We were at Purdue for parents weekend with the whole family visiting our son and our car became undrivable. When we just barely got it to the shop, the mechanic was not sure he was going to be able to fix it, but told us he would stay past closing to try to get it done for us. He was able to diagnose and order the part which was delivered within an hour. He then fixed it! We were even able to go to the game and enjoy our Saturday as planned and picked it up after the game. We were so worried that we were not going to make it home on Sunday. He was just such a great person and I would totally recommend this business!!!

If y’all want auto services, I highly recommend the Ernie’s BWC.I’ve been to this CarX about two years ago and they don’t even care how much torque they should put on each lug nut. You can easily find other places with lower price and higher quality.Here’s my story, I own a very common type of Toyota and never had one single problem with the factory lug nuts (even two years ago at the same store!) So I just assume every car shop should have the lug nut key sets, however, they don’t. The reason they gave me is that having a lug nut key set is too expensive(ridiculous uh?) I’m not a car professional, but I do know a lug net key set cost less than 100 bucks on Amazon. Yet, they don’t have it. If the lug nut key has ever been a problem, they should at least mention it during the first phone call.After two hours I dropped off my car, they asked me to send the lug nut key asap. I had to bother my friend for a ride and managed to get there in 20 minutes. The guy at front desk told me that my car will be done in 1 hour. So I waited, until one of the mechanics told me they can’t do it today. Moreover, they said they hold definitely no responsibility on any of these issues. It was all my fault to not bring they the lug nut key at the first place. In the end, I was given two options, either leave rn or keep waiting and hope my tires can get changed today.I’m extremely disappointed, and I would recommend no one who needs their tires changed to come to this store. Find some other places, you can get better service with lower price!

A truly pleasant experience! I needed new brake pads and rotors and the team at Car-X in West Lafayette was responsive, quick, and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend this place as their customer service is top notch!

On Thursday night, my windshield wipers would not work, so I called a variety of mechanics on Friday morning to get it inspected, and hopefully fixed, as I was driving across the country on Monday morning. They were able to diagnose the problem within a single business day (broken windshield wiper motor). They were up front about the options for fixing it, either using a second market part or ordering the part from the dealer, and were very clear and honest about the plusses/minuses of each. Then, they were able to have my car fixed by the next day, and the cost seemed pretty reasonable. They were able to diagnose, get the needed part, and repair my car in 25 hours, remarkably fast compared to the other mechanics I called, who werent even going to be able to look at my car for another 4 days.

Dropped our daughter off at Purdue and started back to Louisville ky at around 4pm. Car started acting up we pulled it into car x they came out and looked...in 10 min they had it up on a lift and found the issue. We were back on the road @ 4:35 amazing. Manage was awesome and service tech explaind the issue in terms I could understand. My daughter will be coming her for her car work. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Great service from Kegan and his team! We brought in our 2015 Equinox on Tuesday morning without an appointment to have the battery replaced. He was able to squeeze us in within the same day and also alerted us to a possible brake light issue on our other vehicle. (2007 HHR) Since we already needed a headlight on the HHR, we left that at CarX the next day and got it taken care of as well. Would definitely come back if/when we need service on either of our vehicles.

Technically I didnt actually get serviced, but I needed a very complex job involving the timing chains and tensioners, easily hours of labors and well over $1000 in labor and parts.My appointment was actually called off when the employees were open and honest with me saying how they were not comfortable performing this job due to the incredible amount of time and complexity required. Ill go somewhere else because I still need work done, but I greatly appreciate the humility and honesty, especially when over a grand in on the line.They also explained the parts and purposes really well and honestly, so even though I never used them for more than diagnostics, I feel theyre honest and good.

Someone I know dearly gave his car to this place for repairs. Not only did this guy return it back with 10 times the damage, in the form of scratches & dents (see photos attached), he also was extremely rude and unprofessional when approached amicably about the same. He does not deserve the rating hes got, and frankly I think he should be held accountable and extend reparations to the owner of this car for the damage to his car.

I have been a customer at this shop for over five years, and Kegan and others have always been honest and professional in their work. They are very knowledgeable and have fixed pretty much any issue I have had with my car over this time. Highly recommended!

