My second time ordering and I received a cold sausage biscuit. I even asked if they could pleaseMake sure it wasn’t cold and they took the time to foil up a cold sausage biscuit..makes no sense. Will utilize other breakfast options moving forward.
The do great taco and bacon. Great ice coffee..
I’m being generous by giving them 3 stars; I came for the first time today, drive thru, had the large jalapeño kolaches, which where fresh, I’m not complaining about the food; but the teenager girl with glasses seemed to be bothered by working there or whatever, I assume she had a bad day.On the other hand, her hair was full of dandruff, which.... WEAR A HAIRNET OR A HAT FOR GOD SAKES; her and the other lady had no uniforms, which was also confusing, and she forgot to give me my donut 🍩I guess I’ll try the donuts next time I come.My kolaches where great though so I will be back for sure (Missing two stars because of employee hygiene)Hope next time someone else takes my order 😬🤦♂️😂
Made it over to Southern Maid Donuts (3440 Riley Fuzzel Rd, Spring, TX 77386) this morning to try the huge breakfast tacos that I have read about. Compared to other breakfast tacos in the area, it is definitely larger and heftier. It’s about 6.5” long and 1.5” round. It’s basically a small breakfast burrito in terms of size.I tried the potato, sausage, egg, and cheese cheese taco. The tortilla does not seem to be made in-house, so I am always a bit disappointed when I see those. The eggs were light and fluffy which was a bit surprising. Most if not all the breakfast tacos that I have tried recently have the eggs a bit over cooked, so it’s uncommin to find them light and fluffy. The breakfast sausage used is a bit different. It lacked the distinct flavor of breakfast sausages that you get from anywhere really such as fast food chains or even the grocery stores. Maybe it’s made in-house. It’s not terrible, just unexpected. The potatoes were cooked all the way through but not crispy on the outside. I feel like potatoes in a breakfast taco need to be crispy. Yes, I understand that crispy potatoes lose that crisp crunch after being wrapped in the rest of the ingredients, but for whatever the reason, it makes the taco more delicious for me.The staff is great. Very pleasant to work with and even mentioned the free donut deal. I also love how clean the restaurant appeared. It’s always comforting to see a clean establishment. The 3 item kolaches in the display look huge! I may try them next time. I am curious if it mainly bread or filling. The tacos are $3.49, so you will be paying about $3.79 after tax. It’s priced higher than other breakfast taco offerings in the area, but it’s also a lot bigger. Overall, it’s a decent taco. I am not sure if you can eat two, but you can always try.
They can be a bit slow serving but they have some of the best kolaches Ive ever had. Specifically the boudin kolaches. The tacos are also worth the price and the drive if you dont live close.
Staff is great, always happy. Donuts are also amazing. The only reason I say 4 Start is because, the past two times I have gotten a Kolache the dough has been under cooked and kind of soggy. But other than that, its amazing.
Poor customer service! They advertise theyre open until 1pm but most days they shut down the grill prior to 12 so you cant get the tacos which is very disappointing especially when you wait 15 minutes in the drive thru. Dont try to get your food faster inside, they prioritize the drive thru and will leave you waiting even longer. If/when you get the tacos, they are very delicious!Update 7.25.21 - Downgrade to one star. Again I love the breakfast tacos here and come before 12 so the grill isnt shut down already. Now employees are shutting down the grill well prior to 12pm. I get it, employees dont want to be working late cleaning up but well over an hour early is a bit much in my opinion. This shows a real lack of customer focus and poor management in my opinion.
Arrived in the drive through line and it took 23 min to help the 3 cars ahead of me . I had plenty of time to watch the young blond lady have her mask down the entire time . It was not just like it had slip down it was down for 23 min . It was interesting she would open the donut bags close to her uncovered face. She was wearing her mask so poorly I could see she had extremely white teeth . There was no way to exit the line . You are selling donuts they are premade I not sure how one would ever wait in long for this length of time . My guess is this location is lacking decent management to keep their team accountable and working efferently.
Our weekend treat after soccer practice. We look forward to it. Yummy kolaches. Nice variety. The Brisket ones are bomb.
Really, really good kolaches and donuts, 10/10 would go there for dinner if they were open
Spicy kolaches and apple fritters were excellent.
They cannot seem to get the order right the last 3 times I have been there. They keep messing up the ratios. I asked for 3 tacos 2 with NO CHEESE. And I got one taco with no cheese and 2 WITH cheese. I also asked for bacon on ALL three and ALL three tacos didn’t have any bacon on them. I called them to see why they continue to mess up my orders. Why they don’t pay attention because that’s frustrating and they persisted to tell me what I ORDERED. Even if they messed up the cheese part. HOW DID ALL THREE TACOS NOT HAVE BACON? My wife is literally having to cook the bacon to put on the tacos. DAMN SHAME
The donuts are decent BUT be prepared to spend 20-40 minutes in the drive thru if there are two or more cars in front of you. I can’t imagine what could possibly take so long at a donut shop.
