Had a great experience at the office of Dr. Robert Howard. I needed glasses before starting my new job next week. The staff helped get my insurance approved and got me in the next day. Dr. Howard is friendly and does a great job on the eye exam. Best yet-I was able to get my glasses the same day. Cost me only the amount of my deductible and was overall an easy and professional set up from start to finish. Definitely will be going back.

I had an eye examination on December 9, 2018 for glasses and contacts. Despite telling Dr. Howard I was happy with my current contact lenses brand and wanted to stick with it he prescribed a brand I had never heard of. He gave me a 1 week supply (they are daily disposable) and told me to come back in a week for a follow up. I came back a week later and the contacts had been comfortable but not anymore than my usual brand. I ordered a 3 month supply from them. When I needed to order another 3 month supply this brand was nowhere to be found online. I had no choice but to order them from Dr. Howards office and go pick them up once they were shipped there. Strike one.About 5 months later I called the office to tell them I wanted to buy new glasses and that I had misplaced the Rx. I clearly stated to please send me copies of the contact lenses and glasses Rx. The lady at the front desk acted as if I was really putting her out and asking for an unusual, burdensome favor. Apparently they do not have a fax machine and could only mail them. What kind of medical practice does not have a fax machine? It seems convenient that they are unable to instantly send you copies of your Rx. Over 2 weeks later they had not arrived in the mail so I called back to confirm they were mailing them to me and was treated as if this was the first time I had requested copies. I finally got only the contact lenses Rx and not the glasses Rx which was specifically the one I had asked for. I had to go through this process again. I understand mistakes happen and this wouldn’t have been a big deal if the woman wasn’t so rude each time I requested and followed up. When I finally had both of them I noticed that the contact lenses Rx said exam date 5/14/2018 and expiration date: 12/15/2018 and print date: 5/14/2018. The glasses Rx said exam date: 12/09/2017, expiration date 12/09/2018, print date 05/17/2018. Strike two.I called today (4/25/2019) to confirm which was the correct expiration date and was told since the exam was on 12/2018 that both Rx were expired. I mentioned that I was under the impression that glasses Rx were good for 2 years and contacts 1 year. I was told that its up to the doctor to decide between 1 or 2 years. Im 35 and my Rx has not changed for at least 8 years so why such short and clearly incorrect dates that do not even match? Strike three.

When it comes to my eyes, I always want the best care. The office of Eye Care Plus gave me just that. I called on a Friday and was able to get in for my exam the next day. I was welcomed into the office by friendly assistants and the doctor gave me a very thorough exam. He has very high technology equipment so I felt the accuracy of my prescription was on point! The optician showed me a Great selection of frames that were right for my face shape and I was able to have them made while I waited in about an hour! Wow! I am very pleased with the service and prices at Eye Care Plus and will def recommend this office to my friends.

I had such a great experience at Eye Care Plus that I felt I had to share the details. I have been going to this office for my eye exams for 3 years, but this was the first time I actually needed to get glasses for computer work. I love that this office has a big parking lot right outside the front door so right from the start its a big plus. I am always greeted by a friendly staff and the check in process is quick and painless. Dr. Howard knows his stuff and his exam is high tech and precise. I also like that he asks me about my day to day-- what I do at work and play so he knows exactly what kind of glasses I needed. His optician then helped me pick some glasses that look great on me (compliments daily) and they made them for me the same day!! What?!?!?! Highly recommend Eye Care Plus!

My experience at EyeCare Plus with Dr. Robert M. Howard was the worst eye care experience my husband and I have ever had despite each having worn glasses for more than 20 years. My husband and I went to get our eyes checked on late last month. My husband had his vision checked for glasses, while I also had a contact fitting. My husband wears glasses full time and used the prescription provided by Dr. Howard to order glasses from another retailer whose frames he preferred. When the glasses arrived however the prescription was extremely uncomfortable. After confirming with the retailer that the glasses indeed had the prescription prescribed by Dr. Howard, we scheduled a recheck with Dr. Howard to confirm the prescription. When I called to make this appointment I told them that we were ordering the glasses elsewhere, and they assured me the recheck appointment would be free of charge. At the recheck, Dr. Howard said the original prescription was correct and then proceeded to charge him a $45 fee, and said that we had been misinformed. My husband went to another optometrist for an appointment and was given a different prescription, that is in fact correct and he is now happy with the new glasses. It is troubling that Dr. Howard could give the wrong prescription in the first place, but to be unwilling to change it when a patient finds it to be unwearable due to the discomfort, and then charge a fee despite being told the appoint would be free, is very disturbing and insulting. My prescription seemed to be fine, but when I went to order contacts from another vendor, Dr. Howard’s office called and said I had to come back in for another fitting. Although I had told Dr. Howard at my appointment that I was going to order Acuvue contact lenses, he did not fit me for those, would not give my my contact prescription as required to by law, and stated I would have to come back in. I scheduled an appointment to refit the contact lenses at 11:30am on the coming Saturday, so I could have contacts delivered as soon as possible. On the day of my appointment, at 9:45am, less than 2 hours before my appointment, Dr. Howard’s office called to cancel my appointment, since I had mentioned we were unhappy with our previous experience. This is not only inconvenient; it’s unprofessional to cancel an appointment with this short of a notice. I now need to find another optometrist as soon as possible so as to not run out of contacts. Please do not go to Dr. Howard at Eye Care Plus, his practice is unprofessional, subpar, and dishonest.

I am new to San Diego and needed to get new glasses so I looked up places close to my work with designer brands and came across Eyecare Plus, they got me an appointment the next day. I was so excited until I walked into the store and was ignored, super rude staff and lazzzzzy. The doctor was extremly nice and I feel bad that he has such rude employees. Not only were they rude to me but just about everyone who came in, it was like we were a burden to them and so short with everyone. It also took over a week to get my glasses (after them saying only 1-2 days) and then they were the wrong perscription and they were rude about that like I was lying I couldnt see! They ordered me the new pair and its now been over 2 weeks and still no glasses. I have never been more disapointed in an Optometrist in all my life.

My glasses broke within two months. When I send them back they said they might be under warranty or might not? Who does that: Works with a company theyre not sure whether it warranties the product or not?
