Milli is the kind of business that makes me love living in a small town. Quality coffee and food. Creative and dedicated management. Friendly employees who treat their job as a craft. And an atmosphere that is somehow well suited to both cheerful conversations and quiet productivity. Charlottesville has a lot of great coffee shops. This is something else — the kind of place that welcomes you in and warms your heart as you pass through the threshold.
Milli has been a go-to during my time in C’ville. It’s hard to find a place that’s consistent in the flavor of their coffee. Every time I’ve been here, the taste of the coffee has always shone through - not over powered by milk, sugar, or flavoring - whether in their coffee or lattes. I’ve even had their “adult” coffee with a shot of Bailey’s. They also have dairy substitutes, and whipped cream available (my preference is oat milk). Also, if you become a regular, I recommend getting a rewards account. The rewards are pretty good, and can get you anything from a free coffee, to a smoothie, to a waffle. I’d recommend this to anyone visiting C’ville or looking for a good coffee spot.Atmosphere is also very chill. More difficult to enjoy due to COVID, but they make really good use of the space they have. Limited outdoor seating, but still existent. Didn’t see any outdoor outlets, but if you’re comfortable sitting indoors, it’s a nice space to study and/or work.By the way, their waffles are good 🔥🔥
Not the best experience, was ignored for a few minutes (I didnt expect to be helped right away, but acknowledging I was there would be nice) and I waited while they made the food for the 4 customers behind me in line before they made my cappuccino (which was good but not amazing). I was there for a while. And I swear the employee rolled his eyes at me when I said have a great day, whatever
I loooove this place. I was a student at UVA and I would always come here for a late night waffle and some coffee when studying for exams. They have delicious waffles (my favorite is the specialty brie and apple, SO GOOD) and espresso drinks. The vibe is great, the staff is friendly and the location is convenient. Charlottesville has a lot of great local coffee shops but this one takes the cake!
Was a very nice place. Back in the days I use to sit under the umbrella writing papers. There were some seats in the shop that provided not only charming views of the streets, but also magical inspirations. But the owner’s response to the pandemic have turned this place into a coffee stand. Most comfortable sofas are not gone, and the people I used to see are also gone. This used to be a place where great ideas were born for f sake. Looks like now they run a significant operation of online sales, I guess customers who spend time in the shops don’t matter that much for them anymore.
Glad we stopped here for the morning brew! But also could be a good stop for an afternoon or evening brew (craft beer and wine selection was great!) The service was very good and fast. The atmosphere is very relaxed and seemed like it would be a great place to get some work done. Even the outside seating would be a nice option.
Convenient location, wonderful coffee and tea, and delicious nibbles. Staff are always helpful and fun to talk to. My personal favorite drink right now is the London Fog Tea but everything is good here!
After enjoying Millie coffee for many years, my wife and I will no longer patronize this business because of offensive signs posted inside. Its unfortunate that some businesses feel compelled to wade into social issues that have nothing to do with selling coffee. Fortunately, there are several great shops in Charlottesville to enjoy coffee without the insulting social justice preaching.
Bought a mocha latte, and a caramel latte today. Highly disappointed. Do you want chocolate milk or caramel milk? This place might be a go to for you. If you want actual coffee you’re better off going across the parking lot to the McDonald’s. Was there even espresso in my drink? The only way I can describe it is if you tried to reuse drip coffee grounds and threw the watered down sludge into the drink. Literally couldn’t taste any coffee. Would never go here again. Pretty nice patio and inside though. Also the barista was really nice and really fast. Doesn’t make up for literally the worst coffee I’ve ever had...
Food is good. But one of the hostess there wasn’t friendly or respectful.
Great coffee shop. Friendly staff, one of the best sugar free vanilla lattes Ive ever had. The gluten-free Mediterranean quiche was also excellent. Definitely recommend!
Good matcha latte. Prices are responsible
Very friendly staff! An all-around great place to start your morning
Great service, good decaf which is hard to find and a great dirty chai, not too sweet. Excellent find driving down Route 29!
Excellent service, easy online ordering, friendly staff, delicious food, and of course great coffee.
