After looking at all the reviews, I felt a bit discouraged but still wanted to check this place out.Overall it’s really not bad and people are generally very nice. If you want to have a better experience, I suggest to do an appointment which gives you an opportunity to get to know people that work there and most importantly you have all the time you need to ask questions. Or you can just make a call and see if it’s a busy day. If the store is busy, then you might not get as much attention.I talked with Dora the design consultant today and she was really sweet and helpful. Definitely will go back again.
My daughter and I shopped at our local Dallas BD store last month and had an exceptional experience with Ashlyn Reynolds, Design Consultant. We were shopping for a renovated bedroom at a beach house on Long Island. We needed ideas on bedding, but after seeing a video and images of the room, Ashlyn redesigned the space, suggesting a new furniture arrangement we never would have considered!I just returned to Dallas from New York where I implemented Ashlyn’s design with new bedding, lamps, and mirrors from Ballard Designs. The small bedroom looks incredible and Ashlyn did this from 1,500 miles away. Kudos to Ashlyn who noticed my stressed daughter and me roaming the store, needing help. Ashlyn proactively approached us and the rest is history. The beach house bedroom has never looked this great. (My family purchased the house in 1974!)
I came in with my disabled father to purchase a rug, entry shelf tree, 2 accent cabinets and look at outdoor furniture. We were there for 45 minutes and absolutely no one even spoke to us. It wasn’t even that busy and I knew most of what I wanted. I finally left because my disabled father was exhausted. Literally every other person who came in got greeted and assisted.
To begin, I will never shop at this store again. I went in today to purchase a floor plant I have had my eye on. As I am checking out, the sales lady tells me that she cannot sell me any of the 3 floor models they had in stock, and that I would need to order one online. I asked her why, as I was happy to buy a floor model and take it home with me. She reiterated she couldn’t sell me any. I agreed to order online until she told me I would be responsible for the shipping charge. Absolutely unbelievable! I have never been to a store where shipping was not waived if the item was not available in store. I asked her why I should be responsible to pay for shipping if I was happy to buy the item sitting right in front of me, to which she pridefully responded “we are one of the few stores left that require customers to cover all shipping charges.” I mentioned how unfortunate that was and walked away. Too bad that I’m shopping for items for a new home. The lack of customer service nowadays is disheartening.
Unique interior design store.Great ideas for your home decor.
We purchased outdoor patio furniture on June 02, 2021 while at the Preston, Dallas store. We were largely ignored with the exception of one staff member. We were deceived into believing that with the payment of an expidited shipping fee, we would have our order by June 19, 2021. To date we only have two of the 5 items purchased that was to be delivered to our home. No sofa, no love seat and no chair. I was informed on yesterday that one of the items (the chair), is on back order through September. WHAT?? We are so disappointed. We will not have our furniture in time for a large portion of the summer. We would not have ordered from Ballard Designs had we known of the delays. To their credit, we were refunded the shipping fee as a courtesy, per our request. I was also told that our belief that we were charged an expidited fee was unfounded in that once they realized the furniture would not be shipped on time, we were not charged the expidited fee. SMH, we had no idea of any of this until we called corporate on yesterday. Buyer beware!
We purchased a chandelier in September 2019 and never received communication that it was at the store ready to be picked up. Holidays came and went and then COVID hit. Out of sight and out of mind and we forgot to follow up with the store regarding our order. When we called in May 2021, they claim that the item was picked up on September 18th 2019, which wasn’t us. I checked our toll tag activity and we never went through the Royal Lane exit. Another interesting fact, is that my wife (who purchased the item) wasn’t even in Dallas on the day they said the item was picked up. We have flight confirmation and parking fees at Love Field to prove she wasn’t in Dallas on September 18th. All we want is the chandelier, but the store refuses to listen to the fact that it wasn’t us who picked up the chandelier.
Awesome! Found a bedroom sidetable on sale, just what I needed!
