The car buying experience started off well. We found a vehicle, paid a reasonable shipping charge to move the vehicle where we could easily seeit. The communication informing us the truck had arrived was mixed up. We got correct information by calling back ourselves to get correct information. We made an appointment to see the vehicle and decided to buy. We were not made aware of the RMV closing the link to transfer plates and missed it by 10 minutes. We had to leave and return in 3 days. As we were leaving to complete the transaction we were called by the CarMax sales manager who told us of an accident involving the truck which caused a side swipe damage due to a bollard being hit as the truck was being brought in to prep. We now had to wait for 3 more days to purchase the vehicle and drive it home. The dealership was courteous, the repair excellent and a few concessions were made on our behalf. All and all, I would buy a vehicle from CarMax again.
This was the easiest car buying experience we have ever had from selling our vehicle to finding another vehicle on your lot to financing to signing the final paperwork. Carmax is a great car dealership. Their employees are all so very friendly and easy to work with and an asset to the dealership. Jim our salesman was great and Savanna our business rep was also great.

Overall, the only thing that has been a positive experience from this dealership is the car that I have purchased. Beyond that...the experience has been terrible. When I traded in my car, I was informed that they would cancel the plates and the registration that was attached to that vehicle. However, this was not the case and I happened to find out about that almost two months later when I went to the dealership for an entirely unrelated issue and they gave me my old plates. As they were out of state plates, I had to mail them in, which could have been avoided if they gave me the plates at the day of sale, as I was still moving from that state at the time. My out-of-state registration was cancelled, due to the communication issues and the fact my plates hadnt been surrendered in the proper format. This has been resolved at this time, but this headache could have been avoided if the sales and business team properly communicated that they didnt cancel or surrender plates. I was told that I was told that at the time of sale; this was not the case, and it was clear that the individual I was speaking with was playing the blame game. This wasnt the first issue either, nor was it the last. Communication is key and is lacking at this dealership. Ill give two stars because of the few helpful individuals I have worked with. I sold my car with Carmax and we were blown away with how easy and straightforward the process was from beginning to end. We were checking out the private sale value of our used Volkswagen Jetta and got a notification that Carmax would offer a certain value, cash, according to the condition of our vehicle we described. This value was within the range of what we would expect to sell for privately, but without the hassle. Seemed too good to be true. So, we made an appointment anyway, but with little hope. We were so wrong! We arrived the day of our appointment and immediately someone left to appraise the vehicle. We were told within 30 minutes that the appraised value was what was offered online, and within another 20 minutes or so, we had a check and all the papers signed! Hassle free. No gimmicks. No harassing emails or phone calls. The easiest car selling experience imaginable!

I walked in with no appointment and it took thirty minutes to get my car appraised and when I brought it in for the sale it took another thirty minutes to get the check and plates. Thank you

Care was filthy, and failed state inspection. Salesman did agree to have the car detailed, and the car is scheduled to be repaired at the Carmax it was sold through. However, I live over an hour away, and have to sit there for an unknown amount of time while its repaired. (washer fluid pump doesnt work, something they could have easily checked prior to delivery)
I stopped at CarMax to look at their supply and get an ideas about how they operate. I was fortunate to meet Randy who was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I was impressed with Randy because he did not try to sell me but just kept answering question after question. Very professional.I am not yet ready to replace my car but when I am I will certainly go back to CarMax and look for Randy.
Customer service if you must call, is extremely difficult. Even though you think youre calling your local store initially, the call is routed to a national call center, and then if the call center cannot resolve your problem, you are then placed in que to the local store which you most likely wont be able to find the person you originally were working with. Too bad you just cant call your local store directly and then deal with the sales consultant or manager directly.

Online offer was by far the highest for my trade-in. I figured that once I got the car inspected in person, that number would drop. After a 20 minute inspection, they gave me EXACTLY what was originally offered. I will be trading in all of my cars to CarMax from now on!

