We recently had new carpeting installed by Carpet Exchange. The showroom at, 410 N. Academy, Colorado Springs has a huge variety of excellent carpeting and our sales person, Daniel G., was wonderful: professional, courteous and we received excellent service from him. He was always available to answer our questions and was extremely helpful in the selection of carpeting. The installation crew and Romero were efficient and did an excellent job installing the carpet and picking up/cleaning upon completion. Highly recommend carpet Exchange on North academy.
Great flooring variety. All qualities, from high-end to more affordable. You can look at hardwood, engineered wood, vinyl plank, vinyl tile, tile, carpet and more all in one place. More variety and choice than the big box stores. Great prices also.
Update: I want to come back and thank the very nice gentleman who contacted me personally to apologize for my experience with the installers for carpet exchange. That is very professional and credible as a business owner and human. Thank you!Original post: Overall the experience was OK. The carpet that I originally selected was being measured to the inch. I notified the salesperson and she insisted to continue to try to make it work. I was then called back the next day or two stating the pieces she had were not going to work and to come look at another option. It looks the same, but after install it does not fill the same. My major issue was with the install. Carpet Exchange inflates the prices of carpet to subcontract the work. Super disappointing as they dont place value in their company when they allow subs to come to their customers home. On install day the installers showed up minutes before the end of the 2 hour window. The man was very hung over and it was clear. He asked to use our restroom 6 times while he was their. He then took a long extended break, I am sure because he was ill, but I literally had 2 rooms to get done and it almost took 4 hours. I could tell his co-worker was annoyed, but it was even more annoying to a home owner who thought this would be a quick process but due to the Friday night partying, we lost our entire day as we watched this installer be hung over all day. I have never had a contractor ask to use my restroom, none the less 6 times. And it wasnt a problem allowing him, but you could tell this was a problem during the install. If it were my business, think twice about your subs if that is how you want them to represent your company.
The employee I worked with for choosing carpet and take measurements was great. Not impressed with installation. Had the carpet put in about a month ago to sell my home. As I start looking around I noticed a lot of cheap workmanship. They cut the carpet too short in a corner of my master bedroom and it doesn’t reach under the baseboard. It is frayed and a hazard for my animal to chew on.
Completely unprofessional. Warehouse was too full to even cut carpet. Will not be using them again.
If I ever buy another house and need flooring done, I know who I’m calling!Greg is amazing. He steered us away from products that certainly would have made more money (in both materials AND labor) to a quality flooring that better fit our needs.Whether it’s coming in for initial estimate, or the actual work of installing the flooring, TJ’s is very respectful, expedient, and meticulous when working in your home. It took an extra day than anticipated, but I’m grateful they’d rather add a day than to do a shoddy job. (Not their fault. Our tile was a nightmare to remove.) We even opted to go with them for additional work we needed for the baseboards.Note: We had an amazing experience from day one, and am saddened to have read Linda had such a different experience. I do hope that situation is rectified.
Very friendly and very helpful and super nice and they had what we needed.
They have always had or could get what I want in flooring at competitive prices. Customer service is excellent.
I don’t know where to start the whole experience was horrible. To start we schedule a guy to come out and get measurements to get the floors done, an hour after he was supposed to show up we called and asked if anyone was still coming. The guy had no idea who we were for 2 minutes of the conversation then said “oh ya I remember you now whoops must have forgotten I’ll come now”. This should have been a sign to go with a different company but we continued anyways. Fast forward a couple weeks we get the floors all done and realize how very unprofessional the floors were installed. There is multiple places where the floors rise and fall and places where you can feel something under them that makes a hard spot. We even paid for a layer to go under the wood called a transition layer so it would all be nice and smooth but nothing of that nature was installed. On top of all this they didn’t put back out dishwasher properly so my husband had to go and re instal it himself. We have called multiple times to speak to someone about our concerns but no one has gotten back to us. Please save yourself some hassle and pay a little extra for a much better experience somewhere else.
Jean is very professional and pleasant to work with.
Sales staff Arguing with eachother about who had possession of me for a full minute. Super uncomfortable for me. Ill shop somewhere else.
We used this location twice for carpet, counters and back splash for a rental house. The sales people don’t communicate with each other and they don’t want to do any work for something that isn’t their sale. Not too mention they aren’t good with their own computer and ordering system- super slow at everything. Lots of miscommunication with our orders, no calls back, we had to argue what we paid for vs what we got and very little instructions on what they’d need for the install date on carpet. Wouldn’t recommend this team.
So happy with my carpet! Dave Hrabik was fantastic from start to finish, unbelievably patient with me (first-time home buyer, first-time carpet buyer) and very helpful. he kept me notified and updated of delays with the carpet production without ME having to call and check. i really appreciate Daves assistance and was so happy with the customer service i received from him. a really great experience.
