Such a fantastic hip cool joint with lots of people, long lines but definitely worth the wait. This is what every brunch place in the world should model themselves after. Good energy, healthy choices and lots of selection. The food was so tasty and reasonable in price. Even if it’s self serve the service by the people there was still great. Will definitely come back again n again to try their delicious treats
Super dirty. I got a latte in a dirty sticky cup. Pecan tart with hair. I understand things happen but a with all of it together… We were two people we got 1 spoon, 3 knives, 1 fork and one Napkin. In order to get more napkins we had to get 3 sets of plastic utensils since there were no napkins in the entire place. Almond croissant was not fresh. Maybe 2,3 days old, same for the bagel. Biscuit was delicious and if the cup was clean the coffee would have been good. This location does not compare to your Boston locations at all. I own a French cafe in NYC so I certainly understand that things happen but this was just too many wrongs. Really disappointed 😞. Next time will get everything in a disposable cups. The dirt on the rim of cup happens from not cleaning the top of the espresso machines regularly
I found the people busy a bees here, still friendly.By 11am this place bustling, be prepared to wait.Order at register then move to cappuccino machine to pick up drinks, you can get a text but waiting at machine is a bit more prompt (not sure if it will be delivered to your table...by the look of melted ice drinks it wont be...Pastries are great! Pavlovas sprinkled with coconut and topped with raspberries. The Mochas are wonderful (not white chocolate but the best chocolate out there) many places have nothing on theirs!
High ceilings, nice atmosphere, air conditioning was on point. Bathrooms were clean and I saw them be individually checked at least once; they spent at least a few minutes in each, and clearly not just pulling the trash. The chocolate rose pastry was as good as it looks, and the fresh pear juice was perfect for the hot summer day.Customer service was great at the register. I also saw at least two staff members and what I think was someone in management, give the utmost respect and quality customer service to a person who likely experience homelessness and mental health issues.
They don’t take reservations! You can order online and do pick up OR order at the counter first and then grab a table. We came on a Saturday around 11:30 and was able to get a seat inside. Everything here is delicious. They have options if you’re vegan. I recommend getting the roasted strawberry danish and the pear tart. I would definitely get any of their breads - all made fresh. Definitely a good spot for brunch and breakfast. It does get crowded so keep that in mind. Bathroom had changing tables. If you have a large group, I recommend calling ahead of time!
I came here because I certain website told me that this was one of the best breakfast places in DC and it certainly did not disappoint. We got a few baked goods which were amazing. We got a croque Madame and loved the flavor pallet, salty and savory. We also got one of their breakfast sandwiches which was also amazing. The prices are very reasonable. I would definitely go back. It was very busy when we went so we sat outside and ordered our food for pick up which took about 15 minutes
Fantastic brunch spot in DC. Went with 5 other people for brunch. We waited about 30 minutes to find a table but it worked out well with the timing of our food. Order inside and then wait for a table to open up. The Halloumi sunny side sandwich was incredible. Being a bakery be sure to try out their bread!
This place is goooddddd!!! 😍😍 I got the Summer Farro Bowl and it was so tasty! It is a very nice and clean place with many yummy food! Unfortunately seating is limited. We had to sit outside and sun was hitting us so bad!. Some table are covered with umbrella but many weren’t. Overall nice place with good food but managers should revisit the seating arrangement.
I was there on a very busy Saturday morning for breakfast. The line was long but I only had to wait for 10 minutes. A lot of options for pastries and baked good and they all look very delicious. I ordered the lamb hash and the Meze breakfast and they were tasty but not particularly special. Some of the chairs were dirty with lots of bread crumbs on it. I also saw flys inside the restaurant and that’s the reason why I only give 4/5.
I Traveled to Paris when I am in this bakery. I took my best friend who lived in Paris for years and said their croissants and tartine was delicious. I had the peach and ricotta - if you dont want something terribly sweet like chocolate this is a great item for breakfast and if youre lucky get the almond croissant.
A very nice bakery/Cafe the design of the cafe is really nice. The walk up bakery has so many options from farts, to cakes, muffins cookies you name it and Im sure you can get it from the bakery. I stopped in to just grab some tea while I was out on a photo walk. I will for sure be stopping in again for brunch or pastries. The staff was also outstanding.
