Never again. They will absolutely 100% lie to you regarding the type of work you need done on your car. Honestly it doesn’t even seem to matter which pep boys location you go to (the Broadway location is just as shady and dishonest). I have had them tell me that I needed several repairs that would cost me well over $1500, only to have Sun Devil auto check my car (at no cost) and tell me that nothing was wrong. The last time I unfortunately went to this location for an oil change, the people were pretty rude upon my arrival. By the end of my visit the manager threw my services papers at me along with my keys. I complained to corporate about my experience and the dishonesty but, there really isn’t anything that they could possibly do for me to ever make me go back.
Would definitely recommend this place to everyone! Our A/C went out in the middle of summer and we were looking at a $700 repair (which we could not afford at the time). Pep boys (knowing how vital A/C in August in AZ) managed to repair it for a little under $300!!!! We are so grateful to Jerold and the whole Pep Boys crew at this location....thanks guys!!!!
This is the worst place to ever bring your car. To diagnose your car is $100!!!!!??? And a basic oil change is almost $100 as well! Why would you ever give this place your business if you could go down the street and get better service at HALF the price. I cannot believe the scams this place gets away with. How do they sleep at night?
They’re gonna ask you to drop the car off regardless if you have an appointment or not. The prices are outrageous and the employees are crack heads. You’d be better off giving your car to Walmart
Made an appointment for 10:00am on Saturday the 28th for an oil and brake fluid change. Upon my arrival I was told that 2:00 was the soonest my car could be done. I said 1:00 was the latest I coul stay. I went back at 1:00 and car still not done. Was informed they needed another 30 minutes. My biggest question is how a 10:00 appt for a couple of minor services can stretch out to mid afternoon?? Clearly making an appointment didnt matter as they skipped over me several times.
This is the worst place to check your A/C. They told me that my compressor has a leak and my A/C condenser to be changed. The problem is that my compressor was overcharged and went to a local shop to fix evac and recharge, and it was fixed. I recommend checking other mechanics before working with them.
Such a bad experience took my car to get it fixed they did not fix my car took my $722 dollars the manager yelled at me and my sister and banged on his desk called Pep boys they told me they would call me in 48 hours on Friday and I still haven’t got a call not just that but the manager is sending me to ammco to check what is wrong with it because he doesn’t know what was wrong with my car but still will not give me my money back do not go here they will take your money! The manager here is so rude and disrespectful and apparently a lot of people have complains about this Jerold guy
(Added 6/30/22) Read the entire thing, because there is a bad experience and an excellent experience.They were not ready for my online appointment and told me that the company does it on purpose to attract customers to the store. Had to go on two different days. The second appointment took much longer than anticipated. They added charges that were not informed to me previously. The good thing: my tires were really brand new, manufactured only three months prior to installation.On the other hand:Today, 2 weeks later, my dirtshield became dislodged and it was rubbing against the road, making the car impossible to drive for long distances. I happened to be a few blocks from the same store and I had no choice but to slowly drive my car there and implore for help. Luckily, they didnt recognize me. But they immediately helped me, fixed my problem, and did not charge anything. All of that in 15 minutes. Amazing. The name of the hero is Jorge. I am now giving them a 5 and averaging the two scores.
Terrible service.. everyone seemed confused and had no idea what was going on. I was quoted $850 to replace a radiator. Radiator cost $100 which means they wanted to charge me $700 for labor. This is a one hour job. Absolutely terrible pricing and service. I will never do business with Pep Boys.. especially this location. Zero customer service. Every employee seemed high strung and like I was a bother coming in to request service. I scheduled in advance online stating in detail the work I needed done and when I got there they were confused what I needed. Something is missing from a customer service standpoint and a logistical stand point. As a business owner, I would never in my wildest dreams dare treat a customer with the level of disrespect and incompetence I experienced today. I would rate this place zero stars if it was an option.
What is the point of being able to schedule an appointment if when you get there they say they probably won’t be able to fit you in that day (appointment at 11am). At the very least they could communicate they are running behind before driving there
Stopped in today because I had a screw in my tire. I called beforehand to check if I needed an appointment or not and was told to just come in. Got there and was assisted by Kevin... really nice gentleman who assisted me promptly, with my tire. Also decided to get my oil change there. I literally walked to the store across the street came back waited maybe 10 minutes and all was done and well. I’ve found my new car home! Good customer service and prompt service goes a long way and speaks volumes...thanks guys:)
Had my tire blow out, and had it towed here. It took 4 days for them to reach out to my insurance for approval, only for them to deny it and to advise I spend $600 on two tires.Greg, the service manager, doesnt seem to have any idea whats going on with his technicians; and was unable to answer even the most basic questions like Has anyone looked at my car yet? or Whats the damage to the tire? I was met with 0 accountability and loads of deflecting when confronting him about these issues.If you need to get maintenance done, take your car elsewhere. 4 days for a tire is unacceptable under any circumstance.
The short guy with a goatee who seems to be the manger is just flat out rude he doesn’t care about anything. He’s attitude is nasty. Went in for an inspection and he was rude from the gecko. Get in let me finish a sentence and kept interrupting me. He told me it doesn’t mean anything if I have an appointment. & I would have to leave my car for an inspection that takes an hour or less. Like are you kidding me and he wanted me to come back some other time to do a different inspection keep in mind I was the only one there. Never been treated so bad even the employee there was so confused and irritated with the short guy with the goatee.
It was raining today we went over there to try to get some windshield wipers I went to five different places they told me to try to come here the guy running the register he said no I said well I was recommended to come here this guy was the rudest person wasnt very helpful and then my mom got upset and asked him can I please get some wipers and my moms walking in and seeing if she says we need to get wipers I cant see finally he went to look for some wipers assume like you charge us like so much $55 for some wipers we went to other places they were only 25 to $27 but we needed wiper so bad at the same time didnt want to help put the wipers on he complained and threw the wipers in the floor and then you ask the mechanic to do it and the mechanic didnt want to do it was like they were arguing about to put some wipers on here it was very uncomfortable feeling I never go back there again I cant believe this guy would having a job

