Highly recommend the team at Tempe Auto Repair and especially Gilbert for investigating the mystery sound coming from my Class B Van.I first spoke with Jake in the early AM. He said, Come back around noon. We will get you in and see what the issue is.I returned and within minutes they were ruling out possible problems.Within 30 minutes they came to a conclusion that the issue is with the leaf springs.From start to finish they were thorough and got me back on the road. My ac compressor basically imploded in the 117° weather. A friend recommended Tempe Auto Repair. I dropped it off to them on a Monday evening right before they closed and it was fixed by 2pm the next day. These guys are tops in my book!

I feel like this is a pretty honest smaller shop. Ive been bringing my Honda Accord in for the past couple of years and they complete repairs at a fair and honest price. The guys arent there to take your money just for the sake of it. If theyre giving you an assessment of your vehicle, then they have a reason to beleive that what theyre going to fix makes sense to fix it. Anyway, I think this is a good shop, and I would recommend.

Disappointed to say the least. They told me it would be free to check my AC system, then told me I had to replace the system and a couple other things costing $1700. When I said I wanted to get a second opinion, they charged me over $100. My second opinion told me they added freon and messed up my system worse, that I didnt have to replace entire system, and just my fan, filter and unit needed to be bled and filled again with freon. Compressor and condenser were fine. Glad I got a second opinion. My AC is too cold now

My first impression: this place looks shady! I wasnt sure I wanted to leave my car here. They do good quality repair work and they didnt overcharge me.Also, which I know is not the case with some places, my wife brought her car here on my recommendation and not only did they not try to rip her off, they charged her less than her initial estimate.I am a repeat customer, and we will keep coming back.

I took my car thinking it was a bad fuel pump, they told me it was the más air flow, and when I got home got it replaced. My car has not been working since, plus my engine light was not on before taking it to them. Now its in, and i will have to pay again for an actual repair, they told me it was a free check and i ended up paying over $100 for nothing

I never post reviews, but have to say I’m super disappointed in my experience with Tempe Auto Repair, so felt the urge. The check engine light had been on for a few months in my Chevy Cruze. Nothing seemed functionally wrong with the vehicle driving it, but I figured I’d better go ahead and take it in to get it checked. I went to an AutoZone prior to going to TAR to get the codes. I called TAR with the codes prior to taking it in. The TAR man I spoke with on the phone, Jim, seemed to think the problem was related to a valve cover. He said in total he estimated the job would be around $200. After taking it there for the “official diagnosis” he informed me there was an issue with the intake manifold which would add an additional $500 to the repair plus labor, coming out to a whopping $1250. I was incredibly hesitant to fix the intake manifold but Jim assured me, “Well I do this every day, so don’t get upset with me if your engine light comes back on if you don’t fix what we advise you to fix.” I spoke with my husband and decided to go ahead with the repair. A mere 3 days after picking up my “repaired vehicle” the check engine light comes back on. I take it back to TAR and now they tell me there is an issue with both the turbo underboost as well as catalytic converter. These would cost an additional $2k to repair. I said no thanks. I’m taking my car somewhere else. I genuinely feel duped and ripped off. The lesson here folks, get a second opinion before spending hundreds of dollars at an auto repair shop! I won’t be returning to TAR.

Was from out of town had a motor miss with no service engine light on, took vehicle in for a service said it needed a new motor. Picked up vehicle from them drove it back to hotel never missed one time.. end up driving vehicle another 4400 miles with no issues back home after vacation.

This was the worst experience Ive ever had. They cheated me. When my drums were new, they needed to be turned, that was a lie. I have a feeling this business is about to go under. They used to be reliable, alot of business, now, they are very slow,wonder why. Not only did they charge me for nothing needed, they ruined my brakes. Cant even drive it. They tried to explain that they got used parts,makes me wonder if they dont do this all the time. Never again will I ever go there to get work done. This was the most horrible experience Ive ever had

I recently took my 4Runner in for a Check Engine light. Tempe Auto Repair was kind enough to take it late morning and check on the vehicle the same day. They said there would be the standard charge for the Check Engine scan and they would get back to me with the results.Not only did they get back to me quickly, but since the results were outside their shops normal scope of work, they waived the fee and suggested checking into another shop that specializes in exhaust matters.I really appreciate Tempe Auto Repairs honesty and quality work. Even when they refer the work out!Highly recommended.