Delightful breakfast/coffee/bakery on New Hampshire Ave. Huge patio for outside dining as well as indoor seating. Sandwiches, salads, soups, all types of pastries. I had a Turkey BLT on thick cut multi grain bread w spicy Mayo plus avocado, delicious...Sundays theyre open 8-4 but get there early cause the wait is out the door
Tatte (pronounced like latte) arrives from Boston in exuberant fashion. The large assortment of French pastries are flaky, decadent, and rich. Caffeine drinks are prepared at their dedicated coffee bar. Take a look at the menu and be prepared to order because this place is popular.Their space is bright, airy, and inviting. White tiling and plants make it look straight out of a magazine.Chocolate croissants are perfect and I challenge you to find a better one in the city. A full apple pie is available to celebrate the American in you.Currently dine-in is closed but the outdoor patio with ample seating is a fantastic place to start your day. Tables are even cleaned between guests. This vibrant cafe is sure to be a DC fixture for your morning routine.
We stumbled upon Tatte in our last visit to DC, and during our morning break we decided to give it a try. We were extremely pleased with the food offering and the coffee. Service was great. There a lot of items to choose from but we went with the Shakshooka (its an Israeli breakfast meal). Everything was fantastic and we definitely recommend you trying Tatte. Outdoors sitting was awesome and recommended especially on a sunny crisp morning.
Thirteen years ago, a woman named Tzurit Or started selling her baked goods at farmers markets throughout Boston. Her baking was so popular Tatte shops started opening throughout the city. Now shes bringing Tatte to D.C., the first city outside of Boston to have her baked goods. At a corner in West End is a beautiful bakery with little tile corners for sitting and large windows letting the natural light pour in. When you walk in, youll be greeted by friendly staff selling all types of pastries and cakes. Get their pistachio or chocolate croissant. They are the best in the city. They have a large brunch menu with all types of food, but my Croque Madame was excellent with a perfectly running egg on top. They have a coffee bar that brews smooth coffee. My latte was light and refreshing. Its worth noting that over the course of an hour I noticed several Tatte employees serve people experiencing homelessness in the neighborhood. Treating them like paying customers, they offered them food to order and brought it out on their fanciest dishes. True customer service treats everyone with dignity. Well done, Tatte staff!Tatte is a welcome addition to our city and is already becoming a local hangout spot. After all, brunch is D.C.s favorite pastime.
What a wonderful addition to the DC bakery and cafe scene! This Boston area newcomer opened in the district with a bang with their first store in West End. The aesthetics is somewhere between New England farmhouse chic and industrial warehouse which is both welcoming and pleasing to the senses. The pastries are reasonably priced and delicious. The breakfast items off the menu are equally tasty. No indoor seating due to COVID for now but there’s patio seating which seems to always be in high demand.
Love Tatte! I dropped by the actual cafe for the first time a few days ago for a coffee and work. The atmosphere is so cute and the people behind the counter were friendly. We also order takeout from them all the time, and it’s always delicious. (Especially the soups). will be going back!
Ah, Tatte. Walking into this new all-day eatery felt like such a breath of fresh air during an otherwise dreadful time! The space is beautiful, the pastries delicious, and the food outstanding. You really can’t go wrong with any choice, and know that you can always come back tomorrow.I ordered the Shakshuka and the House Tatte Latte, and a morning bun to go, of course. You can’t leave without a morning bun.Everything is set up for a great ordering and outdoor dining experience. It’s crowded, yes, but worth the wait and you’ll forget that time is even a metric after your first sip of a latte infused with Honey Halva and Cardamom.
I have been many times to Tatte. The food is great, the pastries never disappoint. I have two issues with the place. First, the coffee service is super slow. I have waited way too long for a coffee, and the fact that they let you know when it’s ready through a text message seems ti add just an unnecessary step that delays further. Second, it is incredibly wasteful in packaging. Unless you are carrying out, there is no need to use all that packing material. It is tone deaf with our environmental crisis.
Such inconsistent quality. Great dark chocolate sandwich cookie. Dry, tasteless and strange sour cherry almond scone (in picture).
Great service, great coffee. Perfect place to meet a coworker or friend.
Food is top notch, coffee hits the spot, the service is friendly and helpful, but the cleanliness leaves much room for improvement. I took my in-laws here not too long after they opened for the day. We sat in the corner while we waited for our food. There was a dead cockroach upside down not too far from our table, the tabletops were sticky and in desperate need of a good wipe, and the floor was layered in crumbs and coffee droplets. Id be more understanding if we arrived later in the day, but the bakery was barely open when we sat down. Unfortunately this experience has caused us to pause our visits due to concern of cleanliness in areas we cant see. However, I cant deny the fact that the food is SO good!!
We went for lunch one day - there is always a massive line on the weekend so we decided to try it mid week. First the bread is fantastic - challah bread blt and the turkey avocado bacon sandwiches are both solid. Bacon was tasty, could have used a bit more turkey. I don’t think they have the pastries online to order so looking forward to trying that next time.
