My experience at CarMax in Tallahassee was everything I wanted it to be. On my initial visit I was connected with Will. The vehicle I wanted was unavailable so I didnt make a purchase that day. When it became available Will was off on that day so I was assigned to someone else. I mentioned Will because I feel he was just as dedicated to me finding the right vehicle as everyone else at CarMax. When I found the right vehicle I contacted CarMax and had it transferred. Once everything was in order Noah and Jordon ( a new trainee) did an excellent job of guiding me through my purchase. The price was as stated. There was no pushing me to purchase any extras. I declined Maxcare because I didnt want to be limited on repair shop choices but I seriously considered it due to the kindness and thoroughness I saw from theses two. Everything was explained and only after I said I understood everything did we close the deal. I highly recommend CarMax in Tallahassee.

Took my 2017 Toyota Corolla to Carmax to sell the salesman test drove it went back and talk to whoever and came and told me that because it had 72,000 miles on it they were going to have to sell it to wholesale and probably take a loss, lo and behold I look on their website two weeks later they’ve got my car on their lot for sale for $5000 more than what they bought it from me for this is after I told them to go back to corporate and see if they could get more money they said the car had way too high mileage obviously it didn’t because they sold the car within two days of listing it online. I only owed $7000 on the car and it was valued at $12,000 so they basically paid me what was left on the loan and then profited $5000 from whoever bought it.

CarMax was recommended to me by my daughter, my sister, and my wife, all of whom purchased nice cars from CarMax. I usually buy used cars from from cash car lots and end up spending lots of money for maintenance and repairs. This is my first time purchasing a car from a dealership, and although my SUV is pre-owned (2017), it feels new to me, and I got it at a great price! CarMax has truly revolutionized the purchasing of pre-owned cars. I found this SUV on their website and had it shipped from another city. The staff at the call center and the Tallahassee showroom (Lesley and Tasia) were very kind, attentive, and helpful. What I like the most about CarMax is their 30-day return policy and their 90-day warranty which gives you time to get acquainted with your new car. I also purchased the extended 2-year warranty. CarMax repaired the rotors on my vehicle free of charge and even covered the cost for me to rent a steam cleaner to remove the slight pet odor that was in my car. This SUV is perfect for me and my family! This whole experience was enjoyable, and I will highly recommend CarMax to anyone!!!

Do not waste your time and effort at the CarMax in Tallahassee, FL. Find a reputable dealership that will take time to inspect and service their used cars. They sold me a car that overheated before I could get it off the lot because it was never inspected or serviced. They just take the cars and sell them. They will take your transfer fee and promise to ship the car. But they will NEVER transfer the car, making up all kinds of crazy excuses why they cant. But like I said, only after taking your money. It took months to receive a refund check after I called their corporate office daily. Some of the staff is just downright unprofessional. Take your business where it will be appreciated and sold a decent vehicle. CarMax will never get a dime of my hard earned money again!!!

I had the pleasure of working with Pablo. He was very detailed in explaining the entire process. He was training other individuals and explained he was a mentor for the company. Pablo helped me to understand the value in my vehicle and made me feel comfortable with the sale. He was extremely helpful and patient. Pablo was expressive the entire process and did nothing without my knowledge. Pablo is a great asset to the environment. The overall facility was nice and clean. There were no long wait times and each staff I came in contact with was polite and helpful.

I got a quote from CarMax on line to sell my car, made an appointment and went in the next day. It was a breeze, they checked the car, saw it was just as Id said it was and made an offer at the same amount Id been given on line. My payoff was to CarMax Finance and the amount was exactly what showed on my account on the app. Within another half hour they had my paperwork ready, I signed it and they gave me a check. As I expected, everyone there was friendly, polite and professional.

Super upset with CarMax Tallahassee, I advise my son to go there and purchase his new car this is his third car and first time at CarMax so obviously he has a lot of car buying happening in his future hes only 23... I went with him to check out the car that he had shipped from Texas when I looked at the tires I saw that The car must have been sitting with one side to the Sun for quite some time The tires were dry rotted... When we pointed this out to our sales rep she said her manager took a look and said they had at least another 10,000 miles on them meanwhile we were purchasing a new car and giving CarMax $17,000 and they cant even replace two dangerous tires ? I wonder if they would feel confident letting their child drive on the highway with these tires ?

After I was approved online, paid to have the car trucked to Tallahassee, spent 2 hours going over the paperwork, gave them 3k for a deposit, they even put my tag on the car I was told that I could not have the car because I do Grubhub part time. Fine, but someone should have looked at my application before I was practically walking out the door with the keys in my hand. They had my application for a week. More details to come after my complaint to the State is filed regarding incompetent and unfair business practices.

