I saw many good reviews about their coffee and yes I concur they offer nice drip coffee. Love their beverages served in message mugs which make a statement. We enjoyed the Cheesy scramble egg sausage English muffins. I must say I like the spicy tomato salsa that served on the side. Hoping to come back tomorrow for our breakfast.
Amazing! Mouthwatering selection, and we were definitely not disappointed with our orders. 5 stars ++ for quality👍👍GREAT atmosphere, and the proprietors and staff were so wonderfully friendly and attentive. Worth finding your way to when in Tempe! Best dining experience weve had in a long time. THANK YOU & Kudos to Romancing the Bean!! Top-Notch!
Great cafe and lunch spot. Good sandwiches, salads, and soup. Fantastic ice tea and coffee drinks. To die for house made baked goods - cookies and muffins baked fresh daily.
Great food! Great coffee! The service is the best around. Super friendly and is very proud of the coffee and food they are serving. Nice job crew!
Absolutely incredible experience. The owner is incredibly kind and attentive. I menu is best described as I want to try everything. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu in a Warm Croissant with jam on the side and I highly encourage you to try one of their croissants. For a drink the iced Mexican Mocha is my recommendation for something refreshing.
Every Friday. No exceptions. Grilled cheese. Just go.
Best cookies and muffins ever! Cute coffee shop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The breakfast smells and looks amazing. Will try when I have more time. Today was all about the desserts! Delicious coffee!
Definitely coming back here. I got the spinach/feta croissant. It was fresh and buttery. Loved it! Staff is friendly and everyone was interacting with customers. Great vibe and cozy café.
Amazing pastries, coffee and light eats. My favorites are the soups, ALL of them, the chocolate croissants and lemon bars
Grilled cheese tomato soup on Fridays are amazing! Also brownies are to die for
Robert and Louann Withers are two wonderful people. This review is long due.In 2018, we visited Arizona. The people at the hotel where we stayed informed us of this cafe, Romancing the Bean. The place was so clean and the people so welcoming. Once we came to know of this place, we kept going there every morning for our breakfast before sightseeing. My family got to know Louann and Robert as they took the time to speak with us every time we visited. On the last day Louann did something very generous. We had planned to visit Sedona, and so we packed some food to take with us to eat on our way from Romancing the Bean. When we stopped for lunch and opened our lunch bags to eat, we found some goodies that Louann had packed for us, and we were surprised as we had not ordered for them. There were three yummy cakes that she packed one for my husband, one for my son, and one for me. I was touched by her gesture. What meant most was that she didnt have to do anything for us, still she took the time to care.My son till date remembers this couple. They made us feel so welcome, it was like we knew them although we met them for the first time. Precious people. God bless them abundantly.
Best place ever...Excellent service Excellent food...Amazing
Nice little coffee shop close to Tempe Park. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nice outdoor and indoor seating. We had a white cheese croissant, muffin, brownie, cinnamon twist and coffees. All were good.
Love Love all of their food, especially the croissants, the baked goods and the atmosphere.
Absolute class acts working here! My go-to spot for a quick sandwich, haven’t been disappointed
This place was sooo nice and friendly. They make u feel like family and even have table service. The atmosphere is sophisticated and yet you feel at home here. I recommend romancing the bean. Also serves snacks to full meals. A true hidden gem!
I loved this cute little coffee shop! Went here on a date and the staff was very accommodating, kind and very attentive to us! Their coffee was strong...which I like (I got a latte)
These are the sweetest people and the food is just absolutely amazing!!
Great little coffee shop and lunch destination right off the lake in Tempe. You cant go wrong with anything on the menu.
What a nice coffee shop. Very friendly staff, a decent cup of coffee with some excellent pastries and shaded outdoor seating made our day. We will definitely be back. Thank you.One slight thing Id like to mention is we like strong dark roasted coffee and find in general that Tempe likes their coffee a bit flojo by our standards.
Such a fan of this place. Lots of regulars and everything I’ve ordered has been great. First time I ordered a rollo iced coffee, cinnamon rolls and crack bagel (bagel, cream cheese and bacon) - all were fire! I’m excited to try my turkey and Swiss croissant with raspberry sauce and the chicken dumpling soup! Will continue to go back!