The food here is quite delicious. They don’t have a ton of breakfast food options for lactose intolerant people, so beware. HOWEVER, I always order the chicken squash cranberry salad but sub the chicken for Turkey to be dairy free (not the formal name I’m sorry) and an order of the Jerusalem bread. The green juice they have bottled in the front is really delicious as well! Definitely a neighborhood favorite of ours
Opened up that place for myself in Boston last fall. Then found out they are in DC as well (how about NYC, huh?)Great pastries and food. Honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. A bit pricy but still affordable. The atmosphere there is like you walk into another, their own world. Lots of natural light and everything looks clean!I was a bit hungry so no pictures were taken
9/27/21 came to DC to check out the Artechouse and thought to grab a bite here. What a amazing treat. The food was wonderful and the customer service was prompt. A must try!!! I’ll be back.
I’m a frequent customer at this location and I always get the same thing: a sunny side halloumi breakfast sandwich, but I don’t like runny yolks so I always ask for my egg fried. For some particular reason that wasn’t explained to me, the manager refused to accommodate my request for a fried egg instead of a sunny side egg, when I’ve ordered this sandwich several times at this location and it had never once been an issue before today. I wouldn’t be so frustrated by this if this was my first time ordering and they explained that they couldn’t accommodate my order, or if the manager had come over and given me a reason, but instead I just watched her tell the cashier to tell me no. It was very rude. What gets me the most about this entire interaction, is the fact that to make my sandwich, you HAVE to make an egg. All I was simply asking for, was for my egg to be cooked a minute longer so the yolk is hard. Funny how that couldn’t be done today of all days. Tatte is a wonderful cafe with delicious food, but I’ll be going to the DuPont location next time, since this location seems to have trouble accommodating simple requests.
Nice baked goods but….. the manager (is there even a manager?!) clearly has no clue about how to run a busy restaurant. Staff are running around like headless chicken, cashiers are slow and far too few, food takes ages to come out, etc. Avoid unless you take away - and even then expect a long wait!
First time here. It was very busy which is usually a good sign. I got the chocolate rose for $4. It was a disappointment. Almost no chocolate in or on it. It was bland and just like eating bread in the shape of a muffin. I fed some to the finches in the outdoor seating area. Then I asked for butter. I don’t think I’d try it again. Too expensive for food that wasn’t even tasty. The staff were polite and courteous. The facility was clean and inviting. Nothing personal against it, sadly just not enjoyable for me.
Had an amazing experience here this weekend. the food was amazing, i got the turkey bmt & a chai latte. everything about this place was amazing. the service was also great. i definitely will be coming here more often
Blonde girl, Sidney I think, was so bubbly and helpful at the register and knew absolutely everything on the menu, down to the specific measurements of seasoning in dishes. She should be promoted to head chef. I loved her earrings and she gave me an extra pair she had. Food was fantastic.
Lovely bakery/eatery in NW DC. Stopped by for dessert and coffee/tea. It was a little steamy out so we opted to dine inside, bit they do have a lovely patio with umbrella tables for al fresco dining.Delicious desserts, tasty teas, all around a pleasant stop on an evening walk in the Nations Capital 😊
Our favorite bakery, hands down! We first heard about it when we were in Boston, and were thrilled to hear about its arrival to DC. The house latte is so addicting! The staff is so friendly, and they take very good precautions to keep people socially distant. My number 1 recommendation for a bakery!!!!!
A beautiful new addition to West End. From the ambiance, to the dishes, and baked goods available Tatte is just what DC didn’t know it needed, mid pandemic. So glad Tatte finally made it here from Boston, and looking forward to seeing the additional DC location in November!
Great location that never let you miss delicious pastries.
What a busy spot! Tatte is great spot for both takeaway and a quick dine-in for breakfast. The sourdough is fine and the pastries are great, and the line for pickup is huge at all times of the morning so I suggest ordering ahead if you can! Their treats arent just sweet either so bring your most diverse group of friends.
An absolute gem! Their ability to produce a very wide range of food at a very quick pace is truly impressive considering every single item is spot-on perfect. Their tartines, breakfast sandwiches and shakshuka are outstanding. It gets crowded, so get there early if you want to dine in.
For all of the hype it was a very underwhelming and disappointing experience for me. I went during the second weekend from when they opened so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the GF Breakfast Sandwich and a matcha latte. Although my sandwich order was wrong 3 times, the staff went above and beyond to try to fix it each time. I ended up being there almost 2 hours waiting to get everything with my order corrected and then once I got my sandwich it was just thrown together (the bread wasn’t even toasted on the third try). Overall, Tatte is aesthetically pleasing and the people were nice so I’m willing to try again.