This is a wonderful spacious coffee shop with inside and outside seating. Definitely ask for their homemade almond milk!
The barista, Aurora, is spreading very nasty rumors about me to the other customers. I will still go there and be polite to her, but the owners should know this is happening.
The inside vibe is quite nice. The music is not overbearing loud like at some other places, and drink menu is simple and well focused. I went with the vanilla iced tea with almond milk, at the recommendation of the barrista, and I found it to be a quite powerfully caffenated, well balenced drink. There wasnt an overload of sugar, but rather I could pick out the different elements, the slight hint of vanilla that followed the slightly bitter coffee taste, with a bit of that characteristically weird sweet the nut milk provided.
We had a mocha and cortado. Wonderful atmosphere and easy parking. Great coffee!
I live in Orange and find excuses to come into Charlottesville just so I can grab a latte from Milli’s - best coffee in town. I love their online order feature and earning rewards for free coffees to treat my friends! The staff is always so friendly, helpful and patient even when they’re busy. The patio is the best place to catch up with friends (at a safe distance from others) and the staff is SO good at kindly reminding all customers to wear masks. Grateful they’ve increased their hours recently too!
I have really come to love this coffee shop. Im not a true coffee connoisseur by no means but I like a real, good, cup of coffee. This is a real coffee shop where the folks know how to make a good cup of coffee. The food is simple but good, the atmosphere is cozy but friendly, and you get your coffee in a real cup !
Really nice people but the coffee has become bad
I ordered delivery today, and it was delivered on time. I just wasnt crazy about the order. I got the brie panino, a latte, and a smoothie. All of the brie had melted off of the sandwich, and made the bread soggy, the smoothie was very watered-down, and the latte lacked flavor. I am assuming all of this is because of the food being delivered. I would hope that dining in/picking up, that the quality would be better. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I dont believe I will be ordering from here again.
One of the best coffee places in town. Since COVID we have been ordering or weekend coffee from here. Usually done quick and on time, though I usually go e.the. extra time on Sunday when they are busy. Also got their waffles for the first time this week. Very good and already sweet. No need to add anything.
Excellent baristas and drinks (coffee, tea, smoothies), artsy, chill. Good homemade waffles, classy grilled cheese. Ive never had any issue with parking, which people tend to complain about. There are plenty of spaces in the lot next to the building.
5 stars for the apple and brie on a waffle.
Loved the adult coffee! And their paninis!Perfect outdoor/indoor seating
The latte here will make your day shine, and the staff is always wonderful and friendly. I’m so glad this place exists! And the new food and drink options from the last year are incredible as well. Five stars!
Millies is simply a great place. Relaxed atmosphere, good coffee and with an understandably loyal customer base.
The service is terrible. I ordered 25 minutes ago online. Waiting here in the store for more than 10 minutes. They seem less interested for online orders vs customer in the store. Won’t order from here again.
I love the food and people here!!! Very nice and professional
Really great coffee with on-site roaster, lots of drink options, friendly and accommodating staff
Good coffee good people
We’re home baristas, nearly obsessive about our beans—but this is where we get a good crema when visiting Cville
The employees were friendly and courteous, even though I came in close to closing time. I didn’t feel rushed at all, and appreciated the service.
Freshly roasted AND Freshly brewed coffee (& coffee drinks !!) WOW ! What a pleasant surprise. When we are on the road, I have moderate-low expectations of finding a good coffee shop. This place blew my mind!. The lattes we had were perfect with latte art. The baristas were skilled and very personable. When a spot does an amazing job, I want to thank them publicly.
One of the best coffee shops I have ever been to. Awsome service!
One of my favorite places in C-ville! A truly great place to have a coffee and get work done. If they are roasting beans, the place ends up smelling divine!
My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Monday morning and ordered an espresso and a latte. I like to order espresso because you get to see the true essence of the coffee that a barista is making. Theres no milks or syrups or flavors to hide behind. Milli did really well with the espresso and made a solid latte. I was very happy with both. They also have socially distanced tables if you want to sit for a little while. I do miss the liveliness and diversity of patrons from the pre-covid days, but thats just the present state of the world. Something to look forward to, I suppose!Great coffee, great baristas. Definitely stop by!
