The staff there is beyond friendly and helpful! My husband and I stopped in, and were greeted with information on sales, informed us they were dog friendly and welcomed our dogs. The staff also gave us pointers and tips of other gift shops in town and local eateries to stop at. Will definitely be back here every time were in town!

Went here for some custom ski boot work (molding with toe cap, footbed, etc). Darren was super helpful, kind and educated. I dropped off my boats, got quick foot analysis. I returned an hour later and the boot was ready to go. Finished with quick 15 minute custom mold.Really appreciate the quick turn around and helping my new ski boot feel great. Way better pricing (including labor) I’ve seen compared anywhere else.

Super friendly staff! Much cheaper then renting at the resort. We were also in and out with 3 people and got out in about 30 minutes. We got caught in a storm and werent able to make it back same day. They were understanding waived the extra day. Highly recommend

My go to place for ski tuning!Had a friend go to another shop in Truckee and they said that their skis would be ready in about 4 days.... What???? So she took them to Granite Chief. And after her GREAT experience... she told me about Granite.This place STILL works thru the night to make sure the skis are tuned to be used the next morning. Seems like places like this are getting harder and harder to find.Tuning prices are SUPER reasonable and the people are super nice!

Granite Chief is a higher end outdoor gear and mountain lifestyle store in the middle of town. While I have purchased here a few last minute items, this smaller shop is really suited for browsing and appreciating the quality gear.If you come during the shoulder season in the fall, there is a great mix of last seasons styles at 50-60% off.This store is also right next to a used gear shop, so if the offerings are a little too rich for your wallet, you can find some steals nearby.

Came here at the end of the ski season and scored some amazing gear on sale. They have a great assortment for women, but the mens stuff was picked over pretty good and seeing as it was the end of the season, they werent ordering stuff. Good to know for the next season as to where to come for good gear. Staff is super helpful and they have a nice balance of being helpful and giving you space to browse. Also scored an awesome climbing route book for the Tahoe area.

I have been shopping at Granite Chief Truckee for a number of years however we visited on Friday and were let down by a usually great service experience. The young employees behind the desk could care less about people in the store and were deep in conversation, not even greeting us as we entered. I had to ask multiple times for assistance with clothing and dressing rooms.All things aside, the store had a great selection of high end ski-wear at a discounted price.

Really helpful staff- someone stayed even a bit after hours to help my husband mold his new boots he bought. Rental inventory is a bit better than Dave’s but their clothing and skis that aren’t on sale are super expensive.

Friendly service and good selection of gear and clothes for winter sports. I wouldnt say the selection is vast, but it is pretty solid, and had what we needed to trick out a member of our party who had never gone skiing before.
