My wife commutes from Lynnwood to Tacoma and works litteraly 2 minutes up the road from this place. The other day her car wouldnt start and so she naturally looked up mechanics and this place had seemingly good reviews. When she called to see if they could help her out they did not treat her well at all. They close at 5pm and my wife called them at exactly 3:57 and they told her they were closing soon but that they guess they could take a look. When she got there the mechanic had a condescending tone and kept telling her just how hard and expensive parts are for hyundais. Basically said it would take up to 6 weeks to just look at the car. If thats the case he could have simply said they could not take on other cars without giving the attitude and make her feel belittled. She knows how cars work and isnt shy about getting things done herself however being 1hr plus away from home put us in a bit of a pinch. Anyways needless to say we decided to go somewhere else.D & D auto repair came to the rescue! They were only 7 minutes away and where more than willing to accommodate us. They did admit they were busy and also had a close time of 5pm (same closing time mind you) but were willing to check the car out. Weve had constant updates and they are very nice and upfront about costs. I would honestly belive the 1 star reviews for this place. I have had multiple experiences with mechanics and this is the most unprofessional one as of yet, buyer beware!
Friendly staff, expierenced & professional mechanics.nice clean shop! You bring auto here rest assured it will be well taken care of.
I highly recommend Lloyd and Wilson! I have brought my diesel sprinter van to probably 5 different mechanics in Tacoma and this was by far the best experience and price. Thanks so much for the great service!
Every time we go to Lloyd & Wilson we get the best customer service. They are kind, knowledgeable, helpful and are always up front with what needs to be done, what can be done and what can wait—if that’s the case. We appreciate that they take the time to talk to us when we have questions and further explain anything if need be. We have been going to Lloyd and Wilson for all our car needs for over 5 years and are happy to recommend them to anyone.
Bob did a pre purchase car inspection on an old van I was looking into converting into my home! Too many issues with it so I took it back but I felt like I completely understood what was wrong with it even though I don’t know as much as I’d like to about the van. Didn’t even charge me the inspection because the van would cost more to fix than it would to buy. It’s really nice to go to the mechanic and actually feel like your mechanic is looking out for you instead of feeling like you need to take it all with a grain of salt. Not to mention he’s been doing it since he was 14. Super friendly people and I’ll absolutely go back.
When I brought my car in I explained that a particular fuse kept blowing and that I had it replaced multiple times prior, even disconnecting all third party accessories to narrow down the problem. Knowing that I already had the fuse replaced and that wasnt the problem, I expected more than the exact same temporary repair when they attempted to fix it. Sadly, they tried exactly what I explained had already been done twice before. I called them and left a message within one day of their repair failing and explained that the fuse blew once again. I left them a message and a mechanic tried to text me instead of calling the following day. The conversation was impossible to follow and unprofessional to begin with, who texts a customer instead of calling them?! When he finally did call he did not listen and continued to shut me down when I attempted to speak -- I felt very small to say the least. I paid $500+ for other repairs that Im not even sure my car needed, and when I asked for a $60 refund on what they couldnt fix they refused. Given that I explained how the fuse would continue to blow and they chose to ignore me to do exactly what I asked them not to do, made me feel very taken advantage of. They eventually offered to look at it again after weeks of runaround and multiple emails basically stating that a temporary fix was still a fix, even if it lasts less than a day. Im not sure you want that kind of dishonesty and disrespect in your mechanic, but I definitely dont. Ive recognized that Ill probably just have to eat the charge of something they didnt fix, but hopefully someone else reads this and decides to find a more honest location better worth their time and money.
Hey look these guys did a absolutely phenomenal job on my car it took him a minute but they figured it out and they did the job right they were patient and and that counts a lot they were going to get it fixed right by got it if it took to the end of the Earth and I appreciated their their their kindness theyre the way they treated me and I just do great work and I cant say enough about him thank you so much guys I really do appreciate all that hard work you put into it okay
Excellent service; fair price; honest; quick service. A fine business. Kyle is the man.
Great friendly, reliable, honest service. I trust what Im told about my car maintenance and repairs. I never feel like Im being over charged like at other auto service places. They do excellent work.
Always our first choice for repairing our cars!