Recently I was dropping my son off at Purdue while on the way down our car had developed a wicked shimmy. It would come and go during the whole 2 and a half hour trip to Purdue. When we got to Purdue and got out to look around the car we noticed the front driver side brakes were HOT and had a burning smell coming from them. I was thinking Great what do I do now so far from home. The nice folks at Car-X were able to get me in right away and diagnose the problem. They had me fixed and back on the road home within 3 hours. I am most grateful for their service!

I need to have a kit to be replaced. They charged for more than $550. I was told they had already gave me a special discount of $150, which means the original price was over $700 for the kit replacement before discount. I contacted another auto shop which had a higher score of google review in Lafayette, and they charged 50% of Car-x asked for. I cant tell if their service was better than other shops but the price is exorbitantly higher relative to their counterparts. You make your own decision, and I only tell you what I had experienced here.

My husband and I have been bringing our cars here for years. We used to have a favorite individual repair guy, but for at least the last 7 years, all our car work has been done at CarX. Trust them completely to do the job right and not price gouge us.

These guys really helped me out when my breaks went out coming off the highway. It was a really scary experience and they explained everything awesomely and they really did give me the best price around for it. Plus the turn around was so quick. Keegan and team were professional from start to finish. I’m not from town, and didn’t know where to go but now I found my car place. Definitely give them a shot. I tried a lot of other places that didn’t treat me as great as these guys.

I went to car x for two different issues in the past two years. When my steering went out they tried to fix the the issue and sent me home. On the way home the steering went back out and it was quite scary. They received a few bad parts and they were very apologetic and helpful when this incident happened which I did appreciate. They also did the rear brakes and brake line which seem to work well. They are very helpful and make sure the customer is satisfied in the end.

Minutes before the shop closed, I called and explained I got a flat tire. They told me to still come on in and waited for me. They are super helpful and kind! Great service!

My experience at CarX was a very short one and that is great. I called around 1:30 PM and they squeezed me in for a brake service after they usually stop scheduling. Heather was very knowledgeable while assisting me with a car that was recently purchased. Came in thinking I needed a completely new brake system and was expecting to pay several hundred dollars. However, the team at Car X took the vehicle on the road, took off all tires, and inspected the vehicle. Only recommended a cleaning for the brakes since the car had been sitting.Instead of spending 100s I spent 30.00 and was happily on my way.Thank you so much for the assistance.

I have taken multiple vehicles here for the last couple years. They’ve been very helpful. My mechanical abilities are not extensive but I do change my own plugs and have swapped out wiper blade motors before. Car-X has been good to me in affordability and diagnostics. I highly recommend them for brake services.

Overpriced but good service

I have taken all of our family cars there for both routine and emergency service for well over 10 years. I have never had a bad experience. During routine service, Car-X will advise of any other issues found or items that I may want to consider for future service. After dropping a car off for non-routine service, they will troubleshoot & inspect the vehicle then call to advise cost and time to repair. On multiple occasions I have even swapped cars with my children so that we can have their car serviced by Car-X in West Lafayette instead of an out of town garage. Their service is efficient, trustworthy and fairly priced. I highly recommend them. Keegan and Heather always have a good helpful attitude and good answers to any questions!

Drop off in morning, they made 4 separate repairs in one go, picked up the car right before close. Been coming here for 4 years and the team takes care of me every time.*2020*Great customer care. Was a bit late to my appointment due to forgetting about time change, but they still serviced my car within a reasonable amount of time even while caring for multiple other customers.

They dont understand emergency situation. I believe they might care about their work but not the customers. They dont know anything about public relations.

Last night I got a flat tire and was so worried that I wouldnt be able to get it fixed on a Saturday. I pulled into CarX and they got my car in right away. All the guys were super nice. I will definitely be back.

They got me in same day and got me out in less than an hour for under $100! Had broken flange bolts on muffler and needed new gasket. The guys were friendly and talkative to my kiddos including my child with Down syndrome who unfortunately is often not acknowledged because she isnt verbal BUT the young man there made sure he connected with her and it was quite pleasant! Def a great experience!