Great coffee shop with reasonably priced drinks and a really nice atmosphere!! The music is on point as well! One of my friends strongly recommended their waffles so I will definitely be back to try those as well!
I like the space inside and outside to sit and hangout, its a nice coffee shop. I did not like there lattes though. Both times Ive gotten a small latte it was extremely over priced (over $5!l for a really small cup thats half ice!) And was 90% milk. I hated it both time and wouldnt buy coffee here ever again but Id come just to sit and hanout. They have couches and comfortable chairs both inside and outside. I think they also have a couple smoothies here too.
Very cool coffee joint. They roast their own beans, in a big Victorian-looking machine in front, which, if youre lucky, will be running (and emitting wonderful smells). They offer interesting food, too, like Liege-Style Belgian Waffles.
My greatest overall impression is that Milli is cozy. I arrived at a moderately busy time and ordered their Single Origin Java pour over and still received my drink quickly, and the quality was absolutely fantastic. I enjoy the way the bar and menu are set up, though the side table is in an odd place, and the open concept of the space allows for a very nice relaxed atmosphere. The customer service was average in the best way (for me), I ordered a drink and got my drink quickly with no chit-chat. The menu is diverse if not as fleshed out as their competition in the area, but they make up for it in the food department. Overall I had a wonderful experience, they seem to be going for a cozy study-space and they hit this environment perfectly, Ill definitely come back to try other things on their menu.
Long wait for mediocre coffee, took them 15 mins to make us coffee while we were just standing a waiting. Cool painted pictures on the walls, though...
Pandemic or not, Ive always felt safe and comfortable at Milli. Their almond milk is my favorite in town.
Very nice coffee shop. Good selection of coffee types at good prices. Nice comfortable environment. They also have a limited food selection with some wines, but I havent tried those.
The coffee is unbelievably good! Nice atmosphere, good service.
Its got to be the best coffee house in town. Funner than a family trip to Fuji. More selections that a trip to the amusement park, better staff than 5 star resort, great atmosphere. You must ask john the owner for his house choice of the day and you must try the breva cappuccino, Nicks favorite drink. Short drive from anywhere in town. Bang and youz is there!
Milli is great. There is plenty of seating space, with nooks to hideout in as well as a patio, within walking distance of the downtown mall. The only issue I have is the mugs. They spill so easily, so I always order my drinks to go.
They truly have the best coffee. I visited Greensboro NC for a week and searched every day for equivalent goods... didnt find it. Im not sure what they do, but whatever it is, they have turned me into a coffee snob. Friendly staff and a cool environment just make this place. Their waffles are GREAT. I love the house-special most of all.
Really nice baristas, big interior with lots of tables but it seems to fill up pretty quick with uva students/people writing the next great A24 coming of age film.
They create and brew their own tea which is absolutely delicious. Cant say enough good things about this place. The baristas were all very friendly. The atmosphere is great and scholarly. Sat and played chess while sipping my tea. It was awesome.
Quiet place to work or meet. Try the Acevedo coffee. It’s amazing and unique. The baristas here focus on making the perfect cup of coffee. Beans measured precisely - water weighed to the ounce.
Really good coffee, roasted right there, incredible hours, open more than almost any other coffeehouse in town, and they have these really delicious waffles available all day.
Nick is a great hand-on owner. Love the vibe of the shop. Really like their new late night hours. Cant believe I hadnt already given them a 5 star review!
Cool place. Nice vibe. A great pot of tea!
My favorite coffee shop in town. Im here almost every day because their staff, coffee, and location are all fantastic. Their coffee beans are roasted in house. The coffee itself is lightly roasted, but full of flavor. Also, you can almost bet that youll have that Instagram worthy latte whenever you order one.Nick and his staff do a wonderful job of keeping things moving in line, and welcoming everyone into the shop. The only downfall of the place is that they could use a couple more outlets seeing that this is a good study spot for students and the forever-students.
Excellent coffee, a limited yet clever food menu, a relaxed hipster vibe, and a ton of workspace make this a local favorite! The grilled cheese with horseradish is a great snack, and the iced coffee is very tasty.
