The food here is great and I was so excited that they opened a new location after the other one closed. However, I tried to come here 2 weeks ago and the staff told me I could only order online and it was 45 minute wait. So today I ordered online for pick up. When I arrived the staff was inside literally doing whip it’s and they informed us we were not allowed to stay. I said well my brother and I just want to eat before his class and they said well sorry you ordered for pick up you need to leave, order here next time. One staff member tried to let us stay and the other one told us to go. There was not another customer in the restaurant. I’m not sure why we would need to leave unless they were just super high from their whip it’s.
Used to love this place back when they used buckwheat flour. Its how genuine crepes were originally made. Now they switched to basic wheat. Not a fan of their gluten free option either. They make their crepes too thick now. Overall not good anymore. I would only give my business back if they brought back buckwheat. A place that specializes in crepes should do better.
They are very understaffed. For being in a college town, its super important for there to be extra back-up staff for the after class rush. My gf and I stopped by this place on a saturday at 6pm & they were closed with no notes on the door or anything... So today, my gf wanted to go and try our luck. We ordered to-go crepes: The Paris & the cinnamon roll with vegan mods. They were out of vegan anything other than fruit and crepe batter. So whip, caramel, and chocolate drizzle all contained non-vegan ingredients, unlike what their menu says. I understand that they have a shortage, but any sort of sign or postage that they are out of vegan friendly options would be nice. My gf & I waited 40 min for two crepes & there was no line; just 2 tables ahead of us... Which is understandable because they were so understaffed. You could also tell the staff members were stressed/irritated & they avoided eye contact when we first got there and were trying to order. The crepes were ok, but I honestly wouldnt go back unless my friends or gf wanna go for brunch here sometime.
A nice menu with gluten free options. Its also a super cute establishment though not open for dine in options at this time.
Delicious! Its so nice to have a restaurant with lots of gluten free options. The Hunchback crepe was incredibly savory and the ingredients were evenly spread throughout so every bite was as wonderful as the last. There are a few free 15 minute parking spaces right on the street that make it easy to run in and order, or pick up an online order.
First time eating here was not a great experience. I placed an order over the phone at 1, which they said would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived at 1:30 and they had not started my order, when the only other people there were two groups already eating their food. I ended up waiting another 25 minutes before leaving with my food.I was looking forward to trying their vegan options and ordered an Epinards Savory Crepe with vegan batter and vegan cheese. The cook tried to make my crepe 3 times and could not get it to hold or flip. In the end I ended up with a crepe that held together but the cheese inside was raw and the batter itself seemed undercooked. It did not taste bad other than being undercooked.I appreciate the cook giving her best effort to get my order completed, but they should not advertise vegan options if the customer experience will be anything like mine.
They had a full house and we still only waited 15 mins for food, and were able to dine in. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in simple industrials. All staff was friendly and playfully witty, such a fresh perspective lately! Its nice to have fresh fruit, in place of preserved compotes too! Lots of vegan/gluten free options abounding. Definitely check out For Crêpe Sake, its a great addition to the downtown EL food niche. Their plating presentation will impress you!
Went to this place hoping for some great food and was disappointed. The crepes are not good. I was hoping for some yummy crepe recipes but they are just blah. No creativity in the menu. One crepe is literally cinnamon and sugar and it’s $10. Too bad because I love crepes, but the menu leaves something to be desired. On the plus side, the staff was extremely friendly and quick, but I won’t be going back.
Got the French Crepe and despite the longer wait for it, it was delicious.Usually I’d need two, but just one filled me up to the point that I needed a nap afterwards lol. If you’re looking for a nice breakfast or brunch place, I highly recommend!
Great coffee, great waffles, crepe choices are well thought out. Staff genuinely appreciates you being there. Great job! highly recommend.
Very nice place. Unfortunately the savory option we ate were all super dry and a little undersalted. The sweet ones were great! I Unfortunately couldnt finish my hunchback due to the dryness, but the service was good.
Hit or miss. They turn over staff so fast the food is inconsistent let alone the times they are open are random
The food was a little pricey but it’s due to the size of the serving. The servings are large and they taste very good. However, the wait and the ordering process was way too much for me. It was difficult and it took forever. There was no real way to see how close it was to your order being done. If you eat here, eat in and bring a friend to talk to.