Okay, check how often i leave reviews (rarely) I am blown away by this place is a god send. I just had a buyers inspection for a car I was interested in buying. They were HONEST with me and got in touch with me a few minutes after I had gone to a nearby coffee place (as the inspection was supposed to take approximately an hour.). They told me the car was not safe and because they figured that out (and explained the details to me so thoroughly) So quickly they didn’t even charge me anything. Kyle took the time to show me on my google maps the safest route back to the car lot as the car was so unsafe to drive. They even got me in touch with a regular customer who was selling a car that met my needs. They said since they have been inspecting that car for years they knew it was safe and wouldn’t even encourage me to bring that particular car in for a buyer’s inspection as they already know how well it runs. That is TWO instances they could have charged me and didn’t. These people are legit ethical and knowledgeable. I am so grateful and will drive all the way here (I live nearly two hours away) for my future car needs as I trust these folks now so much. Amber was also a saint and not only squeezed me in last second but was very understanding that i was behind schedule and explained thoroughly ways to drop off keys and such for the future to make my timing convenient after work and living far away. This is the place to go!!!!!
Ive gone here twice, so far, for oil changes and have been happy with the price and service. Much better option than Jiffey Lube or any of those places. I will keep coming here.
Just called them to see if they can replace my alternator. They quoted me $750, and said $200 of that was labor. So then I asked if I could purchase the part elsewhere, and see if they could install the part. They said yes they would do it for the $200 labor cost and that I just need to call them back and schedule the appointment. So I purchase the part at Autozone for $210 (+$40 after core charge) and they then state they wont do it. What kind of service is that? Terrible if you ask me. Id avoid this place. They obviously up-charge quite a bit on parts - in this case $550 vs $210 ($340 up-charge - they probably get it even cheaper since they are a business). Thats pretty shady to me. Believe the other low star reviews about service on this place. Im guessing the good reviews are by people who just dont do their homework.
This is the real deal auto shop. The staff is friendly, responsive and well trained. I only trust my cars to them! The cost of quality work is not cheap, but I feel like I get what I pay for, I have never felt scammed. I fully trust them!
I needed to have an intake manifold replacement. I was told the cost of the part was over 400 bucks and the labor hours would be 6 hours at $102 an hour. The same exact part was $214 at AutoZone and $117 online. I understand business but I hate greediness. I had the job done for $500 they gave me an estimate if $1400. I hate that company for taking advantage of people. However, they serve a modestly rich demographic. So I guess they were telling me we dont serve your kind here.
Nice and Friendly staff.
I can not even believe how disrespected I was by the woman behind the counter! To be spoken to as though I am a child and then have her make snarky remarks to her co worker is completely un acceptable! I would suggest people stay away!
Great prices and always take extra time to explain and answer questions.
Im a shade tree mechanic who got into a jam after replacing the cylinder head on my beater-commuter Honda, I went in for a valve lash adjustment and they found a larger problem that I caused when doing my cylinder head replacement. They explained the situation extremely well to me, discussed the options, and let me know the probable consequences based on how I decided to proceed. They communicated every step of the way, and cleaned up my mess as best they could. I havent gotten the car back yet but Im sure Ill be happy with the repair based on what Ive been told. You cant judge an auto-shop based on anything but the quality of service and communication, having worked on cars myself a little bit, there arent always silver-bullet answers to every problem or question, sometimes its just a risk vs reward analysis. The great thing about Lloyds is that you get an analysis you can trust and theyll explain it in laymans terms, or more advanced terms if youre so inclined.Great shop, great prices, no huge markup on parts, knowledgeable, and polite staff, 5 stars and I wont be going to any other garage ever again.
We used Lloyd & Wilson for years with great satisfaction but then changed shops for about 8yrs because L&W was becoming more expensive. The shop that we had been happily using recently went out of business and I tried L&W again. I had an OCCASIONAL rough idle/stalling problem and in process of trying to fix it, ended up with a vacuum leak that I took to L&W and they fixed it at reasonable cost. I then took it back to L&W to see if they could fix original problem. They replied that I had misfiring plug and requested $300 to replace plugs/wires. I deferred on that expense as I can do that myself. BUT, when I picked car up, it now had a CONSTANT rough idle, to the point of not running without me keeping my foot on the gas. Thinking it might have been the plugs/wires still, I replaced w/new plugs & wires but still had constant rough or no idle/stalling problem. Called L&W to explain situation and they said they’d call back. After not receiving call several hours later, I called back and after explaining situation, was told basically, that because I had worked on it, it was my problem. There wasn’t any openness to the possibility that they could have done anything to cause problem. I rarely post complaints and I think L&W are generally honest people that try to do good work but they let me down this time in a major way. Another shop diagnosed the problem as faulty EGR valve & modulator and car is finally running fine again. Maybe they didn’t cause my car’s problem to get worse but I found their unwillingness to explore why the car got worse after they worked on it to be very disheartening. They may be good mechanics but customer service is lacking.
