Ive been an infrequent customer with Old Town Bicycle for some time now. In the past, I have stopped by from time to time to purchase random bits for my bikes. A little while ago, I used their bike fitting service and was very satisfied.Recently, I purchased my first bike from Old Town. The staff were able to answer all of my questions quickly and competently, and with a friendly attitude. Now that Ive purchased a bike from Old Town, I plan on becoming a regular customer thanks to the service and support Ive received. Prices are, in my opinion, competitive. Service is top notch. The staff is great. I really cant recommend Old Town enough for your bike needs.
Fantastic bike shop. Great customerservice, top class work, and a great value.
I have used old town bike for almost 20 years for all my cycling needs. I own my own shop now and refer all my customers there that are closer to them or have needs that my 2 man shop cant handle because of work overload. Shout out to you guys from pennybikeco. for always keeping it real, stocking odd ball parts and having a sales team and technicians with experience and know how. Keep up the good work fellas youre a tacoma icon!
I took my Transition Bike in for brake adjustments. I was very impressed with the friendly and professional staff they have. They spent time with me going over the bike and explaining what needs to be fixed that I was not aware of. They went over and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and that I was happy with the end result. Pricing was great. Very happy with my new bike shop and would recommend them to anyone.
Not a big box supporter but REI had better prices and friendlier service.
I feel that I was treated with dignity and respect. I probably had the cheapest bike in the place and nobody gave me a hard time for it. Prices on parts are also cheaper than Amazon which is pretty great. I will definitely come back to this place.
They did a great job with a last minute bike repair and squeezed us in. Super quick and efficient would go to again. 10/10
I recently added a PNW dropper post to my mountain bike and I am really glad I chose to do business with Old Town Bicycle. They really went out of their way to accommodate me even though I came in with no appointment on a busy day for them. They got the work done super fast and made sure I was 100% satisfied before I left the shop. The experience was really top notch all the way from walking in, to learning about which post would be ideal for me, to getting the actual service done. Ive already recommended them to several friends and I will be back.
Friendly staff and super helpful. Did a quick break fix without an appointment! Super great shop. Also happy to see they were following covid guidelines!
This is the place everybody should go with their bike questions. From customer service to the service center. Fair prices on their product as well.
Old Town Bike is fantastic! I go out of my way to go here for the quality, passionate, and honest work they do. However much you ride, the staff takes care of you and makes you feel valued.
The team here was great. Helped me right away when I came in and were able to figure out what was going on with me wheel and repair in on the spot, done in under 15 minutes. Bikes riding much smoother now. Thanks Steven!
Nice guys, and they had solid selection of components despite supply being extremely thin everywhere due to covid. Have been in there a few times, and they always had what I needed.
Im bike-illiterate, so I needed a flat repair and basic tuning for my e-bike. They solved my problems quickly, their pricing was very reasonable, and they were friendly and helpful the entire time. Ill be back for sure.
I had an excellent experience with Old Town. I scheduled my Infinity brand bike from CostCo for a tune up since I had built the bike myself and it needed a professional look. I was a little frustrated with my bike and the issue it was having, even after the tune up. The customer service these guys showed was stellar. They kept calm and very professional the entire time. They took the time to show me what the issue was. They really explained the workings of the bike and the specific issue my brand of bike has. After some time we came to a resolution and they were just all around wonderful. I highly recommend this business. Thank you Old Town Bike!!
Drove down to tacom old Town bicycle shop for a shift issues which was just a adjustment and to fix my tire valve issue. Riley was very friendly and knowledgeable. This place is 10 time better than Gregg cycles in lynnwood. I believe old town cycles in tacoma and gig harbor are best bike shops Ive been too.
No more service service:-(I liked this shop, and purchased many bikes from them because they offer tune ups for life with every purchase. Unfortunately, this promotion has backfired. You now have wait weeks to months to get any service, which makes this program useless for any regular riders. I am switching to Trek now that they they are in Tacoma. They have great bikes and offer same or next day service. Thanks for the good years and let me know if you ever figure out how to speed up service.
I have been an Old Town customer for years. They always offer great service and a good selection of parts and accessories.
Just want to say thank you Old Town Bicycle. These guys did an amazing job today with helping me find a bike that fit my needs. I believe Stephen was the one who helped me and I just want to say thank you for not making me feel pressured for jumping up to a more expensive bike i told you my budget you found me a bike, you also made sure I had everything I needed before leaving and made me feel comfortable with my purchase this is definitely the shop to go to. I chose to drive 40 minutes out of my way to hopefully find a good bike shop and I think it paid off.If anyone is looking for a friendly bike shop with great customer service Ill definitely point them in the direction of you guys ! 5 stars for great customer service unbelievable. Ill be back ! I love my bike went strait from this shop strait to the trail Im very satisfied with my purchase
Helpful and friendly. I lost a screw in my bike shoes and they hunted down a spare for me and gave me one for free. They have a very loyal following and good line of products.