Staff is so friendly. great atmosphere. the Crepes were delicious! We split 4 all were so so tasty!! Must check this place out when in East Lansing!
Used to love this place at its old location! i got the hunchback everyday for like a year in 2019, i went to the east lansing location and was dissapounted, The crepe was SO THICK!!! im not exagerating when i say think pancake. I also notice they put the pesto on top now, whihc is confusing as its so much better inside with every bite. Seemed like they were getting laxy and made a huge thick crepe and just threw the pesto on top.i w=miss the way it used to be!!!
The food was great. I was a little skeptical at first if I was going to feel full but I was. I highly recommend for everyone to give this place a try. I will definitely be back again.
Staff was very polite and were great!. The crepes felt undercooked and too thick. It was also rather expensive for what we got. While it wasnt a horrible experience I cannot recommend them nore will I eat there again.
The atmosphere is lovely, and the staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, we tried 3 different Crêpes and did not enjoy any of them. If youre a Crêpe lover, Id try somewhere else. If youre just looking for a menu change, give it a try.
Delicious crepes and waffles! Staff and service was wonderful as well! Will definitely come back next time were in East Lansing!
Super LGBTQ+ friendly place, half the menu is vegan, and the food is deliciously amazing. Definitely coming back soon.
Theyve moved from the downtown Lansing location to downtown East Lansing. The food is still great and the location is better, but it seems like the menu lost quite a few options and the food to crepe ratio has changed quite a bit......more empty space in the crepe.Still a fantastic place to eat though
Had some lovely crepes and this cute little restaurant. Great food, great service and great atmosphere.
Super delicious fun spot in East Lansing. There is really good coffee, sweet and savory crepes and waffles. We had dinner and dessert. Kids, parents, and grandparents all loved it. Yummy, generous portions, and not too expensive. 5 stars for sure!
Delicious and decorated super cute!!! I did not know they opened and/or relocated in East Lansing as I thought I had been there downtown Lansing. Regardless Im glad I checked it out! I had one of the savory crepes and salad and I cant wait to go back to try a dessert one.
Waited 30+ mins for 2 creeps to finally arrive, only to have two people walk in, sit down, and be served immediately. Food is overpriced and service is slow would not recommend.
I had the Tuscan crepe and it was good. Also the service was awesome!
Wow..soo good went during weekday for lunch....but Weekends are hard to get seated. They didnt answer my take out order.
My son and I ate here twice in a row. We loved their Tuscan crepe and waffles!
Stopped here from out of town for a quick breakfast while meeting people. All the dishes were delicious, and after looking at thier instragram photos went with the Belgian waffle in lieu of a crepe as we had a long day. It was fantastic and had the Paris and the coffee was also on point. The french press coffee is the whole press not just the cup and provided jolt others needed. I had the caramel mocha which also hit the spot on a cold overcast day.
Me and my wife stopped - she had the banana walnut caramel crepe and I had the Nutella chocolate banana crepe. We both really enjoyed hers, it was great. Mine was kind of a miss, we couldnt taste any Nutella - it was good, it just didnt have much if any Nutella, just chocolate. I feel like Nutella is a strong enough flavor on its own to where they could just have a Nutella banana one and that would be great.
The food at Crepe Sake is excellent! However, service at the new location on MAC was lacking. After ordering two crepes to go, we noticed that a group that came in after us received their food before we did. We believe this is because they chose to dine in. This line skipping seemed to cause confusion, as an employee then had to come up to us, apologize, and ask for our order again. After receiving our food a few minutes later, we left the restaurant only to realize afterwards that one of the crepes we ordered was incorrect. I think this is because I only said lemon when asked the second time for what we wanted, as I assumed the employee was just re-assigning us to our original order in the line for food. Instead it seems that they were making a completely new order for us . My request was incorrectly interpreted as a lemon & sugar crepe, even though though our email receipt lists the correct order of sweet lemon. Not only is the practice of letting dine-in customers skip ahead rude to those who choose to order out, it seems to be causing mistakes. The restaurant needs to consider removing this policy.
Great food and service. Fantastic light lunch on a hot day.
Food was good, a little pricey. Staff was friendly but showed no table antiquity. Hoping it was a one time thing.