Oooommggawwdd!!! Local family owned coffee shop found right off Mill Ave. This place is amazing!!!! Ive been coming here for years and theyve never dissapointeded. I always get the Iced Coffee - So good! Mexican Mocha iced coffee and add whipped cream. You guys, Im legit in heaven right now. Did I mention their pastries?! They are made fresh daily and are soo soo sooo goood!!!! Im snacking on a blueberry muffin right now and its just so moist. This is def one of the places you need to add to your list!
I deliver building materials. Was nearby delivering metal studs for a nearby fitness center. A crazy lady from this coffee shop came out an cussed out my crew very loudly. This was at like 5:15 am, before customers are even there.
Gazpacho is wonderful here! As is the service. Dark chocolate iced almond latte rocks.
Great spot with fun and conversation. Christina will make you smile and feel like youre the most important person to walk in.
Pretty cozy little spot next to the Tempe Town Lake. This place does get quite packed. They have limited seating- only one row of tables indoor with metal tables and chairs. When the weather is nice, however, you can also sit outdoors- they have 3 or 4 (?) tables with shade provided courtesy of a red umbrella (easy to spot).I have only tried one of their pastries. While it did taste fresh, it was a bit too sweet and the price was too expensive. Customer service though was very friendly, and the place is kept very clean.
The coffee was pretty good and everyone was friendly but none of the servers wore their masks outside or inside
Romancing the Bean is amazing! Ive had a taste of most everything on their menu and it is all so good! The owners are the nicest people and make their customers feel like family. I love love this place! Their baked goods are awesome too. I recommend this place to everyone visiting downtown Tempe during the weekday. Unfortunately they arent open on weekends but because the owners are there everyday they need a break sometimes. :)
Love this place! I recommend the chocolate chip cookies and the french toast muffin. My favs!
Owners are exceptionally wonderful.Great food and staff
Amazing coffee at a good price.
Delicious breakfast & coffee! My fiancé & I came here for breakfast since we were staying at a nearby hotel. We were just going to get breakfast to go since we had our pup with us, but a really sweet employee encouraged us to seat ourselves on the patio so they could bring menus to us.I got the croissant breakfast sandwich with a carmelo latte and my fiancé got a breakfast burrito and a shot of espresso. It was all wonderful. The customer service is excellent. We wish we would have gone every day of our weekend trip! They even brought a water bowl for our puppy :)
I love the Owner and Manager. The food is terrific too. One piece of advice: Look at the menu online and call in your lunch order ahead of time. Youll thank me later.
This place may look like a cafe but it doesnt only serve coffee - you can get full meals as well. I ordered their signature stuffed hot croissant (ham & cheese) and oh my, it was delicious! The croissant came with a side - soup or salad. I took the chicken and wild rice soup which was delish as well. I had come here without an appetite (feeling ill) so I was surprised that I polished the plate! We also ordered the macaroon: toasted shredded coconut with chocolate chips. I hate shredded coconut but surprisingly found it tasty. It was baked to perfection. The service here is excellent. Its my first time here, and was made to feel welcomed like a regular VIP! Especially Christina who radiated genuine warmth and cheerfulness to all her guests. She was proactive in making sure we had everything we needed, and this was during peak hours when she was also managing many other tables.A charming place indeed. Highly recommended.
The owners are so wonderful and welcoming. I walk from ADP almost every day for their delicious pastries and coffee. I am so glad my co-worker told me about this delightful place.
Admittedly I didnt have any food there, so I cant speak to anything in that regard. I did have their Vietnamese coffee though and it was reeaally sweet, like mostly sweetened condensed milk with just a tiny bit of coffee. Their lavender lemonade was much better balanced.
I work at the building right next to the bean and I’ve been going here for the past year and loved it. I was a loyal customer and spent money there about 3-4 times a week. My husband also works here and he’d also buy his lunch here with me. Today, we had brought our own lunch and we’re heading out for the day from work and decided we were going to park in front of the bean and eat at their patio since they’ve always been so welcoming. Well the owner came out and literally kicked us out with our food half eaten (he suggested we eat out in the sun in a public area because that was private property) and said “you’d think it would be obvious that you can’t sit here because it’s for customers only”. Not only am I never coming back but now you’ve lost two loyal paying customers. He could’ve simply given us a warning and we would have never done it again but that’s just a new low.
Great breakfasts, lunches, iced drinks, and really friendly staff. The baked goods are the best. The location can be hard to spot in an office park but thats what Google maps is for. Who looks for stores with their eyes anymore? Just follow the directions and get literally anything on the menu.