Really like their breakfast tacos
Need a new kolache. Really not that impressed with their sausage and cheese kolache and I’ve tried them on multiple occasions. This time there were small hard chunks in it. These kolaches are also smaller than what I’m used to - the Sundale Doughnuts on Sawdust rd has huge kolaches for a dollar less than what southern maid charges.
Great service and delicious breakfast tacos!
BBQ/Brisket Kolache was amazing. Definitely enjoy the ham and cheese. Would definitely recommend wish it was closer honestly.
Food is ok but the service is soooooo slow!
Worst place ever!!!, How are you going to be a donut shop and not have any glaze donuts???? This is the third time Ive been there, every time in the morning, and they didnt have glazed donuts. This will definitely be my last time, I should have known better and went to Shipleys! I ended up going to Shipleys and got what I wanted!!
Very good service and food!!
Great menue, very curious staff, and quick in the drive thru. Right around the corner and would recommend to anyone who likes this kind of breakfast.
Its pretty good, no Shipleys though
Awesome made to order breakfast tacos! Great donuts! Super friendly!
This place is totally willing to rip off drive through customers by handing off totally STALE donuts. By stale, I mean >1 day old! They’ll compromise their quality for less than a dollar in profit. Absolutely NOT ETHICAL. Inspect your purchase for freshness BEFORE you leave!
We get tacos and donuts from here about twice a month early Sundays, and it is always superb. Try the Eggs/Sausage/Potato/Cheese tacos with red sauce and you won’t be disappointed (green sauce if you want to set your mouth on fire). They’re also reasonably priced - I can get breakfast for four and it’s still around $10.
Their brisket kolachis are fantastic!
Southern Maid donuts and breakfast sandwiches are the best! The glazed donuts melt in your mouth, the old fashioned donuts are creamy and satisfying. The croissant sandwiches are wonderful because the croissant is flaky and light. And the kolaches....wow! I love the ham and cheese.I go out of my way for a Southern Maid, even passing several other donut locations!
The line is always long but its well worth the wait and price! I ordered a croissant, juice,& and two donuts, but I only got one. This is the second time this has happened, but the food is good so Ill give them that.
They dont accept cards if you order less than $5, considering all they have cost less than $5. This place needs to start working according new basic standards like the fact that people pay with phones and cards nowadays.
You have you hours listed open on New Year’s Day, so we made the drive to get some donuts. Only to find you are closed. Advertise correct hours on google...
Breakfast tacos are cooked only when ordered so they are fresh. Think they are around 3.50 but they are huge. One fills me up and I almost always eat 2 anywhere else. What can I say about the rest? Its donuts.
I love this place theyve got the best donuts! And theyve got out of this world breakfast tacos! My girls dont live in this area but whenever they come to visit thats the first place that they go to for breakfast. The staff is always happy and the service is great! If you havent tried it youre missing out!
The guy at the register not very friendly handling money then goes in handles the food just looks miserable no salt no Pepper for tacos the guy got to go somewhere else no use being there looking miserable bringing the owners business down
Not all donuts are created equally; some are great and some are just good. But, up until today, I didnt know it was possible to have a BAD donut. The cream in my eclair tasted just like a nail salon smells, which is to say, not good and I felt sick the rest of the day.The bacon, egg, and cheese croissant was tasty though and the bacon was crispy!
The Breakfast Tacos are the best in area! Donuts are fantastic as well. I wish they were open all day, cause I could live on their breakfast tacos!
Second bad experience at this place. Made a large order ($30), paid for it, left $4 cash tip. Waited 15 minutes for the 4 breakfast tacos I ordered and watched at least 6 customers leave with theirs who had come in after me. Asked one of the people what the issue was and he checked with the cook (who also is either the manager or owner). I heard her say something about chorizo. After another person who came in after me got their 2 tacos, I had enough. The guy I spoke to before came out to take my order again....going on 30 minutes now. I told them to just give me my money back. They fumbled around for 2 or 3 more minutes trying to figure out how to give me a refund. I told them forget it....in not so many words....took the rest of my food and left.....minus 4 tacos or a refund for them!
