I am a US Army Veteran who served this country with honor. My Porsche quit running on May 6. I thought I had put too much oil in it. I had it towed to a local shop for an oil change. After the oil change it still would not crank. I then made arrangements for it to be taken to German Auto Tech in West Memphis. I’ve been there several times over the years. It arrived on May 10. They said it would not be looked at until May 25 due to covid causing technicals to be out. I stopped by on May 25 to check the progress, it had not been diagnosed. June 8, I called to check on the vehicle. I was told it was a possible head gasket issue, but they had not completed the diagnosis. I received a call on June 17 and was informed that it was a head gasket and the cost to repair would be $3500-$4900. I said ok, fix it.I called back on June 22, to check the status. They said parts have been ordered. I stopped by on June 28, June 30, July 9, July 13, and July 22 no movements on repairs. I received a call on July 28 where I was informed that it might not be a head gasket. They told me the engine might need to be replaced. This repair would cost $16k. I said no that’s alright I’m not paying that. I told them I would come pickup the vehicle. I received another call on August 2nd 12:10pm confirming the need for an engine and that they had possibly found one, and they confirmed it would be $16k. Again I said that’s alright I’ll be by to pick up the vehicle. I asked how much for the diagnosis. I was aware that the diagnosis was $125.50 before tax. At this point Heather Benson the purported manager told me I would have to pay $1,246.00 for the diagnosis. I figured she must have been mistaken. On the same day August 2nd I received another call at 2:51pm from Heather Benson. She asked if I would like to sell my vehicle based on the fact that I need a new engine. I thought this odd, so I said I would sell it for no less than $9k. I called the shop on 8/5/22. On this call I had my brother who is an Attorney. I didn’t let Benson know that he was on the call. I asked about the misdiagnosis and why I should pay for their misdiagnosis. I asked how they arrived at this amount. I asked if they could give me any documents that I signed that gave my approval as acknowledging such an increase in diagnosis. At this point Benson informed me that if I don’t bring $1,246 to the shop I would never see my vehicle again. Again I asked to speak with the owner. I wanted to work this out, she hung up on me. I picked up my vehicle on August 12, 2021. It does not turn on, it has not been repaired, the engine has been torn apart, parts of it are thrown into the trunk. The owner has not called.

Brought my car in a while ago with a special issue related to the gear shifter. Couldnt get the shifter into gear, called a number of locations that advised they couldnt complete the repair and didnt know what I was talking about. German Auto Tech advised that they were familiar with my specific issue and could repair it. They were able to complete the repair and they were able to do it in an very expeditious manner.

Jonathan at GAT has amazing customer service. Being one of the only shops that works on Smart cars within a 3 hour drive means they could probably take advantage of customers but he made sure that I understood what was going on with my engine coils. They made sure they diagnosed all the way to the root cause and provided me with the over all health of my car at the same time. While there were some things that I could have had worked on they explained the urgency of each maintenance item so that I could determine how best to proceed.Additionally, they determined that the transmission errors on my diagnostic were legacy errors that had not been cleared by the dealership when working on my car over 3 years ago >

After reading so many positive reviews I decided to give to place a try to repair the convertible for my 2003 BMW Z4. Jonathan was very professional and explained everything thing that needed to be repaired. I was totally surprised the amount for repairs were extremely lower than the dealership. German Auto Tech is the best. Their customer service and professionalism are second to none. My daughter was in town to do a nursing practicum at St. Judes Childrens Hospital, and had driven down from Grand Forks North Dakota. She had a worn set of struts that were causing her car to vibrate, and because of it the front tires were very worn. German Auto Tech diagnosed and fixed the problem, and then were able to drive the car over to the tire dealer to have the tires replaced. All on a very short timeline, because my daughter was due to drive back to North Dakota the next day. They even sent her a text to make sure that she got back okay. Do yourself a favor. If you own a German car take it to them first. You wont regret it.

I was home visiting for the holidays in West Memphis from Maryland. I brought my BMW in for repairs, so I could return home. I recently took my Smart car here, and just loved the people. Jonathon is just as great as all these reviews say he is, and he made me laugh even though my car sucks and I felt like crying. Everyone was great--very fair, very honest, very funny, very knowledgeable about the MCU which helped pass the time--and steered me away from certain services to save me money, which I of course really appreciated, because why would I put more money into a car that sucks? I would definitely go here again if I were to buy another foreign car, but I wont be buying another foreign car unless I win the lottery, sooooo....thank you all for the lovely morning! :)

My 09 BMW 328i Coupe needed an oil change. This was no ordinary oil change experience. The place is great! The staff is very knowledgable and thorough. I have a 98 Beetle. I took my car to a popular shop in town and was refused service due to the age. With it comes to foreign cars, especially European ones, it is best to go to a specialist. I got online and German Auto Techs website impressed me in a few ways. They are a family owned business (40 years now). Their site said simply if its a Volkswagen, we can fix it. Finally, you have a 15 month / 15,000 mile warranty on all the work they do. I scheduled an appointment. They fixed my car! They even had a mechanic come in to accomodate the timeline I was working with. Within minutes after picking up the car, I can tell they did a wonderful job! This is going to be my go-to shop as long as I own a European car! I already told a co-worker about them at work, who drives a Audi.