The current market for buying bikes is a struggle. Not much stock in an XL frame hardtail mountain bike. But through another shop, I found a Fuse Comp 29 at the Gig Harbor location and called them. They offered to hold it for me for a couple days - then asked if I was closer to Olympia or Tacoma and offered to have it shipped to any of their stores. Fantastic service from Riley at the Tacoma store made it happen. So I ended up with my bike at the Tacoma store, and Mikey helped me with a test ride and answered my questions after I took it for a spin. He knew all the answers, then took time to show me a local website to find the trails.I felt comfortable in the store, and treated like a valued customer by all involved. Thank you Riley and Mikey, for the great service.
Ive had positive and negative experiences here. I received excellent customer service the first time I bought some tools and parts. But on the next two occasions, the tool/part was either out of stock (they only do orders once a week) and I was told--in person--that they were too busy to look for the part I needed (middle of a weekday) so I should go home, send them an email, and theyll call to get back with me. No thanks... Ill take my business elsewhere or online.
Super friendly staff! A very welcoming bike shop with knowledgeable sales people, a stellar selection, and excellent Covid policies in place.
Great service for my short experience at the store. Had to get a new lever for dropper, was asked with a couple of questions and another employee was so attentive that he already got the item from the shelf and passed it on to the guy who was initially assisting me, double checked and done. I was out the door in 3mins, satisfied.
I’ve had 110% amazing experiences here over the past 5 years - the bike selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff, local flair, and responsive customer service is the epitome of “local” done right.
Lack of communication caused my service to be less than desired. Services not complete when I picked up my bicycle. Needed to return bicycle to have services completed.
I asked to put more sealent in my tires and to clean and oil my chain. Minor things. I was charged $10 for the bottle of sealent, which is legit. Then $10 a tire just to add sealent from the bottle that I bought and the chain wasnt even touched. I shouldve just done it myself. I feel totally ripped off.
Took my bike in for a tune up, they tweaked it a bit, filled the tires and got it back in 5 minutes no charge. This type of customer service plus their great selection is the reason I only do business with OTB exclusively.
Great staff! Willing to listen to concerns and up-front about possible wait time(s)
Sometimes it can be hard to get them to call you back, but man do these guys know their stuff and leave commission breath at the door. Actually pointed my dad and I to the cheaper model of the bikes we ended up getting, and we love them!
Great service!
My wife and I have been OTB customers since 2002. We’ve bought 4 bikes there over the years, and look forward to many more. Even now that we’ve moved out of the region, I still come back when I need expertise. Tory and his crew run a fantastic bike shop.
Awesome customer service by the entire staff! After taking a long break from riding I decided to get back into the sport. My first goal was to find a local shop that I could trust and deserved my money. After going to over 7 bike shops within a 75 mile radius I knew Old Town Bike in Tacoma was by far the best around._____One person deserves to be mentioned on their own and this is the Tacoma store mechanic, his name is Riley, for anyone reading this I guarantee you will never find another employee that is not only so enjoyable to be around and share a conversation with but he is also very helpful with any questions you have while providing you with suggestions on your build. He has such an infectious personality that I can guarantee you will walk out of the store having a better day than you did before you walked in. Never have I met someone with such professionalism and sociability in any industry. This is the type of employee that as a manager/owner you need to be very careful because Im sure some very lucrative job offers will come his way if they have not already._____________I will say these guys have zero competition and the only reason anyone would shop elsewhere is if they were looking for an obscure brand that Old Town Bike cant provide. Not only have the best prices around for a brick and mortar (B&M) shop; they are highly competitive with the online shops as well. The entire staff is both friendly and very helpful. They will not corner you to buy from them and they do not come off as being pushy at all. I told them up front I was looking to buy a used bike and I simply wanted to test ride their bike for sizing reasons; not only did they not try to sell me their bike, they made sure the fit was right for me and stated that the used bike I was looking to buy would fit me perfectly. Ive spent a decent amount of money there and I will continue to do so based on the fact that this is what I wish all business were like!-Travis P.
They were amazing here, staff all knowledgeable and helpful as well. I was a little nervous coming in cause I didn’t know anything about a bike besides how to ride one and needing one that fit my size. Me being 4’10 it wasn’t the easiest for me to get a bike but they definitely got that problem quick. You get to test your bike out as well which I thought was pretty cool and they also offer all these other services as well for you and your bike: 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking to get a bike!