I cant say enough about Tempe Auto Repair. They are hands down the best mechanics I have ever worked with. Jake is super dependable and honest. My son is a college student in Tempe and has taken his car here for regular maintenance, a front brake job, and to diagnose a possible battery/alternator issue. They are always prompt, honest, and perform quality work at a fair price.

Great prices

Walked in to get spark plugs and ignition coil replaced due to engine light having previously come on. It had since went off. Hose had come off from radiator. They said I needed an entirely new radiator when I knew there was a part they could have replaced on the radiator for a minimal cost $100 or so. $1200 dollars later, it is fixed. They initially quoted about $200 to replace spark plugs. The after work estimate was $400. These people are greedy. If you have lots of money, then Im sure they will take good care of you. I will never go there again.....ever....nor will I ever recommend them to anyone.

My S/O is able preform some of the minor maintenance on our vehicles. He had replaced a part but was still having an issue so we looked up and called a local auto mechanic shop to take it in. We received a quote for $908 to replace the cooling fan clutch. We picked up our SUV and immediately called a few parts store to which we were told the part was around $150. I understand that businesses need to make a profit for the doors to remain open. However, as the reviews here state (I guess I should have actually read through them) this company is price gouging.

I used to love coming here but cannot plan around nothing... Tried to set an appointment for an oil change but they don’t take them... tried to walk in and they had 1.5 hour wait. Why not take appointments then? We have lives and jobs we cannot plan on just waiting for hours...

This place is a scam! Decided to go from my normal mechanic, to this shop because it was close and had great reviews. I needed my brakes done to go to emissions on a vehicle I just bought. Turned out I was quoted $1330 for a brake job. Jim told me I needed a new master cylinder, brake booster, shoes, and drums. I spent $180 on parts and decided just to try to do it myself. Turns out my drums were perfect, since I bought them, I replaced them anyways. My brake shoes still had lots of life left. All the labor took me about 2 hours and i am no professional. Needless to say, Im sharing my experience. This shop will lie to you, and extremly overcharge. They are not honest, and I do not recommend anyone visit this shop. Find a business you can trust, this is definitely not one of them!

Victor and the mechanic were amazing! Thank goodness I took a used car in for a pre-purchase inspection with them. For $49.00 they were super detailed about everything large and small that was wrong with the car. I came back to the dealer with the estimates in the repairs and made them spend $1500 in repairs before purchasing the vehicle!

My AC was broken, and the owner could have fixed it and charged me hundreds of dollars. Instead, he literally went out of his way to call Hyundai and ask if my vehicle still had a warranty on it based on the amount of miles it had on it and the year it was. It did, in fact, and I was able to save hundreds of dollars. I didnt even realize I had that warranty because I bought my car from a used car dealership and they left that information vague. I also found out because of that I could fix the broken latch on my trunk. The owner, going out of his way, literally saved me probably like $500 or more dollars. He didnt even charge me for diagnosing the AC issue which was my compressor. Bringing all my business here for now on. What a fantastic place. Always warming to know people like this are out there who do great business.

Great oil change prices but I wouldnt go here for much more. Quoted me one price on brakes, then after the work was done, tried to tack on another $40. I refused and they made it right but its not my fault you misquoted me. Probably lost a customer

If I could give 0/5 stars I would. I found out about this shop from a coworker for my mothers car. She needed an oil change and had a squeeky fan belt. When she left she had an over $900 bill. They kindly drove her home, and picked her up. The driver who picked her up hit on her, discussed his $125 a week studio apartment, and asked for her phone number and he would pick her up later for drinks. Scary enough, this man now knows where she lives. When she left, her check engine light came on. And all they did was reset it. It came back on several hours later. When she got home I checked her oil, it was black. It had not been changed. I started the car, turned the ac on, and long behold! The fan belt was not fixed either.Never trust this shop, or the people who use you for the money. A poor older woman has now been ripped off, and still has a broken car.