Unbelievable but true, finally a buy/sell car place that is zero pressure! Soooo simple. 1) get an online quote by honestly listing your car/condition; 2) take your very fair quote to the appointment, 3) after an hour which includes their quick inspection, 4) walk out with your car sold at a price you think is very fair. We just sold our car in 1 hour 16 minutes. Most of the time was spent with us having a great conversation with our service helper. This truly was the best experience Ive ever had at a car place...and Im 70 years old....

Both the price the car purchased and the value for the trade in seem fair, but the no haggle experience is a convenience, so if you want to haggle you can likely get better prices elsewhere. The car was generally as listed, though missing some accessory pieces. Never got a response when asking about those missing pieces (not a big surprise since any used car purchases is pretty much as is once driven off the lot). There was an overcharge in my tag/registration transfer that they found and refunded. My guess would be most any other dealers would kept the difference so I appreciate the honesty. Generally a positive experience for those not wanting to deal with a more traditional dealership.

Best car buying experience I have ever had and this comes from a person who spent 18 years of being in the automobile business doing everything from a salesperson to a general manager. No high pressure, no running to get approvals several times, no games. The same person who started the sale finished the sale even all the paperwork.

I bought a truck in May. When I tried the heater a month later it didnt work. So I took it to a dealership to have it repaired. I have the extended warranty so it would have been covered. Only to get a call saying that it is within the 90 days and I need to take it to carmax. So I called carmax and was told it would be 3 weeks to get it in. I going to take it out of town for 2 weeks and stated that by the time I get back it would be past the 90 days. They said lets document it and it will be still covered. Ok get back from trip and take it in. Only to get a call stating that they couldnt find anything wrong. Must be an intermittent problem. It must be because it only work for you and nobody else. I explained what the dealership found and he said that i should take it back there to get it fixed. So not only did I have to pay for the original diagnosis from the dealership I now have to go back and pay it again. That tells me that carmax service department is incompetent and or too lazy to fix it. I wouldnt take anything in there even an oil change. Dont trust them.

Paid $399 to have C-300 shipped from Virginia Beach to Tallahassee. After concluding the deal I drove the car home (65 miles one -way) Only later did I discover a gash on the front bumper and some other damage. Any care professional would have spotted the place in a second. I returned the car the next day, but no one there suggested CarMax could possibly ship the car to Gainesville to be repaired. Had that happened I would have kept the car. It was later as I was preparing to leave that the associate told me they would ship it to Gainesville to be fixed???? (Meanwhile, my wife bought an E-300 from you a few days before this, which she likes a lot,)What is the agreement and terms of service listed below? I thought this was an evaluation not an agreement? Please explain what you want me to agree to? Until then, I am not agreeing to anything.

I brought a suv online from car max the car was originally in Alabama and was sent to Tallahassee the process was smooth. As soon as I set the car to delivery I was contacted by Emmanuel a sales rep. He helped me with car max care and also financing. He was clam and collective the whole time when my wife got irrate, and he was able to clarify some confusion. Emmanuel really made the process smooth with getting pre-approved I was in and out in 5O mins and that’s with insurance and brand new tag which he installed. Car max is the way to go they have a nation wide selection and if your in Tallahassee ask for Emmanuel he’s a great sale rep and all around genuine person.

These people don’t give a dang about customer service! My car was delivered 4 days before I went to sign the paperwork. It wasn’t touched. Not washed, no gas, the person who went to the back to retrieve the vehicle rolled the window down and dropped some small metal box that was hanging on the window down on the door causing a ding! During signing the paperwork, I told the salesperson he had the wrong county and he said it doesn’t matter. Well, it did. I live 1.5 hours away and so far have had to make 3 trips down to Tallahassee bc of problems. Would NEVER recommend.

You know, right when they’re printing off the documents for the purchaser to sign. The manager waited until I stepped outside to grab a proof of residency to tell the employee that I couldn’t get the vehicle due to me mentioning that I Uber in my free time. She heard me say that in the beginning- why wait until the very end to tell someone that they cannot get a car. That was very bad management and very poor customer service. Please work on managing skills because not only did you have me late to get my kids from school you also delayed time on helping other customers. By watching us go through every step then waiting to tell the employee that “hey I heard she mentioned Uber that’s commercial use and that’s a disqualification.” That was so much time wasted and very poor managerial skills. I saw the car I wanted at the Plano, TX CarMax online and had it shipped to my local. I was notified as it was moved and when it arrived. I went to CarMax at the appointed time and everything went smoothly, test drive and purchase. No surprises or upselling, you pay what you see on the sticker plus the $399 service fee. About 3 days later the car developed a rumble in the front left wheel, I called CarMax and they scheduled me for their service department and the same day I dropped it off they returned it repaired (bad wheel bearing) with no cost and no hassle. The Tallahassee CarMax has been great, I wouldnt hesitate to use them again!