I was surprised to learn that they no longer have a retail store. They are only open for repair services. I made an appointment to have an oil change and tires rotated. They were very friendly and took my car in on time. They were finished with it in a little over one hour. Very pleasant experience. I will continue to patronize Pep Boys for my future auto service needs.
Easily the worst store ive ever had service done at.. I live in the apartments next door so i thought it would be convinient to have my oil change done there.. I set up an APPOINTMENT at 8 thinking my car was gonna be out of there in an hour.. 2 hours passed and i still heard nothing so i called and they tell me its barely next after 2 hours, and a rescheduled appointments elsewhere that i had for 10.. after another hour they call and i get there and they tell me they havent checked the intake air filter which i asked them initially to do so.. 3 hours later and i still dont have my vehicle the people on the phone were rude and service helper unknowledgable about what he was saying.. the convinience of being able to sit at home while i wait for my car has been overshadowed by the extremely poor system being run by this facility.. they have forced me to look elsewhere.. Im a technician myself and went to UTI so you cant tell me what good and poor service is in this industry. please take your business elsewhere!! at all costs! needs 0 stars not 1.. they will take your car and render it useless for the entire day for a simple oil change, living across the street i thought theyd be thrilled to have their first vehicle have colder oil to get right at it.. they forced me to come in and wait for them here at the store for hours just because they made me think it was ready and forgot the air filter which together should be a 30 min job for labor.. THEN they come back and tell me they dont even have the intake air filter so i waited over an hour for them to tell me they didnt have the part.. you decide if you want to give them any business!

Everyone that works here is always so friendly. I came in for a new tire and installation and the store manager Rudy was so helpful and patient with me even though I could tell they were super busy. I never leave stressed because I know my car is in good hands. I definitely recommend this place and will be coming back!
Worst pep boys ever! First off no restroom for paying customers and well as the front desk guy when you walk in is completely rude and needs better management I will never be returning to this pep boys location.
The employees are very very friendly. Want to give a shout out to Kevin P. Honest person. Told me roughly how long it would be & it was spot on. He told me he was off 2 days so I set my appt. for sunday but went ahead & changed it for Friday. They will be seeing again in the future

