This place helped me right away (I just had to wait patiently while he helped the guy ahead of me. Not long) after calling many other places (Kudos to Warm Planet bikes who recommended them because Warm Planet was temporarily closed). My chain broke on the way to work and I really depend on my bike to get to work. He not only fixed my chain but also made some adjustments and my bike is working way better now, like new. it was a nominal, very reasonable charge, well worth it. I wish I caught the guys name. If youre reading this Mr. Bike Fixer, I was just there (8/23/21, about 12:30ish). Thank you!!!!
Extremely unfriendly!I was going to happily spend my money here. I was inquiring about a specific type of bicycle. The guy was so deeply unfriendly, I’ll never return here again. There’s plenty of bicycle shops around, definitely do your research before settling!
I cant believe someone rated this place one star...ESPECIALLY DURING THE PANDEMIC. People are all on edge and we need to understand that these are not normal circumstances. John attended me super well and left me with my 40+ year old bike feeling brand new. I live in the neighborhood and Im so glad this place is here. Also, the prices are super reasonable. I went to a bike shop to get my bike fixed in Eugene, Oregon and they actually charged me more there for a similar service than the service that I got here.
Excellent local bike shop.Friendly, bike-savvy staff, especially Matt.As a bonus, theyll keep an eye on your bike if you have to do business at the SFMTA. Consider having some cash on hand to tip the staff if you use this invaluable service. A $5 tip is well worth having your bike in one piece -- far from a guarantee when you lock it up on Van Ness and Market . . . .
Market street cycles is friendly, communicative, and incredibly helpful. They promptly fixed my bike on multiple occasions. This is a SF gem!
A truly awesome shop at an awesome price. My derailer had been seriously misaligned, and they were able to take me in the day I called with no appointment! My shifting is perfect now. So thankful! This will be my new regular go-to shop :)
Highly recommend this bike shop. I needed some repairs and they were efficient, friendly and reasonable. Will be taking my bikes there from now on.
Ive stopped into this shop on a few random occasions, and Ive always been pleased with the awesome service. My main bike shop is a bit out of the way, so Ive been here for supplies, a flat, and even a car collision. The team here is knowledgeable, the store has everything you need (or theyre happy to order it), and most importantly for me, everyone is friendly—even the other customers youll encounter in the store. A couple of months ago, I had a service issue at this shop, and the focus put on resolving my issue honestly made my day. I appreciate that this is a small business, and even with what must be tight margins, theyre more than willing to make the right decisions towards ensuring a great experience & rightfully loyal customers. Im not at all exaggerating when I say that I was highly impressed by the service. Thank you!
This shop is great—great prices and the people are super helpful! As someone new to biking in the city, John made sure I was comfortable with the bike, lock system, and lights I was buying and answered all my questions. Highly recommend this shop!
I bought a e bike online had trouble putting it together called a number of bike shop none would help me unless I had bought from them not market st cycles they told me to bring it in and they did it very reasonable price best bike shop in san fran If your bike needs fixed take it to them they are best in San fran
I walked in off the street an hour or so ago. I’d never been here before, but I’d spoken to a guy over the phone there a few weeks ago. He seemed cool and helpful. That’s not the “guy” that I spoke to today. As you enter the store front, there’s a stop sign due to Coronavirus precautions. So I stopped there and asked could I proceed and look at their bike selection. The one guy who was fixing a bike for (I’m assuming) the only other customer in the store at the time, told me ‘they’re only allowing one person in store at a time right now’. The customer was sitting behind me and over to my right; he and I were more than 6ft apart. From where I stood beyond the stop sign in store to the counter where the two associates are located had to be about 15ft. I could have reasonably been allowed to come closer to the bike that caught my eye without endangering anyone health wise. The second associate, who’s bald, did ask what I was looking for and told me about the bike that caught my eye. No one introduced themselves, or asked my name, or anything that would make you feel valued as a potential customer... Ultimately, I just didn’t feel welcomed to be there; as if the guy fixing the bike just really wanted me to leave. At least when I walked out, I heard someone say, “have a nice day”. I think that was the bald guy because at least he told me about the one bike instead of just kicking me out like the curly headed guy fixing the bike tried to do. That’s worth at least one star, right? In response to your response,Even in times of crisis such as these, YOU STILL SHOULD MAKE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOUR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS FEEL WELCOMED AS A PATRON. You guys didn’t even try, John. It’ll be ok, though. I will just go somewhere else and deal with another bike shop where they’ll at least act like I matter as a potential customer. Maybe instead of assuming someone will get you sick, especially when you see them taking all the required steps NOT to do so, you should just treat them as you’d want to be treated. You know, just imagine you’re in a new city, in a totally new environment and you humble yourself to walk into a place and go to ask a total stranger for help.... Next time, maybe lead with that. Just so you know, getting you guys sick would have been the furthest thing from my intentions. I just could have really used your help. You’ve helped me, though. You’ve told me to go somewhere else. I will. Thanks, John.