I have a 2008 VW. The first time I had my car serviced there, I was getting my timing belt replaced. Im giving them five stars for reasonable pricing and time of service. I also liked that they gave me a diagnosis of my cars overall condition, giving me a list of recommended services for my next visit along with the cost of those services. For someone who likes to know information way ahead of time, the diagnosis was greatly appreciated.

I was given a Tuesday appointment for diognostic work. I was told I could drop my BMW off on the day before (Monday). When I arrived, on Monday for drop off, I was told that they would not be able to get to my car until Wednesday because they had two important jobs that needed to be completed. I left my car expecting to hear from German Auto tech on Thursday by close, as I was told the work would be completed.(After I dropped it off it started raining cats and dog)..I ended up not going to work on Thursday, and had a ride scheduled to take me to pick my vehicle up. I called Thursday and was told that they would definitely get to it in Friday. I knew I would not have a way on Friday. German Auto tech told me I could just come pick my vehicle up on Monday.I arrived to pick up my vehicle on Monday. After I paid $125 for the diognostic, I was told that they did not know what the issue was with my car, and that I should check the solenoids in the transmission valve body. I was then told to wait outside and someone would bring my vehicle around to me. I waited for 20 minutes in the sun. I then went back indoors and tried to see what the hold up was.. nobody was at the desk. I waited another 5 minutes only to see an employee walk around the corner scratching his head. I ask him did you loose my keys? He stated I dont know. He then went back around the corner and out of sight.Agree about approximately 5 minutes the employer returned and advised me that they did in fact lose my keys. I asked if they called all of the employees that work there and he said yes, none of them have seen your keys. He advised me that they would get another key made for my car and would contact me the next day. Advice them that that was unacceptable as I have important items in my car from time to time, And that I could not have a separate key floating around on accounted for. I advised the employee that they would have to replace all of the locks in the ignition switch on my vehicle. He told me to hold on and after 10 minutes and he came back to me and stated that the owner had my keys in his pocket. he advised me that the owner moved my car the previous day after clothes and it taken my keys home. The employee (I dont know his name, white/male approximately 64 was very professional and very polite) then offering me a ride home.The next day I went to German Auto tech and was able to retrieve my vehicle, mind you I only had a transmission problem showing gear 4 incorrect ratio. I was still able to drive my vehicle and limp mode with no problem. I drove my vehicle straight home and parked it out of frustration. The very next morning I got up to check my vehicle and observed brown marks on the passenger side floorboard.. Im investigated further and found that my car had been rained inside of. My floorboard was soaked and wet and a funny smell has started to develop in my car. My carpet was staying with something brown. The only time it had rained was that Monday after I dropped my vehicle off. I called and voiced my disappointment to the staff. The staff advised that they would detail my car.I decided to forgo the detailing as I did not want them to damage my car any further. I drove my car to Memphis to a real transmission shop (Coleman Taylor) But on the way the transmission itself started smoking. Upon inspection at Coleman Taylor it was found that my vehicle which a previously been full transmission fluid, was now empty.I would never use German Auto tech in my life again. They are polite but they do not care about your vehicle. I am still considering taking legal action. By the way Im referring to the German Auto tech in West Memphis Arkansas, I know they have another location but I cannot speak on that location I simply know that its owned by the same person. Believe me, this place may do good work on Mercedes-benz but it seems they may not be equipped for BMWs or transmission work. And be careful, while some of the positive reviews are likely real people, is certain that other ones are FAKE.

German Auto Tech is an excellent repair shop to take your car to.They do an excellent job on repairing your car whether it be( in my case an entire engine rebuild) to a simple oil change. They are also fast and very affordable.

Fantastic service!!! I really want to thank the whole staff at German Auto Tech!!! They saved my whole family during our car breakdown near West Memphis. We were returning home to south Texas from Missouri when our Mercedes broke down and had to be towed in. They were able to pull in parts and get us back on the road in just a few hours. The young lady at the front counter was especially wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and helped us get comfortable while we waited.Overall, I think theyve got a tremendous operation and would recommend them to all of my friends and familyThank you again GAT for saving our drive home and getting us back on the road!!!