Can we just talk about Ballard Designs for just a second. I see this rating on here of 3.4 and I do not understand that in the least. Who were there a couple of weekends ago and we were just amazed at how friendly the staff was. The prices were reasonable. The selection was pretty extensive. And if I may call attention to someone. There is a manager there named Sean. I spoke with him at length for a. Of time while the wife did some shopping and I tell you what he was just fantastic! If more managers does the kind of Pride that he takes in his store with their store Im pretty sure the customer service industry would just get turned upside down. Friendly knowledgeable courteous and extremely helpful. Maybe theyll take Sean and put him in a role to train other managers. If I could give you 10 Stars I would.
I ordered a console table 7 weeks ago from Ballard Designs and was extremely excited about the order. Fern at the Dallas location helped me and she was wonderful. 3 weeks later my console is delivered only to find out that there was stain missing on 3 of the panels. SO I called the corp 800# to have them replace the console. First, the rep on the phone tells me if I want a replacement its faster to order a NEW console and then return the damaged one. WHAT????? No...Ballard Designs needs to expedite a new replacement console to me ASAP. Should not be my problem. Second...2 weeks goes by...nothing. No call from JB Hunt to schedule. So I call back only to find that the console is STILL SITTING IN THE WAREHOUSE. So now they tell it will ship in the next couple of days. Fast forward a week...still nothing. So I call Fern at the Dallas location. Finally, shes able to get them to ship. Then today, I get a call from JB HUNT confirming delivery....only to find out that they dont have an order to pick up the damaged console! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Now I have to wait AGAIN for Ballard Designs to get their act together. Absolutely awful customer service....with the exception of Fern, shes been very helpful. But were dealing with corp at this point...absolutely unacceptable! Ballard Designs you need to TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS! Or we wont purchase from you again and well tell all of our friends to do the same.
Great selection of furniture, decor, and design ideas. The employees were hospitable and informative.
They didn’t give us the full refund for our return. Make sure you read the small fine print because they are not selling what is advertised.
I will not go back to this location as the manager is rude and makes me feel uncomfortable while shopping. All the other staff are professional and helpful, but NOT THE MANAGER. Until they change out the manager, I will not be shopping at Ballard Design in Dallas.
First of all, I would like to start with the manager at the Ballard store in Dallas, Kate..I received a chair that I ordered in January, it took two months to get. I received the chair and was so disappointed it was absolutely the worst craftsmanship I ever seen.I paid $1300 for pretty much piece of junk..I called Kate 20 minutes later, on a Monday and she said we can return and the delivery people will pick it up.I contacted her on Tuesday she did not return my phone call, I contacted her on Wednesday she finally emailed me back and said I will talk to you shortly today is Friday I still have not talked to her..I was told to send the pictures to another department andI was just told I can keep my chair and they credit me $200...or they will redo it... I absolutely don’t trust them to redo this chair properly...This is so disappointing and I will send pictures of this chair if I have to, to show other customers what they are in for if they order any custom furniture and you are flat out stuck with it even if you are not happy, at all...Awful, customer service...My next step is to go on Channel 5 in Dallas... They would love this story and try to protect other customers from going through what I am..I hope no one else has to experience this... I trusted Ballard’s enough to purchase a chair for $1300..,
They have the most arrogant staff here. I feel I own them when I purchased here. They definitely treat white customers nicer than treating me. So if you are a minority, don’t come and purchase.
Love this store! Staff are so friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the catalogs for years, now you can see most of the merchandise and fabrics in person.
Extraordinarily helpful.
Helpful staff Wonderful home decor, furniture, and fabric.
My wife and I have very little expertise with design. As such we have been apprehensive to work with a designer for fear of a salesperson pushing us for more than what we need. We were extremely happy with our decision to go to Ballard and specifically, JC. We worked with JC to totally redesign our living room. He was a pleasure to work with, accommodating and, most of all, not even a whiff of salesmanship. We really felt like we were working with someone with our best interests in mind and that he “got” what we wanted even though we were having a difficult time articulating it. He’s a professional and we will definitely be coming back to him as needs arise.
Love the decor and staff. Want something special? They can probably do that for you. Only wish delivery fees were less.
Great store! Great customer service. Keep up the great work!
Really cool furniture and decorative items. Ballard Designs aHas been my favorite for a long time!
