Best place for the ice cream 🍦 around the Donner lake. I like their shot of espresso over vanilla ice-cream and caramel with salt. The best thing is mini size. With my age I can’t have big icecream cups🙂 with this size I can try more verities. They have so many to try. All are great.

Delicious ice cream. Kind of expensive but worth it imo. $5 for single scoop (you can still get 2 flavors) and $7.50 for double scoop. The chocolate flavor is delicious.

This is our walking treat from our place on s shore Dr either with our family of 4 or friends that visit. 30min to the ice cream shop, feast on their many great flavours (darkhorsecoffee&salted caramel combo -yum!). We love their vanilla pints - just the perfect scoop to make our own affogato! Service is as fast and friendly as can be, the lines can be long, but be patient. All yummy things come to those who wait (and can time rush hr). Parking lot is very small, plenty of street parking on Donner pass rd, though be careful when crossing the road. We either chit chat at the provided tables or take our ice creams to the west end beach and enjoy it there before walking back home. Pints are located inside the store on the left and a restroom. Kids sometimes use it, and its clean. Little Truckee ice-creamery wa great during the covid year, they masked up and had their guests mask up too, so we were able to enjoy this place a lot (takeout orders, in person window orders). Easy tap&pay method. Tacos are usually sold here but we have yet to enjoy it - only room for double scoop desserts in our belly!

It was a little expensive but super tasty. There were lots of flavors and at least one sherbet. Admittedly, the best value was probably not in their smallest size, but the “mini” is a perfect size for anyone that just wants a taste without a sugar overload.

A little pricey but to be expected with the location. Ice cream was fantastic. I got the sorbet of the day and my wife got the chocolate brownie. Ate ice cream and played some games on the patio

My family and I love Little Truckee Ice Creamery. Its great to visit after a hot day or even just a rough day. I love its flavors and it has a lot of them. I recommend this place to anyone looking for some great ice cream.

Fun outdoor play, area for kids and outdoor eating. Unusual flavor combos that tasted great.

They only serve beef tacos a couple days per week and you can get with or without onions and cilantro.... they are delicious and a good price! Highly recommend!

My strawberry ice cream was a bit sad.Edit: moved from 3 to 4 star. Although the ice cream texture was thicker and harder than I personally enjoy, the community and customer service surrounding the ice creamery made the experience enjoyable overall

Asked if there were any peanuts or tree nuts (life threatening food allergy) in the cookies and cream ice cream. They didnt know. When asking about cones, they offered my son a gluten free cone but had no idea if there were peanuts or tree nuts in it. Sad to see a place these days that are completely unsafe for those with food allergies to get a treat. My 10 year old was very disappointed.As for the reply....your employee did no such thing. She shrugged when I asked about allergies and said I dont know to my questions. She *never* offered to check anything in the back and when I asked about a clean scoop she ROLLED HER EYES and said I guess. Will never go here again.

This is such a cute place and must stop when you are in Donner. Perfect treat after a hot day at the lake and the ice cream is so yummy.

Great ice cream shop on Donner Lake! True creamery in that they make all their own ice cream in house. Generous portions, kid friendly, and conveniently located. No pics of ice cream....because we ate it all! Well done.

This is probably the best ice cream I’ve ever had. Creamy but not too thick. They have a lot of unique flavors and everybody was happy with their choices.

My wife and I were up in the Donner Lake area yesterday to do a little hiking and get out of the smoke down in the foothills. Afterwards she suggested getting ice cream at the Little Truckee Ice Creamery. It had been highly recommended by a friend of hers. We gave it a try. Seems like a nice friendly place with limited parking. Good outside seating arrangements. I ordered a half/half single scoop of Dark Cherry and I think Toffee on a cone. I mentioned the cone twice. My wife ordered mint chip in a cup. I got mine in a cup. After reminding the server she politely said she could put a cone on top. Cool. My wife liked her ice cream. Neither flavor of mine really stood out, tasted lack luster, and wasnt heavily laden with pieces of toffee or cherry. My wife tasted mine and said she really couldnt taste what it was. As I dipped into the Dark Cherry on the bottom I hit something hard with my teeth that wasnt going to be crushed. Looking at it I thought it might be a piece of cherry pit, but couldnt be sure. Well, nothing broken, so no harm no foul.Summary, the reviews of the Little Truckee Ice Creamery tend to be extremely good, and my wife liked her serving, but this is my review. $5 single scoop ice cream seems to be becoming standard nowadays, but for $5 I expect a lot more. Certainly a flavor burst, and nothing that could break a tooth. Im not saying you shouldnt give this place a try if youre in the vicinity and want ice cream, its possible and probable my experience was an anomaly. However, if you want a cone ask three times, and use caution when you chew.