Went here for their vegan options - vegan crepe batter & 5 vegan cheese options (cream cheese, colby jack, pepperjack, mozzarella, and cheddar). They even cook vegan crepes at a separate station. I appreciate them having so many options for vegans, but I wasnt very impressed. The batter is slightly sweet which gave the savory crepe an odd flavor. The restaurant isnt very eco-friendly (styrofoam cups, plastic silverware, etc.). I appreciate the vegan options, but I wont be back.
Such a cute place!! Delicious crepes and great coffee too. The staff was so sweet as well. We will be back soon!!!
Never had a crepe before. Had the hunchback, I was very impressed. The place was clean and the staff very friendly.
I have been hearing nothing but great things about this place, & I finally got the chance to go here when they were open (which now includes Sundays!) I was really happy with the menu, the service, the Cold Brew coffee, infused waters, & most importantly the food! Great Veg-head options, I will definitely be going back again!
I had one of the vegetarian ones with avocado, basil, tomatoes, spinach and cheese. It was the most delicious vegetarian thing Ive ever eaten. Everything was so fresh and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The avocado tasted like they have a magical Michigan avocado tree growing in their basement and they picked it just for you.
The Tuscan crepe was delicious! Try it with the side fruit cup.
Was there short time after their opening in East Lansing. VERY cute space. Had to wait quite a while for takeout order. Most frustrating part was that walk-in orders taken after ours were served first. COVID precautions were laxed, which made waiting for order uncomfortable. Most employees masked, but person I presumed was owner was wearing purely fitting mask often below nose and mouth. Other employees adjusting masks and then touching other items without washing hands. Customers walking around unmasked. Tables closer than 6’. Common coffee and water refills, which is why there were unmakes customers getting up from tables and walking around. I almost walked out. Menu has some great combos on it—however, more American than French. Sugar/sweet always overpowering rather than subtle and balanced. My order was also served without items advertised in menu. Great potential in space, and even menu, but certainly some significant kinks to work out, particularly as COVID persists.
The service, food, and esthetic is 10/10!
If you like overpriced food, smoothies that taste like dirt milk, room temp water, and uncomfortable seating, then youll love this place.
Delicious crepes for a decent price.
Good service. Crepes were delicious.
Amazing gluten free crepe and it’s celiac safe
I have gone here a handful of times. Very clean. Friendly workers. My only complaint is the crepe itself has no taste.
Pretty good overall. Overpriced in my opinion.
We went here literally every weekend for brunch for like 2 years. I love the cheesy potato (add spinach) and the nutella with banana (no chocolate chips). Cant wait for them to re-open in EL!
The food was delicious, I will definitely be coming back!
What a nice break from the ordinary! First time guest sees and appreciates Crepe Sakes efforts to bringing a new taste experience to Lansing. I had the raspberry and brie crepe and hot black coffee. ☕ It was great. They serve Zingermans coffee blends right here in Lansing. Live a little and try something New!
Friendly staff and super delicious food. We loved everything about it. It was cozy, had gluten free and vegan options that were wonderful. So glad we stopped.
Has great food and awsome costumer service
Delicious, really fast service, and plenty of options for any dietary restrictions (though they do charge extra for substitutions). Atmosphere was really nice for small groups. The girl taking my order was soft spoken but super nice and the other employees made sure to make us feel welcome there. Would come here again if I lived in michigan
The overall experience was good. When I first walked in two homeless men aggressively asked me to get them food which was a turn off. I told the staff and they took care of it ASAP. I got the gluten free vegan options with a sweet and savory option. The sweet was everything I hoped for and the savory was okay. I wish the mushrooms and other insides were flavored because it tasted like they had no seasoning. Would go again and am very thankful for the vegan and gluten free option!
The staff seemed friendly enough at the order. The coffee was brought out on time and it was good quality. Then the wait...and wait....and wait for 2 crepes. I think we waited for at least 30 minutes as we noticed others getting their orders before us and one person struggling to keep up. Then finally the food came, no apology, no do you need anything, how is everything...just here are your crepes and see ya. Don’t waste your time.