Heres an update.....After I posted this, the salesman reached out (by email, I never received a phone call from Evelyn or anyone else at Carpet Exchange) for a tile count, which I provided to him. I thought they were going to make an effort to make their decision to over estimate & their mistake right by issuing some sort of credit. That was the last Ive heard from them.So dont let their post lead you to believe they will make things right. Or that I never responded to them.Because of this, I did have to remove a star from my original review.Original post...I ordered specialty tile from this location, meaning I couldnt return any of the purchase. They ordered the wrong tile & were not going to give me any credit on their mistake. I finally got a partial credit. They also added a overage percentage on all my specialty tile (I was told you want overage for any mistakes). I ended up with boxes (not just a partial box and not just one box) of all the tile ordered, costing me hundreds and hundreds of dollars...because I cant return any of it.Just be cautious.
I had a deadline for an appraisal on a remodeling project that ran over schedule. I called around town and everyone is booked. Finally found David Hrabik at Carpet Exchange who took up the challenge. He found me a nice in stock carpet, and an installer who was available on short notice. I was thinking, What am I going to get?. Well, I shouldnt have worried, the carpet itself not only exceeded my expectations, but the installer was fabulous! Ive worked in the trades, rough and finish. Ive managed rentals and flipped foreclosures. So I know quality work when I see it. I will not hesitate to use David again and I if I could give Carpet Exchange 6 stars Id do it in a heartbeat.
I have worked with Carpet Exchange as a general contractor for the past 15 years. It is great to have a place to send our customers where We know they will be shown all their options and helped to guide them to the products that best meets all their needs. We all know that carpet and tile is not one size fits all. Greg Warner is awesome about guiding his customers towards getting the best bang for your buck. He is courteous, professional, and always helpful in working towards the customers best interest.Carpet exchange has always backed their work and the products they sell. I am always impressed with the caliber of installers that they send out to serve our customers. Their showroom helps to make the selection process easy and makes customers secure in knowing they have been given all the information needed to make an informed decision. I am happy to have carpet exchange as a part of our construction team.
This Carpet Exchange is wonderful! The sales staff is kind and knowledgeable of the products displayed on the floor! Overall a wonderful experience, specifically Steve the manager friendly and welcoming every time Ive come in to this location. Even the warehouse was prompt and efficient. DO BUSINESS HERE!!
The Team of guys who served us were great.Randy Shoemaker helped us get the perfect carpet to go with the new tile we put in around our wood stoveJoel Newmeller did a great job measuring and is a great young manJunior came back to install a transition strip between dining room and living area and was a super young manWe love the new carpet!
Friendly, knowledgeable service. Great prices also!
As recent retirees, my wife and I were glad we made a stop to get counter top quotes from the Carpet Exchange on Academy Blvd! We shopped several different contractors and when Greg made us an offer we simply couldnt refuse, we didnt. From the template to the install, we couldnt be happier. We even received a follow up call from Greg a few days later to see if we were satisfied! What a complete, full service company! We highly recommend Greg and the entire staff at Carpet Exchange!
I eventually found what I was looking for but the older sales woman (who was the only one there) was extremely rude. I was simply looking for a sample piece of carpet (something small) and she yelled at me when I tried to tell her I didn’t need a 14x4ft piece of carpet, I told her it wouldn’t even fit in my car (despite the fact I didn’t need need 14 feet of carpet) she mocked me and said I didn’t know what I was doing. Won’t be coming back here due to awful customer service.
Greg was great! Very helpful!
Ive been doing flooring for about 10 years. Self employed, of course. Me and my partners main go to source, was always, greg, at carpet exchange. The warehouse is on site, and you can order, all kinds of carpet. They will even recommend installers for you all. I worked with dan, the carpet man, as an installer. Its all flooring, carpet, tile, laminate. There are restrooms, and a showroom, and the place is clean, no junk products. If you want silk, ask. Five stars for floiring in colorado springs. Platte and academy.
Ginger is great to work with. Very reasonable prices.
Okay selection. It was my first time going and when I went inside nobody greeted me or asked if I needed anything. I had to walk over employees hanging up rugs and leaving tools all over the floor to get to anything, they never offered to move out of the way. I decided to buy a rug and was sent to their other location to pick up, when I got there they said they ordered the wrong one. I got a refund and they didnt seem to care.
Their products are good but their customer service is atrocious. Phone calls and emails about statuses of your orders go unanswered for 2-3 days and a response is only received with constant requests for updates. I had to deal with erroneous charges being placed on my bill because people needed to look up prices and the item was never removed.
Plenty of choices for flooring to pick from and nice showroom!Ginger Cordova, Sales at Carpet Exchange has really helped my Clients and Associates with their Flooring needs!