Couldnt pay using plaid because the system couldnt find 3 different banks..had to go back with cash on a different day because it was late Saturday.. it was okay besides that payment system except for the very last part which i thought was hilarious.. someone put my plates on the wrong car and walked me out to it with the keys and i couldve drove off if i didnt notice immediately the wrong color and wrong model of car they just gave me.. the look my brother and i gave each other when they showed me the car.. priceless 😂 great people though.
I went to Carmax to purchase a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 and to trade in my truck. After agreeing on a price they tried to give me financing but the apr was way to high so the sales guy ( Gary Marsh ) told me I can get a better apr at another bank. I went and got a way better loan at another bank and was on my way back to finalize everything and Gary told me to hold off because the truck was going into the body shop to fix a scratch And it will be ready in 2 days. After 2 days I call to make sure the truck would be ready and he tells me that they have to fix an oxygen sensor and it will be a 2 week wait. I tried calling almost 2 weeks later and Gary never called me back. After looking up the truck online I found out the truck was no longer available. I went to Tucks Trucks in Hudson and they treated me well there. I would never go or recommend Carmax to anyone.

I researched a few different online companies that make internet offers and then buy your vehicle. CarMax and Carvana made similar offers, with the CarMax one being slightly higher. Vroom made an offer that was $1,700 over the CarMax one, but after reading online reviews of their process and failures to deliver upon expectations, I made the decision to go with CarMax. I was somewhat skeptical regarding what price I would get after the inspection. My concern was that I fall victim to a bait and switch routine where the actual offer would be substantially less. I was very pleased to get the exact same amount from the local CarMax dealer that I had received online. I feel that I was very honest with my evaluation of the vehicle and by doing that, I set myself up for success by not overselling the vehicle and hiding blemishes/issues. Your appraiser made quick work of the evaluation and your team was helpful, professional, and thorough. The entire experience was the most painless part of our move from MA to FL. (Lots of stress with selling the house, dealing with movers, selling a car, and all of the other logistical challenges were facing.) I highly recommend CarMax, and specifically the one located in Westborough, MA. Again, the entire team was top notch.
Extremely satisfied with my experience at carmax! Have been shopping around online for a new vehicle and one really caught my eye here so I requested a test drive online and was even pre-approved via the website. Went in the next day and was promptly greeted and seated to discuss my plans. They had me go to my car and open all doors for a no touch appraisal, took about 5 minutes. The sales woman was there waiting with my new car for the test drive. I took off, went for a ride, got out and looked around then finally headed back. Once inside there was an offer on the desk for my trade and I was quite pleased. Another half hour to complete the computer paperwork then it was off to the business office to sign everything then drive away. Bob and his whole crew where nothing but professional and very efficient. Much better than any previous dealer experience. Fast, fair and easy peasy!!

This carmax has the worst and sketchiest business practices I’ve ever dealt with. I sold them my car on 7/31 and they called my lender for a 2 week payoff amount, meaning they should have paid off the remaining balance on the loan in that 2 week time period. It has now been 17 days since they have been in possession of my vehicle and they have not paid off my lender. I’m now being told that if I don’t make a monthly payment (for a car that I no longer own) that it will affect my credit score as it’ll appear as a missed or late payment. The employees at Carmax Westborough could give me no information as to why they have yet to pay off this loan and only said “they’re working on it”. I don’t feel that I should have to make a monthly payment for a car that I have not have possession of in 17 days, nor do I want to make a payment so that Carmax can benefit from a lower payoff amount, that’s not my responsibility. Never do business here. These people are horrible, I’ll be reporting them.
I must say it was smooth transaction, I just wanted to know how much was my truck worth and they gave me such an amount, that I just couldn’t pass, no hassle what so ever .