This place is AWESOME! I came in an emergency maintenance request where it had to be done TODAY as I was notified at the last minute.I called 5 other locations and some were matter of fact, some pushed me off I called this location and spoke to Rudy and he said I can get you in today and the wait time which was not long for a last minute appointment.They also checked the car thoroughly for things that could have really been a problem as I need my car for work. This really made my day and I greatly appreciate the great service from Rudy, Jorge and Yuri!
I am very curious to know when the retail side of this store will open? Johnny the parts manger are awesome! They are very friendly, helpful and the store is always neat and organized. I have bought several hundred of dollars worth of parts from this place and I need my pep boys store to be open. Can you tell us when this will happen?
Rudy and Kevin were so helpful, and very nice during this time they help me fix my A/C . They noticed my tires were low and even checked the pressure. I will definitely come back for there services!!! I totally recommend it!!
Creighton was extremely professional and kind! I dropped my car off for a quick oil change and tire rotation and had trouble finding a Lyft or Uber home due to app complications. Little to my knowledge they are able to order you a Lyft for you to home and back to the service center! They just add it to your service fees with no extra charge besides the price of the Lyft. 100% love 10/10
The worst experience I’ve ever had, my engine coil was in poor shape and my car was driving 20 mph. I was driving around to multiple pep boys trying to get it fixed since I had that and my spark plugs installed about nine months earlier so it was still under warranty. Most of them has their tech leaving so I kept driving to others. I found one, They took almost two hours to give me an estimate and quoted me 1100 dollars, 900 after the warranty. They were trying to replace all coils and spark plugs and include labor for that. I asked them to just fix what was covered under warranty and I’ll do the rest at a later time. Staff and manager were arguing with me.I finally left because I felt uncomfortable and they were not helpfulI asked a former co worker to look at it later that evening he said the main problem was the 1 coil and we went to an auto part shop and found one for my car for fifty bucks-they were charging 180 for parts and to install. My friend works on cars and installed the coil in TWO minutes.! They were charging over 100 for a two minute job and trying to multiple that by 4 for all 4 coils.I’ve never been so upset and felt so scammedThankfully my friend fixed it and I just took him to dinner to thank him. The repair cost 50 bucks and they were trying to charge me 900.I called customer care to report the treatment and the store called me back I guess after receiving the complaint and said the coil under warranty was not the one in the worst shape-that was never told me to at all. They just said well that’s a temporary fix they should all be replaced.The manager tried to offer me a free oil change but I’m good, I don’t need their service.I will find a better company.
Rudy helped me out first thing in the morning with getting a battery exchanged. Explained everything clearly and easily to me!! Amazing service after a previous location sent me back to the original store where I purchased the battery!!
As always, I had a great experience here! I received nothing short of great customer service! Their prices are very fair, in fact, I paid less than half of what Hyundai was going to charge for the same service. My car was in and out in a short amount of time. I highly recommend coming here and am looking forward to continuing to come for all future needs!
Dont make appointments online, call the store to make appointments. Online will schedule whenever you want but ends up double booking into of what is scheduled causing my car waiting 3 hours to get oil change started, then when I needed a new tire that added another hour.... Employees have no sense of urgency, from mngr on down slow with not a care in the world.
We took our Lexus to Pep Boys for an oil change and a transmission flush. Kory helped us with the process. We felt well taken care of. Jorge did an excellent job on the work that was performed on my wifes car. We are very happy customers and highly recommend this particular Pep Boys.
Worst experience Ive had with a business. My vehicle was taken in for an oil change, later im told it has to be kept because my oil pan is cracked, after three days I go to get my car and I have a number of items including a paddle board, Oakley sunglasses, my vape?! Jackets, and my work vest missing from my car! I spoke with pep boys only to be told they would take it up to loss prevention which resulted in nothing be done. Approximately $2000 in personal items taken from my vehicle, and I get a $700 bill for the work done to my car.
Some of the auto repair personnel are not friendly at all,i would say they rude but not all odf them. But the sales team are very helpful