I love this place.. I just dont like the new hours.. By the time I get off work theyre closed now. I love their breakfast tacos... Not healthy by far, but tastes great! :)
Donuts are decent, Ive had better in the area, theyre a bit overpriced and they never gave me the two kolaches I bought. This was after I had just witnessed a woman return for part of HER order! They werent busy, it was an easy order (a dozen donuts & 2 kolaches). Shame on me for not checking my order I guess??? Ive tried them once, but wont be back, too many superior options in the area that would appreciate the business.
The drive-through is always fast. The folks working the window do not say much but they get your order filled quickly. Good donut shop!
That have great donuts & breakfast tacos so big u can barely finish one!
Pretty expensive for poor quality Kolache,s.
Love the drive through. Makes it very easy with kids in the car. Donuts are often over cooked and oily though. Even my kids say they arent very good. They also stack the donuts on top of each other so when you get them out the icing sticks to the other donut. Frustrating!
The orange iced doughnuts were a cool novelty to set them apart from the Sundale across the street, and the chocolate cruller I had was fantastic! The workers were very kind and hard-working as well.
I like this place. Their spicy boudan kolache is good.
Their breakfast tacos are amazing but the wait is too long. I dont stop often because of how long it takes. A couple of the employees need more customer service skills.
Sitting here in the drive thru for 8 minutes already and still no sign of anyone. They r open but just in the back goofing off. Food is good service sucks.
Great donuts. Has a drive thru. Has flavored creamer for coffees! The sausage & cheese rolls/kolaches need work but we will continue to get donuts here 👌
Donuts are decent, the blueberry cake was a lil dry. But the tacos are pretty good.
We love this place. Best Kolaches ever
Drive thru is convenient, but how in the world do you mess up a donut order??? And it wasn’t like it was a big complicated order. Half dozen: 2 cream-filled, 1 strawberry filled, 2 chocolate with sprinkles, and 1 glazed. I came home to find 1 cream filled, 2 strawberry filled, 2 chocolate with no sprinkles, and 1 glazed. Like...seriously?!?! It’s not rocket science! Decided to give them another shot because maybe it was an off day or something. Ordered a half dozen: 2 cream filled, 1 Bavarian filled, 2 chocolate with sprinkles and 1 glazed. Came home to find 2 Bavarian filled, 1 chocolate with frosting, 1 vanilla frosting, and 1 glazed....and ONE missing donut!!!....the cream filled, which is the one donut I really wanted! The drive thru is the only benefit this place has going for them, especially when you have a couple of kids in your car. Donuts were mediocre.
Very friendly and helpful
For the most part I like this donut shop. The croissants are good also. The coffee is good when they make it.
This is my favorite donut shop. The cinnamon roll is great.
Donuts are pretty standard fare, with their apple fritters and old fashioned donuts being particular standouts. They carry all the standard kolaches plus unique additions like ham/swiss/jalapeno which is my favorite, bacon/egg/cheese, bacon/swiss, etc. Croissant sandwiches and breakfast tacos are made to order, and while I havent tried them yet, the tacos look huge. Definitely a staple of the area, even with a competitor chain right across the street.
Everything is great here. Whether a doughnut sweet tooth or hearty brisket kolache, its all good.
Always fresh. The breakfast tacos are delicious! Good variety.
Made very fresh
Great Donuts... not too sweet
I love their plain glazed doughnuts and breakfast tacos. They stay busy.
Pretty Good for a 1st time. Thx yall:)
My daughter loves their kolaches but the last three times we came here they were closed early, employees visible inside and I have to be the bad guy and tell my daughter they are closed. Going to find a new place that is still open on a Saturday at 12:45.
Love there freshly made breakfast tacos
Edit: The last 3 times my kolaches, donuts, and even tacos have tasted like Fabuloso cleaning product. The fumes while they clean penetrate the food. I just cant go here anymore.Delicious donuts, huuuge breakfast tacos. Always hot and fresh. Little more expensive, but way tastier than the other donut shops around here. Oh, and they have a drive-thru.
Their kolaches are awesome. Especially boudain.
Try the ham kolache. Seriously, its amazing.
Best kolaches and donuts in area
They are the slowest moving people I have seen. The food is ok.
Best donuts. Get their early on Sundays.
Had a good little breakfast here with the family. Everything tasted good and reasonable.
This place is dirty, the restroom is always filthy and out of order. The employees are rude and the service is slow. The coffee is cold & has no flavor. The icing tastes different then other donut shops.
Donuts are the best
Three seperate vists, three times my order hasnt been fulfilled correctly.
Always great and friendly.
Love their cake donuts and kolaches
Food is mediocre. Service is lacking.
Friendly and fast.... mmmm donuts
Such amazing tacos
Some of the best breakfast tacos In the area.