Honest, no-nonsense staff who do great work and charge a fair price. I had a chain and cassette replacement done here and I am very pleased with how much smoother my bike rides afterwards. The shop also carries a great selection of accessories and bikes to suit different riding styles. This is my go-to shop and I cant recommend them highly enough.
Matt is quite literally the best and has a no BS approach to business. I highly recommend this shop and will continue to come here myself until I leave SF. Trust, you wont regret it.
Thanks for giving my temperamental tubeless setup the air it needed! Will come by again when I/my odd bike have work for you!
Fixed my flat in a pinch, but it was flat again the next day! I work nights and after getting off of night shift, my back tire was completely flat. I was thrilled to find a shop open at 7am. The guy working was efficient, but not extremely friendly. However, he got me out the door in no time! However, the next day my tire was completely flat again. Pretty disappointed, but hope it was a one-off.
The mechanics get right to the point, and charge super reasonable prices. They are transparent with what they are going to do and charge and knowledgeable about any questions you may have. I was between two locks and was advised the cheaper when I explained my use case. Super honest and kind staff
Fast, professional and honest service. Highly recommended!
Got a flat tire on my way into work and luckily Market Street Cycles was open early and able to replace my tube in 10 min. Great service!
Market Street Cycles are honest, no nonsense in their approach and overall really want to help you in keeping your bike in good condition. They open early which is convenient and provide a solid customer service platform. I would recommend with confidence that if you need your bike repaired or maintained this place is on point.
Really great people. They were really nice and helpful when I was looking for a bike, and after purchasing it they were very detailed oriented in ensuring that it fit and built correctly.
Best bike shop Ive every worked with! My bike feels so good after a tuneup here. Super helpful staff. Highly recommended!
Always happy to advise on everything bike related. When I need a tune up they make an appointment, prompt and are fairly priced.I saw today one of the guys helping out a wheelchair bound, and I presume of no fixed abode, man on the street outside who looked like he had a wheel issue.Customer for life here now guys : )
I crashed my Bianchi pretty badly and were able to get new parts and put it back together. My bike feels like new again, if not better. The tape job is perfect, a lot better than the original or the replacement I had made elsewhere. I seriously recommend their services, worth every penny!
Cycle toured from Vancouver and needed a box for my bike to fly back and these guys happily handed one over gratis. Very friendly and super willing to help out a fellow cyclist. Will be back to visit and do business when Im next in the city.
You know how a lot of bike shops can feel intimidating, dismissive or a little too cool? Market Street Cycles is the opposite. Super friendly. Super patient and accommodating. I love this place.
These guys were so generous in helping me out on my recent visit to San Francisco. I cant recommend them highly enough. Thank you so much!
Quite possibly the best bicycle mechanics in San Francisco. Fair prices and great atmosphere.
Very impressed with the service from this shop. I needed my bike boxed up and shipped internationally. Lots of delays with the shipping company followed, and Market Street kept me in the loop the whole time as if the bike was their own.On top of all that they charged the lowest price I could find for boxing a bike.
I was involved in a small accident trying to help a stranger who had his phone snatched that ruined my bike breaks, Market Street Cycle did an amazing job fixing my breaks and gave me a discount which they didn’t have to do. They are amazing!
Awesome experience every time I go in. The two fellas that I see in here are super knowledgeable and friendly. They helped me out with a brand new drivetrain and couldnt be happier with the service. They charged me a bit less than I was expecting.would bang.
Really great service - highly recommend! dropped off my bike for some unexpected problems, and new parts were added quickly and for a fair price.
These guys are awesome very friendly professional. One time someone stole my bike lock and they allowed me to borrow one temporarily
Good peeps work here---helpful! Their repair charges are reasonable as well.
My favorite shop in the area for service. Friendly capable folks.
Friendly staff, great options and reasonable price.
The best bike shop Ive ever been
Nice mechanic, was very helpful when I came in with a flat on my road bike.
Good advice on bike lock. Did not try to sell more expensive item.
Friendly, competent, fast, to the point staff and reasonably priced service.
Family owned small business. Very helpful staff.
Not a big spot but super helpful and knowledgeable workers.
Is there a way to rate 0 stars? What a terrible experience I had, the front desk attendant was extremely rude and did nothing to help while he kept complaining about how much my bike was damaged. I ended up quitting on his service and left. I hope no one goes to this store because places like that definitely dont deserve our business.
Great little shop with friendly staff!
I didnt buy anything, was looking for a Bianchi in my size, they have a small selection of bikes, accessories are more unique I like that prices are good as well. I went with a Trek Bike.
Great service!
Best shop in the city!
Only expert mechanics work here.
