hurt my eyes if it is too small! Even looked it up and theres no mention of that!! Every time I get contacts, even when I had changed brands it was only one trip! These people are a JOKE and I will NEVER return and hope no one else goes there because they seem like they just want to sell you on glasses!!!

Will not be going back. The doctor, in front of me, kept saying to the assistant that Im faking how blind I am. Never have I had to argue that I am, in fact, struggling to see. They also gave me the wrong Rx with a major misprint. 0/10 would recommend.

We always get excellent, thorough exams with the latest technology and equipment. Dr. Vlasak’s TEAM is always so pleasant and knowledgeable! I am a health care provider myself and if any of my patients ask for a recommendation of an optometrist, I always tell them to go to Dr. Vlasak and her TEAM!

I love this place!! Doctor V is awesome!! I’ve been seeing her since she was at the Austin hwy location (in Walmart) this has been for several years now.

Extremely disappointed in service. Once promised me some CUSTOM work I had oullined on some new eyeglases but when I went back to buy the glasses & to get the work done, they said they couldnt do it. It was the same ole Cookie-Cutter business as all the rest.