One of, if not the, best coffee place in Charlottesville. Great service and great coffee
Most excellent latte, rich, robust and smooth. Just about perfect! Real Belgian Liege waffle with fresh strawberries. Made and served by warm and friendly people.,
Nice comfy place to chill, good hot flavorful coffee, next time gonna try a waffle
Great atmosphere... good ☕! Free wifi lots of people getting there tech on! Indoor and out door setting. Quiet ambiance good for easy mornings.
Great people and great coffee. Very relaxing place.
My favorite coffee shop in Charlottesville! Great atmosphere and the staff are always friendly. Not to mention the coffee is the best!
Milli Coffee has a great atmosphere for a cafe. The seating is not as packed as say Mudhouse but its got a nice size for the seating and its not too loud. The employees are all super friendly and the owner is there a lot overseeing roasting or just chatting with the regulars. The also have outdoor seating. Great place for meeting someone to chat. Only con: parking is limited and the lot is a little hard to find because its only accessible going south on McIntire road.
Great food and coffee!!
Delicious single origin coffee and a good selection of tasty food
My lady and I come here often now since moving to Charlottesville. Were pretty snobby when it comes to coffee and this place delivers a superb drip and exceptional lattes. We come here and work for hours on end. Very comfortable atmosphere and great staff.
Good cheese panini and Mocha. Straight up basic Colloge/locals and travelers grind and grill shop. Do visit
Very Friendly Atmosphere serving the best coffee in our town. A very thoughtful collection of wines. Only place in town where you can hangout and work until midnight!
The BEST coffee roaster/shop/experience in Downtown Cville. I love it when they are roasting their delicious beans. Plenty of options for seating. A great place to read, study, chat, date, or just sit and enjoy the sensory input. A gem of a place!
Great place for coffee, pastries and Wi-Fi!
Coffee is so good! Good amount of seating. Do have food, wine, and beer as an option too. Parking is pretty limited though.
Great Spot with good pour- over. Waffle w Brie and Apple was a tasty way to start the day! Ill be back...
Coffee was good, food was okay...
Great coffee! Closed temporarily (sign on door on 5/18) until June 2019
Go, now. Trust me! Cool decor and phenomenal coffee. I dont think Ill ever go to Starbucks or mudhouse ever again. The only negative is that I didnt discover this location sooner!!!
These guys are awesome, My favorite drink is a Large iced Redeye (a cup of coffee with a shot or two of espresso) and everywhere else I get it is good, but theirs is exceptional, smooth and nice every single time, and the service is amazing. If you are in the area you HAVE TO experience it for yourself!Oh, The Honey Orange Syrup is one of the most spectacular additions to coffee Ive ever had, dont miss out!
Great coffee!
Great coffee shop and roaster with a fly problem. I like everything except the flies. Put up some fly paper or send the swat squad in, lose the pests and this place could be perfect.
Americano was pretty weak.
My favorite coffee shop. Personal service is top notch. And the coffee is unique and delicious. An appealing and positive environment to boot.
Favorite Cappuccino in Charlottesville!!Roasting their own great beans; opening extended hours, parking lot, food, beer & wine. Art on display, open, large space with ample seating & patio. 👌👌
Good patio and great coffee.
This place drips authenticity. Nicks vision was awesome.
I have attended this restaurant many times for a club function have eaten there many times I found the food fantastic the staff helpful and the area very clean
This is my new favorite coffee spot. They have very talented baristas, great espresso, parking, and theyre open later than any other cafe which is perfect for working late or meeting up with friends
This place is cute, has great coffee and options, and is centrally located with convenient parking
Good service, Good coffee. Nice atmosphere
Great coffee place. Always crowded, and wish it wouldnt, but think that shows that its a great place
I go here everyday, and it is a great place to study or socialize over coffee. Coffee is quality.
I gained 10 hipster points by drinking their coffee. I came in wearing Nikes. I left wearing vintage checkered Vans.
The coffee was awful. I ordered a mocha to go, and it was about 3/4 full with not even a hint of sweetness or chocolate flavor. Wont be going back.