Kevin and Rudy were very helpful and had extraordinary service. Came in with a problem caused by another company and they fixed it without any problems as well as explained what was wrong with the car. By far best Pep Boys experience Ive had and will continue to come into this location.
First thing, I call to confirm my appointment and they said they have no record of it. I call the support center for help. They have a record of the appointment and put me on hold for 15 minutes so they can confirm it with the store. I show up with my confirmation email and the shop said I’m not on the schedule. They also ask me the size of the tires. I said I have no idea, I don’t do this for a living, you do though. Needless to say after clearing that up. I have been sitting here for 2 hours to change 3 tires. This store is a joke.
I had a great experience getting my front left axle fixed on my 2010 Toyota Corolla. Rudy was very kind despite the anount of work that was clearly on his plate and gave me a great price on the repair. I would definitely go back!
I had an oil change here recently. Not only did they fail to reset the sensors so my car doesnt say I need service every time I start it, but they also failed to notice a nail in my tire, despite the fact they filled the tire and TRIED TO SELL ME AN ALIGNMENT. They clearly were more focused on getting people out the door than offering the service they advertise.
Came in after going to three different places that either were not helpful or didn’t carry my battery. The guys at Pep boys were super helpful and really quick!
Had an issue 3 months ago with appointment times. Manager told me to give them another shot. So I had an appointment at 9 am today. When I got there was told there is only 1 tech and they couldnt get to my car till 2 or 3 PM. I told the guy I cant wait that long I had a 9am appointment. He told me appointment times are just to get you in the door. So he verified that appointment times mean absolutely nothing to them. Asked him if he could just call me when they are ready for my car because I cant be without my car for that long as I use it for work. He said they cant so that. So i will never be back to this location. Wish o could give them 0 stars.
Highly recommend this location!! Had an issue with a warranty service and repair at the Pep Boys on N. Higley in Mesa so we brought our car to this Pep Boys -- incredible. Had 11:30 appointment for oil change, 12:30 my car is still not in a bay. Apparently this is acceptable and common at this Pep Boys. Not for me.Had an 8am appointment but no mechanic till 930.I also had an issue to be diagnosed, but apparently the mechanic for that isnt available except for certain days of the week.. store must be closing soon.
Ive been going to this store for 40 years or close to it. Hasnt changed much. Still the biggest parts store in the area, still a busy shop. People have always been nice and helpful. Even though I live farther away now I still come here when the understocked competitors dont have what I need.

Had a horrible experience! Had an appt for a simple oil change, showed up 15 minutes early. Was told my car would be next into the bay, but an hour and half and 4 cars later, I was still waiting for my car to even be pulled in. Had to leave without the oil change and the asst manager didnt even offer a convincing apology. Will NOT ever go back there!
I had a wonderful experience. Rudy was amazing! He helped to fix my tires but also did a thorough check to make everything else was safe enough to drive. They were busy when I came and they were still able to get the job done quickly. Definitely worth all five stars!!!
Update 9.13.2019I ended up having my tires shipped to the house and I delivered them to the store and they installed them and gave me a discount on a tire balance. They worked to try to make things right in the end...........I tried to go here to have tires installed I ordered through Amazon. After arriving for the appointment I waited 40 mins. to hear them ask where my tires are at. They lost the tires not once but actually twice. The third time I had the tires delivered to my house and took them to another store for install. Nothing but pure incompetence. They always put it back on me to find the tires that were lost even though the tracking showed them delivered to the correct address and signed for.
The staff at pep boys were extremely helpful! They checked my battery for me and changed it in under an hour! They also gave me a student discount and an air freshener for being nice. The man who cashed me out was super kind and fun to talk to! Would def recommend for your car needs
I had some shady behavior happen at this location. Took my wifes car here yesterday because it began vibrating >50 mph. Assumed it was a tire issue, so we took it here as it was the closest and only place open. We left it overnight due to the shop closing upon arrival. We get a call this morning from an employee, Creighton, recommending a new tire, alignment and a battery. Totalling $437. We recently had the battery changed, probably less than 6 months ago, so I was already suspicious. We decided to have it towed to another mechanic. Upon paying the $22 for the inspection, Creighton tells me your car may not start pulling it out of here.Again, havent had any issues with the car other than the vibrating. I get in the car which was already started and the Check Engine Light and DCS Light are on. Neither of which were on yesterday. I pull in to a parking spot to wait for a tow truck. I tried starting the car again just to double check and conveniently the car wont start. I go back to ask, and he reports the check engine light may have come on due to a bad battery. Ive had plenty of bad batteries and have never had that happen. He even asked if I wanted to pull it back in to check again (Really? Lol).I ended up just waiting for the tow truck to take it to the other shop.Shady. Avoid this place at all costs.