I have shopped Ballard’s online for years. While I like the case goods and art, the upholstery has been of low quality- office chair covered in Suzanne Kasler linen shredded in a few years of normal use, sofa with velvet came apart at seams with minimal use. That being said, I received an email from this store about free design service. My daughter wanted to redo her room in purple and I had no idea how to do that -so I thought I’d give it a try. This was a mistake for the following reasons;1. The design person was minimally competent (You get what you pay for) -she did not know about the merchandise in the store or online. She couldn’t find things online. She seemed to have a hard time with room dimensions. I did end up picking some items out- some that she selected others that I found on my own.2. The Designer pressured me to make my purchase stating that 25% off sale ended that day- it was 20 minutes until close- so I purchased the lot of stuff we came up with.3. She sent me home with computer generated layouts of the items I purchased. When I got home and measured it out I realized that the chair and ottoman she insisted would fit would never fit. This is despite the fact I brought her the room dimension and lay outs with photos. Since Ballard’s has a no return policy on their custom upholstery I was sure I would be stuck with the items. When I called customer service they did cancel those items but because “the fabric was cut” I had to pay for it. However, they made a big deal about how I should have measured first. When Intold them about how I was pressured 20 minutes before close they told me that shouldn’t have happened because they will honor the sale price while a customer goes home to measure.4. The rug the designer picked out did not even vaguely match the room she designed when it arrived. I had to send it back-by either taking it to the store-9x12 rug that’s huge, or was given a day with a 8nhour window for pick up.5. The custom upholstery was late - there was constant confusion about whether it was in Dallas or not. The delivery company Ballard’s uses has 1 star reviews - one day they showed up an hour early so I wasn’t home. Another day they showed up 2 hours past the delivery window. The delivery company never answered my calls - when you call it goes to voicemail-so I had to wait for them to call me weeks later.6. The items that were delivered were not the same color as the swatches in the store. I ordered a chair for my husbands office that was supposed to be a deep teal- per the swatch I was shown- it’s aqua as delivered. The velvet looks and feels cheap-and is already so tight over the armrest it looks like it will split- it does not look like a $850 chair. The headboard for my daughters room was supposed to be light lavender- it’s deep grape purple. Given the no return policy I guess I’m going to be stuck with these items -after waiting 12 weeks, having numerous conversations with customer service, and spending about 12 hours waiting for delivery. I’ll give their customer service a try- but am doubtful.7. The final straw- I paid to have the more expensive delivery where they are supposed to unpack items and remove the packing supplies- of course the delivery people refused to do this.In sum-terrible experience- will never shop at Ballard’s again. I could have gotten the same or better quality items from Wayfair for 50% money and hassle-with better customer service in about 3 days not 12 weeks.
We ordered one outdoor rug and one runner rug with a mat to go under the runner in October getting ready for our Christmas party December 15th.We receive a rug from JB hunt and they set it up outside. We receive the mat in the mail and the runner was cancelled on their end. Then we receive a call a couple days later saying we have an order for delivery. So I call and they said they have a rug. I look at the outdoor rug we received and they had set up outside and I double checked our order and they rug was the wrong rug.So I call JB hunt and they say to call Ballard. Ballard says they are not sure what happened and to email them a picture of the rug I received. I do it.A week or so later I get a call from JB hunt saying I have a rug for delivery. I ask if they will pick up the wrong rug and they weren’t sure what I was talking about but they would call me back. So a couple days later I get a call from JB hunt saying they have the rug and same story, they don’t know about the wrong rug. It is the beginning of December by now. So I say to schedule it because is wanted to use it for our Christmas party. They say well they can’t have it delivered until December 19th. I’m frustrated at this point and just say that’s fine but we leave for a month the following day.Dec 19th comes and they cancel the delivery because they are short on time.We got out of the county for a month. In the time we are gone, we come home to 2 notes saying attempt delivery of the rug.We are back in town for 3 weeks and we get a letter from a collection agency that we owe Ballard $302. So I call, they were very nice but 45 min on the phone, they were able to tell me that they charged us for the wrong rug sent to our house, and sent it to collection agency. They tried to set up a pick up and delivery again.I’m so frustrated that I paid the $302, to Just be done and for them to take me off collection. So I got 0/2 rugs I ordered and had a huge headache and more money on an indoor rug for my outside they doesn’t even really go with our colors.
This place is awesome! great decor!!