The crepes are good but the ventilation is very poor, every time you go in there you need to change your clothes because they smell like fried greasy food
Their coffee is delicious, and their cream is fresh. I had the maple syrup, walnut, cream cheese and strawberry special. It was delicious. Very reasonable prices and quality ingredients. Very easy to receive your order with their number system.Great job!
Very nice restaurant, decorative and captures a French aesthetic. Service was great. Coffee was kind of expensive ($4+), but a lot of coffee places are more expensive, and overall the coffee was yummy and worth it. I would definitely recommend this place, and I hope to come again to try their food.
This place was absolutely wonderful. The drinks were fantastic. The crepes were perfect. Just know that the coffee drinks are traditional. If you order a macchiato it will come as a shot of espresso and foam(traditional). All in all, absolutely wonderful.
Really interesting idea for a restaurant and well executed. Fast service, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. They really only serve crepes, so the menu is small, but the crepes are wonderful with quite a few options. They also have good coffee, including lattes. Somewhat pricey (average of $8 without tip) but not bad.
Allergy friendly! Vegan cheeses (mozzarella, cheddar, cream cheese, whipped cream) and gluten free crepe batter. Food was amazing and portions were generous. I only marked down my rating because the service was slow (understandable for a Saturday) combined with with communication that left us uncertain about the status of our order. But we will be back!
Cute spot for breakfast or lunch. Held a small meeting here a few weeks ago on a Saturday morning. Great service! Some of my group had not been here before and they were all impressed by the food and lavender lattes. I like that everything is made fresh to order and I love that I can get French Press coffee.
A small, though interesting breakfast or brunch restaurant. Food was was made fresh using fresh ingredients. Tasty combinations made for a good brunch. The atmosphere is commercial/industrial feel and the seating is limited. The staff are curtious and seem quite friendly. **Note that after being seated with your menu, you must decide what you want and then proceed up to the counter to place your order. They will assign you a table number and bring your food to you. The price for breakfast would run about $10-$12 a person.
I love this place. Its an amazing addition to Lansings restaurant offerings. Never had a bad experience. Clean, friendly place. Highly recommend them for either breakfast or lunch!!
The owner was very rude to her employee, the food was disappointing as well we will not be returning.
Food was great. I wish they would have offered me some sturdy silverware to eat with rather than just the disposable at the table. It made it hard to eat the delicious crepe which was sticky with syrup. I was a sticky mess after eating it. It was yummy though. The place was cozy and clean too. Did I mention the food was great?? 😙
This is a first-rate restaurant. Excellent food, superb coffee, and a very relaxing setting. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were had two savory crepes and a sweet one; all were excellent. Very veg/vegan-accommodating.
Had a savory and a sweet crepe and definitely prefer the sweet. Busy place recommend the apple Carmel crepe
A wonderful place to stop in and have breakfast/brunch. Beware however the 7$ french press is HUGE (and so tastey). The crepes aree out of this world, cant wait to go back!
Crepes tasted great, but staff was unfriendly and menu was inaccurate. We were all set to order the sweet and savory combo and were told they dont do it on weekends. The other combos specifically say only available Monday through Friday but this one did not say that. Either offer it or update your menu. 🤷♀️
Great crepes, more towards the comfort food than the healthy or fancy side. Price is competitive (no table service) but the waiting time is a killer! It looks they serve a lot to-go orders. The upside was the freshness of the ingredients and preparation. Size is as big as a full meal... even kid sizes are big.
Very delicious and very well made. Not dry or overcooked and they have a good mixture of flour and vanilla in their crepe mix. My only complaint is they skimp on toppings and filling sometimes on their stuffed crepes, i guess it depends who you get.
I had the sweet and savory combo and it was fantastic! The two smaller sized crepes were the perfect size. I had the potato and cheese crepe with the cinnamon sugar crepe as a little dessert.I will definitely be coming here again to try other crepes.
We came early in the day to see what the new shop on the block was like, expecting to see a few more folks in for breakfast; although we dined alone, the friendly woman behind the counter was happy to help us and kindly introduced us to the robust menu, adorned with a variety of crepes. The espresso drinks here are brewed properly; not Americanized, and a number of unique flavorings like lavender and mint are available if thats your speed.Id love to see this place get substantial business; its hard out there in Downtown Lansing, and theres some heart here.