We paid the transportation fee to have the vehicle, Chrysler Pacifica stock number 20244045. Order number 134930 was delivered from Carmax in Delaware at 2070 Stafford Way, Newark, DE 19711 to Tallahassee but on the very next day, the manager at Carmax in Delaware decided to sell the vehicle we paid to put a hold on. This is something we found out on our own. We called Tallahassee as we didn’t receive an update on the vehicle delivery. This practice was beyond our comprehension. The Carmax in Delaware sold our vehicle because they wanted to make the sale that day. We were willing to pay a $15,000 down payment but this is how we’re treated. We’re both minorities and we feel this played a part in dealing with Carmax in Delaware. Carmax should provide us compensation for running my credit multiple times, and cause inconvenience. My husband uses a wheelchair and we needed this vehicle. Due to this incident, my husband missed many doctor’s appointments. Tallahassee branch wasnt proactive to ensure the delivery. This practice beyond our comprehension.

Bought two cars from the Tallahassee location in the past and was satisfied with the experience. Tried to buy a third and was very disappointed. The cars were substandard - damaged and one reaked of smoke. Staff attempted to mislead me on sales price attempting to mask it with other component of the deal. Overall - very dishonest now and poor quality cars. I could not in good conscience deal with themI walked over to the Toyota dealer next door and bought a car within 2 hrs of leaving carmax. - better price- better financing - better service - and far better car for the same money. I wont be a customer at Carmax any longer.

My husband & I purchased our vehicles through CarMax. Last year, he purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The experience for us was easy and completely stressless. We searched for months for a truck, then when my husband finally found it, we paid to have it transferred. The transfer fees are dependent on the location of the vehicle and trust me, it’s worth it in the long run.I just purchased a 2017 Toyota 86 and had it transferred from Knoxville, TN to this location. The car only had 3,500 miles though the ad said 4,000 cause the dealership rounds up! That was a nice surprise.For the process:I worked with Pamela Bonds initially over the phone to arrange the transfer. She was so sweet, answered all my questions, and made the process so exciting! She even confirmed that once I scheduled and paid the transfer, the car would be advertised as sold & held until I test drove the vehicle at the arrival location. It was quick too cause once I paid for it to be transferred, within minutes the car was no longer available on the CarMax app.Once it arrived in Tallahassee, I got a call to schedule a test drive. Rob greeted me at the dealership and assisted me with the test drive and paperwork. It was seriously the most stress-less experience I’ve ever had at a dealership.We bought my Ford car at a dealership and the negotiation, hassling, frustration almost caused us to walk away... we still weren’t happy when leaving.When looking for my husband’s truck, we went to a Chevy dealership and they kept showing us trucks that weren’t in our price range and the ones that should have been, were way over priced. It was such a waste of our time. We left dissatisfied with the service and dissatisfied that we wasted our time.We will NEVER buy another car anywhere else except CarMax. This is the way to go. First guy I dealt with (Older guy, cannot remember his name) was awesome. Walked me through everything. Had a vehicle shipped in and everything checked out except it had some damage and the color wasnt as desired.Had a second one shipped in, which was EVERYTHING I wanted. The salesperson requested that I do the online trade appraisal process, which I really didnt feel comfortable doing. The guy I dealt with (younger, Hispanic guy, tattoos on his forearms, dark hair) wasnt really happy about the fact that I didnt want to do it. The car that I had requested to be shipped in was on the site, but I never got to look at it, or test drive it. Sat me down at the desk and requested my financials out of the box. Left without buying it.If he didnt want to work with me and/or respect how I felt about a particular process, all he had to do was move me along to someone else. If I could remember his name, Id share but I eventually went to Daytona and found what I was looking for.

None of the typical car salesmen or practices. No manager in the back room to go back and forth with. You like the car? You like the price? Its yours. Dont like the price? Find something else. Everything is around KBB value so you know youre getting a good deal. My wife and I were in the market for a new SUV. Decided to visit Carmax to check out their selection in person. Only been here a few times since Im not a fan of their set up of entering the office area before you can actually get to the vehicle lot to look, feel, touch selection. However, staff we encountered were cordial, kind and friendly. Once on the vehicle lot, I discovered they had a wide selection of vehicles to choose from. Overall experience was very good.

