Helped out by a new guy that seems pretty new. He was quite nice. I didnt want to make a big deal or get the new guy in trouble. After I wheeled the bike out, I found some scratches on the crank. This is very likely caused by bike pedals being changed out. Theyre cosmetic scratches so I was not super bothered about them. Im more bothered by the shops reaction when I brought this up to them.I wheeled it back in, and flagged this to another guy. He then turned into defensive mode, saying that:1) Itll cost me a lot more to fix the scratch, implying that *I* have to pay to fix a scratch on a brand-new bike caused by the bike shop.2) Started a speech that bikes will always end up scratched, and never stay pristine. Obviously I expect that bikes will get dinged *over time*. But is it unreasonable to expect a new bike to come unsratched?3) The manager then offered to give me a refund. Basically the point is that theres nothing that they can, or *want* to do. My take - bikes are in such shortage, they can easily resell a scratched up bike to someone else at the same price.Im happy that I got the bike, and is lucky to find one. But if there is no shortage, Ill probably not buy another bike from this store.
Knowledge, helpful, and nice. Rode / drove out of my way to grab a rental here and was well worth the detour. Highly recommended for all cycling needs
Moved to the area a year ago and this is closest shop to me. Previous LBS the general expectation is short answers and long waits. Guys working here are excellent. The shop has helped me out twice on pretty short notice. Super helpful on the phone before I dropped down trying to get me straightened out. Mechanic was great in the shop and explained what was up. The shop is big with a pretty good selection of gear. Price on services was lower than I expected.
Pro level service for any bike. I came in to have my 15 year old Trek Madone bike worked on. The service was excellent and Fred and his crew were patient in answering questions and going over options. I loved the advice/service and went back to browse the store in more depth and got to see quite a range of bikes from electric to road to casual. While I wasn’t looking to buy a new bike as they’d just fixed my old one, I was curious about what’s out there and asked a lot of questions about the range of bikes they have. In the end, I did end up buying a new bike. The fact that they are detail oriented, great listeners and informative (without being biased) helped me make a confident decision in a relatively big investment. The bike set up was also complex and required multiple trials to find the right fit for me but Fred and his team were always patient and willing to try different set ups. The most important factors for me were their patience and expertise, I wouldn’t have bought a new bike of this nature if I didn’t feel confident in their post purchase support. All star service all around and they also happen to be in a great neighborhood for testing out a bike if you’re in the market for a new ride. Side note: I also saw several riders come in with basic service needs like flat tires... again, they treated everyone wonderfully and offered a high level of service whether the bikes were newer or older — as I had experienced in bringing a 15 year old bike for service here initially.
I have been coming to the shop for over 2 years and it’s it by far my favorite bike shop in the city. The quality of service is amazing and the staff is incredible. The only place I will ever take my bikes in the city.
I was about to purchase a $14 bell when the desk clerk up-sold me to a made-local one. He did not mention the cost was $49-59 for the other item and the price was not posted. My fault for not asking, but I wasnt expecting to get scammed so hard. The other clerk also was somewhat insulting when I asked a simple question about bike locks. No plan to go back.
Absolutely horrible and very DANGEROUS service they provide, and they have no knowledge of what they actually sell. They sold SWorks Vias Handle bar saying it would fit my Sworks Tarmac. Brought the bike on Saturday and was promised the bike would be ready on Tuesday. Thats fine I understand they are busy. Tuesday afternoon I called and asked what time I should head over to pick up, and they said they havent even started and will get to it when they feel like it. Their actual words were It really depends on how busy we are and how many walk ins we would have today. Not sure when we will get to it... Wow, ok. Called before they close and they said they are not going to finish today. After 2 days picked up my bike and they taped my handlebar uneven and looked weirdWent on a ride the following day to a hill near my place and while I was coming down the hill, my handlebar tilted forward almost had me falling. If I was doing 30 to 40 mph, I wouldnt have time to react. THATS VERY DANGEROUS. Called the shop and asked what they did to my bike and wanted to see if there was anything I could do to fix it simply, but they said Ughh, just bring it over and Ill checkWent to the shop in the afternoon, the guy said I fixed it and brought it back out after few minutes, and I put some pressure on it and it tilts again. Apparently, you have to have Venge stem for these handlebars, and they all had no clue about it. Apparently they are Specialized certified bike shop.So I had to return the handlebar and they tried to charge me for the use of handlebar. Well they did charge me over $200 for the tape because they had to replace my tape. Disastrous place.!!!
Good range of bicycles, good advise, good service
Horrible pretentious service. The staffs arrogance is out of this world.