My car got totalled so my insurance asked me to go find a car.. I picked this place as my friends recommend me to go there. I did.. people there are nice but very awkward. They did not know what to do with me and my husband for we are Deaf. We got to pick a vehicle to try it out. They told me they need few daysfor it to be delivered.Again I remind you. My car is totaled by a drunk lady that I was not even in it.. I do not have cars to use to get and from anywhere...guess what... I am still waiting for four days and I called this morning. Nope. I have to wait few more days and my rented car is back to shop.. no transportation and not knowing when I can visit I check a car out...that still has not happened so it is not good at all. Not very quick nor effective for me and husband who have to miss his work due to no car:. Still waitingScrew it.. Just don’t buy anything from this place despite the fact they have “friendly” representative. They can’t deliver what they tell me...
I wish I had a better review but my personal experience at CarMax was not good. I had a car shipped from another CarMax in Portland to the Westborough store. I got a call that my car was ready for a test drive. When I arrived the car was dirty inside and out. Stains on the interior dashboard seats and carpet. I took the test drive and noticed right away the brakes were making a grinding noise. I addressed this with sales rep and was told it would be fixed. Took a second test drive a week later. Brakes seemed better but interior still not cleaned. A total of 3 weeks that they had the car and basically nothing was done. I took the car to my mechanic and overall was in good shape but nothing was done with the brakes. They sprayed brake cleaner on the rotors. The brakes with have to be done in 3 months. Also the windshield wipers were junk and the tires were off by 11 lbs of pressure. The website clearly states interior is steam cleaned and tires are checked 15 different ways. False advertising? I spoke with manager about these issues and nothing was still done. I will never purchase another car from CarMax. Same old dealership in a different package. They don’t care about the customer just the money.
Decided to purchase my next vehicle here. I was very pleased with the speed and efficiency of CarMax. The vehicle I wanted was a state away and it was shipped free of charge. The sales rep I dealt with when I came to the store, Brian was very professional. I will definitely return when its time to purchase a vehicle for my daughter.
Car Max Westboro is a disaster. From the guy greeting me Bob who wouldnt help me look at a car or getting me someone to help me to him throwing me a sales persons card to talk to them the next day. We find out that Bob is the sales manager lol. This place doesnt care. I got pre-approved and today i call the number they said hit option 2. There is no option 2 then to a live person who transfers me to someone who is on their day off to a live person who sends me to the automated system.Car Max = DisasterBob = sales manager who doesnt care

Pre-sales was very good. Sales experience was average and a little frustrating. I financed thru external agent but was led to believe I could purchase in one day. Not possible. Sales had to call the bank to make sure my HELOC check was good. Seemed a little Mickey Mouse that they had no official financial channel to do this. And when I came back 2 days later to complete purchase, the Sales person said they needed to call the bank. I said the other guy already called the bank, so Im thinking, dont they update a record that credit was checked. They dont take credit cards which is ridiculous. They gave me a fair trade-in price and let me take a good test drive. They also charge to ship in the car that was in another city, which is part of the business cost.

Buyer beware. People were very nice. Never had an issue with anyone. The vehicle however, was not what was presented. Don’t settle for Autocheck, too soft, demand a CARFAX. Front quarter repainted. See pics of different paint and leftover masking tape at bottom of wheel well. Also the bumper was replaced. McGovern next door does the repairs then vehicle is attempted to be sold as never in an accident and no issues.
In store was just fine, support afterwards was horrendous......I shouldnt have to go to the State to get a replacement registration because you never sent me one !!!
I booked an appointment online to drive a RAV4 and then took it out for a 15 minute drive. I liked the SUV and applied on the spot for financing and agreed to buy. I came back the next day and signed everything and drove away. Honestly the very best car buying experience of my life.

When I started my search for a new car/SUV last month, I was getting discouraged. A friend whose son had recently purchased a truck at CarMax in Westboro suggested I check them out.Well let me tell you, CarMax was SUCH a breath of fresh air after having tried to work with a dealership to purchase a car. First of all, you go into CarMax knowing the price of the car. No haggling. You either like the price or you dont, there are no games.I had the pleasure of working with Jim Wironen, an incredible salesman and human being. I always felt he had my best interests at heart. I originally paid $99 to have a car shipped in from another state (CarMax can get you ANY car you want from ANY of their locations nationwide - locally there is no transfer fee at all and no obligation to buy. The further you go in distance the higher the $ rate to transfer a car but there is still no obligation to buy. If you know what you want, just go on Carmax.com and start searching yourself. On the website you can arrange for any vehicle to be transferred to Westboro or any other CarMax location. They will call you when the car arrives.) I decided against the first car I had transferred in and told Jim he could sell it. (It sold the next day!) I found another CarMax car that was at another location here in MA and I arranged to have that one transferred to Westboro at no charge.I met with Jim once the car came in and after a test drive I decided that this one was more to my liking. Jim drew up all the paperwork for me and we met after I arranged all my financing. (CarMax offers their own financing, at very reasonable rates, but but I chose to arrange my own financing.)I met with Jim the day we were to finalize everything. He once again stressed that I had 7 days to return the car if for ANY reason I decided it was not the car for me. He assured me that he wanted me to be happy, and if this was not the car for me he would search for another for me. He truly had my best interests at heart. We went through all the paperwork on the day I picked up my car and every person I dealt with in the office was just wonderful.The car (SUV) I chose is 4-5 years old, very low mileage, and it looks brand new. Im thrilled with my CarMax experience. When it comes time for me to look for another vehicle I will definitely contact Jim and head back to CarMax. Im so very happy my friend suggested I check them out!