Went in to have my battery replaced. The mechanic quoted me a reasonable price for a new battery. When he went to replace the battery he realized that the problem was that the battery cable was not fully connected. So he did not need to replace the battery. Saved me money. This Car-X has been honest and reliable. Highly recommend.

Tried this for the first time since a coupon came in and I needed an oil changed, went there and staff scheduled me an weeklong appointment (I’m not sure if this is normal to wait a week, the usual place I go just do it right away). Had the oil changed and found out it’s conventional when the coupon clearly stated synthetic, the staff is friendly though.Edit: found out they used 5w30 instead 10w30 (which is recommended oil for my car), not sure why since 5w30 is slightly more expensive and it was the summer time. Maybe it’s just what laying around on the floor that day.What I don’t understand is, they are already losing money giving this coupon to attract new customer, why wouldn’t they do it right..

Looked for a place to get my brake pads and rotors replaced. The job was done quickly and efficiently. The price wasnt bad either, beating out all competitors for the value. Will definitely go here again. Ask for Keegan, hell take care of you.

I’m entry level engineer but knows enough. Avoid this area, they play a game behind of customer. They try to hide how much it causes. And after repair it, charge you as much as they can.

Keegan has always worked with me to provide the level of service I need- Ive got one vehicle I just need to keep moving, and another my children drive (which needs to be 100%). The team here is good enough to work with my budget and preferences. And they can be damn helpful. I walked out from work to find my passenger rear wheel 1/4 off the pavement- Id picked up a nail. Nursed it to a filling station for air, then drove it to Car-X. They were obviously screamingly busy, but they did get my tire repaired, and didnt charge me a penny as Id bought those tires from them. Way better, and more personal, then getting worked over by the service departments at the dealerships.

My mom had gone here to get air in her tires, after an appointment at another place took 2 weeks to fit her in. Everything was fine until last night when the guy at the counter was rude. She went in today and the manager accused her of calling the guy a name.The manager then proceeded to ban my mom from getting air in her tires, because she was Taking advantage of it. Never going here again, never recommending to anyone. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

We were in West Lafayette to help our son move on the Purdue Campus and our drivers side window went down but would not go back up. The staff at Car-X Tire and Auto were extremely busy as it was a Saturday and it was on Purdues Move-in Weekend. His mechanic literally fixed the window and brought it to the closed position so that we could lock it and head home without worry of rain or wind-drag. In town from Kansas stranded because my car is acting up. Bad. How do I get home. No idea. Stressed beyond belief. Stopped at 6 car shops in town each one tells me they cant get me in till next week.... how do I get home.... what do I do ... these guys tell me they will try to get me in and taken care of. Again I had to stop by Carx for an unscheduled visit. Leaking tire. I tried to fill the tire at family Express tire wouldnt keep air. What a great shop. While traveling my car had issues. I showed up on a saturday before they even opened. Spoke with the asst. Manager about my situation. I told him i was traveling with my daughter who has health issues and my car over heated. He took my car right in.Checked it out thourly for 90 minutes. It was a faulty dial not over heating engine. We were relieved and they took no money for the time spent on my car. What a great shop. Super customer service.

I needed to verify if my battery was on its way out since it was barely starting my vehicle all day. I called Car-X and asked if they have time for me to bring it in to get checked. Long story short, I brought it in, they confirmed my suspicion, suggested a reasonable replacement and installed it in an hour from my initial phone call! Very impressed and satisfied!

Labor Day 2019. My Toyota Avalon car break failed front and back side. Needed rotor and many things to be replaced. Came here at 11am. Kegan made a quote and repaired all the things effectively. Service is pretty good at this place.

Great Service and very kind people: It was Saturday. I was visiting my family at West Lafayette and had a long road trip back home ahead of me. The car started to get noisy and we were not comfortable driving it back for 10 hours. Well, it was 12 pm on Saturday. I went to a few shops around town - they are all busy and almost closing up for a weekend. Did not even want to look at the car. Car-X guys were busy too, but they saved my day (and a weekend!) by agreeing to look at the car 1 hour before they close, finding the problem (it was minor) and fixing it! On a top of that - they did not even charge me for that minor repair. I felt that really good driving my family with two little kids back home knowing that the car is safe to drive. Thank you!