Honest and fast service. Went here to get a second opinion on a necessary service from the dealership that was going to cost $1000. Pep Boys looked at it and identified no real issues. Glad I had them look at it before spending all that money for nothing.
Came in without an appointment, Rudy helped get my car looked at in a timely manner and the repair costs were low. I will continue to bring my car here as the entire experience was painless and relatively affordable. Come in and ask for Rudy as hell make sure youre taken care of.

Found exactly what I needed, when I needed it. The guy was cool about helping me find the product I needed, and actually took the time to walk me to the product I needed. I had questions about one brand versus another, and he had the answer. Dude was cool, and if I ever need anything for my car in the future as far as accessories, thats my spot while Im here in Arizona.
This place should be your last or never option. They have -0 service. They work as if they are forced to. They don’t care at all. So far chandler and Scottsdale are better off if you looking for a better service. 0 star from me.
Brought in our promo car for an alignment Konrad offered free brake inspection to check if there is any issue with the front end before doing the alignment. After about 10 min Jorge and Konrad took me inside the shop to show me issue with the rotors. Also Rudy offered me online rebate for brake job and gave me discount on alignment to fit my budget. Thumbs up team Pep Boys! Definitely will come back in near future (:
Had a wonderful experience here! I needed a tire and Konrad helped me immediately. He fou d the right price and tire for me. He made me feel like a real VIP!!! The service was efficient and professional. They checked all of my tires and and when I drove off the ride was smoother than when I got there. Rudy was also very helpful and they did it all with a smile, I would have never thought to go there for a simple fix but it was no pressure and worth it!!!

They had the type of oil I needed for my car and it was affordable enough that I could buy it. So congrats on that, I guess. The only weird thing is how loud your shoes will be as you walk through the store. Its not sticky or slick, but whatever they use to clean/wax their floor makes each step a cacophony of noise. Not bad enough to make me not shop their, just really odd.
Went in to have my battery replaced and they said it would take one to three hours because they were busy.I thought it was i bit long for a simple job but I understood and saidOK and went home to wait. They said they would call when it was ready. After two and a half hours I had not been called so I called them. They said it was done it just needed to be tested. I though to myself this was odd because I bought a new battery and all they had to do was put it in, so I went back down to wait since they said it almost ready. When I showed up they had not even started. Not cool.
This place has saved my butt yet again. I didnt know but you can call the pep boys store and have a tow service. They have to take it to a pep boys but it was cheaper than most I found online. I was a pep boys member so in the end it was only $25 and it was added to my repair bill. I talked with Rene and he was super nice. Gorge was my mechanic and he is a god send! I was quoted a price and it wasnt bad but in the end gorge took the repair one step at a time and fixed the issue with having to do anything extra. The cost was dropped buy a couple of hundred dollars. Ive taken my car here a few time and never been really disappointed. They are always super busy but they try to make you a priority.

I personally have had good experiences and so did my wife - on three separate occasions. They do get busy, which is normal because of their location in Tempe. So prepare for that. Ive had small repairs done for free as well. (Thank you Robert for your extra efforts on my vans headlight too- excellent). Just my humble opinion here. Thanks.