I’m incredibly frustrated at this point. We had our floors put in a few months ago.. I’ve called and left messages and have also personally spoken with “Greg” who has a very dismissive and arrogant attitude when it comes to any concerns you have. The main reason I’m frustrated is because I’ve called at least 3 times now and again I personally spoke with Greg. I explained how my vinyl flooring is coming up in multiple places less than two months after installation. I contacted Greg as soon as I noticed this and he assured me each time we spoke that he would hand it over to his manager. Almost as if he forgot the first couple of times. Well months are passing by and I still have not heard anything from them.. The situation is unfair because now with how long they’re taking to get back it’s just going to worsen over time. I also want to note that the few times I have called I did also speak with a women who was unfortunately very rude when I tried to explain nothing has been done yet about my floors. I asked her if she could point me in the right direction maybe a manager of some sort and she just sent me to Greg’s voice mail. She basically yelled at me and told me there’s nothing she can do because she was unable to get ahold of Greg at the minute. The fact that I had to deal with that when I’m genuinely just trying to get help just shows how much these people care about their customers. I’m feeling defeated at this point. I’m not reaching out anymore. Don’t waste your time here folks.
I feel I need to warn other consumers not to do business with Carpet Exchange at 410 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO. After deciding on carpet style and color we went to their store with a builders floor plan of our home and salesmen estimated 84 sq yards of carpet. An estimator came to our home a few days later to verify measurements and said 4 pieces totaling 94 sq yds would be required; not believing that I took my own measurements and determined 4 pieces totaling 85 sq yds were needed. (I double-checked all measurements and calculations to ensure accuracy.) When I questioned their estimators result I was given the estimators dimensional drawing where lengths of the 4 pieces had been over-estimated by as much as 5 feet. (I still have a copy of that drawing.) When I pointed out the discrepancies I was told they would go with my measurements if I signed a waiver that absolved them of responsibility. I signed their waiver and the salesperson called to check on availability; they were told that there were 2 pieces of the carpet remaining in-stock, 20 and 42 ft long. Since I needed another 1.75 ft of carpet I said those wouldnt work so we agreed to wait until the manufacturer made new carpet 3 weeks later with an installation appointment the week after that. Two weeks after ordering our salesperson called and said the new carpet was delayed 3 weeks, but they had 2 pieces in-stock that were 20 and 47 ft long. When I said wed been told 2 weeks earlier that 2 pieces were available, but one was 42 ft, not 47 ft, the salesperson said it was re-measured. I said I would allow them to use the 2 pieces if they would agree in-writing to two requirements: (1) no more than 4 pieces of carpet would be used (only be possible if the longer piece was 47 ft), and (2) the two pieces were color-matched (not different dye lots). The salesperson told me they would write up an agreement but later called to say they wouldnt agree to my requirements. I canceled the order.
Really good selection of rugs and flooring. The people are really nice and take good care of you.
Easy to deal with and helpful.Price was very competitive.
Great service and help picking out our new flooring, we are very happy with our new vinyl floors!
Great customer service. Greg is the man
Sure would be nice if they gave me special pull bar for install of snap lock, core teck vynil
Stay clear. This is a scam. They buy limited lots, containers, of phased out cheap Chinese wood product, and lie to the public on several fronts. If you wish additional matching product in a couple years, good luck! We used them twice (Greg, 410 N. Academy in CS) in a 7 year period. Despite all of the apologies, their own installers, on the second job, confirmed what others said: the gaps in the flooring installation are extraordinary. He should have used a rubber mallet. Sales person lied about the flooring matching. It doesnt. Twice we asked where it was made and he lies about that, claiming that it would require a research project to figure it out. On the sides of the boxes it says: Made in China. The installers helpers show up and the installer I was promised is nowhere to be found. They are missing critical transition pieces and no one tells me--so that they can get paid right away. I rushed home doing 2 all-niters from CA to get back in time, and they failed to tell me this. Before the job is installed, the day of the installation, Greg M., sales person, is frantically calling me, leaving 11 hang-ups and shake-down styled voicemails demanding payment! I paid 1/2 at ordering of the material and drove personally to their store paying them in full, personally, just to get him off my back. This is what scam artists do. It took a month to get their quality control person out to inspect our swollen floor, a nearly 3 X 1 area that comes up 1 or more when its hot. They wait until it cooled down to inspect and tell me that I should have photographed it. The inspector (Mike E.) is enraged at me because I asked him to inspect my place in mid morning. I reminded him that I am the customer, work afternoons, and paid a fortune for a poor job. He drives off. No one there has an email address. Instead, they hide behind unanswered voice mails. Go anywhere else. I own 300 units of apartment housing in multiple states and know a little something about honest vs dishonest contractors.