Love Tatte!!! The coffee, pastry and most of all their healthy lunch and dinner choices. I am a Dairy free vegetarian and their menu is perfect for me. Thank you!!
Jerusalem bagel, pistachio croissant, peach and ricotta tart, and the halloumi breakfast sandwich were all delicious. Friendly service on our first visit. All seating is outdoor on account of COVID, but not sure whats going to happen when the weather turns cool. We will definitely be back.
How is this only 4.3? I no longer trust the citizens of DC. Should be 4.6 or something. Great food, cuttable line and great ambiance.
A very nice bakery
The interior is very pretty. Spacious place, I got a pastry which was good. Friendly staff. But my hot chocolate with whole milk was pretty ordinary. Cappuccino was ordinary, too.
Delicious pastries and coffee!
The food was good, and although closed the inside atmosphere appears nice.
Love it! Especially their pistachio crush.
The food is as good as when 1st opened. Its the popularity thats inconvenient. Being in line + wait for an hour was...a lot.
SOOOOO GOOD!!!!! we live really close to it so we just had to go! when we went, we had to stay in a pretty long line, but it’s totally worth it!!! the heirloom tomato sandwich is to die for and it’s in my top ten favorite food!!
Good food. Busy on Saturday brunch but line moves quickly
Best bakery in DC. I could subsist entirely on their almond croissants. The multigrain bread is amaaaaazing… excellent espresso bar also.
Beautiful. Delicious. That is all.
Got 4 pastries, a breakfast, and a latte. Everything looked really good and had good presentation. The food and coffee itself was very mediocre though. I was pretty disappointed with how long of a wait there was with so many people and I didnt really have an urge to finish anything.
I think there is too much hype about this place. I thought Id give it a try. A got a good old plain croissant. With $3.50 ($4 and a bit after tax) its pretty pricey. Its a beautiful croissant. But I was disappointed.
Bad customer service, what good was my shift that went away while I still had to finish my order and after me no more people in the line, fresh produce, they didnt drive me crazy, nothing fancy .. Out of the 6 pieces I bought I really liked the brownies and the cookie, from the reviews I was expecting top products, but they were not what I expected!
Be ready for a loong line over weekends but still tasty food.
Awesome breakfast and brunch place with really tasty food and beautiful set up. I wish it was less crowded though
Food was good, order was not correct though. This place definitely has potential to be very good. Right now it’s worth going in and checking out the beautiful shop and grabbing a bite to eat. Just make sure your order is correct.
This is my go to place for working from a coffee shop, my only complaint is a lack of outlets which is real tough, and that they don’t make chai which makes me sad. But everything else is delicious and it’s a beautiful atmosphere!
Excellent place. Its beautiful and it feels like a little chick place in France. The food was very good, but the café au lait was a little bit cold.Thing to be careful: When our cup was served it spilled and it was cleaned with an already used cloth instead of a napkin or a cleaned cloth.
Great spot for a quick bite. Highly recommend the artichoke quiche. Prices arent cheap.
The pastries were good. Highly recommend the cheese bourekas. The monkey bread was not good (it was old).
Good experience.
Clean and friendly service. I had the lamb platter and it was very delicious!
Simply love this place. One of the best cafes in DC for sure. Great sandwiches, salads, pastries and of course coffee .
I’ve visited this location numerous times, as it is right in my neighborhood. I’ve always experienced great service. However, I had a negative experience this past Saturday. While waiting for our order to go, I heard the young man handing out orders (pictured below) repeatedly and randomly shouting out what sounded like profanities and Star Wars quotes. It was loud, disturbing, and unprofessional.
Menu options are good. Service is a little too slow
Best bakery in town!
Tatte Bakery & Cafe is a brilliant go to spot for beautiful breakfast items and delicious lunch dishes. My personal favorite is the mansaf but be sure to double check pick-up orders as Ive had the missing items situation happen more than once. Overall, highly recommended!
I’m very consistent with visiting this place while traveling to Boston or DC and it’s always delicious and cozy in there.
Living 5 mins from this is very exciting. Glad to have a Tatte Bakery nearby, and such a selection of coffee ☕ in times of need.
Sourdough breakfast sandwich was delicious and the nitro cold brew was perfect for the warm weather. So many tasty looking pastries as well.
Cute cafe serving desserts and coffee
Great place for brunch! Nice patio sitting, although a bit more shade could help especially in the summer heat. We got the traditional shakshuka, peach and ricotta tartine, and the chickpea and fava plate - all were delicious and filling. Will definitely come back or visit one of your other locations when we go to DC.
