This is the most interactive Magic the gathering shop in town. The owner is willing to work with anybody on magic singles, and is always involved throwing tournaments. You feel welcomed, and not like youre annoying them. Every other shop in town Ive been to gets annoyed with their customers so fast, and they dont know much about the game anyways.
A couple years ago Id have given this place 5 stars. Not sure what happened but now it is quite unorganized with cards lying everywhere. The worker was attentive when you needed him but was playing a game of commander with the shop a mess. Their selection used to be amazing, they must not be buying as much because the selection is dwindling. Hope they turn it around.
This place is a rip off for trading cards. If you get in store credit they will give a fair trade but for cash they take advantage. I was priced out @30% of the lowest buying value. Then they dont want to take all the cards I have. Just pick my very best cards and offer me $6 on a $40 card. Just sell your cards online no store in Albuquerque is going to give you a fair deal. This place and Nobles will rip you off and sell your cards for a 400% mark up.
Store is small, but well stocked. Donald was very helpful and pleasant to all customers while I was there. They have graded Pokemon cards and Magic ThevGathering cards as well as common cards for purchase.
I use to give them 5 stars and was completely loyal to the cave because they let casual free games happen there. The owner (Angelo) among others gossiped and labeled me in a group of people that did them wrong. I would leave them at 3-4 stars if they were just professional but lying about me behind my back and claiming, I am guilty by association just because I was respectful to people that did them wrong and I didnt even know until after I was mislabeled. Im surprised more people havent given them 1 star for their bull. So I only recommend to new people, get your cards there if you cant find them online where it is always easier and dont bother trying to make friends with people that gossip behind peoples backs.
Cool people good service and great prices.
Great place, great atmosphere, great customer service. I went to trade cards and left feeling complete. Ha but seriously if you like magic you will dig this place.
Great little MTG card shop and play space. They have good inventory and helpful staff. My only complaint is that sometimes staff are distracted talking to customers who are playing at the tables. But thats understandable, as thats one of their positives: several tables for game nights. They also have some snacks available
I came from out of town hoping to do a friday night draft. Turns out they dont draft here. But, they were playing commander and one fine gent let me use a deck. The game was fun and friendly. By the time I left, people knew my name. Ill also add that the singles selection here is excellent and they price them based on the going market price, no big shop mark ups. Id be a regular here if not for the fact I live 1000 miles away.
I think the people that work there are great!!
Plenty of stock, new and curated. also a great place to get your prerelease cards!
Good selection of single cards but not much in the way of sealed product. And very rare to see anything for new players.
Lots of cards and easy to talk to staff. Entered for the hell of it, left with the start of a commander deck.
Awesome environment! Great prices and helpful staff when not busy. Sometimes it gets packed but they dont leave you hanging.
Initially seems like a good place, I had fun hanging out. I went in today to try to play a modern event that I was told started at 7:00 PM. When I got there at 5 til I was told the event started at 6:30 and I could enter with a round 1 loss. I showed the gentleman who was running the event the message from the store about the time, but he just stuck with I could enter with a loss. I shouldnt have to get a handicap in an event based on the stores bad communication. I know its a minor issue, but it ruined the entire point of me driving across the city tonight. I would still have rated well if ANY attempt was made to fix the issue.
The owner is a complete psychopath. After losing a game, he made threats against me and acted like he was going to assault me. Its a shame, because the people in the community are actually really nice...Edit: Yeah, the response really shows the character of the owners. I never attempted to steal a thing. I never harassed or belittled any younger players: Instead of owning up to their mistakes, they lash out like children. The fact that they have to spin wild stories like this is simply sad.At the end of the day, its their word against mine. Theres nothing I can do to change that. However, there are plenty of other stores ran by decent, honest people. Consider doing business with them, before this owner loses his temper and turns on you too.
Great friendly place to play MGT and find some amazing deals. Biggest single card selection in town.
Went to the card shop just to check them out and see if they would let me sell cards and they bought most of what i wanted to sell. Love this place as the name matches the store. They also have a better variety on singles and lowest price possible
The largest and best magic the gathering selection of singles. Fair secondary market trading! Good player base! Friendliest staff for mtg gaming in Albuquerque! if you want to learn mtg, or just want to bolster your collection, stop by eclectic cave and say hi!
Nerds..
Went in to the store today for the first time to spend $300 on Magic cards with my family. What a beautiful ambiance of Magic The Gathering card game!! I was really excited to buy their excellent variety of cards. We were even kindly greeted. Then, all that goodness went to hell when we were COMPLETELY ignored. We even had cards in mind that we wanted to buy there. We became a shadow of unseen, we decided to take our business elswhere to a nearby game store where we had a much better experience. I would have gave a 1 if it werent for the look and feel of the store. I hope the customer service changes for the best interest of the business.
