Maple latte was great and the coffee itself tasted delicious. Not too sweet. Beautiful foamed milk. Maple flavor isnt very apparent though. They offer pour over coffee too. The ambiance is really cute, sunken into the ground. Lots of books to read, and places to hang around. However, it was kind of hot when I went and wish they had better ventilation. The aesthetic is very goth vintage and Im here for for art sold, stickers, and delicious coffee.

Very cute and eclectic coffee shop near the train tracks. If you want to experience a coffee shop pre-Starbucks era, this is your spot. Stone walls, vintage furniture, unique tea pots and coffee pots on display. Drinks were wonderful, chai latte had a nice spicy kick to it. Lots of wonderful roasted coffee options, they roast in house. Make a stop here for coffee or teas.

Overall, a cool place to pitstop for a quick coffee.The drink menu is good, probably best for people who really care for *coffee* and not espresso-based drinks. They have a variety of things to choose from though, including teas and Yerba mate (canned). We were satisfied with our drinks, but not impressed. Pretty standard and so was the cost.Environment is also predictable coffee shop— focused on artistic chaos. It’s fine, but for now, take note there’s not seating available inside. Otherwise, service was very okay. Kind of slow and nothing personal. Very transactional. But, we got what we ordered eventually.The worst part was trying to park. Good luck. Find a paid lot on the Main Street and just walk. It’ll save you the headache of weird traffic patterns.

I asked some people in Squaw Valley where to get some coffee. Darkhorse was highly recommended.We stopped by in the atmosphere was so cool I told my wife and son they had to come in.The coffee was delicious.The people were amazing and friendly and interesting.In the atmosphere was comfortable and cool.

They were great! I walked in after closing (hey, the door was unlocked) bought a 16 oz coffee and some of their micro-roast beans. Got an upgrade on the free-coffee-with-beans deal. Yay! Nice funky place on the bottom floor. Google maps will take you to the door (which is easy to miss), but theres no parking there; so go park back up on the main drag and walk to the place.

Super friendly staff. Went in to see the high tech Ground Control brewing machine. It really does make an awesome cup of coffee. It was loaded with caffeine but still tasted mellow.

If you are looking for coffee specifically, this is your spot! They do it and do it well. If you’re looking for microwaved cafeteria food and astringent one note roasts, hit the chain. This is a gem of a place that gets coffee.

The Chai here is amazing. I had an iced chai with skim milk and I think it was the best chai Ive tasted, lots of ginger but well balanced.

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area; anytime Im passing through Truckee its a must stop. Its in a great location to grab a coffee and stroll around Truckee, or pickup a quick snack and drink for the road. The atmosphere of the shop is welcoming and homey, with lots of art, books, and cool décor to check out while you wait for your order. The staff are always very friendly and efficient, and they are well trained in making espresso drinks, much better than any chain coffee shop.

Great little coffee shop and roastery in downtown Truckee. Its in a semi-basemet space with tons of character. Several bean varieties and origins for sale, and good selection of drinks. We had a cold brew and french toast latte: cold brew was a darker roast with tons of umami flavor; french toast latte (maple syrup with cinnamon) was balanced and not too sweet.Great spot to hang out and listen to live music once covid ends.

This is the best coffee place Ive been to in Truckee by far. They do a great job with their single origin pour overs and their lattes. The Belgian waffle is also really great! Very nicely priced too!

Passing through Truckee from Reno and I make an effort to snag local coffee roasters bags when Im somewhere new. This place was a little gem. The decor, the ambiance, and the location made me want to settle in and stay longer. And the employee that helped me at the front counter was SOO knowledgeable. Was able to match me with a delicious bag of beans to take home. cant wait to revisit.

This place is like home. Cozy, lots of room, comfy seating, a little nook-looking. There are snacks. The host was very friendly and helpful. The art is awesome. The coffee . . . Is SO good, I can actually taste the notes! Would definitely recommend, especially if you have a sense of humor.

I have tried their roast and absolutely love it. I’m very picky about the being I choose, and how well it is roasted. A delicate balance achieving a good flavor without a burned aftertaste. I did try to find them on foot, and ended up at the wrong coffee shop LOL. I think the mapping program can be off sometimes, but make the effort to stop in and grab a hot fresh cup of coffee.

Okay coffee and microwaved food. Cortado tasted burnt and server had attitude when we asked if she could add in the hot sauce inside the burrito. She could’ve just said they were pre-made. Wouldn’t die if we had to come here again but definitely better coffee shops in truckee

This coffee shop is a little tough to find, but well worth the search!! Expect to enjoy some amazing coffee or tea in an eclectically decorated environment. This place is very cozy and a great place to read a book or have a chat with a small group.

Best coffee I’ve had in the greater Reno-Truckee-Tahoe area. Superb beans, awesome staff, cool art, chill vibe. They always seem to use clean equipment, so the coffee has always tasted fresh for me! This place is great! The owners are a lovely couple from the area. Interior is beautifully decorated with some cool details. Rustic meets modern with the feeling of an old tavern mixed with bright contemporary lighting. Would love to see a big comfy chair added to the seating where I could spend my days reading, smoking a cigar, and drinking the black gold.The coffee is roasted in house (you can check out the roaster in display when you walk in). Nice selection of books too.Best place in town for quality coffee.

Truly a special place. My personal favorite coffee spot in truckee. The atmosphere sets it apart. With a down to earth vibe for sure. You also cant go wrong with any of their roasts depending on your own personal preference. They specialize more in pour-overs if thats your thing. They also have some quality teas. Id also reccomend grabbing a waffle. Sometimes I go just for that!

Not only is this place unique in every way and delicious, but totally honorable! I left my purse there with lots of cash credit cards and the usual When I discovered it was gone I called. The person who answered knew right where it was and it was returned safely to me when I arrived. What a relief in every way. That couldve gone so different. The coffee was great! We stopped in here on our way back from Kings Beach. The staff is super friendly. The shop has a very unique touch to it with cool furniture, books and magazines, etc. They were even playing a vinyl while we were there! Excellent place, staff, and coffee. Definitely a recommended stop in Truckee.

This is a funky little coffee place that just makes me feel comfortable. They have muffin and coasiant sort of things and pre-cooked waffles that they serve like muffins and a few classic old books to browse.

Great roasts, interesting prices, staff, ambiance, and location: maybe four parking spots and thus a rather low likelihood of a crowd. Ideal for study, meetups, remote work, and/or a relaxed, morning-routine hexashot Americano, half heavy cream enjoyed in the sun.

Probably one of the most quaint locations in Truckee. They have some of the best coffee because they roast their own coffee beans. They also get coffee beans that are pesticide free which is not common in todays large coffee world.If youre looking for a cool local coffee place in Truckee this is the place to visit.

Ok, so I went to the speakeasy and told one of my stories and read a poem I wrote. Excellent atmosphere, people, drinks. They even made a veggie soup, contribution only on that delicious warm up. Some writers read chapters from their book, poems, music...

A little off the beaten track, this micro roaster has outstanding smooth lattes and decent gluten free biscuits. The decor is vintage eccentric and the staff are friendly and know their pours.

After being told that this place was worth a try, the past two times we have tried to go get coffee after work the door has been locked around 4:30-4:45Whats the point of having hours if you dont abide by them? Ill be making a point to tell people that finding a parking spot to get coffee here is not worth it

Awesome vibe, good coffee, nice folks. Coffee Bar across the way had a loud, trendy feel to it; Dark Horse was chill, and had much, much better coffee. If youre a climber youre gonna want to turn this place into your pre-expedition meeting spot.