I work in the area and get lunch there twice a week, not to mention the baked goods. I have never had a bad meal and dont expect one soon. Their muffins are fantastic and the banana brownies are a slice of heaven. The staff is more than friendly and the prices are reasonable.
Great staff, owners and menu. Way more helpful with families and customizations than that Big Breakfast place nearby. Good location. Bakery has nice range of cookies, treats, kitchen makes eggs and salads and lunches including sandwiches and soups... all good. Ive spent 1 kids college tuition there over the years.
This is a great place they have this drink called a purple lady that is delicious their baked goods are delicious their salads are delicious their croissants and croissant sandwiches are delicious their manager is a rockstar her name just get my mind but she is dynamic full of energy runs that place very well true Rockstar. And their coffee is really good as well. Must try
Nice little coffee shop, close to where I work, they are pretty much the go to. Even though its a 5 star its more like a 4.99 because they have twice now buttered the outside of my bagel. Which I guess might be my fault for not specifying but it wasnt something I knew I had to ask for. Otherwise though amazing.
The pastry is good. The soup taste like they are from a can. The lunch specials are a good value. The service can be a little slow. All in all a good place for lunch. Breakfast on the other hand is so so. The eggs a rubbery because they are steamed rather than cooked on a flat top or a pan.
One of my favorite places. About a 10 minute walk from my office and I go there for lunch quite often. Usually have a baked croissant and a salad. The baked items are fresh and the salad is cold and delicious. They also have wonderful coffee and sell the beans for a reasonable price.
I work in the building next door. I frequently visit and I am never disappointed. Service is friendly. The food and pastries are so satisfying. Cutest little restaurant with a family feel when you come in. Their coffee options are quality just like their name
This place is neat. Super good and healthy food. Fun and polite staff. Neat environment. I love coming here during work
Service was great, the sloppy Joe was also great with pickles.
This place is a great little breakfast/lunch place tucked into a corporate plaza. Do yourself a favor and buy a cookie! Delicious.
Food is great, people are awesome, what more could you want?
The food is top notch. You cant do much better than this place, especially with sweets and breakfast pastries. Absolutely phenomenal!! The reason for the 4 stars rather than 5 was the service I received during my last visit. I witnessed an employee raising her voice with a customer, who I suspect she knew very well but was frustrated with. Customers who arrived after me were getting food before me, and all I ordered was cookies. I was 2nd in line but an employee with a tablet started taking orders from the people behind me. So, I give service a 2 but food a 5+.
Big selection of coffee, tea, and deli items with fresh baked goods that are possibly the best in town.
Great little coffee and pastry shop. They have a wide range of great lunch options too with a daily special. Just one thing to note is that while Google Pay indicates that it is accepted, it is not.
Great food and friendly staff! Chicken salad on a croissant and the corn poblano chowder was excellent. The patio is a great place for lunch!
Romancing the bean is the best coffee in shop in the world! Robert and louann own the place and they are the best people in the world. The employees are super helpful, and always seem like they are having a great time. If you miss your family come into the bean, and get adopted.
Hopd cafe food at decent prices. Service is okay, but I overheard the staff angrily complaining about some other customers outside.
Great staff, the owners are in the thick of it with their staff, which is nice to see. Had one vegetarian sandwich and veggie chili on the menu, the chili was delicious. Would like to see more vegan options, otherwise a good experience.
Great service and great food.
So friendly and absolutely the best chicken sandwich in the world!! Also had matcha tea latte and soup!!
Staff infighting kinda killed the ambiance. The mgmt doesnt seem to notice that they are in the front of the house when they have degrading conversations with staff members. I gave four stars because the food was good and the gentleman who took my order was very polite.
AWESOME place awesome people very caring and friendly staff enjoyed my time their better than any Starbucks Ive ever been to and thats the bottom line
Eat here all the time on my lunch breaks. I am never disappointed in the quality of the food. I get the turkey and cheese Brads style (🥓 + 🥑) on a wrap. Tastes so good.
Best people. And the BEST Lavender Lemonade ever.
Might be biased, but this is the best place for coffee hands down. I highly recommend the Ham & Cheese stuffed croissant. If you come in ask for Alex, Ill make you a phenomenal drink.
Parking is awful, the shop is very nice and had many options for pastries with a good muffin. However the coffee was terrible. Way too hot, very watered down and completely lacked flavor. I cant give a good review to a place that advertises good coffee and places it in the title.
Great staff and excellent pricing. Don’t forget the fantastic coffee.
