First-and-last-time customer. I called to get a price for a due oil and brake fluid change, and gave my car make, year, and model. After we dropped off the car, they called to tell us theyd made a mistake, and that the price would be higher. They ended up charging us almost twice as much as what they quoted. When I called to follow up, when asked, they said they ran into no unusual problems with the servicing and wouldnt honor their original quote.EDIT: Ryans response below contains apparently fabricated facts. When I called to follow up after examining the $400+ bill, he told me that he was not the person I spoke with who gave me the prices in advance. And the guy I did speak with was clear and unambiguous about the prices, gave specifics, did not tell me it was an estimate, did not say anything about the possibility of charging a different price for the oil and brake fluid change once they had my car. I took contemporaneous notes as I always do when asking for service quotes. Determining the actual price for a specific cars oil and brake fluid change is not, in fact, rocket science. And whether or not we are in a pandemic does not excuse fraudulent bait-and-switch business behavior. I will definitely bring our cars elsewhere.

We have relocated to Wisconsin, but make sure we are able to return for any service we may need on our cars. They are the best!!

Stay away from this place they seem like honest people but don’t let them fool you. I bought a 2003 Toyota Rav 4 in good condition and low mileage from Ryan. Check engine light went on the next day.Bought it back got the check engine light off. July 20th check engine light went on again I live in lake Zurich so I didn’t want to go to Wilmette again. Took the car to Stephens automotive in palatine a way better repair shop they told me before you sold me the car a new gas tank was installed and you didn’t install it correctly $1000 repair. It cost me $460 in labor. $121.39 for a new fuel vapor pressure control valve. $325.82 for a new vapor canister and $23.70 for a fuel cap tether. You should be ashamed of yourself you knew about all the problems with the car you were selling me and lied to be about everything you lost one customer for sure and I hope you lose more.

Brought my 2006 BMW in for a starter replacement *cringe*. While it was there we discovered what was once a small oil leak had turned into a large one at the valve cover seal. They replaced the starter, replaced the gasket on the valve cover and did an incredible job cleaning up the mess. My once oily engine bay is now spotless with wires/connectors wiped clean, belly pan washed out and every surface seemingly scrubbed by hand. Their GM, Ryan, was fantastic with communication and is a true professional. Great service and most of all very fair pricing for such exceptional caliber of work. I know where Im bringing my vehicles and sending my friends from now on!

I took my high-school sons hand me down BMW to Northshore Automotive for an oil change and a variety of warning lights - SRS system, license plate lights etc. Theyre part of Costcos Auto Program and that is how they came on my radar. Having been a Costco customer for nearly 20 years, I implicitly trust any vendor associated with Costco.The experience of scheduling an appointment, dropping it off, getting calls and explanation for repair work to be done were all exemplary. Ryan said both brakes had to be replaced as was the oil filter housing (total of approx. $3K cost). I dropped the car off a little after 730 am (immediately after front office personnel showed up) and got a call from Ryan around 530 pm that the car was ready to be picked up.I ended up picking the car the next day and paid the dues incl. the Costco discount and praised them for their work and my experience and felt Id found my car repair shop for life. When I got home, I went through the invoice in detail and the cumulative labor was 13 hours! Not clear how this is even possible when the work was completed in under 10 hours, assuming the tech was working on it every single minute from drop-off to when I was told the car was ready for pick-up. In a follow-up visit, I inquired about this and was told that a cumulative total of all individual jobs was standard practice, without a cap on hours per day. This seems unethical and I was disappointed and makes me wonder if theyre just another car repair shop but with a friendly front-desk staff?!

Not only scheduled maintenance service, but urgent fit-ins! I was just on my way to a distant destination when a part of my car -- unknowingly damaged by a previous accident -- broke and began causing an ominous rattle. Northshore fit me in, repaired the damage and put me back enroute withing a very short time so I could make my destination that day. Regular maintenance has been just as good: reliable notices, ready appointments, prompt service; warnings of new or impending needs for attention in the car. Courtesy is always there, references to other reliable service come when indicated. We are very pleased and recommend Northshore Automotive heartily.

This is maybe my first ever online review, but when I tell you that these guys are honest beyond compare, give amazing service, and play NO games, I am not exaggerating. They have serviced my car for years.Heres my story.1) They kept my 11 year old Prius running in top condition and recommended reasonable repairs (we had a headlight stability sensor issue and they recommended not to replace it towards the end of the cars life2) We bought a used Corolla from them. No games, great car, honest price. Just what we needed.3) When my current Prius broke down, had it towed over there (this is the first time they are seeing this car). They called, discussed that the car is almost certainly covered by dealer warranty, called over to the dealership and discussed this issue with the service manager, and are currently supervising the towing of my car over there.Cannot say enough about how honest and good these guys are. They deserve all the business you can give them.

I should have wrote this review weeks ago, but better late than never! Im new to the area and had some car work that NEEDED to be done. I took a stab in the dark and chose to go to Northshore and let me tell you, Ive never left a car shop happier. Ladies, Im going to be honest here, car shops tend to be an environment that isnt very welcoming to women but I felt so respected as a customer and never was talked down to. They showed me clear as day what was wrong with my car and were very straight up and honest with what it would cost to fix it. Not only that, but when we made the appointment to get it fixed the next day, they had a shuttle take me to and pick me up from work.Fair warning, they arent going to go cheap, but they will do good and fast work. I will only go here now.

Ive been a customer of Northshore Automotive for years. Service has always been friendly, prompt, and customer oriented. Tim, the owner, runs a great shop. I also bought my current car from him.

About 3 months ago I was introduced to this Garage, after needing a second opinion on my vehicle. After the diagnostic check they listed all the cars problems in priority of needing to be fixed, quoted me the total, and said they could have it done in 3 days. 3 days and almost 3 months later, my car, other then needing tires, and a little work on the front passenger suspension, rides like it did 6 years ago when it was new. They are honest, and fair. I will go to them the rest of the time I live in IL. Which hopefully wont be much longer, no offense.

On a recent visit to Chicago, my 2003 Passat wagon was overheating -- and I needed to head out of town. Northshore Automotive took me in as a walk-in, put my car at the head of the queue as an emergency, diagnosed the broken fan and fan assembly clutch, got the part in and repaired it while I drank coffee and worked on my computer at the Paneras a block away. I was back on the road in three hours. I dont know if the $800 charge (half parts, half labor) was a super cheap deal, but it seemed reasonable to me and I was very happy to pay it. They treated me very well, explained everything carefully, and fixed the car. They won my confidence completely.