He made me see that customer service isn’t dead. He did the work himself to ensure that I wouldn’t have a long wait and I can’t thank him enough. I would go back and recommend this shop to anyone seeking good service and professional work.
I recently had my tires rotated and balanced at a different Pep Boys location, but was still feeling significant vibrations in the steering wheel when I was driving home. It was getting late and I had to make a long drive out of town the next day, so I frantically called around to several Pep Boys trying to find someone to look at my tires before they closed. The guys at this location squeezed me in at the end of their day, and even stayed late to do a thorough evaluation of my tires and suspension, and to re-balance my tires. Thank you!
Conrad and Jorge did an excellent job in shaping my experience for the best by diagnosing my car effectively for all problems and opportunities that existed prior to my cross-country trip from Arizona to Georgia. They were able to fix my car in a timely manner and provide especially accurate estimates for the time the work would take. I value the teams experience! Thanks Conrad and Jorge. In the past, I have also received great assistance from Ryan who was able to ensure that my Dodge Durango was road-ready for a trip internationally. Bought tires on Amazon and had shipped here for install. Took 3 hours to mount and balance 4 tires. People were nice but slow.
I used to get great service at this location but, since they’ve hired conrad ( the service manager) my experiences have been less than positive. Recently I went to get a quote to have my shocks replaced. Conrad quotes me 710 dollars, it seemed high to me. So I go to pep boys on Scottsdale road and Thomas and they quote me 296 dollars. Basically Conrad tried to charge me double. I won’t be going to this location again.
I went in with a specific need in the store area. It was relatively busy, but I was greeted immediately with a cheerful greeting and a smile from one of the gentlemen behind the counter. I indicate what I was looking for and was directed towards my goal. The store was clean and well lit. All my needs were met for my visit. I will be going back to this location in the future.
Pep Boys had just the car battery I needed and their service manager was a real pleasure and very helpful. Since my battery flat failed, they fit me in without an appointment. Excellent price on the battery. Will use them again if needed.
I went in today I had an appointment at 11 I messed up on my part and thought it was at 12 ill take blame for that but they said they would call me never did I tried calling the number was no good or they said they were already closed showed up at 12 said they could fit me in I left my car there retuned at 5:30 they never called me to update me on anything returned again at 7:30 they could help me cause my car was to low I guess never got the help I wanted all could of been avoided if I was kept updated and just told from the beginning that they couldn’t help me rather than my car just sit there since 12 till closing me thinking it was all good and ready if they were just straight up with me I could have gone to get actual help now I wasted a day with out my ride take more time to find help. Over all store looks clean well kept staff friendly and they apologized witch was nice of them maybe just an off day things happen I guess

I had a nail in my tire, went to pep boys, and one of the employees there was gracious enough to patch my tire up for free!! I was in a bit of a rush so I couldnt get the tire replaced immediately but he told me the patch would last around a month and it did. I came back to get my tire replaced and I got a 10% discount! They give 10% discounts to all ASU students!!! I have nothing but good things to say about pep boys and the staff that work at this location. They were all very nice and extremely helpful.
Great customer service! My car had broken down and they helped me set up a tow, looked at my car as soon as it arrived, and fixed the problem. I was in and out in a short amount of time, and every employee was so kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this store and am looking forward to returning for any future needs.
Came here for alignment and suspension work. Mechanics name was Dave and he was so knowledgeable and did an amazing job on my car. He’s definitely talented in what he does. Had a great experience here at pep boys
David Stump and Jacob both took the time to take amazing care of me and my car. I was in and out in very little time with my car fixed, and it did not break my bank. I couldnt be more happy with the service there, and will definitely recommend this location to anyone who asks.Thanks guys!

I generally only stop into a place like Pep Boys when I need immediate help with a fairly minor problem. From now on, that place will always be this Pep Boys. My daughters car had a dead battery. We got her car started and drove it to Pep Boys to have the battery analyzed and possibly replaced. They were pretty busy but managed to squeeze us in with very little wait. The tech thoroughly checked the battery and charging system, and when I discovered my daughter had left a reading light on for almost a week, it made sense that everything checked out good, the battery just needed a charge. The tech put some charge on the battery and then told us we didnt owe anything. What? 30 minutes of a techs time, a diagnostic check of the battery and charging system, and a partial charge, for free? That seemed so very old school courteous. Love it. Ill come back in my next crisis. Thanks, fellas!

Went in to get a headlight changed on my sons car before a long drive back to Colorado. The burned out headlight was in a really awkward spot and we couldnt get to the bulb. It was close to the end of the business day on a Sunday and all the mechanics were busy, but the assistant manager Rene came out and changed it himself, making sure my sons drive home would be a safe one. Thank you for quality service and kindness!

I showed up without an appointment and they still took care of me in a timely manner. The staff was friendly and professional. Talking with the mechanics was very easy and they were able to show me what was going on with the car. Great location.
Rudy the service manger and the Pep Boys crew are awesome. Was visiting town and had a big day planned with the 3 year old nephew then had the day stifled by a bad battery. Though he was already pretty dang busy Rudy offered to take of the battery though labor was free of charge. He got us turned around quickly and hooked my nephew up with some skittles for being a good sport while waiting. Obviously 5 stars.