Christina is the best! I love her peronality! She keeps me coming back and the food is awesome.
Long time favorite. Homemade pastries. Husband and wife owned.
Food is good but need better flow of traffic for people ordering take out.
Good sandwiches and soups. The green chili pork soup is excellent. Theyre usually pretty quick.
The staff is a bit snide. The coffee was not great and the scone was hard as a rock. I only hung out there because I was waiting for my hubby. He states the sandwiches and brewed tea are good. Ill have to take his word for it.
Rude owner. I was waiting for my co-worker on the outside patio while she ordered and he would not allow me to wait there. Was a past customer but I won’t be a future customer any longer.
Lovely atmosphere, food & service. I always get a belnded coffee & its perfect. The baked goods are wonderful too. Highly recommeneded if you love specialty drinks & baked goods.
Let me start by saying I have been going to this coffee shop for 8 years and I love the owner. However, I recently stopped in to get a few cookies for my kids and was told by one of the baristas that I would have to wait 10 min since the cookies were still in the oven. I figured I didn’t have a lot of time because I had a pressing appointment but I was willing to wait . These cookies are by far some of the best I have ever had. So I went outside and put money in the parking meter . A few minutes went by and I went to the counter to inquire if my order was ready. This barista literally was the absolute worst ... she tells me that not only was I going to need to wait another 5-10 min additional after I had already been waiting the allotted timeframe, but now she doesn’t even have the cookies I originally requested ... at this point I’m upset... waiting all this time and I’m not even getting what I ordered... I didn’t want to leave empty handed after waiting so long so I told her to give me 10 of whatever just came out of the oven ... Long story short I end up with a $50 parking ticket because my time expired just before I came outside. On top of that after the clear communication on my part given to this “barista” ... she didn’t even give me the 10 out of the oven as I requested . I love what this owner has to offer ; however, I would not recommend this place as the customer service and communication with the customers has declined tremendously. I would consider going back if it improves.
Good sandwich shop, really one if the only two options on the lake. Food was tasty, service left something to be desired, but overall a nice lunch spot
Awesome place. Little tricky to find but its well worth it. Inside is a little small and cramped but make up for it by having plenty of outside shade seating.
Such a cute place and reasonable prices. The soup was great!
I work at Hayden Ferry and I come here usually once a week for lunch. Great drinks and sandwiches!
This quaint coffee shop is a great place to order a cup of coffee and read the Sunday paper. Great place to relax!
Such an amazing little place! They take pride in their food and it is the best place for lunch any day!!!
Pretty darn good coffee. Friendly service
Love this place. Second home!! Not only great staff but wonderful customers!!! The best in Tempe!!!! Love Robert and Louann like they were my own parents and the barista Taylor is absolutely beautiful and charismatic!!!
Im not joking when I say that their tropical muffin is the best muffin Ive ever had.
Great for work cuz Im right there
Call in your order and eat in or take out for a quick lunch!!
Great place to eat and hang out! Thanks guys.
Amazing cookies! Fantastic Service! We work right by and this might be our new lunch spot!
Best bakery treats in town! Coffee is always hot & fresh.
I dont mind their food, but they consistently disappoint me with their wait times. They set unrealistic expectations when telling you over the phone how long something will take. Most recently, I ordered a sandwich. I called ahead because I know they have a problem with timing.I was told itd be ready in 5 minutes.I waited 5 minutes and headed over. I arrived and paid just 8 minutes after id ordered, and was told itd be ready in just a minute.I didnt receive my food for another 7 minutes, bringing the total amount of time to 15 minutes, three times longer than I was originally told.A single occurrence, I wouldnt bother including in a review, but this happens *every* time I choose to order something at Romancing The Bean. Regardless of how busy they are. I dont know what I need to do to get what I want here, and im very disappointed by it.But I like their prices, and I like the food. Every once in a blue moon I decide that its worth the wait.
Good place friendly staff, definitely some charcters. Muffins great, pricey but doable!
Great food...54 cents for a cup of water coming from the soda dispenser, no bueno, at least invest in a good water filter, they are like 60 bucks then charge people for water.
Newest coffee on magnolia. Great people and decor. Good place to get breakfast or lunch.
Good selection of breakfast, lunch, and coffee. A bit busy during rush times, but worth it.
Good selection of meals, pastries. Good place to have a lunch.
Good coffee & breakfasts. On bike path at TTL
Get the chocolate cinnamon muffin if you see it, which isnt often