Went there to have my bike checked, but no response from anyone in the shop. Stood there couple of minutes looking like a person who is lost and left. Very arrogant and condescending people.
This place is a godsend. I recently got into cycling after moving to SF a few months ago, and my bike has been through hell and back already. Ive taken my bike to Velocipede a few times for a tune up, handlebar replacement, wheel truing, and derailleur hanger adjustment The prices are reasonable and the service is top-notch and fast.
Disappointing and elitist customer service. Bought some accessories (helmet and pump) and asked about their e-bikes - we were told without any preamble to look online instead for cheaper options. He did not seem at all interested in selling us a bike even though we wanted to buy one and support our local community shops. Very odd and unfriendly experience.
My bottom bracket was having issues and I was pretty sure it needed to be replaced. The senior mechanic came over, basically made fun of my intro level shimano groupset and said I need to upgrade everything to something more stiff to fix the issues. $$$I went to The Bike Kitchen in Mission and replaced the bottom bracket and everything else was fine. Problem solved for a fraction of the price without any ridicule involved.Only reason I gave another start is because the girl at the front let me use some simple tools to adjust my brakes and racks during the 30 min wait.
Someone recommended me this place so I decided to check it out with intentions to buy a bike. Unfortunately, WE WERE NEVER GREETED OR FELT WELCOME BY THE OWNER, Fred! I even thought that the nice guy that was busy fixing the bikes was the owner because he was the only one that took time to ask what I need it. It seem to me that Fred has enough customers. So IM NOT GOING BACK!
Picked up a Diverge and some new wheels here. Helpful staff.
Great bike shop, great people working there very helpful and friendly!!
It took the shop a while to get my bike repaired and tuned up. But the work David did is really excellent.
Richard and Rob are awesome. Support them during COVID and give them your business, they deserve it.
Great choice of e-bikes and wonderful service. Fred has been incredibly helpful with my two bikes, none of which I purchased from him, but that he nonetheless helped me fix a few things on, including one time where he saved me on the spot for an unbeatable price with a missing part of my GSD (thank you Fred!). Yesterday I picked up my beloved Crux on which Fred and his team did an amazing tune up, the bike rides like new again... I found my new bike shop!!
Came in with an emergency repair, the guys there helped me out right away at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend
Please excuse my first review. No intention at all to leave a single star, not sure how that happened.I visited Velocipede a couple of months ago and Fred was so extremely helpful. His service deserves beyond 5 stars, no exaggeration!!He was able to answer all of my questions and brought out a couple of electric bikes to demo. Definitely recommend for all of your bike needs.
Great humans. I’ve been going there for a couple years for upgrades, fixes, tune-ups, etc, and it feels like home. Everyone is down to earth, and loves cycling, no pretentious people here.
The folks at Velocipede are super professional, friendly, welcoming, and timely. Ive taken two of my bikes in for servicing and they always make sure to double check on pricing before doing any work on the bikes. Best shop!
Very knowledgeable staff and reasonably priced service. They do many custom builds and can help you get exactly the bike you want. They gave me an estimate before the work and were prompt and professional.
Best place on town and very fast and friendly service
There’s a bike shop literally three blocks from my place but i choose to bike almost 35 min to velocipede because these guys rock. The atmosphere is very relaxed and there’s no pressure...just guys that love what they do and are as stoked as you are. They will genuinely help you whatever your passion. Wherever you are in the city - it’s worth it to come here. Daniel and Rico are amazing.
This is a one of a kind bike shop! The staff is super nice and very friendly. The space itself is a visual experience alone, even if your not a bike person. They said they had only been open a few weeks, but it seemed like they hadeverything dialed already. This is the the type of experience I want every time when I shop retail! I will be back again and again.. You can t get this level of service or vibe online.....
Bikes galore, I never knew there were so many different types of bikes. Everything from tandems, specialty bikes to electric bikes. You have to see for yourself. The guys are knowledgeable friendly and there to help you with what ever you need for your bike.
Love this bike shop. They are super kind and helpful. You can hang out there too with your coffee, laptop, etc. its a little bit of community everyday. Great selection too.
Great Bicycle Shoppe! Stumbled in while treading through the neighborhood, have been considering buying a bike and thought, why not? I was greeted warmly by Christian, an enthusiastic and highly knowledgeable associate who walked me through some of the highlights of the newest Bicycles by Specialized. His knowledge of content was extraordinary and he was happy to answer all my questions. Unfortunately, I didnt have enough time for a test ride today, but trust and believe when I say, this is a very nice, low pressure store that makes you want to buy a new bike. High quality machines, excellent customer service, and a positive vibe for all who enter, this Shoppe is sure to last a long time. Did I mention free tune ups for the first year, and I bet you can even convince Christian to give you some insider tips and techniques to make your riding experience that much sweeter! Clearly a great choice for all your cycling needs. Check it out, you wont be sorry!