It was nice to meet the owner? Manager? Curator? Im not a Magic the Gathering player, but rather, I popped in from curiousity. As I was guided around, I decided not to waste too much time browsing. I attempted to purchase an energy drink and toaster pastry, but unfortunately was ignored at the register for 5 minutes. I put my items back and left without so much as a goodbye from the gentleman working inside. I would highly suggest the business if you are an avid player of the popular card game, however, let this stand as a warning to wanderers who are easily piqued or inquisitive to the offerings of the business.
Good community, good prices. Nough said.
I am so impressed with this shop. The prices and buyback on cards is incredible. The customer service is UNBEATABLE! As a new player Im so glad I choose this shop to play, learn, and buy at.
I frequent this business, they are the most knowledgeable MTG in town. They have always been fair with me when Im trading, selling, or buying cards. As most other card brokers in town refuse to pay more than even a third of any cards value Im definitely a fan of this business and more importantly its employees, furthermore I highly recommended the Cave to anybody with interests in Magic The Gathering.
Great local game store! Owner was super nice and even gave me a $4 discount on Exquisite Blood since it was my first time in the store. If you are in Alb looking for a LGS, def check this place out!
This is a pretty good magic shop. You can buy packs and singles, and the people are friendly. However, it is frequently difficult to get help at the register. This is partly due to their having two disconnected storefronts, so part of the time, you are out of luck.
If you are into card games this is the place for you in the downtown Albuquerque area. The service was good, the person helping was approachable and kind. A bit small small as far as the room where the cards are, but the card selection is solid and reasonably priced. Overall, would recommend and I will always try to go here for all my magic needs.
Easily the most casual place to play at. They got two rooms to play so you can bring a group of your friends for private play otr tournaments and not be boxed in. The people are friendly and play magic with you, prices are really fair, and decore looks funny. Anyways cool place to play Magic: The Gathering
Great staff. Reasonable prices. And the staff will haggle when selling to them; not to mention theyll tell u to just take cards if they cheap enough.
The epitome of a local card store, perfect atmosphere, great singles selection, with an invititing friendly team of staff.
Great place to hangout and play some games
Had become fairly close with the owner of this place until with out even bothering to see what was going on or why he snapped and started acting like an enemy. Well I can understand were he was coming from even though I do not agree with the way it was handled. So I would still send friends and anyone who asked to this place as even though I had a falling out with the owner I still thought he had a good shop and did good business for the most part until one of my friends who had taken cards there a few time to get advice as to the authenticity of cards and if authenticated then to sell when out of no where, on one visit the owner snaps on her and keeps all of her cards claiming that they are fake. (all of which I had personally verified as authentic with no if ands or buts) one of which was a mountain basic land from Arabian Nights. Even if they were which they were not as I can vouch, you have no right to keep her personal property no matter what you think. I want to warn others to be careful with what you take here as I do not like to assume thing I will not say this is a scam but I can speak from personal experience when I say there are other shops in abq with less risk. Update: Do not know what they are talking about below but yes you should definitely report counterfeits. Also thats not my last name. I wonder if you are talking about someone completely different. I am sorry if you feel that way but I am just sharing my experience.
Fun friendly environment. Plenty of seating, snacks and drinks for sale, affordable pricing for card collectors. Very low price admissions for Magic the Gathering tournaments.
One of the best places to play magic love the culture to bad they dont pay for the products that they charge for it I was told when I first started purchasing my collection there that they would but the cards back if I ever wanted return on my investment to find out that I cant even get anything close back on the supposed value of the products
First time in the shop and I couodnt believe a great selection including pre made decks not a bad place
Attracts a good crowd for tournaments. Fair judges. Friendly owner and employees. Been coming off and on for over a year with all good experiences.
This store is the best ive been to for any game ever they also have the answers for all new players and even expert players
Great selection, knowledgeable staff, comfortable environment for both tournament games as well as casual.
Best LGS in town for constructed MTG events. Great singles selection.
Hands down the best store to get your mtg cards and accessories. Good prices always works with me the owner has taken cards out of his own personal collection to help me get what i need.
Best game store in Albuquerque. It has a great selection, good environment and player base, very friendly staff and occasional free pizza at their frequent and well paying tournament nights.
This is where I first learned to play Magic. Its pretty nice here, Ive only been a few times, but its always good. 😊
This hidden gem is a great place for MtG enthuists. They also sell/buy cards at reasonable rates. Friendly staff.
Awesome place and awesome people.
Great shop, wonderful staff, lots of staple cards end up here. I go here first if I need something for a deck.
Love Magic The Gathering? This shop has everything you need, along with some cool shwag and assorted geekery.
If you like Magic: The Gathering, this is a good place to get cards or play in tournaments. My only complaint is that the store is a little cramped, and it would be nice if they offered some other products besides just MTG
Horribly rude staff, trying to take advantage of anyone they think they can get over on and using off the wall pricing to get more for their stuff and give you nothing. They also make fun of you as soon as you leave.
One of the best places, that is totally dedicated to Magic The Gathering.
Very friendly staff and an incredible selection
I had an amazing time there
Fun place with helpful employees.
Great card shop full of great people
The guy manning the store was really helpful, friendly and informative. Glad I stopped in.
