Found the bike of my dreams at this shop, a 1971 vintage Raleigh international which just happened to fit me perfectly. While there I bought a seat bag for a extremely reasonable $5 from a box that had another sb and a frame mounted bag. Got home to Reseda and realized I should have bought the other 2, the green frame bag actually matched the bike. The folks at Bici Centro actually packed and mailed them to my house without having even received payment. Great crew, good vibe, would highly recommend!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! Waited like 45 minutes while the staff proceeded to help there preferred gender and race, then was asked if my family needed any help sitting outside on there wooden dock, like we were talking up space. Then was over charged for some old beach cruiser rims. If you’re white and a woman you should have no problem, anyone else, prepare to feel discriminated!!!!

I brought my bike in to repair and ending up fixing a whole assortment of issues I didnt know exist. Just bring it in and its $5/hour to learn from the tech. Love the bike education concept and self-service with help. One of my favorite things about Santa Barbara is this bike community and how much resources they provide to the SB community. Keep it up!

I am reviewing based on customer service and pricing. They arent very friendly. I went in search of a bike to donate to someone in need. Found one in reasonably good condition for $350. I looked it up and found the same one, new, on Amazon for 199.00 with free shipping. They wouldnt even bring it down $50 before i found the cheaper one and before we left, he slapped on a price of $420. The bike was overpriced to begin with and the next person was still going to pay more than they originally offered it for. Unfortunately for them they lost out on $300. I had to wait 2 days for shipping but saved $150 in the interim and the boy who needed the bike got a brand new one. Everything happens for a reason.I hear they are good for repairs though, i cant speak on that.

This place is fantastic. For $5 an hour I rented a stand and tool box and received real expert help. No one else wanted to work on my classic mountain bike and now it shifts like brand new. Everyone is friendly and seems to have a real love for bicycling.

Awesome bike co-op. The most helpful staff of any bike shop in Santa Barbara, and really the only place to find random parts for older bikes. Most of their parts are used, but they have a fair number of new parts, too. Most of the used parts are incredibly inexpensive. These guys have saved my old road bike more than once!

This place was amazing! I just went in for some supplies this time (cupholder, bell, etc) and the service was excellent. Not only were supplies inexpensive, but they also showed me how to put everything on my bike. When my bike needs some service I will definitely be back!

Friendly staff, however lacking knowledgeable application/install of bike chain. Improperly advised and installed.Came in with a new chain and master-link. Employee didn’t use master-link or new pin. He broke half off an outer link forcefully. Chain installed on bike reinserting old or unjointed pin. One day passed with very light use, new chain busted, and I got hurt.Should suffice for a temporary repair, however this was a new chain and install. Please inform employees not to apply and advise potentially dangerous installs of bike chains.Called to explain situation and hoped for proper install of chain, but was denied rectification of coming in, to reapply chain. The best Bici offered was volunteer time to get ‘free time’ to fix my issue.Employee (A..x) you’re kind, however your work could have caused me, my well-being. If you didn’t know how to do it, I would have happily waited for a more senior employee or come back another day.A few bruises and scrapes, along with a broken chain is what I get. Let down, live and learn.

Not a regular bike shop. Instead, its the place to go if you want to learn how to work on your bike yourself. ...or if you already know how to work on your bike, but you need to borrow a special tool ...or if you want cheap used parts or a used bike thats ready to ride (rather than ready to fall apart). Many of the folks working there are volunteers. Ive always found them to be friendly and helpful. Many of the negative reviews here seem to be from people expecting Bici Centro to function like a regular bike shop. Theres some overlap, but thats not what it is. To me, its something better!

I love a lot of things about Santa Barbara and Bici Centro ranks among the top. Theyve come such a long way since starting out and have provided tremendous value to our community all along the way via therir educational programs. This is more than a bike shop, and less. You can buy rebuilt bikes here or become a volunteer and learn how to rebuild them. Or sign up to take a class or series of classes to learn about keeping up your ride, taught by pro mechanic. Anyone can come in during open shop hours and have friendly volunteers provide help and advice you need for fixing or upgrading your two wheeler. Capable myself of basic repairs, I find it more fun to do them at Bici Centro among friendly people and with bike stand and all tools close at hand, for just an hourly shop fee (about $5/hr). Cheap used parts can be rummaged through and a basic selection of new parts for sale. A nonprofit to use and support!

A friend lended me an old bike that needed to be repaired. I went first to a bike shop where a nice man told me it would cost me 130$. That was too expensive for me, but here, at Bici Centro, the staff taught me how to do it myself and helped me to do it within 2h. It was an amazing experience. I learnt so much thanks to the very kind volunteers ! And they only charged me 7$. I am really thankful.

Very bad Bici Centro 👎 to make public and more in the press the prices of high-end bicycles, this puts us in danger on public roads, opens the eyes of those who are unaware of the world of cycling and are only waiting for an opportunity to remove it. that the other with sacrifice has obtained.