He went to carmax. This waa one of the worst car buying expenses i have ever witnessed and been thru. I would not recommend This place to anyone. ever. Ever. They are unprofessional they dont stand but their word. They still havent corrected the defects to the vehicle here purchased. They are very unreasonable with correcting things within the 30 days allowed. They dont let you know what is needed to get approved honestly. I just wouldnt recommend them to anyone. The website lies about the qualifications. This place is out of Tallahassee Florida. Buyers beware.

It took us two days and a combined total of 9 hours (at the dealership waiting) to buy the car. We were registering the vehicle in another state and had two people there tell us that we still had to pay Florida Sales tax regardless of where we were registering it. One even went so far as to tell us its the law and is punishable. Not sure why he was so adamant about the whole thing. They made us pay for the vehicle before signing anything. After a few calls to multiple DMVs they finally realized they over charged and the sales tax wasnt supposed to be paid. They initially told us it would take 10-20 days for a check to be delivered for a refund. Eventually they did write us a check on site.The car got scratched by one of their people when removing the license plate. Initially they denied it but after showing them a picture the person said well it is possible. They said they were getting us an ink pen and it would take two days. Havent seen it yet going on three days now. No real rush but Ill follow up next week Monday.We had predone all the items needed but it was lost in the system so they had to do everything again manually.I will say this, Noah was very nice (and forgive me but I dont remember his boss) her name began with a T. She was professional, and did a lot to push some of the other sales folks away who seemed to be more interested in telling us that the sales tax was necessary. She did offer to buy us lunch, a total of $40 dollars, I need to e-mail them a receipt for reimbursement.There was a good trade in though for the vehicle we sold to them and that was a fairly painless and surprisingly quick process. I dont even think they drove the vehicle.The car itself is nice. It was reasonably priced. No issues with it. Our mechanic will look at it this weekend and see.Not really worth the hassle. I could have had the same price and treatment at a typical dealership. I wouldnt recommend CarMax at all.Oh and they put some stupid CarMax sticker on the back of my car.

Online experience was great. Store experience was decent. I wouldnt really bother with giving your information online youll most likely just have to do it again when you arrive to purchase or test drive. The whole process took hours and not 30 minutes as its advertised online. Staff were friendly the person whom I bought the vehicle from was nice, but they seemed confused about the appointment I had scheduled with them. Overall I give it a 4 because of its great online service and its better overall feel than a regular dealership.

Bought my vehicle in March 2020 at the Tallahassee, FL location. Had a great experience in purchasing it. No hassle, no haggle, no hidden fees, no pressure. You can easily walk away if you want to. Theres no pressure in buying it. What I liked most was I did about 90% of my transaction via the app. I was able to choose what I wanted, get pre-approved to see how much I qualified for, and the price that was listed didnt change once I got there. I even got a great deal for my trade in. The sales dept doesnt gain any commission, which is why theyre not pushy at all whether you buy from them or not. Only negative part I can think of is if/when you decide on a vehicle you plan to buy, do plan on staying there for 3+ hours. Everything went smooth on my end, but getting all the paper work done, signing things, getting copies of what you signed, them evaluating your trade, credit, etc. took a while. But, to be honest, I knew I was going to be pleased with my purchase, so it was worth the wait. Im def going to consider CarMax for my wifes car. Honestly, great experience.

Delayed our test drive fir week saying the van was not up to the Tallassee Carmax standards...we finally got to see the van a week later and was FILTHY INSIDE (greasy jack laying on carpet in back, reciepts from years ago in side pockets sticky brown spots on seats and tellow slime in back seats & smelled awful ) AND OUTSide looked like someone put whiteout on big scape on drivers mirror and many other dents scratches abd dings and overall filthy... Was worse car buying experince we have ever had.

Would rate lower if allowed as we pulled up to try to purchase an SUV. Man in a convertible speeds up to front door in with top down, music blaring the f word loud next to a small child. Walked in and said something he would not do anything about it. Then we were asked to leave by a car max either manager or salesperson. Unbelievable!

Could not have been more pleased with my car buying process. I felt very safe during COVID-19 as every employee had a mask on, there was a hand sanitizing station front and center, kiosks were arranged to observe social distancing and I was able to do most of the process online. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Pleasant and stress free!