I’ve never purchase a bike here, just had my MTB serviced. Chris and his service team are very honest and thorough in how they work with you. They’ll always give you and estimate up front and will always get your consent before proceeding with anything in question.Their work has been good quality. I’ve had them send suspension in for full rebuilds, true wheels, adjust drive trains, do hydraulic brake work, swap out tubeless tires, and other work.As long as you treat them well unlike the roadies clad in Lycra they’ll take care of you.
I had a tune-upon my mountain bike a few months ago, and the chain broke a few weeks ago and I brought the chain in and it looked at it and they gave me a free replacement which I think is great these guys are awesome. Thanks guys
Best bike shop in the Northwest, hands down the coolest staff. Dont waste your money anywhere else. I recommend the honey waffle snacks. Support local shops and clean up your local trails.
Very kindly store.. I buy Roubaix2020
Wonderful local bike shop for your cycling needs. Manager Tory and staff do a great job servicing their customers. Look around the bike shop and not feel pressured.
I purchased a Specialized bike at Old Town Bicycles recently. The customer service was excellent and the employees knowledgeable and courteous. I highly recommend this bike shop.
Had to lower my rating. Paid cash for bike. Sales person said 5 to 7 days. 8 days later they ordered it, so they say. Not happy about communication. Still waiting. Old review: Good service, fair price. Five 🌟
I am both impressed and disappointed. What impressed me the most was the can do attitude that Dane showed when I brought my wheel in for service. Even though he was the new guy he impressed me with his professionalism and excellent customer service. At first I was told that the repair to the wheel could take several days to a week to complete because of the workload. Dane took initiative and completed the work in under 2 hours. When I returned to pick up my wheel, he showed exemplary patience with the computer check out process, even though it was causing him some difficulty.I am disappointed that I cannot bring my recumbent trike in for service. The shop is a bit small. However I will be telling my upright friends about the great service and professionalism of the staff at Old Town Bicycle.
Extremely unfriendly staff. I went in with some simple questions on a tailgate pad and I had to ask the guy halfway through if I was being combative because he was being quite rude the entire time and I was confused why.
Outstanding service and selection. The manager does a fantastic job of matching your needs and budget to the perfect bike. Great fit services too
If youve got a high end bike and lots of spare cash and you know all the terminology about bikes, this might be a shop for you. If youre a laymen who doesnt have a whole lot of cash, this might not be your shop. This is to be expected, people who know what they want and have the money to buy it require the least amount of labor for the maximum profit, but it might be good for these guys to learn to cultivate their customers a little bit.
The few times Ive been their customer service was above and beyond great. They sell higher end bikes but werent snooty about helping me fix up my lower end bike like another bike shop in Tacoma that was anything but friendly. Oh yeah and in addition to great customer service theyve been friendly, welcoming, and eager to help out every time I walked through their doors. (Again other bike shops in Tacoma didnt seem to care that I chose to step foot in their store)((point being othat stores were awful but that seems to be most bicycle shops and so even if they were just a LITTLE better they would have been great but they were amazing so much so I reccomend them to others and tell them theyre worth the extra few miles.))(((of course if you know exactly what you need and dont care about employees that care you can go anywhere. Lol
The employees suit the needs of their customers; if your an introvert, they somehow know not to say How may I help you? the second you walk in the door, for if you are an extrovert, then they will start a conversation right away. A local company of knowledgeable, and most important, passionate cyclists.
Brought my old Schwinn city bike in for a check up, and the guys at the service desk had it tuned up very well and very quickly. Excellent service in general; Im definitely headed back here next time I need anything bike-related.
Extremely knowledgeable. They can fit your bike just by watching you ride on a stationary trainer for a few minutes. Although not a huge store its economy of variety is impressive how they can offer so many things in such a small shop compared to other bike shops. I just wish it was closer to where I live.
Update (5/27/2016): I have made a major revision to my earlier post, below. My angst began with disappointment, but was exacerbated by an excuse given by one staff member, blaming the Olympia store.I picked up my bike and was met by Tory, at the Tacoma store. He offered an apology, which I graciously accepted. We are all humans and mistakes happen. Excuses do not help and Tory offered none. Instead, he was very professional, despite being fully aware of my earlier, scathing report. With the acceptance of responsibility I freely accepted that, as I said, we are only human and things happen. Brushing my original disappointment aside, I have no other reason to be disappointed with either the Olympia nor the Tacoma stores.I would definitely recommend Old Town Bicycle from my original experience during the informational visit and purchase. The staff is helpful, patient and knowledgeable and they clearly care about their customers.Thank you, Tory and Dmitri!Original post (5/26/2016): I purchased a bike at the Olympia store for delivery at the Tacoma store, when it arrived from the factory. I waited two weeks and called the Tacoma store and was told that the bike had been there already for a week. I asked why I was not called and was told by a guy at the Tacoma store that the Olympia store did not tell them to call me.Passing the buck on blame for something like a phone call to say when something arrives is beyond stupid. Buy from a store that employs adults instead of children, as this nuthouse seems to.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff, who are always willing to go out of their way to help you find just what you need for the kind of ride youre looking for. Once you find your bike, they help you get fitted, so its just right for you!