We have a car, truck, and company van that Keegan and his crew have taken wonderful care of over the years. Accurate quotes and good workmanship, getting us on the books in a timely fashion, and friendly customer service have definitely kept us loyal. Would recommend, 100%.

This place is fine for oil changes, but recently I took my car in there to get checked out for engine issues. The found a crack in one of the lines and repaired that, but didnt look for any other issues. I ended up taking my car into a different CarX location and have to replace my spark plugs and the O2 filter, the real root of the issue. Im not happy that they seemed to settle for the easiest fix and didnt look further into the issue.

Me and my family have been coming to car x for years and have always gotten great service and fair pricing. I highly recommend anyone I know to come here if they are experiencing issues with their car or need a simple oil change.

Car x is amazing and I really enjoy everyone that works here. Everyone is nice and was very helpful needed 2 new tires and they got them in stock for me within 20 mins! I had a hard time getting my vegical to the shop. But they stayed in contact to make sure I was coming. I got there and they started right away for me! Excellent job!

Highly recommended. I had an issue with my cars fuel line because of which it had to be towed from the middle of the road. I got it towed directly to their shop, kept it overnight and it was fixed soon. They were very professional in their service and charged me reasonably. They also complementarily checked my brakes and diagnosed the problem.

I originally found this place while price-shopping for cheap tires. Later on, I paid $700 to buy new brakes- pads, rotors, shoes, cylinders... the works. Less than a week later I heard a squeaking noise when pulling to a stop. The work was under warranty, so I brought the car back. They had the mechanic take apart his work and put it back together again. He didnt find anything. The car still squeaked. Over the next 3 months I returned the car 2 more times, and every time the same mechanic repeated the same troubleshooting procedure to no avail. He told me not to worry about the sound and that it wouldnt cause a problem. Six months later all of the newly installed brake hardware in the rear had deteriorated and broken apart. I took it to a real mechanic where it cost $800 to fix the problem- this time there was no squeaking.Dont expect good service or a thorough explanation of the problem. In fact, dont trust them to properly understand the problem! It is better to pay more for a good mechanic to identify and fix the problem than to waste your time and money on their poor workmanship.

Very bad experience there. The staff is not friendly at all. I went there for a regular oil change with that $19.9 coupon. However,when I check out,I was told that they did the best oil change and charged me a lot. I was not notified of all the changes they made. kind of deceiving. No next time definitely!!

They will do a decent job but they will overcharge you without hesitation. I was able to get price quotes for half as much as they were wanting me to pay from a local place for simple repairs.Its safe to say I will never be going back to CarX in West Lafayette.

Keegan and Chris are very honest people. They will not attempt to fix anything that is not the true problem. The quotes I have received from them is much lower than other shops around and they have already completed quality work on the 4 vehicles I have taken them. I will continue trusting them.

Whenever we leave our car for others care, trust is the most important. They ask fair price according to what they do rather than the static labor/service fee. My daughter had an issue with her car. We had it towed to Car X. Talked to Heather who assured me that they would take good care of the car. My daughter is a student at Purdue and I was not there to take a look at it. They called me promptly back and identified the problem to be a battery bolt that was not making contact. Very good experience.

I went for 150K maintenaince of my car. They recommended collant change among other things and I did agree for it and they replaced. But when I rechecked my car records(I bough this from my friend a year back), I noticed that the collant was changed last year only and it was not reqired at all. I am not sure what was the basis of their recommendation. Please avoid them if possible!!! Can not trust their recommendations.

Keegan is the man! Took my Jeep in for an alignment because I replaced some parts and the steering wheel was way off center. Due to some other issues with my Jeep they werent able to get the alignment perfect, so Keegan didnt even charge me. This amazed me since most shops will charge you if they even touch the car. He even fixed my crooked steering wheel! Very respectable people running this Car-X. I will definitely be going back.