Found a used BMW in Jacksonville on 9/16, was approved for it.Was to be transported to Tall carmax within 3 days. Did not arrive till 9/24. ( 8 days later)On 9/25 a 4,, 500.00 certified check obtained for a deposit,6 months of insurance PAID on the car of interest yet because as a Police Officer I get paid once a month, I was told I had to wait to have the car till the 9/30 instead of being able to get it today on 9/25.Because they have to have proof of pay within 15 days? Yet I have been approved for the loan.My 20 year career doesn’t count I guess.All good. Check can go back in the bank, insurance folks willing to reimburse & I will get a car elsewhere.All this after only being able to reach this establishment 1 time.ALL the calls you try to make to them go to call centers.I spoke to someone in NC & someone in Tenn. processed my application. ( approved, btw)Should have read these other reviews before dealing with them. A lot of poor ratings.

I live in south Georgia. I reached a sales representative in Tallahassee Florida. Try to reached out the next day, instead spoke with another representative who had a bad attitude. So I decided I was not happy with went down in Tallahassee so I called their Jacksonville location only to be caught in their call system. I have decided Carmax does not want my business. I was just trying to find a good outlet to sell my Honda Ridgeline; I loved the truck, but didnt need the third car on my insurance. CarMax made it fast and ridiculously easy to get an offer and sell the truck that day. It took less than an hour. While I have no experience with BUYING a car from them, the selling process could not have been better.

Both were in great shape, and we love the Toyota 4-Runner that we ended up purchasing. Absolutely fantastic service! We drove from Panama City for a specific vehicle, and due to unforeseen circumstances we were going to be very late for our appointment. We called ahead and spoke with Louis and he began paperwork and set things in motion. We got there 20 minutes before closing, test drove the vehicle, signed the papers and left by 7:20!! Will definitely be doing business with CarMax again! They made it a very easy experience for us as first time buyers.

They didn’t have an option for a 1/2 a star but I would have chosen it.My experience with carmax was shocking to say the least. I purchased a vehicle 12/7 and 4days later had to return it due to it being infested with roaches and bugs. I mean I ordered food and on the drive home the roaches just began coming out all over. It was so disgusting and grotesque. I brought then vehicle 12/11 and spent the whole day trying to resolve these issues. I mean I was there from opening and the last person to leave the location in Tallahassee. Only to be given a loaner vehicle and promised they would tea the vehicle to a “professional” bug extermination company to get rid of the roaches. Not a day later I received a call that they needed to keep the car till Friday a whole 5 additional days to guarantee there work. I agree and on Friday mid-day I call to get the status of the vehicle and they tell me its ready to be picked up on Saturday. Before going in on Saturday I call before arriving only to be told by a gentleman that my vehicle wont be done till Monday. (*Note: Ive already been in touch with there customer care and other customer care depts.*) on Monday morning a customer care rep lady calls to follow up how the vehicle is treating me, and I explain I still havent received my vehicle and explain what Ive been told she places me on hold calls Tallahassee (Tennessee St. location) and then tells me I can get my vehicle today. I go there and the gentleman has no knowledge of me and proceeds to sells me a new car...🤦🏽‍♀️ I tell him I already have a car and Im here to pick it up. After speaking to 3 different gentlemen. A nice Manager Women-qbo recognized me from the first day came over to help I explained everything again. And she assisted me in getting the vehicle. She took me to the vehicle after she said they were finishing cleaning it. She told me to inspect the vehicle with her... When we did we both saw the vehicle hadn’t been clean and when I opened the trunk there were roaches, I told her to look for herself and she began to apologize. I told her at this point how could anyone trust CarMax and I dont want anything more to do with them. She explained that there was no professional extermination company that it was a detail service they do there at the location that has some knowledge of pest control. I told her then why was I lied to and I dont even believe that because then why is my car that has been with you all this time not been detailed. She just apologized again. I told her I wanted the jeys to remove there so called “MaxCare” from my loan so I never have to see or do business with them again. She advised she would remove it. And try to assure me of its benefits, Which I reassured here if you couldnt keep your word and fix these concerns I can only imagine what type of service I would of received for a major one. I have to say my overall experience with Carmax was regrettable and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.... Do better CarMax! Much Better!

I was looking to sell my 2015 mini roadster so I could purchase a new mini in Jacksonville, but I was told it would be a waste of my time and theirs since I wasn’t buying a vehicle from them. Apparently the terms have changed and I was not aware that they will only buy your car if you plan on buying a used vehicle from them . Good riddance!

The dealership never sent my information to the bank to be processed. They don’t answer calls from the phone number that’s made public. I had to drive back to the dealership with the bank on my phone because the dealership never answered. This was the only way that I got everything processed.