Honest. Good mechanics. Dont try to push work on you. Do what has to be done and makes you aware of other issues.

Honest and knowledgeable.. my daughter took her car there with a mystery CLUNK coming from the front end. Id taken it to other places with everything from they couldnt figure it out to a shady guy telling me it was the lower c arms (which i knew it wasnt). anyways, she took it to tempe auto and they identified the real issue and fixed it without charge. it was an easy fix but still, they had the knowledge to identify the problem. No more clunk! thank you Tempe Auto!

This is THE place for all your automotive work. They will not sell you cheap parts, but, they will not sell you anything you do not need. They are fair, fast and friendly. My wife has been going to them for 25 years (16 for me). I have a 1994 Geo Metro with 210,000 miles that runs like a top because of these guys.

I have brought my aging car here twice and they have have fixed it to my satisfaction at a very fair price. I highly recommend this no-frills, no-upcharge shop. They get the job done and they are quick.

Very dishonest workmanship I took it in for a safety inspection and they told me I needed a radiator and I took it to another shop to get a second opinion and all I needed was a water hose and a clamp the radiator was fine it went from an $850 cost 2 $94 they also quoted me 2 tires for $394 and I bought four tires for $410 at Walmart and they were 10 ply 245 75 R16 with full warranties road hazard if they cant fix it they replace it free flat repairs and rotation all included

THEY WERE GOING TO THROW PARTS AT MY CAR. Timing belts and serpentine belts are really 2 different types of belts.So, I received this quote for battery cables, tires, wheel bearing, tune up, and timing belt upwards of $2300.00. They started working on the vehicle as I had signed off on some of the repairs. Jim called me for payment of the battery, battery cables, miscellaneous wiring. I paid him and also told him to start working on the wheel bearings and the tires- since he already had the card on file--- same day given. He tells me itll take him another week, so I go on with life. Jim failed to contact me, telling me that the vehicle was ready. I called him twice and was told hed call back. So one day, he calls me back leaves a message on a known wrong phone number with threats of impounding my car and placing a mechanics lien on it. So, after my neighbor gives me the message, I call asking what was this mechanics lien about.Long story short, I was not at all pleased with his demeanor, lied to him asking for a quote for the timing belt and a mount, having my vehicle towed over to We-Fix-It Auto the next morning. There, it was discovered that the battery cables, battery, miscellaneous wiring was in fact severed from the computer of the vehicle, lol. There was no issue with my timing belt and that Jim and this ridiculous place confused my serpentine and accessory belts with a timing belt, lol. The ACTUAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS werent electrical at all and were from vacuum leak/pressure shortage in the engine via gaskets. Not to mention the grand total differed drastically from $2300.00 with a wrong diagnosis from Tempe Auto Repair -TO- $1300.00 with a correct diagnosis from We-Fix-It. They used scan tools, ran pressure checks, etc-- really examined the vehicle.SMH. After the newly severed cables from the ECU that pulled codes before it saw this shop, lol, will be fixed lol and I am due to have my vehicle back by Wednesday.Thank you, Jim for leaving me that nasty, un-called for message. I am glad that you didnt process that 2nd payment and lost my (new) number. A mechanic that doesnt know the difference between a serpentine belt and a timing belt--- SMH. Thank you. Also, my timing belt cover hadnt been touched at all. This was the beginning of a nightmare. Mechanics throwing parts at people cars. I asked him to pull codes when we first spoke and he never provided me with one--- probably doesnt own a scan tool.Apparently, Jim saved me thousands :-D

My coolant was boiling over. Went in asked for a pressure test. They did not perform that, instead, without my permission did a block test. Told me I needed a new engine but will find me a used one. I was so confused BC my engine was running fine. Calling back n forth before I agreed to anything, the also said my water pump and head gasket also were bad. I had a feeling it was just my water pump. After they spewed out many lies, I felt it was my water pump and told them i will take it to some one else. I did. Guess what...water pump, radiator cap and hoses were my issue. The new place did a block test 2ce. My engine was FINE...in working order. I am a female and I look young. But I DO know my jeep and do not appreciate being lied to and manipulated. I was shocked they did this to me. Sad. Basically trying to steal 3k from me.