Take me in right away. They are pricey, but the seem to care about doing good work.
I have taken about 4 cars here over the years. these folks are honest people and that is great to find in a mechanic. i recently tore into my chevy s10 and was un-able to put it back together. they helped and went beyond what i paid for even after getting it back to help verbally explain some wiring issues a have. good mechanics/ honest mechanics are hard to find so im glad i found these folks here. ALWAYS go to folks who say no its not a 300$ part. its a 25$ part and we can help. thank you guys!
Estimate from the dealer was nearly twice what their final price was. Took about a day to do the timing belt and water pump. Great people. Even changed the oil without charging additional. Thanks Lloyd and Wilson!
Buyers inspection Saved me from getting scammed by a used car lot trying to sell me a salvaged truck as a clean never been in an accident. They did a VERY GOOD FULL inspection.
Just got a quote to have an alternator replaced on my 98 civic, over $400, trying to say $240 of which was just for the alternator itself... I can get one at autozone for $100 (+$60 core but you get that back) If theyre going to try and charge me more than twice the price on parts I cant Imagine where else theyll try and screw me.The best part was the guy I talked to when I first called them had some story about how Honda usually uses a 90amp alternator, but for a few years they used 180amp ones, and if its one of those theyre more expensive. ALL of which is bullshit, the replacement Alternators are 75amps which is more than enough for a late 90s Civic. If youre looking for car work, keep looking, clearly L&W wants to rip me off, I doubt theyll treat you any better.
I brought my wifes car to Lloyd and Wilson back in January 2017. Alll the recommendations said they were a quality shop. We ended up replacing a radiator and paid nearly $800 for it (it is about 10% more expensive than other shops) .Yesterday we found that the car wouldnt heat up I thought maybe a thermostat but it turned out the radiator had failed. Took my car back with 9 months having passed. They diagnosed the problem and did the replacement work in the same day at no cost to us.Ill never use another shop. The slightly higher price means I have quality folks who cover their work, no questions asked and you cant put a price on that.
I purchased an older truck that Lloyd and Wilson had done a major rebuild on for the previous owner. In my efforts to secure some engine intel on the rig, they were extremely responsive and supportive in answering my questions and providing helpful advice for its care. Its rare to get that lvel of service when you are a companys direct customer, let alone their indirect customer.
Terrible communication, terrible work, terrible business.
They are always fair and do quality work. Highly recommend
I will only take my car here. And incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff that has always taken great care of me.
Horrible experience!Im not sure why there are so many good reviews about this place but I got shoddy service and theyre refusing to refund my money after determining that their diagnosis was incorrect. Basically they misdiagnosed what was wrong with my car, gave me a quote for over $3K to fix it (the fix turned out to be about $0.05!), and they now refuse to reimburse me for the (faulty) diagnosis work.Perhaps I didnt get their A team. Initially I talked directly to a mechanic who seemed to be very open and helpful. Later when I talked to the lady who communicates the quotes, etc. I was told the mechanic isnt supposed to talk to the customers. This was after I commented on how she was contradicting what the mechanic had told me. Also who ever worked on my car was clueless on how my flywheel works, so maybe they gave me a trainee I dont know, but I would recommend never taking a Volkswagen here...actually I will never bring any car to this place again
Have a 2002 VW Passat Wagon: Timing Belt, Break Calipers, Suspension, & some little stuff have all been done within a timely manner. Priced well below competitors (& I called a lot of shops before picking these guys) Ive suggesting them to friends that are in need of a mechanic. Glad we found em! Happy to travel (Frm Eatonville) to get service done with them!
Lloyd & Wilson staff treat customers as their family - providing great service, friendly advice and fair prices.
Honest & Reliable, everything you want from a mechanic.
Love this place and great customer service.
Great customer service, nice people