They were super easy to work with by helping me find what i was looking for and showed me how to use them correctly. Thank you so much!
Excellent service! My rim had a crack, they loaned me a loaner for my ride and within a few days they had a replacement and serviced it that same day. I felt they went above and beyond. I would highly recommend using them for service again.
Great place. Friendly & and knowledge staff, fairly easy parking. Plenty of accessories to dream about.
I do a lot of cycling and have pretty expensive equipment. I trust Old Town Bicycle when it comes to fixing problems or just tuning up one of my bikes. I appreciate their friendliness and professionalism.
Best Shop ever
Im none stop working Messenger couiror and mat has always takin care of my bike.
When it was time to upgrade my entry level road bike to a higher quality tri bike, I assumed the best price would be from a shop that had one in my size. After a lot of calling around, Old Town Bicycle ordered my bike and was able to match the best price I had found (saving me a trip to Oregon). Tory fitted me to the bike and it was *perfect*. Hes offered recommendations on other equipment such as pedals and his advice has always been helpful.Im not a bike mechanic, so I get my bike adjusted here as needed. If Im having an issue, I bring it in and its fixed. There is nothing worse than getting your bike back from a shop only to find it doesnt shift smoothly, and this has never happened to me at Old Town. My husband and I wont waste our time anywhere else.Expertise without ego.
Great shop, very helpful and happy to make sure you get the right part.
Great staff good pricing busy shop
Nice people, great selection. They have a knowledgable service team, and a nice selection of bikes.
Awesome service. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. The only place I will shop from now on.
The employees of Old Town Bicycle are nice and helpful. Its a little bit more expensive than some of the other local shops, but the quality and customer service justify the price.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Not pressured to buy anything and free to browse.
Great serve. Very accommodating.
Wonderfully friendly staff. Very knowledgeable on bikes. Sort of on the small side.
Helped me get back on the road after a flat, great service!
The only bike shop worth my hard earned cash!
Very helpful and knowledgeabl
Great shop! Had the tubes I needed for my stroller and very good customer service!
Would recommend for any person looking for a LBS in the South Sound area, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
My experience at this bike shop has not been great in many ways. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I have to say Jason (manager) is so condescending that I walked out of there hoping they would go out of business. My wife bought an $1800 bike there and my son a $500 bike but if I could I would return it all tomorrow. I turned around and went to Biketech in Tacoma. They took care of me with a very friendly and knowledgable sales staff and I gladly gave them my money. I like Specialized bikes but I will not be going back to old town. I plan to spread the word.
Knowledgeable service and great inventory.
My wifes bike was rendered unusable after our recent move. Since there is no place to rent a bike locally and I wanted to bike Vashon Island the next day before I left for a long trip with the Air Force, I went in to the shop last minute to see if they could fix my wifes bike. An awesome tech, Trygg came to my rescue and fixed up the bike in minutes. Even though the shop was busy with other customers, Trygg had no problem spending some unexpected minutes helping out a very grateful customer (me). I couldnt say anything better about this shop!
Staff very helpful with choosing a bike
They carry all the different bikes that any different cycling level, with staff that can take care of them.
Very fast and friendly service, nice selection
I went to several bike shops in Tacoma, Puyallup and Orting looking for a Hayes brake line and this shop was the most helpful and had the best selection plus had the part I needed in stock. Highly reccomended and well worth the drive.
Helpful staff, reasonal repair prices.
Great local bike shop.
Needed a chain so I called and was quoted 25 for the chain so I get there and it takes all of a couple minutes the new chain to be installed and then 25 turned into 45 for literally nothing extra so be careful they appear to get a bonus if they sell nothing, if I was smart I would have ordered from Amazon and clicked it in myself 9.00 then 1 for a link 114 -116
Unbelievable service!!!!!! I purchased a bike at another store and the bicycle was the wrong bicycle for me, and they exchanged it and bent over backwards for me!!!!
Very friendly... if you need a tune up schedule one soon!
Great service with a little extra!
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Great bikes, great customer service!
Very helpful and a very cool place to shop!!!
Highly knowledgeable and excellent service.
Love this bike shop!
The best!
Friendly and not pushy
Mechanic was a jerk.