So to whomever said they left with a $900 bill...its because their car needed it and they said yes to the service. I also believe youre mom getting hit on was a big lie. We were looking for an auto repair shop, I googled and found this one that was close by, reading the reviews if sounded great.We took the car there for an eval on the a/c as it wasnt cooling well. The results: total system contaminated and needed replaced. $1250.00We chose to drive it a while longer as it was cooling somewhat.Coming home from a road trip yesterday the a/c completely stopped cooling.We decided to get a 2nd opinion on repairs at Red Devil. Their assessment: a hose was faulty and the freon was leaking out. Recommended replacement of hose and freon. $414.17We chose to go with Sun Devil. We now have a very COOL car.

Ive been going to these guys since I moved into the area. They arent the cheapest, but Ive always found them honest and pretty fast. I highly recommend them.

I had them replace my ac compressor and purge and refill my freon. Which they did well and only raised the price 10 dollars over the estimate which stuff happens I understand that but the day of the work they called me and told me that the low pressure line was clogged and they had to replace to the expansion valve or the evaporator core which is what the freon flows through as the fan pushes the air across it so the air that comes out of your car is cold instead of the temperature it is outside, which from what Ive read online happen sometimes with the expansion valve not so much with the core and the gentleman at the place even told me its very rare that the core would be clogged or bad, but they wanted $815 replace both or about half that for each I told him I didnt have enough money and to just leave it which they did didnt fight me on it which was very nice when I went to leave they told me since Im replacing the part of myself that I could bring it in Saturday and they would take the freon out and hold it while I replace the part because you cant release freon in the atmosphere which I thought was very nice the part that Im concerned about is that when I turned on my air conditioner it worked immediately so Im not accusing them of lying but it is suspicious that they said it didnt work and then it did work and as I was leaving they told me hey go ahead and flip it on a few times and it might unclog and work which could be construed as a way to cover themselves since I didnt take their work it could have happened just like they said in the first time it unclogged it or fixed it. again Im not accusing them of lying or anyting but to me it was very suspicious besides that everything was great they were very friendly I just Im really concerned about that last part. I normally do all my work myself but with air conditioning you have to have a very special expensive tool to load Freon and unload the old Freon it cannot be released in the atmosphere. I normally do all of my work myself Ive built 3 of my own supercharger kits I do some of my own welding metal work and work on my cars all the time so I feel that while Im not a Master tech I have a good understanding and ive been doing it since 2010. That is unless I dont have the tools and the tools I cant either rent or theyre too expensive too buy. again I just want to make it clear I am not outright saying theyre lying I have no proof of that and I want to believe that everything was done correctly and what they said was the truth and I just got lucky.

I came into Queen Creek from out of town to visit family. I started to have trouble as we pulled into Pheonix later in the evening. To me it felt like the transmission was slipping. I limped the our Tahoe to our destination and I was worried because it felt like serious transmission issues. As you can imagine we were 800 miles from home and worried thinking this was going to take days to repair especially since it was the weekend.I was referred to Tempe Auto Repair as the only place to go. It was late Friday night and I talked with Jake. He said he would pick up the Tahoe at 6am the next morning (Saturday) and would deliver it back later that day. He picked it up from the house on a flatbed. He didnt know what was wrong with it but was confident he would have it done. He did! It ended up just being plugs and wires and we were back on the road by 2pm that same day. He even delivered it back to the house. I was expecting something huge and expensive. Thanks Jake and crew for hooking us up on a weekend. We didnt miss more than 10 minutes of our time with family.

Mechanics get blamed for years of a cars problems so theyre kind of a moving target. Went to them years ago and went well. Today plastic shield under car became detached and was dragging on the ground. They got me in right away and out on 10 minutes...with no charge! Say what?? Thats right no charge. Got some preventative maintenance things coming up and they get it.