Great experiences with this shop. Lots of knowledge, excellent customer service, friendly and approachable. Plus, its just somewhere you want to hang out. Check it out, you wont be disappointed.
These guys are the very nice, honest and knowledgeable. I have been there a few times, for flats, tires, a lock and advice on a system for switching gears. They always explained things in detail. The other day I needed a repair on my kitesurfing foil. The mast was stuck on the fuselage. I had taken it to a kitesurfing shop that kept it for a weekend and then told me they did not want to work on it. The velocipede guys took on the challenge and succeeded. And they even did it without breaking my mast which I did not expect them to.5 stars, take your bike to them.
This place made me fall in love with biking all over again. Had not been on a bike since my cruiser got stolen decades ago. These folks will treat you with kindness and respect no matter what your skill level. And they will tune your bike to fit you in every possible way. I went there to check out some cool recumbent trikes, but ended up buying a Specialized Roll -- unlike any other bike out there. The store feels the same way -- unique. Plans are underway to make the shop even more fun and interesting. Velocipede is definitely worth a trip to Dogpatch.
Very kind, knowledgeable staff. Great atmosphere. Awesome place to bring your bike for work.
Ill admit that i am not very knowledgeable about cycling. I have never had a bike over $120. When I decided to move and commute to work on a bike, i bought one online after reading reviews as one does. When I received it, I realized I was out of my element. These guys put it together and gave me some really valuable information about how to ride it. I will be coming here for 100% of my biking needs from now on. Super friendly and helpful, I couldnt see myself going anywhere else!
Always amazing people and super helpful.
Employees very knowledgeable and helpful
Was out riding and got a flat near this store, so dropped in. They did the fix very quickly and pleasantly. Also bought a spare tube and air cartridges and the full price for everything was reasonable compared to other full service bike shops.
Currently waiting 20 minutes for the manager to get off the phone to discuss a refund. No end in site. Feels like hes avoiding me. They sold me a 2015 model blix as new without making it clear how old it was. My bad for not googling first, but I trusted their advice.
These guys rock. Built out my one bike quiver equipped with a monster cassette and a derailer hanger they had to specialty order. The wheel feels amazing and the franken bike shifts like a dream. Couldnt be more stoked. They also are great about ordering whatever you want from their suppliers and are super nice and have great customer service.
Friendly staff that are super knowledgeable. They fixed my bike very quickly!
Fred and crew are great! Super friendly and always looking to help customers find what they are looking for.
Moved to San Francisco almost 2 years ago and got my new bike at Velocipede. The staff was extremely helpful getting me set up and every time I needed help I found they were very knowledgable and friendly.
These guys did an awesome job servicing my daily commuter bike. Highly recommended.
Super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, lots of equipment and gear options, and they do great work on repairs and cleaning.
The employees weren’t that hip or enthusiastic....
Top notch customer service and a deep level of experience make this a top tier cycle shop in SF. Strongly recommended.
Very knowledgeable. No B.S.
Super friendly and helpful! Service was prompt and the gave me tips for biking in the big city!
Great service. Very fast turn around on our repairs.
Good service and really friendly people.
Great place with super friendly staff. I was looking for a helmet and they helped me find exactly what I was looking for.
I am very fortunate to stumble upon velocipede. I found my dreambike! The guys where very helpfull and patient with my questions and needs. I felt like to talking to friends rather than salesmen. I learned many things about cycling and I gained a whole new perspective on the sport.
Bought a spoke and an inner tube. Friendly/neighborly.
I was helped quickly and efficiently by a knowledgeable and helpful staff. This place has my highest recommendation.
Very knowledgeable.
These guys consistently go above and beyond to serve customers. The best bike shop Ive been to.
Great shop, friendly staff and great repairs.
Had a last minute end of day crisis: my pedal broke mid-stride and was on a commute home. took em about 15 minutes to fix.
Professional service and quality products! I’m a bicycle fanatic and these guys are my go to for everything bicycle related.
Very friendly humans, a huge selection, and they do ebikes and rentals. Did I mention friendly humans?!
Great store
Walked around the store for 20 minutes without being asked for help once.
Fixed my flat tire in a jiffy for $25
Came in with a flat and they sold me the tools. What more can you ask?
Great service.
They had what i needed.
Awesome place!!!