I got the caramel ice cream and it tastes exactly like a werthers original caramel!!! and those are my favorite candies so I 13676456% recommend coming here! Quarantine precautions are also great and bathrooms are available

I ordered the Pecan Praline, and it is honestly the best ice cream Ive ever had! 😍 The vanilla ice cream was perfect in flavor and texture and Ive never had better candied pecans. I live in the Bay Area but will have to make this a more regular place to stop! Cant wait to try their other menu items!

Decided to stop here on a whim. Very glad that I did so. The icecream was phenomenal and I will make sure to head back if in the area! The icecream was a perfect balance of thick and fluffy. They also had a good selection of flavors.

Their mint and Belgian chocolate ice cream were some of the best Ive ever had (and I try new places everywhere I go)! A bit of a line even late but well worth the wait. Staff are often high schoolers who are very friendly and hard working. Pretty area to sit as well. Highly recommend!

My 7.5 y/o son says give it five stars, we love it. So the jury has spoken. Cute spot, great location, lots of outdoor seating - maybe not at peak time, but at 7:30 pm was super nice. And the icecream was good.

Nice outdoor sitting area and flavoursome ice creams. The double scoop is a serious serving and while the prices are not what I would call cheap theyre also not bad value for money. Will definitely be returning.

Must stop here if youre in the area. Fantastic taste and even non-dairy options. Dont underestimate the size of the single scoops! Very adequate social distancing and other Covid measures. They even sanitized the money!

Fantastic ice cream. All homemade. So hard to find this quality ice cream nowadays. Worth the car trip to eat some ice cream on the lake. They also had tacos. Smelled amazing. Next time will plan to eat my meal and dessert there.

Wow, incredible homemade ice cream out of a tiny cabin by the lake. Romantic and delicious with a line out the door on New Years Day, I cant imagine how crowded it must get in summer. They had about fifteen different flavors plus two non-dairy options (coconut milk and strawberry-lemon sorbet when we went). Expensive and worth it. A place for connoisseurs and foodies and anyone else who wants to treat themselves; but probably not practical for a family of six vacationing on a budget.

Even on a cold winter day, I enjoyed eating ice cream with my husband after our skiing trip. My husband is lactose intolerant, so he was only able to enjoy the one sherbet flavored that they offered. Other than that, it was nice to visit a quaint shop near our rental cabin.

Small tucked away ice cream. We went in for a mocha. Difficult to park because it was so busy. They have a decent bathroom available. Small inside area for seating and a decent little deck for outside seating.

This place has some of the best ice cream I Truckee! Sure it MIGHT be a LITTLE expensive, but its definitely worth it. They put a kind of a lot of ice cream on a single cone or cup which makes it worth it. The ice cream tastes SOOOO GOOD! :)

Great ice cream and atmosphere, nice mountain feel to it. The ice cream is homemade and very tasty, although that makes the ice cream slightly more pricey than elsewhere. It is also a great location if you are on this side of the lake, as there are not a whole lot of shops in the area. Also you get a punch card and after 10 purchases you get one free. Will definitely come back.

This place has many different flavorful ice cream. This place makes its own ice cream once every week during winter and 6 times a week during summer. It serves many different flavors. Find one that you like.

The blueberry was phenomenal. It had sweet chunks of fresh berries. The chocolate was incredibly rich and creamy without being too sweet. Some of the best ice cream weve had. At least as good as Jenis Ice Cream in the Midwest.

What a great little place. Ice cream is really superior, the coconut just popped, Peanut Butter Cup had wonderful nutty flavor. The whole family loved it, and best of all the service was by the owner who is super nice and clearly takea pride in his craft

The ice cream here is pretty good but the portion sizes for the price are ridiculous. I understand that premium ingredients cost more but the scoop didnt even clear the sides of the cup. It was more like half a scoop for $5. Really disappointing.

Not a huge amount of flavor options, but the ones they do have are great. Its position in the middle of the forest gives it a great atmosphere, too. I recommend the Truckee Trails if you like brownies.

Awesomely good ice cream and sorbet. My only issue is the cones, I wish they had homemade waffle cones instead of pre made cake or sugar cones. Price is what you would expect from a small homemade shop, 3 bucks for a mini and 5 for a single.

I have never really liked ice cream. I usually get cookies or brownies at places like this, but whenever I come to truckee I always make at least one stop here. I have never had a flavor there I didnt like. Best of all it is across the street from Donner lake inn which is much favorite place to stay in truckee.

Best ice cream on the planet. Maybe the Truckee area anyway!
